The staff are very kind and will cater your experience to the level of creepy you want. This is a review for the escape enthusiasts out there. If you have a few games under your belt, this is not for you. The ZOE room has very few puzzles and relies heavily on darkness to prevent you from doing things too quickly. Everyone is sharing a single candle for light, so the majority of your time will be spent fumbling around looking for objects or sitting around in the darkness while one person works on a puzzle. There are no 'ah ha' moments or group puzzle solving opportunities. The experience is akin to what you will get at a haunted house. If you like haunted houses maybe you will like this! read more

Zoe was possibly one of the most disappointing experiences of my year. To begin with the positives of this experience: Vee and Avi were both fantastic hosts for our game, I appreciate their hospitality and charm. We had one player that required accommodations that changed the gameplay a small bit, IE. no use of the shock pen, no violent use of force (but some force permitted). They obliged fully and never judged any of our requests. Thank you both! The escape room was terrible. I do escape rooms regularly all over the West Coast and Zoe's reputation was notorious for being well-liked and truly scary. I was excited walking in. Only to be thrust into an un-atmospheric, bare-bones, non-interactive disappointment of an escape room. I honestly feel like I am going crazy seeing so many positive reviews for this room. In short: if you enjoy scary rooms that are immersive with fully developed lore, do NOT go to Zoe. Yes, you will get chased around, but the actor will chase you into the next place you have to go rather than keeping you from your destination. Since the horror isn't scary enough, relying on the puzzles alone is also a bust because they are overly-simplistic. If you are looking for an immersive live actor escape room experience, do the Weeping Witch at Crossroads Escape Room. read more

This was one of the most creative and by far the scariest escape room I've ever been to! I went in for the Halloween version of the game this past weekend and it was the perfect Halloween/ Horror experience. Never would I think in a million years that I would be placed in and carried in a body bag, or being chased Down hallways by monsters. And just when you thought the game was over, another actor comes out of nowhere to chase you out of the ending with a chainsaw. I've been to so many theme park haunts and this was by far a much scarier experience. I saw a group of kids go in before us and I can only imagine how they did. Not only was it terrifying, the puzzles were really creative and a lot of fun to complete. When we finished the room it was so scary and challenging I felt like I had accomplished something. On top of the amazing experience I was so delighted and relieved to see how nice and accommodating the staff was. Our Gamemaster Vee helped guide us thru the game, she was so funny and helpful, and may I add patient, it was so difficult for our group to solve the puzzles and challenges while scared out of our minds. I really felt like she was scared for us too. We also got to meet the hosts/ creators of the game Christina and Jorin while we were there and they were such a nice young couple, I could really see the effort and time they put into this room, I highly recommend this escape room whether you've done 100 or are new to escape rooms, or if you're just looking for a good scare or are a fan or horror. I'm also looking forward to going back to try their classic version of the escape room. I loved this game! read more

