Ready for the summer thanks to Jose and the Epoxy Masters team. I had a few projects going on at my house that I needed to get done before summer got here, and I thought this one was going to be the most stressful. It was in fact the opposite. I met with a couple contractors and I noticed everyone was just trying to upsell me on everything. The most expensive quote i received - the guy didn't even talk about the process, he just told me how it would look afterward, and then tried upselling me on future maintenance etc. When I met Jose I had a good vibe right away and he was very easy to talk to. Not only was he competitive on pricing, but he jumped in right away to explain the process; we talked about the layering of the materials, epoxy, flakes, polyaspartic, etc., timing; general maintenance and care, and answered all my questions such as how the expansion joints are impacted etc. The process took under 2 weeks, and that's only because there were a couple of days we thought it might rain and we paused to be cautious of that. Other than that they had the concrete grinded in about 2 days and between the first and final layers it was about a weeks time of work for this incredible transformation. My biggest peeve in life is promptness and communication. I can't stand when people don't communicate, send texts and tell you when they're running late, and communicate in general. Jose was on top of everything, always letting me know what's happening, texting me photos of the work in progress on the days I was at work, texting me if they needed to re-arrange some time on a certain day, etc. To me that's the most important thing next to the actual work itself. My garage floor had cracks and would leak to the space below if water got in the garage during heavy rain. I reached out to Jose who was very transparent with the process. Explained how he would approach the job and when prepping the floor would grind down the cracks to level then and fill so no water could enter before applying the 4150 epoxy primer sealer which blocks 15lbs of moisture. I picked a 1/4 smoke colour for the epoxy with a paint chip broadcast. Jose and his team were very thorough prepping the first day. Every chip or crack sealed to dry over night. After checking on the internet and learning a little about epoxy coating, I searched Yelp. I was looking to epoxy coat my outdoor barbecue countertop. I measured it at approximately 42 square feet. I found many garage floor pictures and reviews, and maybe one other mention of countertops. I thought maybe it wasn't a good idea. Then I saw Epoxy Masters on Yelp. I called and talked with Jose. I specifically asked about UV inhibitor because I learned it was very necessary, particularly if you choose a light color. We set up an appointment so he could see the job. My countertop had small cracks and was colored in a medium brown color. It has always bothered me to look at it. Jose came out and looked over the job. He answered all my questions to my satisfaction and I gave him a deposit for $500 on the spot. Jose ordered my materials (the plastic chips are custom cut by size). I chose medium size. The supplier had a mix up which set us back a day or two. We scheduled the job, but due to weather concerns (rain/wind), we had to reschedule. On said date Jose arrived and began work. He is a hard worker and completed the initial job by himself. Basically it involved: preparing the surface by sanding and cleaning it; application of epoxy coat; applying custom cut (1/8") plastic chips; application of two coats of clear coat with UV inhibitor. The result was amazing. From weathered, faded, and cracked to shiny new. It almost resembles granite. I paid the man, so happy with the new look. After researching a little more, I decided to go with another coat for added protection. I liked that Jose asked me if I wanted to wait until later, after it weathered. That tells me that he is not all about the money. I decided against it. Basically the counter was sanded down smooth and a final clear coat was applied. I just love the look and so does everyone that visits the house because you walk right by it. I will also mention that Jose's price was below what I found the work should cost doing my research . I could not be more pleased with Jose's work in my three car garage. He was so accomodating to my schedule and needs. I have a great deal of heavy shop equipment on the single car side and so needed the job to be done in two phases and I wanted to help to move this shop equipment from one side to the other and back. Most contractors that I contacted would not do a job in two phases, much less help me move my equipment. Since there was no level, secure place to store my shop equipment while the epoxy set, this ruled them out completely. One was willing to do the job on two different days, but would not move the shop equipment, meaning that I would have to hire some day laborers into my garage, something I wanted to avoid. But Jose was supportive right from the beginning. He agreed to do the job in two parts, separated by three days so that the single car side could competely harden before my shop equipment was moved back over there. He agreed to move my equipment and did so with care and diligence. In the end, you cannot even tell where the coating done one day on the single car side joins with the coating done days later on the two car side. They merge perfectly. His guys very methodically sanded the floor and filled the inevitable cracks in the cement foundation. They very carefully laid the epoxy layer, the color chips, and a few hours later the polyspartic coating. All this happened during short dry periods between the torrential rains we had this last spring. Jose was very diligent and flexible, working his schedule to fit both my needs and those times when the work could be done given the weather. The net result is a totally professional beautiful wall-to-wall floor coating. I could not be more pleased. Two recommendations for you considering this in your garages. First of all, definitely get the polyspartic coating on top. It is much harder, shinier and more chemical resistant. It will last much longer. I asked Jose for an extra coating layer which he did for a very reasonable added cost. It was worth it. Second, the installer must sand your original concrete floor to prepare it for the epoxy and make sure they get a firm bond. This creates a great deal of dust and no matter how close they run a vacuum near the large floor sander, this dust will get absolutely everywhere, even six feet off the ground. I highly recommend that you remove even things that are not on the floor so that you do not later have an enormous dusting challenge. Jose very helpfully put up some plastic to cover some of my storage area, but the dust still got everywhere. read more

I have a really old one car garage that I'm remodeling. The cement floor was a mess with old linoleum glue, cracks, and divets from subfloor that had been nailed into it. My vision was to create a Japanese Kintsugi style garage floor, where the cracks would be filled in with a gold epoxy and the concrete would be finished with a sealer.
