The girl who helped me probably could have been more friendly while showing me the nail polish colors. I wanted to put a nude color on my nails but I don't think they had the color. I had called to make an appointment and she ensured me that if I didn't like my nails, I would get a refund. To start off, I was happy with the friendliness, but it was all a front. At the end of the day, I'm here to get my nails done properly and without harm, I am paying for a good service. I thought the owner was very welcoming and when I went there, Yulia was doing my nails for me and she was super sweet. She taught me a little Spanish and I taught her a little English. I liked the nails, But her work was a little harsh. My middle finger bled a little but it was a small poke that is currently inflamed, but it happens. Then my pedicure, she was harsher on my toes and I ended up bleeding on 3 of them. 2 of them, the bleeding eventually stopped but my big toe, kept bleeding the entire time. It was gushing. Even she got concerned. I didn't think much of it and kind of endured the pain but when I walked to my car, the blood started gushing and my toe was hurting a lot. Throughout the entire day, my toe was bleeding uncontrollably. Every-time I would wipe it, it would bleed more. I went to sleep and woke up with dried blood on it too! I called the owner the next day and calmly, I told her of the situation and she told me to see a doctor or get antibiotics, but the idea was that they had caused this and she would not simply take responsibility. I then spoke to her a little more and she went on to tell me that I have sensitive skin, which I do, but that doesn't explain a bleeding finger and 3 bleeding toes. If you notice that I bled from one or even two, that should be a sign to go softer and not cut the cuticles so deep. I then sent her a photo of my toe because it was too much blood (attached on here) and she then proceeded to tell me that I may have a problem with blood. I found that very unprofessional. In every way, she was trying to blame me for the blood and not take responsibility. I told her I didn't have a problem with blood because if I had, all 4 of the cuts wouldn't stop bleeding. But it was in fact 1 that was cut way too deep that the blood continued for over 24 hours, that is insane. I simply called to tell her of the situation and for her to go easy and not do this to other people because my toe was cut too deep. I had paid $80 (without tip) and initially, I wasn't calling for a refund but the way she approached the situation and how she did not take responsibility and offer condolences, was completely unprofessional. I eventually did ask for a refund and she agreed to give me it, but she was getting a little angry. She told me to go to the salon at 7:30. She didn't say why 7:30 but it was obvious that that was after they close and that she didn't want the situation to be discussed in front of other customers and honestly, I'm not sure if she was going to give me the refund had I actually gone at that time. I went before that and when I did, she told me to see a doctor and that there's something wrong with my blood.. again. Instead of apologizing and asking what she can do to help. I explained to her again that it was not my health, obviously. Throughout the entire process, I did not give attitude or show any sort of disrespect despite the unprofessionalism. After that she went to the cashier to give me the refund for the pedicure and she handed me $29 out of the $39. I told her it was $39 and she started explaining how it's actually $39 for manicure and $29 for pedicure, which was not true because when I paid, I made sure to know the breakdown of the payment I was making. She kept trying to work around the conversation and she hit a dead end and gave me $39. She was supposed to refund me $44 because I paid $44 for pedicure with design, but I let that go. So all in all, she tried hard to not refund me and when she did, she tried to cheat out of some of it. She was trying to convince me that it was my health and my body that was the issue and that the 4 cuts, 1 of which is still hurting, was not a result of the work done by them. Very unprofessional. I've been going to Envidia on Sunset for about 5 years now. I hate driving, moved 30 minutes away and still go to my appointment every 2 weeks. The quality of the work is just hard to find elsewhere. Being a nurse, I constantly wash my hands. My gel polish used to peel until Carmela took the time to find the right base and perfect application for me. As you can see from the pictures, it is no longer a problem. I read through some reviews and found a few people complaining about pain during the cuticle removing process. Mine personally stick and it can be a bit uncomfortable sometimes (if it's that time of the mouth and I'm feeling sensitive really), but once I see my nails, I would do it again and again. No other place will leave them as clean and cuticle-free. To those who wrote that they were cut then got infections from here, I'm not sure what they were doing with their fingers but I work in a hospital getting only God knows what kind of bacteria on my hands and I have NEVER gotten an infected finger, even when going straight from here to work. Do you get a cut once in a blue moon? That can happen at any salon you go to if they are cutting away cuticles. My only wish is that they were closer to me! read more

DON'T COME HERE!!!!! Carmela (the owner) is the rudest most unprofessional person I have ever met! My manicure was SO painful and my fingers were dripping blood. Carmela did nothing to try and make the situation right for me. Instead she blamed me by saying my nails are to small and sensitive then laughed because I had tears in my eyes. WOW!!!!! Carmela Thank you your feedback but unfortunately it is not accurate. I texted you and called the salon to say I was running 10-12 minutes late and I was told that it wouldn't be a problem. Her attitude from beginning to end was not acceptable. It was not a full set it was a refill for acrylic which was the worst I have ever done. My nails were destroyed in 3 days, you can see attached photo. When I sat down for the pedicure she said I need to do it fast because I don't have a lot of time and cut me 3 times. One more update.... It's been 2 years since I've visited Envidia! I moved out of Kendall so it has been difficult to get back here. I called last minute and they had a cancellation so I was able to get my nails blessed by these amazing nail techs. I got my nails done with Jolie who was super sweet and helpful in finding the perfect red polish for me. My nails are short but she shaped them nicely and of course got all my cuticle out. The paint job was impeccable and I wasn't expecting anything less. It's great to see them expanding, it was my first time in their new location and they've added more techs in the process. The salon is clean and professional and still a quiet and tranquil place. My nails came out amazing as I had hoped they would and I'll be calling soon to make my appointment again :) read more

