Phud thai with tofu
Camilla A.

Ordered pad Thai and when he showed me, it looked dry and bland so I asked for extra crushed peanuts and lime slices and he said he couldn't give it to me because he doesn't use that (ate it at the taproom next door who gave me a lime thankfully). He said the noodles were authentic but just looked like spaghetti to me. The dish wasn't bad but it wasn't what I would consider pad thai. And the price was higher than what was listed on the website. Won't be going back.

Small restaurant tucked away in the heart of Denver that makes truly remarkable Thai cuisine that is fresh and made upon order

The food here was a let down. Every time that I drove down 8th ave I would see this restaurant from the corner of my eye and get excited to try it. Now that I have gone I am disappointed overall. The food was quite different from what I had expected from a hidden dive Thai restaurant. The owner/old man was able to up-sell me on the dumplings. Thee dumplings were pretty standard. They tasted store bought, a sweet thick brown sauce was added over the top. When the owner came out and asked me for my order I ordered the Pad See Ew. My request was that I wanted my food to be hot and not Thai hot. he told me that he would make it hot. When he completed the food It didn't have the dark brown color from the sweet soy sauce that it usually is mixed with. This time the food was light and sweet but not salty with soy or spicy. The owner set down a small bowl of oil and diced jalapeño I guess this was to make it spicy. It wasn't. We briefly talked about the food and traveling to Thailand. The owner was happy that I ate it all because it was "so spicy", he said that I would fit into Thai culture well because all the food is spicy. I paid and left. Unless I am really hungry again and want good conversation I don't see my self going back to Erawan unfortunately. Honestly I have had better Thai food in town. The owner/old man is really great though.

Normally little "divey" type Thai places are the best hidden gems when it comes to Thai Food. I really wanted to love this place but in reality it was just OK. The food was fine, nothing really special and they don't even have the Thai hot sauce (they do have Sriracha but that's very "American") Art helped us with our meals and we chatted about Thailand after and he was awesome. The prices here were very very reasonable so because of those I'll probably be back but with tempered expectations.

Erawan's Tidbits - Egg Roll, BBQ Pork, Cheese Wonton, Veggie Tempura
Natalie D.

Oh my gosh! I truly wanted to like this place and give a stellar review especially since the owner/cook is such a sweetheart. But the inexcusable part is that the food was beyond mediocre plus the owner is the cook and AND the server AND the order taker. When he's cooking no one gets served, etc. So my to-go order of tempura veggies, Pad Thai and Sweet & Sour Chicken took 45min!! Once home I discovered that my Pad Thai noodles were spaghetti noodles with black pepper for spice. Plus it was oily. The Sweet Sour Chicken was super doughy...and the batter was sweet almost like pancake batter. The veggie tempura included ALL sweet potato, no other veggies like mushrooms or onions. The dishes were SO bad that we had to dump $30 worth of food and grab something elsewhere. I should have trusted my instincts. I never see anyone inside this restaurant. That's usually a clue. There was nothing authentic about my dishes!

Thai-style chicken fried rice

I was hesitant after reading the reviews but decided to take the plunge. The owner was very friendly when he took my order. I ordered the egg rolls and the Thai-style chicken fried rice. I can see what people have said before about the egg rolls being doughy. They did seem like the right kind of doughy in terms of homemade dough, but the filling was thoroughly lacking. The sauce was something I'd never encountered before. It seemed like a mix between sweet and sour sauce and mustard. It had a nice sweet kick, but I was a bit confused. The fried rice was okay. The flavors were a bit muted, and my fried rice was definitely not "hot" in terms of spice level which I requested. It all tasted fresh but didn't have the flavors I was hoping for. I'll give this place another try, but this was not the most exciting first taste of what they have to offer.

