Just fantastic! I've played a solid amount of rooms and these were both great experiences. Played saloon and wrecked. Wrecked is the best escape room in the city. Ima talk about that. This game is absolutely delightful. The game flowed SO WELL. The ambiance was just incredible. So many little details. Rainy cold day - perfect place to spend an hour. We chose the "scary" one because we had boys ages 13-16, and three adults and we had a great time. Loved the theme and the rooms. My team played through all four rooms at Masterpiece Escapes, and had a great experience. There were some creative, cerebral puzzles, as well as some great surprises. The owners seem very thoughtful about their rooms, and are truly passionate about their craft. Our top two rooms were "Missing" and "Deadwood Saloon." Both had some unique puzzles and fun twists. We also enjoyed the story that went along with "Missing" - so pay attention!! While "Drained" certainly wasn't the best room we've done by far, we still had a blast doing it. (Do "Missing" or "Deadwood" first though...) "Drained" is actually a very different experience than most Escape Rooms, as there is a live actor inside with you the whole time, acting as a character in the narrative. It's half escape room and half comedy routine! We did "Drained" as the second room of a double-header and it was perfect that way. Our brains were a little fried from just completing "Missing" successfully, so a little lighter room + the comedy was just what we needed. Just bring people who can laugh and take a good joke. And make sure to ask for "Obnoxious Owen" when booking! Overall highly recommend!! Great experience. read more

Escape before you book. They do not like children! My husband and I took our kids to the escape room. We were waiting maybe 10 minutes and the person working there was so rude to my kids. They were not being wild, but also not being calm, but the guy working told us "if your not going to listen to her (meaning me), your going to f-ing listen to me". My friend and I had a great as experience at masterpiece escape! We played deadwood and missing and really enjoyed them. Out of the two rooms, my favorite was missing due to the scary atmosphere and fun puzzles! Deadwood is thought provoking puzzle and great if you're up for a challenge! We really enjoyed talking to the owner as his enthusiasm for escape rooms is Infectious! He even showed us the other rooms and the set design is incredible! He was kind enough to accommodate our schedule which we truly appreciated since we are from out of town. They do special touches for birthdays/grad/anniversary and the owner clearly cares about the customer and the community! Great back story, great puzzles, the room flowed really well, all puzzles worked and made sense. It was challenging, entertaining, and got you fully immersed. I can't recommend this place enough. We visited Masterpiece on a Sunday afternoon. Our group of four paid extra to ensure we could play Deadwood Saloon without any strangers in our room. The owner did a nice job getting us into the theme of the room before entering. The room was well-decorated and had a great variety of puzzles and tasks to complete. We all quite liked the theme and the clues. Our helper communicated to us through a walkie talkie. We've done many escape rooms locally (undefeated!) and we know how to work well together. The guy on the other end of the walkie, though, offered us a ton of unsolicited help. We're not afraid to ask for clues if we feel like we're getting stumped, but we never had the chance to get there before he was giving us tips we didn't ask for. This became frustrating. Additionally, this is the only escape room in the Charlotte area that we've played that didn't have a timer in the room. This made it tough to determine our progress, though I'm sure if we asked our friend with the walkie, he would have given us a time stamp. Overall, we had fun, we made it out, and we would definitely go back to Masterpiece. read more

Got there 5 mins early and didn't have to wait even though it was a fairly busy Saturday. Seems like they have their scheduling set up perfectly. The room (Dr Devastation) was great and the perfect amount of difficulty. We had 1 adult, 3 young teens, and a 10 year old. Holy moly this escape room was the best one we've been to! We did the Missing Room and it did not disappoint. This is one of the most popular rooms so you will want to book ahead of time. The workers really captivate you with the background story so you are really in it, and even give you the follow up on what actually happened in the debriefing. Pretty cool! The manager/owner was super friendly and helpful and answered all of our questions before and after and even asked for input regarding the room we completed (we made it out with seconds to spare. The escape room wasn't as fancy as the other room I completed at a different location, but it was fun to solve with a variety of clues, and puzzles. I really like that there were several different areas to the room we completed. Everything in the room is thought up by and made by the team that works at the escape room. I recommend checking this place out! They have several rooms available at any given time, some which are appropriate for the whole family and others geared more towards a more mature crowd! read more

I went and completed the "missing" room. I had a group of 3 and we finished with just 20 seconds left!! The room was "scary", but not so bad that you can't complete the puzzles. The puzzles were so fun and difficult without being frustrating or overwhelming. The staff is lovely and so helpful, and the rooms are intricate and well decorated! We were looking for last minute date night options and decided to check out Masterpiece Escapes. I made a reservation online for the "Missing" room. It was our first escape room experience so we weren't sure what to expect. The owner was very helpful with our questions before entering the room. We were the only two in this room. We were a little lost at first but he chimed in to give us tips. We struggled towards the end and he actually came in there with us to help point us in the right direction. Stumbled across this escape room since this was something our daughter wanted to do for her 13th birthday. We selected the "Missing" room and it was fantastic!! We were greeted nicely and the kids were allowed to use the restroom prior to our start. He explained thoroughly what we were about to do and also gave an introduction to the room. The experience was fun the whole entire time. He helped us as needed and the hour flew by. It had a few "scary" moments but nothing too crazy. When we finished, he offered to take our photo and closed out the room explaining what happened to Malachi. He was so super friendly! They are creating new rooms over the next couple of months and the kids are already planning our next trip. As a family, we absolutely enjoyed ourselves and I recommend it to anyone wishing to have a great family time. Definitely a must do!! read more