I have never written a yelp review until today. I have never had such a horrible gel manicure in my entire life. Tania did this manicure and within one hour of having my nails done the gel polish came off since she painted over my skin. Not to mention that it felt like I had cement on my nails of how thick the gel was and two fingers had a dent. I had to rip the gel polish off of how bad it came out. I can't believe that a place that takes so much pride for their attention to detail and perfection allowed a manicure like this to be acceptable. I really, really wanted to love this nail salon. Truly, I did. But, as I type this, I am literally cringing with the memory of my mani experience. I booked an appointment with my friend, Marlene, to try this location out as I saw it has raaaave reviews and is (as you can see) rated 4.5 stars. We scheduled ourselves for just a manicure so that we could see what all the hype was about. When we got in, we weren't greeted by anyone. We just sort of wandered the front area and checked out the seating area/polishes while we waited for someone to say hello. Someone eventually said - "Select your color." So we picked out what we wanted/showed what we wanted, and were seated with our nail techs. I had Jenny/Yeny. I thought she would be fab because everyone else on Yelp says she is, and I'll admit that she did a great job on the actual mani as you'll be able to see via my pictures. But, she was super cold (which is fine; after all, I'm there for a manicure, not a gossip sesh), but it would have been nice if she was just a tad bit warmer/smiley. Again, not a huge drawback. What did appall me was how rough she was with my cuticles. I mean, she had some blunt square-tipped instrument and was shoving back on my cuticles to the point of pain. Even when I repeatedly went, "Ow - ow!" she didn't back off. Then she turned that square tip on its corner and scrapes - I mean, SCRAPES - out whatever cuticle meat is hanging onto your skin and rips it out. Then she proceeds to cut away whatever excess cuticle is left (no pain with this piece). That is what killed me. I was honestly sweating, as I sat in my chair, and dazedly asking myself why I was torturing myself to this degree for cute nails. Seriously. I had not experienced the likes of this torture by cuticle removal - ever. In addition, she cut me through this process in a few places. At one point, I thought: "Is that blood? Wait, Liane, don't be paranoid - maybe it's a shadow? No... too red. OMG that's blood!!" Not once did she apologize for any of this or gentle her ministrations. She had some backup bottle of bright blue liquid that she then dabbed over the blood (which A - does not seem sanitary by ANY means, and B - she had dropped on the floor, so goodness knows what other grime was on the tip of that opened bottle). I have to say - she did work meticulously and cleaned up my cuticles well (so if you can handle pain well, maybe this place is for you). BUT, my friend's nail tech also cut her up and she had plenty of bloody cuticles that were quickly "attended" to with that bottle of blue. Then, when we went to leave, the owner came out and essentially scolded us for "missing" our last appt. (She even went looking for the confirmation texts she had sent me on 1 iphone, and then a "backup?" iphone she had.) She proceeded to explain that they had "waited" for us. Which is ridiculous because I remember getting to my phone, calling her back, and then being told that our appts were no longer available since I did not text/call her back right away. So... I didn't understand the point of her 5 minute spiel, but I just smiled and nodded as I paid. Basically... we made it to this appt - what's the point of bringing up the prev one? Do you really want to attempt to guilt trip your customers? Anyway, Marlene and I agreed that at most this was a 3-star experience. The reason I dropped this to a 2-star experience is because my right ring finger hurts like a fother mucker. Just typing this review incenses the fingertip because it is both tender and swollen (from where I was cut pretty badly). I'll be posting the pictures so you can see. So on my birthday I was looking for a place to get my nails done and Envidia Spa had a perfect rating so I went there and they were booked so I ended up at another place that served the purpose but Envidia was on my mind so I went back when it was time to get them done again, and WOW!!! I was impressed from the moment you walk in you are greeted by Carmela, the Italian owner. Jenny was my technician, she is very meticulous, I am definitely happy with her, she's not that talkative, but I don't mind that at all, I rather have her concentrated on my cuticles that need some TLC. I had my first appointment yesterday after calling at 12 during lunch and was able to get a 3:30 pm spot for gel mani and regular pedicure. Let me say, I have NEVER had my hands done as meticulously as I did with Jenny. She took out EVERY. SINGLE. PIECE. of my cuticle. I'm not going to lie, it did hurt a bit, but it was SO worth it. Thank god I found this place. UPDATE: 3rd appointment and I could not be more happy. Jenny truly is the best and so patient and meticulous with my nails. Blanca does my nails and she never disappoints! she pays such attention to detail and makes sure every cuticle is perfect. It was my first time getting my nails done here and I have to say it was great! I got shellac manicure and pedicure with Carmela. She is the sweetest! I came in with a couple design ideas I wanted. I showed her and she advised me on the best colors to use and helped me bring my idea to life! She was super nice and thoughtful the whole time. I have really sensitive skin and she was so kind to not leave the chemicals on my skin too long. A little ouchy here and there when she was trimming the skin around my nails but beauty knows no pain! haha She's open to doing most designs and she will let you know what she feels comfortable doing beforehand. I've lived in Miami for the past 30+ years and I have never had such an awful experience at a nail salon but more importantly the owner of this salon was arrogant and extremely rude that it left me wondering how this business is still afloat. Best salon in Miami. At least by my standards! I'm from out of town but I visit my parents in Miami often. I was a bridesmaid for my cousin's wedding a couple of weeks ago and like the good Cuban that I am I left everything to the last minute. Carmela took me in as an emergency appointment for a mani and pedi. I would recommend making an appointment ahead of time though. The salon itself is located off Sunset Dr, it is very clean, quiet, and with ample parking available. I got the gel mani and regular pedicure - She did an amazing job!