This tiny gem is hidden on the corner of 8th Ave and run by the kindest older Thai gentleman, Art. Art said he started this place with his late wife in 1979 and has seen so many iterations of Denver throughout the years. My partner got the phud se lew and was super impressed. It was the perfect combination of salty and sweet and Art came over to give her jalapeño to create her own level of spicy-ness. I ordered the lamb panaang curry. The coconut base was particularly good. We finished the meal off with the sticky mango rice, a first for both of us, and boy were we glad we did! The sticky rice was so delicious and warm and perfectly complimented the chilled ripe mango. Art chatted with us for a few minutes about Thai desserts, the history of his business, how he got into cooking and found his passion. I'm not sure when was the last time I had such a unique and rewarding dining experience. Another couple in the restaurant clearly knew Art after many years of being loyal customers and I think we might have unwittingly joined the cult of Art. For every fancy hot new restaurant you try in Denver, you should spend an evening with Art as well.

Things have changed at 8th and Colorado except this small eatery. It has been here 40 years. It has remodeled inside but basically is the same. I used to eat here in the 80's when I was a young man. Great cheap food, it was my first thai resturaunt and my first phad thai. Same owner still, sadly is wife has died. So 35 yrs later i come back. I had the eggroll & phad thai...the same tasty treats as I remembered them. I must not wait another 35 years. Parking on 8th ave or a small lot in back. Long live Erawan.

It looked/tasted like 2 day old left overs with human teeth bites in it. I wouldn't feed it to my dog.

I reviewed this place four years ago after dining here for the first time. Well, fast forward…read morenearly half a decade and it's become our favorite Thai restaurant. I have actually looked into how to make khao soi and those little corn fritters because my husband loves Aloy so much it is resulting in an expensive delivery habit. We usually share the corn fritters and fried green beans to start. The pad see ew is a favorite, and I love all of their curries. Please don't make me choose a favorite. Maybe green? I've never been unhappy with a classic pad Thai from here either. My husband gets the bison khao soi every time. He is obsessed.

Service was great, even though our server had a huge table right next to us she never let us feel unattended, food came out quick and she checked on us multiple times. As for the food, we started with the duck wontons, which were crispy and beautifully topped. The bison noodle soup was interesting, not what I would usually go for but did not disappoint! The meat didn't taste gamey and was actually super tender My absolute favorite was the mago sticky rice, just a fantastic amount of sweet, not so overpowering that you couldn't taste the individual flavors and I really appreciated that they let you pour the sweetened half and half yourself for better control on sweetness

SUCH yummy Thai food right under my nose! This place is…read morepretty big and right on the main part of Platt Street so there's lots of parking and it's very accessible. I came in with no reservation on a Thursday night and I believe we had to wait about 10 minutes for a table, but it was so worth it. It's decorated very well, with an authentic clean and fancy feeling, even though it's hard to really get fancy in Denver Although they were so many things on the menu, I wanted to try, I love a good khao soy so I had to give that a shot first. It was so good and the portions are so generous. I also started with the iceberg lettuce appetizer, which was yummy like a salad and we had the mango sticky rice to finish it all off. The mango was perfectly ripe and sweet and in season, this is one of my favorite desserts, and I was so lucky to get it at this time of year

I used to really like this place but it has gone downhill over the past year or so…read more Recent negative experiences on my last two visits have included mushy noodles and rubbery flavorless shrimp. For as expensive as everything is, you'd think they would have the money to hire actual photographers or graphic designers for their promotional material but unfortunately they've also gone the AI slop route, which, to be honest, matches the overall experience as well. Soulless and lacking flavor.

A simply fantastic birthday meal. Unforgettable…read more Ginger Pig is one of the places I'm most excited to visit again in Denver.

