I can't say enough good things about this place, and the staff! My husband and I travel all over for escape rooms. We spent the entire day at Timed Out, and loved it so much we played all of their rooms. Their rooms are challenging but not impossible. Each room had something really neat that set it apart from other escape rooms. The owner talked to us a good bit about what it's like owning an escape room (we've been talking about opening up our own for a while now) and let us see how things work behind the scenes. One of my favorite parts were the game masters... they were teenagers and were a lot of fun. It's nice seeing a business owner hire teenagers who are full of energy and love their jobs. Anyways, if you love escape rooms, check this place out! You won't regret it! Thanks for such a great time, y'all Can't wait to come back to play the new room when it opens!! read more

We came here while in North Carolina, it's located in a strip mall with plenty of parking. We bought our tickets online and when we arrived sign the waivers and we're on our way to our escape room. Maggie was our helper through the experience and she was great. We picked the room Depth, it was a little harder to solve then I thought. Overall it was a great time spent with family!!! read more

Yes! Right on time @ Time Out Escape. Today, we decided to celebrate my husband birthday with a escape room. We booked the West theme room which was well decorated and not to much. Chris, was our game master he was very nice and quick with clues. The place was definitely clean and organized. My family really had a great time at Time Out Escape. I love how they each team posted on their website based off ranks. They even gave my husband a shirt for his bday based off the room we were end. Love it! I highly recommend this Escape place. read more

My wife and two young adults were in town and decided to try Timed Out Escape. We were not disappointed! We did the "Depth" room and it was so fun! Chris was our game master. He was so nice and helpful. He made the game even more fun! There was a glitch in one aspect of the game (technology right??) and they fixed it while we kept playing. Was not an issue at all. The premise of the game was interesting and the difficulty was just right. We escaped with a few minutes to spare and with our hearts pumping!! We would not hesitate to go back to Timed Out Escape. This was truly an excellent experience. read more

Wicked FUN!!! Best ever! Hubby and I throughly enjoyed the Illusion room on today! It was just us, since we have been working our life together for 40 years now we were more confident in our abilities LOL ! No arguments, but our brains were about to explode at the end! SMILE! The creators are so through & through detail oriented. We made it to solution with only 25 seconds to spare! Could not have done it without our guide on the speaker!!! Tina... THANK YOU! Wish we lived closer to do the other rooms! When you people go... you need to make a reservation and pay upfront. Best fun we have had in a while. BTW... Yelp removes reviews of escape rooms, so understand there are a whole lot more 5star ratings they have done away with! read more

Just now leaving Timed Out Escape Rooms, and we had a BLAST!! Chris was our game master and he was awesome! If you've never done an escape room, then you can stop here & go straight to this company with no regrets. If you have done escape rooms before, here's a detailed review for you. Timed Out Escape is independently owned & local, but you'd never know from the moment you walk in. Everything feels so polished and professional. This feels like a corporate business. The rooms have incredible attention to detail. No cheap props. And it's the little things: professional videos, an alert tone which matches the theme of each room, and responsive game masters who knows exactly how far along you are in the game. All this is highly appreciated from those who have done many many rooms. This review is for my favorite: Illusion, a magic themed escape room. As I said earlier, lots of attention to detail with all the puzzles themed for magic. (Which by the way, is an escape room theme you don't see that often!) In addition, after doing several hundred escape rooms, we still found unique puzzles not seen before! (We liked their work so much, we came back and did the rest of their rooms a few weeks later. I can happily say that the uniqueness of the puzzles, the immersive set designs and the customer service was maintained across every room!) Timed Out Escape is great for new escape room adventurers & pros alike. The owners clearly love escape rooms themselves and have put lots of work & passion into their business. If you are ever in Charlotte & want to do an escape room, this company needs to be at the top of your list. read more

First time doing an escape room and now I know what all the hype is about! We were in a group of 3 with two adults and one 8 year old but we still killed it (with a little help from out game master, amber) this place allows for unlimited clues which is great -- but we used less than 10! Also thank you to Amber for making this such a great experience! read more

We did the Illusion Room at Times Out Escape and had an awesome experience! One of the best escape rooms we've been to!

