EP Bar is a new spot in Chinatown. We came on a Friday night with a reservation and waited about 5-10 minutes to be seated. Their menu is small -- several highball options, an old-fashioned, a few other drinks, and a dealer's choice option. We ordered one EP Highball and one dealer's choice cocktail. The EP Highball wasn't particularly special, but we did enjoy our custom cocktail. EP Bar has a cute aesthetic and is situated behind a coffee shop storefront with cozy seating. Service was very friendly but our experience was a bit ruined because of another extremely loud party that had guests who were literally screaming, making it very hard to have a conversation just a few steps away. Overall, give EP a try if you're a highball/whiskey drinker and/or if you're looking for a new place to try out. Might want to pass if you're not a huge whiskey fan and/or if you're looking for a more low-key place to have a few drinks and conversation. read more

Rating 5.0 TLDR: Came here for our anniversary and was blown away by the quality of everything. Straight up, just come here if you're looking for some amazing cocktails. The service is great, the ambience is amazing, the drinks are phenomenal, and everything is well priced. TRUST ME. No "not TLDR" for this place tbh bc it's flying under the radar right now. I checked this spot out a few Saturday nights ago. This is located behind a coffee shop called Morning Brew in Chinatown. It's a pretty cool vibe, you walk in and it looks like a coffee shop then someone comes to the front to get you seated either at the bar or a table. This place looks like a listening lounge and I loved the vibes in here. They play all vinyl songs I believe. Their drinks are unique and tasty. Finally got to see what all the hype's been about for this new little bar in Chinatown located in the back of Morning Glass Cafe. Overall verdict is that it's a chill space; drinks are hit or miss but pretty good when a hit; love the vinyl vibes. What we had: EP Bar Old Fashioned: if you're a fan of black sesame, this is your drink! The black seasame flavor comes through really strong and is a cool twist on your traditional old fashioned. ‍By Your Side: really wanted to love this one cause I'm a fan of cardamom, but there's a fake banana flavor that leaves a not-so-great after taste...kind of like banana laffy taffy also, even though this has rye and rum as the alcohol bases, it strangely tasted like a lesser version of the EP Bar Old Fashioned? EP Highball: light and refreshing! Perfect drink to balance a hot day. Tasted more soda-y than alcohol-y. ‍The Lottery: okay so we got this as listed under the high balls and then again with the mocktail version + alcohol mocktail version with the egg whites was definitely better; flavors judged separately were good but somehow didn't seem to blend together as a whole. What a great, new spot! It feels almost speakeasy-ish since it's tucked in the back of a coffee shop, but much more open. They have an awesome cocktail menu and all of the drinks that we tried were fantastic. The bartenders were great, but not very talkative. The vibe in general was very quiet. I tried two cocktails; the coffee cocktail and the Heart of Glass. Both were delicious; not too sweet and both were very balanced. read more

3/15/22 it's an awesome but small space. You can easily make reservations via Open Table. A credit card is required to reserve and a $5 charge per person can be processed for no shows or late cancellations. The music selection was very chill. The space is clean, including the restrooms. The staff were all friendly and attentive. More importantly, the drinks are AWESOME! my fave was the mala sangre and old fashioned. Their old fashioned had black sesame. They explained how the black sesame was prepared for the drink but I forgot but either way I think that really made this drink stand out as well above your normal old fashioned. They don't really have much of a food selection, hence their saying "come thirsty not hungry". We did get the bowl of Spanish nuts ($5) and hummus with La Tour lavosh crackers ($10) to snack on. Fantastic service--didn't have reservations, but they were kind enough to present us with the option of sitting in the front section of the establishment, which we gladly accepted! Crowded, especially on the weekends and seating is limited, so I would highly recommend booking a reservation in advance if you'd rather not take your chances. I've been coming here for the past few months for night caps and I absolutely love it here. The seating area is quite small but we always get seated pretty quickly. Service is fast and great. Drinks did take awhile to come but they are constantly busy so it is normal. I especially love the decor and the ambiance here, it's always so lively and inviting. As for the drink selection, the menu has a good variety of mix drinks. I would highly recommend the chu-hi's, they're very light and fruity. They are now serving omakase in the front area so we'll definitely be back to check it out. read more

Absolutely obsessed! Came here on Valentine's day for drinks before dinner and everything from the ambience, the interior, the drinks, etc. is what I would look for! Their menu has a variety of crafted drinks -- has really great twists to the classics and include interesting ingredients including black sesame in their manhattans or Vietnamese coffee in in their coffee-tinis. We got 1 of their valentine's day special and 2 of their regular menu items. The valentine's special "My Boo" had Tanqueray, Nigori Sake, Strawberry, Lychee, and Yuzu. Very smooth and with good balance of sweetness, slight tartness from the Yuzu. We also ordered the Luminescent dreams which has a culmination of creamy sweetness from Melona flavors mixed with a tartness from the Lime -- has a beautiful effervescent type of glow that makes it fun to drink! Finally the Oolong-Passion which was our favorite was a very light, not overly sweet; a good passion fruit base mixed with rum and flavors are balanced with the Oolong tea that tops it off. Will return for this drink alone! The ambience is what I expect from any trendy upscale-ish (but not too posh) bar from LA or SF. Dim lighting with backlit shelves of alcohol; also has a huge display of various records which I believe you can also look through or request for specific record to play. Interior was clean, about 4 high top tables and then the bar seating. Perfect for an intimate gathering. Note, they don't serve food -- purely drinks. We went early, around 5PM and it was just us and the bartender which made it a really nice and intimate setting. I appreciated that they worked with me to think of an NA option to drink while my friends sipped on highballs. I would love more NA options and more pupus on the menu in the future. I've only visited this bar once, but it was a great experience. Upon walking in, I felt a bit concerned that I'm not "cool" enough to hang out there, but that was quickly dispelled by the sweet and attentive staff. I had the old fashioned, which has black sesame (and let me tell you, it is black sesame forward). It was delicious, but I could see how that could be a niche flavor for old fashioned traditionalists. My friend tried several different drinks on the menu, and they were all delicious. We didn't try any food, as it was pretty late when we got there. The drink prices are a bit steep, but this is a fantastic spot for a date to grab a drink or two, rather than a local watering hole. The vibe is definitely very hip, and the overall ambiance and experience is enjoyable. read more

My friend made reservations for EP bar after our Sorabol dinner. It's a cute little fancy bar in Chinatown with the nicest workers! We got seated at the best seats in the house, at the bar and right next to the DJ. Their drink menu isn't very big but they make the cutest drinks. I ordered the EP highball but ended up switching with my friend for his Pauahi Street high ball because that one was amazing! He also got a couple other drinks that he said were really good. We came in on a last minute reservation(30 minutes prior) and had an amazing night. What originally was one or two drinks turned out to us closing out the bar. We were greeted by amazing service but I forget her name, but she led us to a table. We soon after moved to the bar so we could see the DJ doin his thing on the vinyls. Great choice because the bartender, Tyler, was there to help us choose Amazing cocktails and provide bomb service! A fun music hangout spot in Chinatown! Loved that a good mix of records were being played throughout the night. Most of the drinks had things in them that we hadn't heard of before, but the guys behind the bar were great about explaining things. Beef jerky compliments the bitters in the drink. Such a cool bar with awesome cocktails but tried to walk in at 10pm on a Wednesday and they said that last call had already happened. And the guy still gave an attitude "read the closed sign at the door", same sign that points they close at 11pm and not at 10pm. Like I work on service industry and i get slow shifts sucks but if you close at 11pm you close at 11pm and no need for the attitude.