I'm glad that Zoe was my first escape room. The owners are awesome! Your game guide will go through the rules before you begin and also offer tips. As long as you follow the biggest tip -don't freeze- you'll be fine. They've created a one of kind immersive experience for you and anyone else you bring along. It is definitely nerve wracking, but worth it once you find your way out. My biggest tip after going through this experience is do not tap out before starting. ONE of the SCARIEST Escape rooms we have done! Andrew & Vivian were the best!! We all went in thinking it couldn't be as scary as some people mentioned, it was way scarier. We all banded together (literally wouldn't leave each other's sides) to get through some of the puzzles. Of course opening the door every time to run would leave us all screaming every person for themselves! To the owners of Escapade, We were very disappointed with our experience at your venue on Friday, May 28.  After a 2-hour drive during holiday weekend traffic, a group six of us arrived early our 6:30pm Zoe escape room . This was to be our first group outing in over a year. We were welcomed with a sign on the door telling us that the bathrooms at the venue were not in service. We knock for ten minutes straight and finally the woman with the purple hair opened the door. She mentioned that the Wifi was being reset and that we'd have time to drive to the nearby grocery store for a bathroom break.  Though, she snarkily informed us that if it wasn't for the Wifi being restarted, that we would not have time to go to the bathroom. What a warm welcome that was! We returned a few minutes later, knock for another 7 minutes, and are once again greeted by the same rude girl. She now tells us that the Wifi is out completely and that the games are run on Russian servers and some combination of those two facts means we can't play Zoe. She didn't even apologize for any of this. In fact, she goes on to tell us that SHE is just as inconvenienced as we are. We explain that we invested FOUR hours of drive-time to do this room, but she still showed zero empathy, and continues to tell us this experience is such a hassle for her. She presents us with two, and only two, options. They can either put us in their other room - The Last Experiment - OR they could rebook us for Zoe at a later date. There was not a single mention of a refund. What we suggested - which we felt was more than fair - was for us to play The Last Experiment - and then to book Zoe at a later date, which we expected them to comp us for. It seemed like a solution that would come from a Customer Relations 101 handbook, we felt. But, no. They absolutely would not entertain that idea. They could not fathom the fact that we were asking to be compensated for the inconvenience. She kept repeating, in shock, "You want to do TWO rooms for FREE?!" as if she didn't realize we already paid for Zoe. A second worker had to take over the conversation from that point, and was far more aggressive, but just as rude. Being that this was going nowhere, we agreed to play the other room, and mentioned that we'd take up the issue of a refund with the owners after the fact. They tried to tell us that we weren't allowed to reach out to the owners for a refund. They said they needed "2 minutes" to reset the room and we agreed to wait. Literally 20 minutes passed by and they still didn't return to the door. We knocked several times and they returned to the door as if they were meeting us for the first time. They then, in a bizarre twist of events, explained to us that it would just take them "2 minutes" to reset the room. But we had this exact conversation 20 minutes ago. At that point, we just had to give up and leave. This goes down as one of the most terrible customer relations encounters we've ever experienced - it's almost unfathomable how this place is in business. This venue should be embarrassed on so many levels. I get that people might be intrigued by the claim that this is one of the scariest escape rooms around, but you should consider supporting other rooms in the area where the workers are well-trained, respectful and professional. We left not knowing who or what "Zoe" is, but we'll certainly have nightmares about our encounter with your two employees. It would be really lovely if we could get a response and perhaps the refund we have requested several times now. read more

So much fun!!!! My party and I went Saturday at 9:30 and it was the scariest most fun experience!! My bf had never done an escape room and I wanted to make sure he had the best experience and he certainly did! WOW we couldn't stop talking about it after! Andrew was an amazing scare actor not at all aggressive, he had great timing and was very entertaining. Fair warning it is hot in there so I don't recommend a third piece or a long sleeve, you will be moving around quite a bit. They recently had a change of ownership, I'm so sorry I don't remember their name but it's a lovely couple. The husband took so much time to explain everything before the game and answered any of our questions after the game, both super friendly. I can't wait until the next maze opens up, I'll be first in line!! Seriously guys such a fun experience! read more

Thrilling escape room in Fullerton! The location is a little tricky to find. The escape room looks like it is in an abandoned, white building. It has its own parking lot & the entrance is at the parking lot. You have to scan the code on the door in order to sign the waiver. Inside, it it creepy. Dimly lit, scary music playing, they definitely have the aesthetics down! The entire house is the escape room. We did Zoe before in Las Vegas & we were not impressed. We heard this one was "very different" compared to the LV one, but unfortunately, it was pretty much the same puzzles & storyline. Nonetheless, we did feel that the room was presented better at this location. Our group had a great time! Communicate & look through everything! & do not let your freight keep you from playing the game. read more

This escape room is one of the BEST escape rooms I have been to. I'm not a fan of scary movies or horror movies. So I was pretty nervous for the whole thing. Even the restroom was scary lol. However, Avi was awesome to let us reduce the level of horror. He was very helpful and understanding. My teammate and I both forgot our glasses so we were provided with 2 candles. It helped a lot through the whole experience. We picked this place in random, not planned for this trip at all. Thankful to have a smart & understanding teammate as well! read more

