Quite honestly the worst game experience I've ever had. Games were not fun, interesting, or properly explained. I was bored and frustrated with every single room I went into. They're set up like something you'd see in a Saw movie, but nowhere near as captivating. I literally walked out of some of these game rooms before the time was up because they were that stupid. Not to mention, there's no liquor. I'd have to be pissy drunk off beer and wine to have a good time at this place. Don't listen to the people giving this place 5 stars. Clearly they're paid ambassadors. Please go to puttery, victory lanes, Dave and busters, AMF, spare time, Frankie's, literally anywhere but here. If I could give this place 0 stars I would. But Yelp requires me to give at least one so I'm going to reluctantly let them have it his one star. read more

Their "Caprese" pizza was amazing! We came in thinking that the food would be mediocre at best. But I can't stress enough how great it was. The atmosphere was great! "Parker" was the first person who greeted us, he did an amazing job explaining how everything worked, he was very friendly, and enthusiastic. Seemed like he was genuinely happy to help. When we went to order our food, we were speaking with "Jay" who we later found out was the owner of the establishment. He gave us great recommendations, and was extremely patient with us as we tried to decide what we wanted to order. Definitely a great place, and we will be back again soon! read more

This place is awesome! My bf and I went here during our anniversary while we are intown visiting, and it was a blast even with just us two! This place has a ton of different games you can chose from. Some are even free! The games don't cost much and you can choose how much to spend and get tokens on. They had darts, Pac-Man, a projector Nintendo 64 emulator with like 200 games on it., and so much more. Plus's they have escape rooms in the back! They give you wrist bands for loading up on beer/wine/ciders so you can drink while you play games. They also had a list of appetizers you can eat in between playing. The workers were super friendly and explained everything well. Overall it was a great experience, we want to come back with a group of friends next time we're in town. Such a fun experience! When you come in you pay at the front. If you have a large group they will split you guys up into different teams because the rooms are pretty small. The entire experience was great, some rooms were difficult I'm determined to go back and figure them out. You can play multiple times in a day, they have a cool hangout spot in the front while you wait - pool table, ping pong, cider tap, floor games etc. read more

District 57 is a disappointing and overpriced entertainment complex in Charlotte. The games are boring, outdated, and poorly maintained. The Grid is a 30-room challenge arena that is supposed to transport you to a dystopian 2097, but it feels more like a cheap escape room with low-quality props and puzzles1. The arcade games are mostly old classics like pool, ping pong, foosball, Pac Man, and darts2. They charge you by the minute or by the game, which adds up quickly. The laser tag area, Bordertown, was not even open when we visited3. My teenage children were not impressed or entertained by any of the games. They said they had more fun playing video games at home. read more

Best time we have had in a long time!!! Great, exciting, quick, can find a role for everyone in the group. The building is very well cleaned, has exciting visuals and will wear you out in a good way! The staff is amazing and attentive. I started with a groupon voucher but ended up adding more time because we had that much fun. It had everything from a clue type room to a room where you had to kick balls through certain holes for points. My brothers and I love escape rooms and whenever we meet up we put it on our list of things to do. However, after playing "The Grid" an escape room will never be the same! This place was awesome!! It had physical, mental and trivial challenges. There are like 30 rooms that have an individual game in each room. Could be like a Simon says game, kicking a ball, tossing balls, answering riddles of who done it, sensors that you can't go higher than. Was so much fun!! Highly recommend the 1.5 hours as it will fly by. We ended up with only beating 7 rooms and getting 220 points; however, the worker said beforehand that 150 was good. I would also recommend workout clothes and plan to sweat. read more

I like that some of the challenges are physical and some are mental (or a combination of both) and everyone gets to participate which makes it so much better than an escape room. A classic recreational concept, executed in a unique and proprietary manner. District 57 has redefined the standard for escape rooms, laser tag, and the overall 'family-based activities' experience. As a Charlotte native who was visiting some old friends, I had no idea what to expect when I journeyed to District 57 for the first time. There is something for every member of your party. GREAT IDEA, POORLY EXECUTED The pros: The idea is innovative, and the presentation is extremely well done. The cons: Most of the puzzles are incredibly difficult to the point of being more frustrating than fun. We went in with a team of 3 very experienced escape room alumni, (each of us having more than 30 wins under out belts, usually working as a team) but these rooms were mostly designed to be unwinnable on your first (or second) time around, no matter how good you are. I understand the business model here is to bring people back again and again, and that's fine, but we are from out of town and wouldn't be able to go back again any time soon even if we wanted to, which I really don't. If we did go back we'd have to redo all the rooms we finished in addition to the ones we didn't finish in order to get a decent score. Who wants to do that? And many of the rooms were virtually impossible...for example, you might have to reach your hand through an opening so small that some people's hands just wouldn't possibly fit though. I lost some skin on my wrist in one of them. For some people it just wouldn't be possible at all. And the time limits are just incredibly short...One some rooms just a minute or two and your time is up. The instructions are generally very vague, and it takes 30 seconds to a minute or more of your time just to read and understand them, and by then your room time is almost up. To me the allure of these kinds of things is the chance to excel and succeed, at least a moderate portion of the time. This is not the case here. The employee told us that most groups starting out will not score more than about 100-150 points on their first try. That's out of 1000 points total. So you are almost guaranteed to fail about 90 percent of the time, no matter how prepared you are. We scored 190, so we did better than most, and still walked out having lost drastically more challenges than we won. To me, that's not fun. It's frustrating. I think with a few tweaks and a little less intentional difficulty, this could be a really fun place. As it is now, not so much. read more