What a great experience for our group of 6! Our room facilitator, Nicole, was so wonderful and helpful throughout the whole process and helped us out just at the right times to keep us focused and having fun!! We did the Precinct room and it was certainly challenging. The overall setup and story was so intriguing and we were so immersed in the environment. I would highly recommend this room and the escape room experience at Timed Out. Thanks for a great night! read more

Very well done. Highly recommend! Very professional, friendly, informative staff. High quality escape rooms, very well done, think- spare no expense, when being in this facility, they did it right. We did the Illusion room, loved it & finished with seconds to spare (with hints). We are coming back soon to try a different escape. read more

Timed Out Escape - Amazing area to sit during PARTAYYYYYY - Escape Games Near Me - Charlotte, North Carolina

We've been bored long enough stuck at home and I'm so glad we decided on Timed Out Escape!! This is my first time doing an escape room challenge and with the family. It was myself, my husband and our 3 kids (age 5, 11, 12). We weren't sure how our youngest would handle it but thank goodness we have the best game master ever (THANK YOU MCKENZIE!!). McKenzie was patient and really good at communicating clues, instructing our kids and especially getting our little one involved enough to make our little one feel extra helpful trying to solve the riddles and clues. Turns out our 5 yr old wants to come back soon along with the rest of us!! We all had so much more fun than we had anticipated. This is a great activity to do if you have kids with an age gap like mine's. It's hard to find something to do that they will all enjoy and this one really surpassed our expectation. THANKS AGAIN McKenzie and Timed Out Escape for turning our Sunday into a Sunday funday!! read more

This was a great time. Our family loves doing escape rooms and we are always looking for new experiences. We did THE PRECINCT and it was very challenging and loved it. We will definitely be back to do the other rooms. read more

We had a wonderful time at the escape rooms this past weekend. They were ESPECIALLY accommodating to our family, they opened early just for us the day after Thanksgiving, and let us start both rooms simultaneously so we were able to end at the same time. Our Escapemaster, Ryan, was super helpful and friendly, and although we required a few clues to get out, we felt quite accomplished and capable! I would highly recommend this business to other groups or families if they want a great working-together outing of fun and excitement! read more

My best friend and I have done over 100 escape rooms across Virginia, North Carolina and in Boston. It really has become our thing. We were recommended to come to Timed Out Escape Room and I am really glad that we did. We were able to tackle all three rooms and I'm glad that we did. First and Foremost, Timed Out did an incredible job creating a welcoming environment. Jack Anthony And Victoria (I really Hope I got all of your names right as I lost the cards. I'm the worst. Sorry) our Game Masters were all wonderful, energetic, and really helped make our experience super positive. You can tell this place really envokes a team environment with their staff which makes for such a great time. I can also tell you this place also has a wonderful lobby space of team building, corporate events, parties etc. Onto the rooms; While there is not a room I disliked, there definitely is a different skill level in each of these rooms. West was a great family friendly room. I can see this room being great for escapers of all ages and experience. The room is decorated well, the puzzles make sense, and there are some fun tricks in the room that everyone can have fun with. Illusion was my personal favorite of the three. This room really encapsulated the theme. I've done many magic rooms, but this room really executed cool magic tricks in the room that made this super fun. This room is really non-linear, which makes it really great for larger groups as there is plenty for everyone to do. Also we had a lot of fun with Victoria, our Game Master, in this room and she read us well to be able to have fun with us while we were in the room. Precinct was tough. I'll tell you this room is easy to overthink which makes this room a challenge and is for sure the most difficult of the three. While it definitely put my brain to use, it definitely takes a good amount of talking through and a smidge more awareness of some string to really get through it effectively. This room does have some nice puzzles in it which I also appreciated. Too long, didn't read? Timed out has something for everyone, whether you've done 100 or 0. The staff is great and you won't get a bad host which makes this a positive experience. Each room has its benefits and is handcrafted and made in house, so you aren't getting the corporate cold feel but can tell that those who work there enjoy the rooms and are proud of the awesome products they have put out. If you are in Charlotte I would definitely recommend these rooms. read more

