I leave this review with a heavy heart! I'm so mad I didn't go here sooner and I am moving down south and won't be able to eat here more often! The place is very busy so expect a little delay. The day we went card machine was not working great so a little bit of a longer line. Plenty of seats inside and outside. Tons of goofy things on the walls to look at while you wait for your sub. It's fairly bright inside. Ok on to the food. I ordered the Shane it was fantastic. I didn't realize it was a hot sub but it was still great! My wife order the 904 and as she ate it she started to cry because of how good it was and the fact that we are moving away. We also order the fry/tater tot combo! So dam good! Ask for the fry sauce!!!!!!! Tons of drink options including beer!!!!! I also had the banana pudding not the best I have ever had but pretty dang good. 4.2 out of 5 for banana pudding. Today my husband and I had an early afternoon date planned out in the beaches area. We don't get out here often, and decided to grab Angies Subs Official Page. It was a first time visit for both of us. I told the young lady neither of us had been there before and she offered to run through the menu for us which was great. I loved that. She described "The Peruvian" as (her words) "meat heavy". I've heard amazing things in the past about the Peruvian sauce, so that is what I landed on and chose to have it on their onion roll. Hubby went with the "Angie's Philly". I want to preface this with my husband and I had complete opposite opinions and you're going to hear about both of them. For me: When I heard the words "meat heavy" I did expect a larger than normal amount of meat, and maybe thats on me, or a lost in translation example, because in my mind this is not "meat heavy". HOWEVER, before you start angry typing, I REALLY enjoyed my sandwich. It was absolutely delicious and at one point (which I will touch on further down) I looked at my husband and said "Yeah... this is so much better than Larry's". I even put a little extra Peruvian sauce on it while devouring it. The bread was toasted perfectly, had GREAT flavor. I could have easily had a second (or maybe double meat? ) Anyways, zero co.plaints except for the lost in translation expectation. I hope that makes sense. Now, for my husband, who is extremely difficult to please. At first, when our sandwiches were delivered to the table, he was given someone else's sandwich and he ended up having to send it back and wait on his, while I started on mine. Whatever, mistakes happen, shit happens, and we weren't in any kind of rush, so no biggie. When his sandwich arrived and he began to eat it, he was disappointed. He said it doesn't taste like they season the meat at all and it felt bland. He noted that the cheese was melted on top and could have used more cheese chopped and grilled in the meat along with more mayonnaise. He's picky. About halfway though, he said he'd give it a 3 out of 5. Then began to finish the second half and apparently bit into some areas that were burnt and overcooked and dropped it to a 2.5. He said it wasn't bad enough not to complain or send back but not good enough to write home about. So that's the take for today's visit. We would both (especially me) try them out again in the future, and I personally can see why they're so loved. read more

We came here based on my sister-in-law's recommendation. The sandwiches are delicious! We also got the fry/tot combo and one of their brownies. I love the ASS (Angie's Sub Shop) sticker and picked up one of those as well. You order at one counter and then move along and pick up drinks and desserts as you head to another counter to pay. Then they have someone call out your name and bring you your order. The sandwiches were tasty, but as for having crispies inside, they didn't really feel all that crispy. The fry/tot combo was nice since my husband prefers fries, but I love tots. They were both tasty! The brownie was just okay. Inside, they had plenty of seating and a clean bathroom. I do wish that it was a little more cool inside with the air conditioning, but I think I just had too much sun that day. read more

Always a favorite spot of ours when we are out at the beach! My preferred order is an "Angie's Philly" with no peppers. My DH tends to go for the "Dirty Gringo" and my DS (who has been joining us lately) tends to order the "Jack Del Rio" with extra Del Rio sauce! Of course we have to order Tots for the table whenever we go as well. It is always hopping when we go, and tables are hard to come by for sure - BUT it is well worth waiting to sit down and enjoy your sandwich AT Angie's. On our most recent visit, we had fabulous customer service provided by Everlee. Truth be told though - everyone at Angie's is friendly and provides great customer service. But I would try coming back and getting something else. I've been here quite a couple of times. I've got asked about friends from out of town about how good they hear the sandwiches are at Angies. My first trip here was not great. The employees taking orders acted like I was interrupting their day. I was the only person in the line. My second trip was much better. They were very helpful and all of the staff were pleasant. I've had a couple of items here and took the staff recommendations the first time to have the Peruvian. It was not the "best" sandwich I've ever had and it wasn't that special to me. The second time I choose myself and enjoyed it much better. The atmosphere is beach social. You feel like all the staff live and work at the beach. There was a large group having a meeting the night we visited but they wer courteous of everyone. read more

