As a self-proclaimed soup girl, Sun Deli is basically my dream come true! They had five soups of the day when I visited on a Saturday, and I went with the creamy cauliflower--it did not disappoint. The egg salad was simple, classic, and satisfying, and my partner's MCD Rob was absolutely phenomenal. This is the kind of classic deli that nails both the food and the service. Can't wait to come back and try more soups (and sandwiches)!

They told us that they only sell bottle water inside, yet they have water on the soda machine right here - wutttt?!?!

It's been a while since I've grabbed lunch with some friends. After taking some swings at the golf course, we decided to go to Sun Deli for a little treat. Going in, we arrived seconds before the lunch rush started. While placing our order, the woman at the front was kinda antsy when we asked for cup for water to drink (will explain this further below). Today we got (1) 9.0 Philly cheesesteak and (1) Hard attack (Italian sandwhich) with everything on it. Moving on with my review, today's food and service was fair. For starters, as stated above, the woman from the front was impatient, and got highly agitated when we asked for a cup of water. Normally we'd overlook this minor inconvenience, but the fact she tried upselling us for a bottle of water and meanwhile, they clearly had water available on the soda machine inside was unacceptable. As for the sandwiches, our 9.0 Philly cheese steak was edible, but tasted off. The steak didn't taste very beefy, and the overal flavors felt surprisingly underwhelming for a meat packed sandwhich. We definitely would've liked more of the Louisiana hot sauce, and cajun seasoning on this sub to contrast with the ranch dressing. As for the Italian Hart attack, this one was okay, but also needed some work. We liked the flavor of the meat combo; however, the sub was way too bready, and tasted dryer than a desert (Subway sandwhich for that matter). Overall, the food and service this afternoon was sub-par. The Final rating ~ 2.8/5.

Beach Girl Sub - Hot

Hubby and I stopped in Saturday afternoon to give them a whirl. There's just something about a good sandwich and Sun Deli sure knows how to deliver one! There was a short line when we walked in. We ordered and grabbed a table. We had our sandwiches delivered to our table within minutes. Hubby ordered the Hart Attack (hot). This Italian was super good! Next time I may order this one. The mayo and Italian dressing are a must. Warm Italian deli meats and melty provolone cheese are just the best. I ordered the Beach Girl Sub (hot). I loved the turkey so much especially paired with mayo. Prices are reasonable, service is fast, staff is friendly, food is great - what else do you need? I can't wait to go back and try a different menu item!

I honestly cannot believe I had not tried this spot before today but that is a fact. Glad I did. My hubby likes it and so do some of my friends that live out here. I had an outpatient procedure over this way and when we finished at 10:30 I suggested we go get sandwiches to go. He was not sure if they were open yet but a quick search confirmed they actually open at 9:00 so that is great to know. Hubby ordered one of his favorites, the Triple Decker Club, which is huge! So much meat on that sandwich along with fresh veggies. I tried the veggie pita with a few changes. My friend said she liked their pita bread but they don't always have it. I thought the sandwich ingredients were very tasty but was not crazy about the pita. I would get a different bread next time. But overall very tasty sandwich. Their menu is huge with lots of great choices for all dietary needs. They also have several home made soups each day. I can't wait to try those. The staff is very friendly and the place is clean. The sandwiches were fresh and plentiful. I will definitely be back. Check them out.

9.0 Philly Cheese

When you need to get your SANDWICH on, you really need a place like Sun Deli. Good food, inventive flavors and are not scared to mix things up a little. Feeling Adventurous? Try the Mystery Sandwich, it is different every time and everyone my son says it is the best. Feeling Vegan? Try the Veggie Sub or the Egg Salad, both are delicious. Feeling Cheesy? Try the their version of the Philly Cheese Feeling run of the mill? Try the chicken salad, it will perk you up. There really are no bad options here, but do study the menu and do t be scared to let people go in fro t of you while you peruse. You really don't want to miss out on what could be you sandwich Nirvana.