This place is great! Friendly staff, animated rooms, and just a great time. You can have fun in a group or on a date. The rooms are challenging but not impossible. My wife and I have been twice and can't wait to finish the rest of the rooms they have. Sean was great as a game master. He was helpful without being intrusive and has a great attitude. read more

I just went with my family and we completed Precinct with just a few minutes to spare. Super fun for the entire group (we had ages 11, 16, 17, and 40+). Ryan was a great game master, giving us clues only when we asked and encouraging us along the way! We will be back to complete other rooms! read more

Over the Holidays, I took my family of five with 1 high schooler and two in middle school and did the Western theme escape. Chris was great. The western theme escape was medium rate and I think accurate good for first timers like us (I had done one at work) and we finished with only a few minutes left. Overall, very professional and would recommend the place and would recommend the Western theme escape for families with kids - probably too easy for the more experienced escapers. read more

Nicole was amazing. We took my parents and our teenaged daughter and had the best time in the Illusion room. Nicole did a wonderful job giving us clues when we needed them without giving away too much. read more

Timed out was an excellent escape room experience! We loved the sets and the staff was so friendly. We played West and Precinct and had a blast with both of them. Can't wait to go back and try their other rooms! read more

Visiting family for the holidays and thought this would be a fun family experience. Have done a few escape rooms in the past with other adults and going into the experience had some hesitation about the younger kids having fun. Our group was four kids ranging in age from 5-10 and three adults. Did the "Western" themed room and it was A LOT OF FUN FOR EVERYONE! Adults were able to coach/assist the kiddos and our Game-master Nicole seemed to step in at just the right time with perfect hints/clues. She was great! Kiddos had a great time and even solved all of the puzzles ... they left on super thrilled! Highly recommend! read more

Second time here during Covid and it was the perfect family fun! Nice to get away from the house and have a safe place to go to (masks on, sanitized rooms). I want to say our guy's name was Thomas? This was my first time at Timed Out and it was an amazing experience! We did the Western room at Timed Out and had a great time- Tina was very personable - would highly recommend!

Great experience. The Illusion Room is mainly non linear. Definitely need multiple people to work simultaneously then come together.

Booked the Precinct room for my family to do Thanksgiving weekend. It was awesome. Victoria, our game master was so helpful giving us just enough of a clue to help us when stuck but not revealing the answer. All 7 of us had a lot of fun and laughs. Everyone left wanting to come back and do the rest of the escape rooms. read more

First time going and had a blast with my 2 daughters. Clean, inviting, and very fun. Will be back

Great escape room experience! The room decor is really well done. We did the "Noël" room with our two young boys. The puzzles were easy enough for them to be involved but still challenging for the adults. Definitely recommend as a fun activity with family/friends or for team building. read more

Had so much fun here. Might be a place you would walk right by, but don't. Fun date night and it was our first escape

My boyfriend and I came here to try a new date idea today. We've never had any experience with an escape room before. We arrived to timed out and was told we had to make a reservation prior. After explaining that we had taken a long drive for our experience, Rhiannon, the front desk assistant was able to talk to her manager and was able to accommodate us. We were very appreciative. She made us feel safe and relaxed while receiving our instructions for the escape room in addition to being patient with us as we try to sift through the clues. It is understandable why this business has received so many five star reviews: their customer service is impeccable and their escape rooms are very great. I will definitely be back. Thank you for a great experience! read more

We had an excellent time doing the room Depth with our game master Spencer! We were nervous about the room at first since the record for the room was 69:33, but with Spencer's help and rockin' teammates, we were the first team to ever make it out in under an hour! The sets and tech are all done in-house and the production quality is top-notch. Friendly staff, easy booking process, and nice facilities. We will definitely be back to try other rooms here! read more

I really enjoyed my experience at Timed Out. The room was a blast! We did the precinct and it was just two of us. I love the fact that it's way more than what meets the eye.