What can I say? This place is great! I walked in and was instantly greeted, and when I mentioned it was my first visit, the employees welcomed me and said they hoped I would like it. My first visit. I had the chicken salad BLT. It was good but not anything I'd go out of my way to have again. The chicken was a little tough and dry. The bread being toasted made it dry and it fell apart with every bite. If I visit Angie's again, I'll definitely try something different and ask that my bread not be toasted. First wanted to acknowledge all the fantastic kiddos who work here - they were all super pleasant and polite! Our first visit here - we were immediately greeted and asked if we needed menus. We had already peeked at the menu online so we knew what we wanted. I got the Hicken wrap - 10/10! The smoked chicken was great, and paired well with the Knick-knack (coleslaw) and crunchies (Fritos maybe?' They were good, could have used a few more). Hubby got the Italian - a bit plain for his taste though, nothing special. He said he would pick something else next time. My daughter had a plain ham sub - they made it perfectly plain (as she requested) so she was happy. I will say my wrap was a good size but the subs seemed a bit small for the price. Publix subs are way larger for reference (and about the same price). The interior was different than I pictured - very eclectic but clean and plenty of seating. Parking was easy too. Angie's is the heartbeat of Jax Beach, which I'd argue is a prime example of the beauty of small town America. Okay I hear you, Jacksonville probably doesn't qualify as small town America haha, but I'd argue Jax Beach does. It has such a unique charm and character. Residents and former residents have such a pride and reverence to be from here that it is infectious. It makes you want to go. It's a community that lifts each other up. If you start talking about food with a Jax Beach native, the first place they will talk about is Angie's. You'll hear something along the lines of "Best subs on the planet" ... "I've been going for 20+ years" ... "You NEED to get the Sweet Tea" ... "I worked there in high school!!" ... "You HAVE to get the tater tots," ... "Make SURE you put Peruvian sauce on your sub" ... and the list goes on. As we were walking up to the strip mall style building that Angie fully occupies, I couldn't help but smile at a sign in the window that reads "Closed up on Sundays, giving our employees time fer Faith, Family, and Friends." After walking in, I scanned the menu and became a little nervous as Matt James has his own sub on there. Like damn, have they gone all Hollywood on us? I thought he was a dope Bachelor, but him as this food influencer... Idk I just don't really buy it. What is Matt James finna tell me about food? He kinda gives me the ick with his social media presence...but honestly I'm probably just jealous ahahaha I would be doing the exact same thing if I was him. What a dope life. I obviously couldn't order the Matt James sandwich out of pure envy, although it does look kinda good if you take the mushrooms off tbh........... I stood on business and ordered the Peruvian, as it is their magnum opus. Their pièce de résistance. Their Mona Lisa. My hopes were emphatically restored from the whole Matt James debacle when they gave us huge styrofoam cups for our drinks... I HADN'T SEEN A STYROFOAM CUP IN YEARS! Nothing hits like drinking a coke out of a styrofoam cup I swear. We went and sat down at one of the high top chairs and......... for full transparency I've spent the past 20 minutes typing and deleting how to describe the interior of this place. In the best way possible, it reminds me of a movie set. It gives me Central Perk levels of coziness. I'm a big softy, but I get emotional when I think about places like this. It reminds me so much of my childhood in Manhattan Beach before it went all Hollywood. It's an institution that serves, and is an integral part of the community. They support local small businesses with ad space all over the tables. They have framed "Customer of the Month" pictures dating back to the early 2000s. They employ high school kids from the local high school and have a TV solely dedicated to a livestream of the Jax Beach pier. They proudly hang a signed University of North Florida jersey on the wall and a Jacksonville University basketball schedule in the window. Angie's acts as almost a gathering place, a town hall if you will. As we were waiting for our subs, a group of 6 or so kids long done with their food sat to our right, proudly repping their respective college shirts and sweatshirts presumably back for Christmas break, trading stories and catching up. To our left, two gentlemen north of 60 were posted, splitting tater tots and laughing up a storm as they also awaited their subs. I'm not an eavesdropper but sometimes I like to eavesdrop hehehehee. My name was called, and a young employee handed us our subs with a big smile. Oooooooo don't get me started on this Peruvian sandwich. I'm drooling just thinking about ripping into it and getting a mouthful of fresh baked bread fused with a gang of Italian meats all brought together by a ho-made oil and vinegar mix.......... A top 3 sandwich I've ever had. In my week here I dragged my girlfriend twice, as it was my last meal in Jax before I left for the airport. I even bought their bottled Peruvian hot sauce and it got demolished in less than a week ahahahaha. Convenience culture has killed many of these small town community places. I was heading home from Jacksonville Beach and was looking for a lunch spot. This sub shop had good reviews on Yelp, so I figured I would give it a try. It is located about a mile west of Jacksonville Beach on Beach Boulevard. I knew it was going to be good when the place was packed. They have plenty of indoor and outdoor seating, and do a very robust takeout business. I ordered my regular go-to sub, the Italian. It comes with various meats and lettuce, tomatoes and onions. It also had an oil and vinegar sauce, and was heated. I really enjoyed it. They also have about ten other subs on their menu. The space is very big for a sub shop, with plenty of seating inside.