Hi everyone, Escape room enthusiast here with about 80+ completed rooms throughout OC and LA area. (About 50 of those rooms were horror themed, including Murder Co. in Upland and Hex Room and Weeping Witch in Anaheim). Tonight, Feb 7, 2023, was my 3rd playthrough of Zoe with some new friends (other two playthroughs were on Mar 11, 2018 and Jan 11, 2020). Game master: Avi Actor: Winston Owner: Christina I am sad to say that the quality of this once-great experience has significantly declined over the years. I wish I could give ZERO stars. Initially, our GM Avi was informative and receptive. But problems happened as soon as we entered: 1. MAJOR SAFETY HAZARDS -sharp rusty nails inside one of the unlockable chests -broken doors: one wasnt opening and we had to squeeze through half a doorway, another door kept opening by itself and we got penalized for using it, another door had splinters and one of our team got cut on his wrist (we have pictures). -significantly less light-- on previous playthroughs we had at least 4 light sources. This time it was 1 measly light source for the entire game. And it was taken away at one point. 2. ACTOR TOUCHING At first we thought it was great that there were "difficulty modes". Because we had some novice players in the group, we chose "Easy mode"--which we were told meant *NO TOUCHING BY THE ACTOR. We specifically clarified with Avi that we DID NOT WANT TO BE TOUCHED, and he acknowledged it. As soon as we entered the room, we got shoved, pulled, pushed, and pinned to the walls. Even when we said out loud, "Hey, arent we playing EASY MODE? No touching?" Avi and Winston were in the room when we said this, but they did not listen. Throughout the experience, there was touching. One teammate got pinned to the wall, and while running away was also grabbed by the ankle, so he literally tripped all over the floor. Another teammate (he had a solo task at this point in the game) was shoved to the floor and was told to beg on his knees and take off one of his shoes (like wth?) I understand it's a horror escape room, and yes I've done quite a few including the *intense Murder Co (where Winston was apparently from), but what is unclear about "NO TOUCHING" ? Avi said it was only Winston's second day on the job, but dude, was there no communication on what EASY MODE/NO TOUCHING meant???? Training/orientation? And even when we literally said out loud in the room "NO TOUCHING", why did it happen? It's just not what we signed up for. Even during the debrief after we escaped, Winston said he *KNEW we were on EASY mode. He denied the touching, saying "When did I touch you?" I used to be sooo hyped to recommend this room to friends and newcomers to the escape room community. But that is no longer the case. read more

This is about as far as my group got. Placed an order 6 weeks ago, recieved an email confirmation right away. However, showed up today to celebrate my buddy's birthday and only made it to this door. When we arrived there was another group here with the same room time as us. Though apparently their order was in the system an ours wasnt. The long haired employee let the other group in and told our group that he does not know why our time was removed and said we can come back today at 11pm if you are in the area. Asked for a refund and he told us to send an email with our order number. Hopefully the refund wont get misplaced like our order. read more

Worst experience I have ever had in any "entertainment" based Horror experience I've done. The people over the phone and in person were not forthcoming about the "touching". They said it would be to guide us from room to room (they did not mention dragging, pushing us to the floor, or putting someone in a body bag). I understand not wanting to spoil anything part of the room, but not being honest with paying customers and purposely being deceptive because you can sense we aren't okay with something is NOT okay and NOT the way you do activities that should require explicit consent. Also, the "story" and "puzzles" were all over the place and didn't make much logical sense at all (there was no "Zoe" in our experience, so I guess she isn't really reborn). Each member of my party left with a bruise or scratch or sore muscles (not something we were told about beforehand and not something we would have been okay with had we known). Very unprofessional and, ultimately, not very scary or fun. The whole experience was obnoxious and cringe worthy. Not to mention, people in the group were targeted multiple times and it seemed like they were consistently being targeted due to their race and sex/gender. Totally NOT OKAY. Do not recommend this at all to anyone. I genuinely hope they go out of business for the sake of people's mental and physical safety. EDIT: The business Manager's response just proves my point about the unprofessionalism. We attempted to do our "research" (as she so condescendingly put it) by asking you questions and we were given partial truths and purposefully ambiguous information. Trying to act like you're the victim here and say we don't support small businesses is just a scapegoat. We didn't like it because it was a bad escape room run by a bad (apparently very insecure) business... not cuz we have it out for small businesses. Furthermore, none of us are hiding behind a phone screen... we felt uncomfortable when leaving because we were literally lied to before the game started, which is why we didn't say much and just felt awkward when leaving... why would we feel comfortable sharing any of our thoughts with people who blatantly misled us? I think you need to have a more distinct waiver system that lays out what will happen physically so that people can back out beforehand if they aren't okay with certain touching. Yelling and pushing people to the floor and dragging them isn't scary, it's just rude and abusive. read more

I did Zoe here a few days back, loved it! The puzzles were extremely easy, but the immersiveness and fun of the room is amazing. My only complaint was the fact that I did this room during Covid times, ruining the experience a bit. Supposedly, they didn't have all the actors and all the puzzles. Still, a solid 8.5 or 9 for Zoe and 10/10 in enjoyability! I'd suspect this room would be a flawless 10 during non-Covid times when all actors and puzzles are available. read more