Beach Girl Sub

What a great little spot! I went in early around 915 before hitting the beach, super fast service (wasn't busy at all) and everyone was super friendly. They use boars head meat which I love. Whatever soup they had going smelled delicious too. I got the Beach girl (turkey salami and provalone) cold, and it was amazing. very reasonable prices too! Definitely will be back any time I hit the beach!

Half of 8103, no pepperoni

I can't believe I've lived in Jax Beach this long and never been to Sun Deli! I went for the first time a few days ago when I was craving a sub and I'm so glad I opened the door to another sub shop option! I love the "mom & pop" feel of Sun Deli as soon as you enter the door, and I feel like that's exactly the type of treatment you get while being there too. The menu offers any variety of sub sandwich you could possibly desire, even ones you probably never thought of, and you can also customize your own. I ordered the 8103, hold the pepperoni and chose to get it with the works- no mayo! My mom and I split this and thank god we did because it was pretty big. I could never finish one of these subs on my own. We each got a half served with a pickle and it was plenty for us. I couldn't get over the freshness of the sandwich! From the veggies, meat and cheeses and the bread! I love that they use Boars Head meats and cheese because I think it makes all the difference. It is very obvious when fresh bread is used and will take the sub to the next level! Also I'm very happy to know they offer several kinds of soup daily. I am a year round soup person and feel it's hard to find places that offer more than one soup- they had 5 or so soups on the board to choose from! I'm sad I didn't notice this until after I ordered or I definitely would've gotten one to try. I can't wait to return to Sun Deli to try another sub and one of their soups. Support our local restaurants and plan a trip to Sun Deli soon, you won't be disappointed.

Consistently a fabulous place for subs. Their chili is really good. There is usually a line, but it moves very quickly.

The place is very busy so expect a little delay. The day we went card machine was not working great so a little bit of a longer line. Plenty of seats inside and outside. Tons of goofy things on the walls to look at while you wait for your sub. It's fairly bright inside. Ok on to the food. I ordered the Shane it was fantastic. I didn't realize it was a hot sub but it was still great! My wife order the 904 and as she ate it she started to cry because of how good it was and the fact that we are moving away. We also order the fry/tater tot combo! So dam good! Ask for the fry sauce!!!!!!! Tons of drink options including beer!!!!! I also had the banana pudding not the best I have ever had but pretty dang good. 4.2 out of 5 for banana pudding. I don't give out 5 stars often so you know this place is legit!!

It was a first time visit for both of us. I told the young lady neither of us had been there before and she offered to run through the menu for us which was great. I loved that. She described "The Peruvian" as (her words) "meat heavy". I've heard amazing things in the past about the Peruvian sauce, so that is what I landed on and chose to have it on their onion roll. Hubby went with the "Angie's Philly". I want to preface this with my husband and I had complete opposite opinions and you're going to hear about both of them. For me: When I heard the words "meat heavy" I did expect a larger than normal amount of meat, and maybe thats on me, or a lost in translation example, because in my mind this is not "meat heavy". HOWEVER, before you start angry typing, I REALLY enjoyed my sandwich. It was absolutely delicious and at one point (which I will touch on further down) I looked at my husband and said "Yeah... this is so much better than Larry's". I even put a little extra Peruvian sauce on it while devouring it. The bread was toasted perfectly, had GREAT flavor. I could have easily had a second (or maybe double meat? ) Anyways, zero co.plaints except for the lost in translation expectation. I hope that makes sense. Now, for my husband, who is extremely difficult to please. At first, when our sandwiches were delivered to the table, he was given someone else's sandwich and he ended up having to send it back and wait on his, while I started on mine. Whatever, mistakes happen, shit happens, and we weren't in any kind of rush, so no biggie. When his sandwich arrived and he began to eat it, he was disappointed. He said it doesn't taste like they season the meat at all and it felt bland. He noted that the cheese was melted on top and could have used more cheese chopped and grilled in the meat along with more mayonnaise. He's picky. About halfway though, he said he'd give it a 3 out of 5. Then began to finish the second half and apparently bit into some areas that were burnt and overcooked and dropped it to a 2.5. He said it wasn't bad enough not to complain or send back but not good enough to write home about. So that's the take for today's visit. We would both (especially me) try them out again in the future, and I personally can see why they're so loved.

