Steak in a sack with seasoned fries
Monika S.

I swung through this drive thru during lunch one day based off proximity, price, and prior ratings. They were not wrong, y'all. I drove straight up to the speaker, told her I hadn't been there before. She suggested the Steak in a Sack and I went for it. It comes w grilled onions, and I added mayo, cheese, lettuce and tomato. Next time I'll skip those (chz was ok, basically American, the L&T were messy and didn't add much IMHO). The pita was super fresh, the fries (I got mine seasoned) were piping hot. It was delicious. My only beef was that the drink that came with (I got 1/2&1/2 tea, tasty) was maybe 20oz and a bit small, I thought. Overall, great lunch spot n

I came into Famous Sandwiches for a quick lunch and found a friendly, down to earth staff offering food at an inexpensive price point in extremely humble surroundings. This food is nothing fancy, not by any means, but it is good and a good place to grab a cheap lunch. I opted for the grilled chicken pita combo (with a drink and fries, I asked if I could swap out coleslaw for the fries, but was told I couldn't). The grilled chicken pita was easy, but a decent sandwich (since it is on pita, does it qualify as a sandwich? Since the place has sandwich in its name, I am going with it). The french fries were a bit weak, but I have had worse. Famous Sandwiches offers an alternative to fast food and a good one for the price point.

Ever since I've had a burger from here a couple months ago I stopped going to the Sheik. Not only is Famous Sandwiches more reasonable priced. The burger and fries are just overall better. The steak sub is great as well. Never had an issue with customer service.

Camel Rider and Fries. Took a bite

Discovered this place due to my daughter's proximity to her house. Kind of hole in the wall place but I saw how much traffic it was receiving so I thought I would try it out. Went through the drive through because the parking is pretty tight. I tried the Camel Rider Combo with seasoned fries and a Cherry Limeade. The sandwich has bologna in it which was a surprise. I was thinking steak and onions, but honestly tasted pretty good. Beware if you don't like raw onions because it had some in every bite. It also had what tasted like Italian dressing which made the sandwich. The fries where hot and fresh especially with the seasoning salt. They ask if you want it sprinkled on. And you can't go wrong with a Cherry Limeade.

plated up: Giant burger deal for $2.99 and it comes out to $3.20 after tax & $2.35 for order of onion rings

I was checking my Wells Fargo balance today & saw that I had $4.44 in there, but I was hungry. So I jumped in my car and headed to Famous Sandwiches on Cassat. Every time I come here, the service is so friendly. Even the lady behind me in line commented on how pleasant it is to come here. I concur. This place gets pretty busy during weekday lunch time and I believe they are open until 6pm. That being said, I went mid afternoon and there was no wait. Foodwise, I always order their Giant burger deal for $2.99 and it comes out to $3.20 after tax. With that meal, you get a refillable drink and a small fries with their magic salt. What a bargain, right? After digging in my purse for some change, I added an order of onion rings for $2.35. This time I ordered it to go so I could use my sauces I had at home. This place gets 5 STARS because they're cheap, service is on point and the food is consistently good. I heard their breakfast is tasty too, but that will be another time and another review. Definitely recommend! :)

No, just no. This place is around the corner from my house and was told this place has been here for years. If you've been there for years I guess I made my expectations too high. First thing is it smelled like cleaning products all over. I'm very satisfied that you're cleaning but I don't want that to be the smell when I'm eating. Second, I absolutely can't handle rude service. Especially if you down talk another employee in front of your customers. We had just walked in and I was looking at the menu. The guys up front we're letting me decide while the girl in the back was yelling at them to get my order. I looked at her and told her I was still deciding. After a few moments she yelled at them again to get my order when I was still just in line. I felt rushed and upset that she was so rude to someone she worked with. Third, alright, let's get to the food talk. Let's be real honest for a combo meal for 2.99 I don't know what I was thinking I was getting. It's basically like going to McDonald's, just the local one. This was not for me.

My 2nd time here decided to try the Alaskan fish sandwich comb meal for $3.99 huge fish sandwich compared to any fast food burger places that sells fish sandwich.

This is one of those places that we love but haven't been to in far too long. We both tried things that were new to each of us tonight as well, which was cool. I ordered The Ole Smokie, with everything on it and choose cheddar cheese. My first thought when it was brought to the table was "oh, I'll probably have to go at this with a fork & knife" but I decided to give it a shot as intended. I'm glad I did because the bread held up surprisingly well! As far as ingredients go, the brisket was good and smokey. There was a good mix of everything else and more than enough cheddar. My wife ordered the Chicken Cheesesteak. She also had a choice of cheese and she picked whizz. The thing that separates this from what people might expect is that it's chunks of chicken, not shredded chicken. She said that's not a bad thing at all, just a change from what some might exoect. She thought it was a welcome change. She liked their cheese whizz a lot and liked the roll as always, so she was glad she tried it. It's worth noting that both sandwiches were big enough that we both took half of each home. I didn't get the name of the two people that were working there this evening, but I'd still like to give then a shout out. They were both incredibly patient with the customers ahead of us and they didn't make us feel rushed even though we were there fairly close to the time they close on Friday evenings. Another good visit to Clarke Bros. Here's hoping it doesn't take us so long to get back here again for the next visit!

Easily decided on the Duuuval Cheese Steak - with Philly cheese, onions & peppers! The flavors were amazing and the bread perfect accompaniment. Also went with homemade tator tots with bacon & cheddar mix ... outstanding dipped in honey mustard. Second sandwich was sliced brisket ... not a personal favorite ... I was torn and really wanted the special potato waffle and fried chicken ... or the Cuban ... or the Club ... lots to go back and try!! Would definitely recommend!

So we came the weekend of Jazz fest. We were out on Sunday and I was like hey let's go to Chancho King and try their ceviche. I wasn't a big fan of their ceviche I prefer it from a Mexican restaurant. However the plantain chips were a hit! I would absolutely go back and get those it was a nice snack I'm interested to see how they would taste with some guacamole I need to do that! And I'm an oyster loving girl-lala so I got 2 little cities oysters and they were nice and fresh. The two times I have been here the service has been great. For a Sunday it is super busy and the seating on the inside quickly feels up but I was so glad to be inside because the heat was too much. Nevertheless I will be back to try to more items from their menu.

Hubby got his usual which is the OBX. That comes with poblano mayo, cajun ranch, bacon, lettuce, tomato, and keylime guacamole. He literally gets this every single time and never deviates. We usually split a tray of the bacon ranch fries but we decided to switch it up a little and get the nachos fries. While the nachos fries were great, we both agreed that we like the bacon ranch ones much more. We also agreed that next time, we're going to get the Jax Style fries and compare those as well. But their entrees can use some work. The pasta is not very well made: not firm/al dente, no form to them. They need to change their dough recipe, roll it less thin, and cook it less. The crab pasta is (other than the noodles themselves) delicious - I would love to have those on store bought pasta or (better yet) pasta that is actually well made. On their lunch menu, their sandwiches are too thick. Way too much focaccia: giant slices on both sides of an otherwise small sandwich so all you're really eating is just bread. The eggplant parm should be eaten open faced. Don't get the Mr Crispy - it's disgusting: terrible ham and a bechamel with not-fully-cooked flour. Drinks are excellent. Service is very friendly.