How this restaurant earned the attention of Michelin Bib Gourmand, I do not know nor agree. I loved…read morethe ambiance, cozy space and the staff was exceptional but to much surprise the food severely lacked the warmth and flavors I was hoping for. Order: 1. nam jim crab cheese wontons ($16) 2. kkanpunggi - korean fried chicken ($23) 3. xinjiang yang rou - cumin lamb stir fry ($26) 4. "have you eaten?" chef special ($28) 5. cucumber salad ($2.50) which we were told came with the korean fried chicken. 6. 6% support fee ? no explanation and no warning. 1. Lacked flavor depth. If I was to pinch a crab and pull out a penny sized chunk of meat and wrap it in cheese it would still contain more substance than this dish. The nam jim sauce was overpowered by fish sauce and left no room for the foundational flare of the sauce like the herbs, chili, sugar or even the lime juice to flourish. 2. Lacked flavor, poor breading, fatty pieces of chicken. This beautiful classic dish is also suppose to be balanced, but alas was swallowed by a sharp garlic taste. Don't get me wrong, I love garlic but no other ingredients were noted. The gochujang barely peeked through in the beginning but slowly ran for the hills a bite or two in leaving my mouth only smelling and tasting like fresh garlic. This dish should also have chicken double or triple fried but the single layer of batter on the chicken, which seemed to shortly touch the oil, was squishy and falling off. This dish contained a handful of chicken pieces and accompanied by a to-go container of undercooked, cold rice... 3. My grandfather thought this dish was balanced well, he enjoyed the spice heat of the dish. The cilantro portion on this dish once again overpowered the cumin and the lamb. The stir fry potion was done moderately, none of the chile's in this dish were roasted before (which in my opinion leaves behind a ton of flavor). This dish could've easily been a stir fry without the amount of oil left in the bottom of the bowl after the meal. The green onion and pepper made no appearances and was also served with an additional undercooked cold to-go container of rice. 4. The chef was in the mood for a frozen salmon 'poke bowl'. The poke sauce was a good, simple sauce with onions, nothing out of the ordinary. What made me not finish half my bowl was the temperature the salmon was served. Almost as if a scoop of salmon was prepped onto a sheet, placed in a freezer, freezer burned, then was given 20 minutes to sit out and be plated next to, again.. undercooked, cold rice. I bit into the salmon and the center was still frozen in every single piece. This dish was not a "whatever the chef is in the mood to cook you when he gets the order" type of dish as I was led to believe. I am a huge fan of poke but to serve frozen fish pieces is almost a disrespect to the foundations of the dish. 5. I loved the cucumber salad, I am not sure what they put in it but it was delish. 6. I eat in denver often and rarely come across a 6% fee for support. If it is for healthcare for workers I love that but at least tell us why on the receipt or something. All-in-all the restaurant social experience was superb. Staff was friendly and attentive, ambiance was more than I expected in regards to decorating and setting a 'vibe' but the restaurant does not know what it is (which artistically I respect) but the food paid the price on account of this establishments uncertainty. 2/5 stars.

I love the intimate, warm atmosphere and the many plants at the front of the restaurant. Another nice touch: I swear water tastes better from the stainless steel cups that Lucky Noodles uses. Onto the food: the Khao Soi is where it's at! We got two. They were so good and super flavorful. The fried chicken is a nice touch. I think this dish would be even better on a chilly day - I'm looking forward to returning in the late fall and winter! I also appreciate that mild is truly mild (I could taste the coconut milk, not chilis - yay!). I'm excited to try the pork roti and curry puffs on a future trip. Prices are a little high IMO, but entree prices are roughly in line with those at other Thai restaurants in the city. And it's worth it to support this small business.

The chicken fried rice was a clear win at an 8.5/10. The pad see ew was also really good and probably my favorite. The pad thai arrived a shade of orange previously unknown to science, but against all odds, it was actually pretty good. 7/10. The drunken noodles were okay, although the noodles felt a little undercooked to me. Crab rangoons were a respectable 6/10. The egg rolls arrived cold and extremely oily. They tasted good, but spiritually they had been through something. Portions were VERY generous for the price, so no complaints there. The restaurant was cute and they had the Zara Larsson dolphin artwork, which I personally consider an important cultural contribution. It was also incredibly loud inside. Not music loud, just the collective power of approximately 50 people all having something important to say at once. Service started off impressively fast. Getting the check, however, became a long-term goal. At some point I accepted that I lived there now. Parking on a Friday night was an act of psychological warfare, but I did choose to go out on a Friday, so I have nobody to blame but myself and perhaps urban planning. Overall, good food, huge portions, and a few standouts, but nothing life-changing. Glad I tried it. Would I come back? Maybe. Would I battle Friday night parking to do it? The investigation remains ongoing.
