I feel terrible about leaving a negative review but Epik Burger was not "epik" at all. The menu looks great and cheap. The options are endless. Great place for gluten free and vegan friendly. Welcoming atmosphere and staff. You can see the seasoning in the burgers but you can't taste it. I ordered the Hawaiian Locals Burger that had Spam, fried egg, soy sauce and green onions. I don't recall green onions being on it and it was terribly salty. I forgot that you have to order cheese on the burgers if you want it, but that was my fault. I asked that my egg be cooked hard and my burger came out with yellow goo just spewing out of it. Sweet potato fries were good, but that had a little too much salt and pepper on them for my liking. Onions rings were crispy but were so thin that it was greasy and had little taste. I tried the parmesan truffle fries that were served in a paper bag. i understand that they toss them in the bag but when you put hot fries in a paper bag and close it, the steam will seep back into the fries and make them soggy. Couldn't really taste the truffle, which was disappointing for me, since it was my first truffle experience. Also, I am aware that fries are greasy food because they are fried in grease but when you see all that grease accumulate at the bottom of the bag, it's kind of disturbing. Don't know if I'll be back, but I'm a strong supporter of small business, especially food businesses (check my waistline, it'll tell ya) so I'll give them some time to work out the kinks and we'll see. read more

I can't believe it took us so long to notice this place open so close to our house!! We stopped in here for a late dinner and it was awesome. The owner is super nice and ready to answer any questions you have. I had the Greek Burger and it was perfection!! My hubby had the mushroom burger and he loved his as well. We also had to check out their shakes and those were yummy as well! I love that they serve them in a "normal" size so that you don't feel like you have to finish a gallon of ice cream. There are about 10 more burgers on their menu that I need to try so I'm certain we will become regulars here! read more

The best burger place in Jax hands down! It is my go to burger place. They have the most unique burgers and every single one Ive tried has been absolutely delicious. My personal favorite is the Epik BBQ burger with their fries and their signature fry sauce. The only downside I would say is the place is small and its always packed so its hard to find somewhere to sit. But you can always take it to go! read more

In the "You get what you pay for" world of today, this was outstanding. I ordered the Old Skool Big Burger (6 oz), cooked rare, regular fries and a Coke. She ordered a Thai Chicken Burger, Sweet Potato fries and Powerade thing to drink. The burger was cooked perfectly, the fries were outstanding and Coke fizzy and tasted correct (not always a given with fountain drinks). I'll go again. Place was clean at 9 p.m.. This is a welcome change from the fast food restaurant burgers for sure. It's an entirely different animal than the Hardee's or Wendy's right across the street but well worth it in my warped, biased opinion. Met the owner at the end. Seems as if he sincerely cares. Had high hopes for this place. Great concept...horrible execution. Way too long of a wait for a place that has so many people behind the counter, I know they just opened but it seems that not a single employee has worked in a restaurant before. I think that with some attention to little details this place could become much better. Overall the taste combinations work, only having tried two different burgers This could be premature, but the thing that took the burger down from an 8 to a 3 was the bun. What is called a baguette turned out to be a soft and somewhat stale hoagie roll. The wheat bun is similar to a publix wheat hamburger roll and also somewhat stale. Again the combinations are good but the bun took so much away. The onion rings while greasy as hell were some of the best I have ever had, however when a friend tried them the next day at the restaurant when he went his reaction was that they were the worst he had experienced. I guess this place needs some time to grow into itself but with the chef creating such a unique and eclectic menu he seems to have forgotten to pay equal attention to choosing a good bakery as well as training a staff to be competent. read more