It has a large menu with many sandwiches, meats, sausages, among other great stuff to choose from. Our first moments here began by just navigating around the restaurant to see what it was all about. There are large number of wine and beer selections. Though I abstain from alcoholic beverages, I would guess that most are of the European variety - they have beer on the tap setup across from the dessert counter. After the quick self-tour and a conversation with the manager, we lodged in our seats and got ready to order. I actually was hoping the cafe offered speciality coffee like a latte, but that was quickly dashed when the server said they only served regular or decaf coffee. Initially I was disappointed but ordered one anyway. When it arrived and I dressed it up a little with some Splenda and Coffee Mate, I found it to be one the best regular cups of coffee I've had in a long time. We took a while to order because it is a sizable menu. However, I was sold immediately on the Rueben sandwich selections and just need to pick one. I settled on the classic Rueben, which was a mix of corned beef, pastrami, sauerkraut, cheese, a superb Thousand Island-type dressing on pumpernickel bread - it was delicious from start to finish! I will note that you can choose other breads and cheeses with the Ruebens. Some options may come at added cost. I'm glad it was large enough to take some home with me. My dearest chose the turkey Parisian. This was a splendid choice with a nice mix of excellent deli turkey, Brie, raspberry sauce, cucumber, and lettuce on a large croissant. Both sandwiches were more than worth the price of admission! Our server displayed excellent courtesy and care throughout our eating experience. I greatly appreciate the manager taking time to chat with me as well. I really felt good at European Street Cafe! With the fantastic artistry on the walls, the large setting of wooden tables and chairs well-spaced and well-organized on both sides of the interior has the look of a classic cafe that has been around for a good number of years. The restaurant is clean, welcoming, and has a nice outdoor patio area not far from the entrance. I think I found a great place to visit when I crave a Rueben sandwich! This one today felt like a Time Machine moment for me as my mom made them like this when I was a kiddo! Thanks for making this visit special today European Street Cafe! Recommend: VERY HIGH

Everything on the menu is delicious, the staff is wonderful, and they stand up to bigotry in their own backyard. You can't get much better than that. The only drawback (if you can even consider it one) is just figuring out a good time to arrive to avoid a line. Regardless, even if there is one, the staff moves through it quickly and efficiently. As Sub Cultured is a walk-up window, there's some outside tables to sit, as well as the option of sitting in your car for that car-hop action. Otherwise, you're so close to the beach and parks that taking your sandwiches for a picnic isn't a bad idea either. If you can't find parking immediately at Sub Cultured, there's a little shopping center just next door since there doesn't seem to be much for street parking outside of their handful of spots. All of that said, I'm a transplant to Jacksonville via the Navy since 2004. One of the biggest cravings that I have from back home is a real authentic sausage, pepper, and onion grinder. Maybe I'd ask for the sauces to be served on the side. The fries were okay - they did fill the styrofoam box to the brim and was generous in serving two cups of the Cosmic sauce; I think these could have been dropped fresh, as when we received them, they seemed as if they were prepared in advance and was sitting for a bit. I ordered online for takeout and got the Mercury combo (Mercury burger & cosmic fries) for 15$ and the Venus wings for 135. The mercury burger was by far my favorite item I had but i was expecting that it would be a little bigger with the price tag but I ain't mad at it, it was still a great burger nonetheless. The cosmic fries were below average and that could stem from the way the fries are made (shoestring style) but even then the seasoning on it was nothing special. The cosmic fries came with a cosmic sauce that was great and was a perfect addition to the burger. The Venus wings were solic with pretty good texture but ridiculously overpriced with a price tag of 13$ for 5 wings which is a scam, if you charging 15$ for wings they gotta be the best wings ever (they weren't). The Buffalo sauce that comes with the wings was definitely hot and the bba and ranch were decent. All in all, it's a solid spot that ! could see myself coming back to for their Mercury burger.
