Best salon in Miami. At least by my standards! I'm from out of town but I visit my parents in Miami often. I was a bridesmaid for my cousin's wedding a couple of weeks ago and like the good Cuban that I am I left everything to the last minute. Carmela took me in as an emergency appointment for a mani and pedi. I would recommend making an appointment ahead of time though. The salon itself is located off Sunset Dr, it is very clean, quiet, and with ample parking available. I got the gel mani and regular pedicure - She did an amazing job! Small and cute little nail place that was very clean! Jenny did an amazinggggg job on my nails! Awesome paint job! Like perfect! She got all of my cuticles but did get a little too close on a couple of fingers but nothing too serious. The main thing I look for in a nail tech is the paint job (she painted my nails to perfection and very clean work) and how well they go in under the big toe which is why I'm giving 4 stars. The most painful manicure I've had in a long time. I do remember my fingers throbbing from how rough my cuticles were pushed back around areas where I had hang nails. I asked the technician Jeny to be gentle bc my fingers were hurting and she proceeded to mention their salon has a great reputation for being good at removing cuticles and that my hands needed it. She did a good job at removing my cuticles, but I bled many times and it was very painful. Their tools are sterilized with barbicide, but with all the open cuts on my fingers I was nervous it wasn't enough to sterilize the tools. I will say that the manicure looks great, but getting them done was really tortuous. Even a day after my fingers are sore. In defense of the Jeny, I think in her mind she was helping me by removing all my cuticles but it was just really painful. The shellac mani/pedi combo is $48, and doesn't include a hand or foot massage. It wasn't a great first experience for me, but I tried this nail salon because of all the great reviews. Hands down the best place to get a proper Mani & Pedi! Been coming here for about two years now and I wouldn't change it for anything. I've done my nails with pretty much everyone in the salon & they are all great. My go to girls are Monica & Yenny! They will make sure your cuticles are perfect. I tend to have pretty bad Ingrown on my big toe and Yenny is my go to that can salvage me from the pain that I have with that nail! So happy to have found this gem! I texted and was able to get an appointment the same day. I came in about 20 minutes late and Yoilet was ready to see me. Although she had another client after me, she was still able to do my mani/pedi and was on time for her next appointment. I'm always weary of seeing a new manicurist because I have very thin/sensitive cuticles. But Yoilet put me at ease right away by being so gentle and super attentive. I'm happy so say she did a deep removal of my cuticles and did not cut me at all! Her painting skills are sharp and she uses the little wooden stick clean around the nail. Horrible experience!!! I will never return to this salon. I was cut on one hand and the shellac polish completely peeled off within a couple of days. Instead of offering to do a regular manicure, I feel I was robbed of my money by convencing me of doing the shellac manicure. I explained to the girl that I had done acrylic nails for many years and they insisted the shellac manicure could still be done. I went back once for one nail chipping and a couple others with cracks soon after my shellac manicure. Then a couple days later the shellac polish started peeling off all the nails. Shellac is supposed to be taken off by the manicurist, it's not supposed to peel off. The salon should have offered to refund me the difference for doing the shellac manicure vs. the regular manicure and they should have redone all my nails. What good does it do that the woman are nice if the sevice is horrible. The only good thing that came out of this was my pedicure. I'm really disappointed that Carmela did not help me and made excuses saying that I'm the first customer the shellac has peeled off. I found this salon online and ignored the bad reviews and only focused on the good ones and I'm really regreting it now. A bit of advice for those of you who read this review, stay away from salons even if they have one bad review. I feel there should be no bad reviews if the salon is really great. I tolerated this because they were good, but her most recent comments regarding a client that she does not know I know personally were t and condescending. I did not take it up with her because contrary to her beliefs, there are other great places and I have taken my business to those where my business is appreciated. If you can tolerate an atmosphere where all of the girls, especially the owner Carmela, see themselves as the best no matter what, then feel free to try them. Envidia Spa was absolutely amazing! I was in the South Miami area, and I was in desperate need of a manicure and I wanted a specific color. None of the salons I called or visited had the color I wanted, and the ones that did seemed very run down. I found Envidia Spa on Yelp and I rushed over due to the wonderful reviews. I hoped and prayed that they had the color that I wanted, and that it would be a nice salon. Alas, they did have the color and the salon is very nice! I arrived very happy, but was immediately told that they only take customers with appointments. *NOTE: make an appointment before going. There are only 3 manicurist and they will not be able to see you as a walk-in! I was devastated that I wouldn't be able to be seen, but by some luck, Blanca's appointment was running late and they were able to squeeze me in. The reason I won't go back to this salon is because of the rudeness of the owner Carmela herself. My daughter got her nails done with another girl came out great! I got my toes done with another lady. Great! When it came to getting my nails done not so great. When I first walked in the owner Carmela asked me what I wanted I explained and when it came to get my nails done there was a miscommunication and I was not able to get them done. I had made the appt for 2 days after at 530pm. Mind you it was my FIRST TIME there. So 2 days passed and I completely forgot to call and cancel. I received a phone call from the owner Carmela and she tells me "this is Carmela, are you coming ?" Immediately I knew who it was Because of her heavy Italian accent. She did not say where she was calling from. Which was weird. So then my response was "omg I totally forgot I'm so sorry " and in reality I did forget. And then she said " I knew you would do this , bye" I was like WHAT! This lady did not Just say that to me. I thought it was so rude. She made it seem as if I had been there more than once and never showed up. She's rude and unprofessional. Customer service is always key for me. No good customer service from her. The rest of the girls are great and seem to walk on egg shells around her. I feel bad. The reason why I won't go back. Wanted to call back and tell her off. But I'm better than that. This place HURTS! I'm under the impression that getting your nails done should be a fun, relaxing experience. But this place makes me think you go to get tortured...."beauty is pain" may be the motto here? The women who work here are super nice and I did leave thinking my pedicure looked great (hence the 2nd star)...but the pain and bleeding I endured to get my nails done was too much. I would never go back. My big toe that bled was actually sore in the morning/hurt when walking around, I was nervous it would get infected. Rubbing alcohol and 2 Advil later, I was ok...but was nervous I wouldnt be able to boogie like I wanted to at my bro's wedding the following day. (Luckily, that wasn't the case...thanks Makers Mark!) I'm an actress working in Miami from NYC and stopped by two weeks ago to get a gel manicure. $25 for gel is a GREAT price, and two weeks later my nails still look great! In the city I typically pay $35-$40 for the same service an 7-10 days later my nails look awful. Carmela is incredibly kind and attentive and does a very thorough job!