Terrible!!! Went there today (7/17/14 around noon) and got a horrible meal. Soggy onion rings, bland burgers and the worst part was there was a hair in the parmesan truffle fries. We brought it up to their attention and nobody in the kitchen wanted to take responsibility for it and they even had the nerve to insinuate we planted it in there to get a free meal. No management came to speak to us or anything. This place is a joke. We didn't even finish eating and just left that chit there. All this place want is your money, they dont care about the customers. Food here is great. Ordered through Uber eats but didn't get an order of fries for my daughter. Called them up and told them the situation. She shouted to a worker there who said, "yup I definitely put them in there." She said that was it, her employee says he did it and to call Uber about the issue. Ok, first, good on her for backing her employee. But everyone makes mistakes. You're really going to blame a driver?? The bag was sealed. So the Uber Eats driver opened the bag, stole the fries then re-sealed it? And she wouldn't budge on the issue. Finally she asked what did I want?? How about just a simple apology? How about not accuse a hard working delivery driver of theft or me of lying? I just paid like $30 for two burgers but I'm going to scam you for $4 worth of fries? I challenge everyone reading this to do some simple research: look at every review with less than 4 stars and you'll find a common theme. The food is great but when they get busy, they get overwhelmed. When they get overwhelmed they get sloppy and sometimes just plain rude. I've had such good experiences here in the past it pains me to write this! But Epik Burger- you are wrong in this matter! I don't care about $4 worth of fries. You were rude, defensive and accused me of being a liar and my driver of being a thief. Not cool Epik Burger, not cool. Love your food, but on principal, not sure if I can eat here again. And that sucks. Please take this is as an opportunity to be humble and improve your business, because your food is truly unique. But you have some work to do in the customer service. Their fast casual counter ordering allows you to get in and out in a reasonable amount of time while still getting the quality and variety of burgers you'd expect. Hello Fellow Diners, Today, my co-workers and I decided to go out for a burger and the owner of this establishment was very rude. Unfortunately she hasn't learned the lifetime value of a satisfied customer. One member of our group had an issue with a missing item on their order. The owner humiliated our group member in front of everyone. She did not take the opportunity to turn a mistake into a great customer experience, but chose instead to alienate 7 paying customers. When I approached her to explain how we interpreted her actions, she showed no remorse for the bad decision. There are many other great places to have a burger for lunch. Local, gluten free options, eggs on burgers...these are a few of my favorite things. A few critics really blasted this place when it first opened. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion, but these people were overly harsh and wrong in my book. Every burger I've eaten here has been good, the sweet potato fries are delicious and the milkshakes are great. This place is local and that's huge for me. Unlike most Jacksonvillians I don't like chain restaurants, so it's nice when a local eatery opens nearby. They even have vegetarian options available(which is delicious), grass fed beef and tuna burgers. I went to this restaurant on a DoubleTake Offer coupon and my experience was fantastic. The girl who took my order accepted the coupon right away, without hassle. I ordered the Breakfast Burger. I really wanted bison but I didn't order a burger large enough for them to make my burger with bison, but the beef I had was still great. I had no complaints. I received plenty of food. The restaurant itself was pretty small and crowded inside so be sure to secure your seat, but other than that I'd definitely go back because my burger and sweet potato fries were great! I went to Epik on Sat. Because I didn't order on line I ordered and choose to wait. It took thirty minutes to get our order. What I saw in that time was not good hand washing. The person talking orders is a wonderful worker. They took orders, shacked food, cleaned tables, put menus away and pushed trash down into trash can and removed trash can lid. But, they never washed or gloved their hand when back behind counter to sack food or take orders. In all fairness, there food is great. I am a Certified Food Manager, these employee need better training in food handling. read more

Like others, I was expecting the burgers to be something else! The burger was ok, nothing to be blown away by. The fries were pretty good. Unfortunately, the milkshakes were horrible. I love milkshakes, and I have never ever had a bad one. But my husband and I got the chocolate brownie and the ghiradelli milkshakes. His milkshake tasted nothing like chocolate and definitely had a weird taste to it (how do you mess up choc brownie?!) Mine was better than his, however, I still wouldn't call it a milkshake. Great food. Good service. I had the Boss burger, it was fully loaded and delicious. The best part was that the meat:cheese ratio was except for a 1lb burger. So often they are short on cheese, but not here. I got a sip of the Madagascar Vanilla Bean shake too, also delicious. This will be on our must visit again list for sure. read more

We stopped in for a quick lunch this afternoon and were pleasantly surprised! The gluten free options were great, we have a friend with celiac disease and she struggles to find interesting gluten free options and there are so many tasty ones here! I had the peanut butter burger and it was very good, just a hint of peanut in each bite. Both kids had a cheeseburger and actually ate most of it, which was huge for them. We split an order of the Parmesan fries and ranch dipping sauce and enjoyed both. My only complaint is that my burger was a little too pink and I ordered it well done. We had high hopes for this place according to their menu online but we were sorely disappointed. First of all, the flow of the restaurant is poor. The large table in the center blocks the ordering line so when you walk in you aren't quite sure what to do or how to order. Secondly, the burgers failed to be epik. Despite the many options and very unique menu...the burger bombed. The bread was stale and dry. There wasn't much flavor to the actual meat. When you order a burger well done it will take 3 times for them to get it right. I mean come on!!! My mom was almost so fed up at that point she was ready to leave. And did they offer to refund her money? Nope! I didn't even hear them apologize but they handed us 10% off coupons for our next visit. Really? We won't be visiting again. The service and staff wasn't great either. Open kitchen concept is cool but if your staff can't communicate and don't know how to have human interaction you should have a wall blocking them from the patrons. You could hear staff yelling at each other and you could get a general sense of chaos going on back there. It wasn't even busy! I would not recommend the restaurant to anyone and we definitely won't be going back. read more

I had my order delivered from Doorstep Delivery. I ordered the "Epicurean" which is a burger topped with Foie Gras, Cornichon, Blackberry Jam, and Truffle oil. It was $15 for the burger, which was the most expensive thing on their menu. It was SOOOOOOOOOO worth it. I ordered the parmesan-truffle fries, which arrived still crispy. The aroma filled my dining room and my fellow diners were so jealous that they hadn't selected the same as I. Easily the best burger I've ever had. read more

Thank you for your response. We have given epic several shots. We even had the bison burger and that was like rubber with little flavor. We told them and the response was it was because it was a 1/3 pound burger. So we said we would pay more for the 1/2 pound. Those were frozen and so they tried to make the 1/3 pound again. It was still rubbery and lacking flavor. Why do you use margarine? Do you know it is mainly chemicals and toxic to our health? read more

The family and I decided to give this place a shot tonight. We are all about supporting local businesses and eventually becoming loyal customers. We frequent a few of our favorite places Atmosphere: The restaurant itself was clean and uncluttered. A modern look. They had a trash bin and a recycling bin which we thought was a great way of them doing their part for the planet. Many of their plasticware had earth-friendly print on them too. Service: The young lady taking our order was very nice. She was pleasant, polite and very attentive. She did everything with a smile and was great with offering refills. ** the menu states one can add ANY sauce from the MENU to the burger for an upcharge** I thought this would be a great opportunity to try their "epik sauce".Although the sauce is normally used for dipping fries, the young lady described what would be the perfect addition to my burger and so I asked for it. During the cooking process the cook, (which I also believe to be the owner) made a huge LOUD stink about adding the "epik sauce" on the burger. "I don't do that.... The container costs a dollar...next time tell them NO" Needless to say, it was very uncomfortable for my family and I to CLEARLY hear the agitation, anger and displeasure in his voice.Especially when addressing the nice young lady about allowing me to order the sauce on my burger. My sweet grandmother was mortified at such blunt and forward rudeness, It was beyond belief. Food: Eh, not so epik. Ok, the fries were hot and fresh when they were served. The food presentation was cute, served in mini fry baskets. The burger buns looked nice and were toasted, but pretty basic. They had a variety of buns to chose from which was nice. We ordered 3 burgers, 2 cooked Medium and 1 med-well. All 3 were over cooked. The flavor was good, definitely better than your run-of- the-mill fast food joint. Price: The burger prices weren't astronomical. Add ons is where they get you. An order of fries was 2.99 (about the size of medium fries at fast food joints). My family and I will not eat there or recommend it to others. We're more likely to go for a burger elsewhere where they will cook our burgers to the right temperature. The most upsetting thing about our visit today was that pitiful display of rudeness. We WILL NOT be supporting or eating at a business where they don't treat their customers with respect and dignity. read more

I had a bacon chicken burger and fries. The chicken was bland except for the saltiness and frankly over priced. For $7, I would expect a chicken breast not ground chicken. By the way, $7 did not include the cost of the fries. The fries were also salty. You could see the salt crystals on them. For this restaurant to pride itself on being healthy, I was surprised and disappointed at the saltiness. The cashier was friendly, but I was not happy to see that the same guy who wipes the tables was also the same guy who stuck his hand in the ice using the glasses as the scoop. I love this place. Very friendly service, have never had to wait too long after placing my order. They take care not to give you a greasy, sopping mess unlike some other places. There are a lot of options available for the burgers such as adding toppings and switching out buns. I have only had one incident where something was missing on my burger after having already made multiple visits. Whenever we're in town we make a point to visit them at least once. My carnivorous husband likes this place and he's pretty picky. The milkshakes are phenomenal. The fries are nothing to write home about but they are decent (never soggy) , especially the truffle oil ones. Worth a visit if you live in town. read more

As a life-long vegetarian I can't believe I'm going to say this but Epik Burger is a must-go burger joint for veggies. Few vegeterian restaurants in Jax have the meatless selection that these guys do. The service is phenomenal as well. Excellent! Great variety, I had the wild mushroom burger with wasabi mayo on a brioche bun and the parmesan truffle fries. The burger was juicy without being greasy and the mushrooms added a nice earthy element. The fries were crisp with a faint hint of truffle. I ordered the fast food size (smaller burger) and was stuffed! We will definitely be returning, the milkshakes looked fabulous! read more
