Luis provided excellent customer service and came by at the beginning and end of the job to make sure the work had been done right. And his crew was excellent. They arrived early in the morning, covered up all our plantings so they wouldn't be damaged, removed the old shingles and repaired certain rotted planks underneath, and installed the new shingles -- all by 7 p.m. (with a couple of little things that were finished the following day). We were very impressed with AGG and the professionalism (and speed) of its worker.

I chose AAG because they were competitive on pricing but also because they were professional and direct about what needed to be done. We signed the contract and they came out today and did a partial tear off, this was less than 2 weeks after the contract was signed. The installers were great and very courteous. Everything was done for the quoted price and all of the old material was taken away and they cleaned up nicely. Seriously, if you need any type of roofing work give these guys a call, they do great work.

I strongly recommend staying away from this roofing company…read more After a devastating storm hit Homewood, my home sustained significant damage. The company initially responded quickly and installed a tarp to protect the home from additional rain damage. Unfortunately, my experience went downhill from there. I was initially provided an invoice for one amount. After my insurance adjuster became involved and met with the roofing company, I received another invoice only three days later that was approximately $4,000 higher--even though there had been no corresponding change to the scope of work. My insurance adjuster also noticed that the price being charged for wood had increased within those few days. Then, after the work was completed, we received yet another invoice for an even higher amount. In total, this company gave us three different prices for essentially the same scope of work. The price increased after insurance became involved, and then increased again afterward. We repeatedly questioned these increases and did not receive an adequate explanation for why the same work continued to cost more. Even more concerning, I signed a proposal for an agreed-upon scope and amount and was given my copy. The company's version later reflected a higher amount than the document I had signed. Additional charges continued to appear throughout the process. I also found discrepancies between what was billed and what I could verify was actually completed. For example, the amount of plywood billed did not appear to correspond with the square footage or photographic documentation. Several items included within the agreed scope of work were not completed. The gutter guards were another issue. I did not request new gutter guards. I was told they were being installed at no additional charge, and I have Ring footage documenting that conversation. The company later attempted to charge me for them. Based on my experience, I would not recommend this company. Carefully document every conversation, keep your original copies of everything you sign, compare every invoice against the original scope of work, and verify that the work being billed was actually performed. I have documentation supporting my experience, including the three different prices/invoices, my copy of the signed proposal, photographs, communications, and Ring footage. I have also reported my concerns to the Better Business Bureau. I would not use this company again, and I would strongly caution others before signing anything or allowing this company to handle an insurance-related project.

We recently had Andres Roofing & Construction replace the roof on our classic Chicago two-flat, and…read moreI can't say enough good things about the entire experience. After speaking with three different companies, we chose Andres Roofing because Sergio was by far the most knowledgeable and transparent. He explained every detail about the job, including the materials they'd use, and ensured that everything would meet State Farm's requirements, which was a huge deal for us, as we were forced to replace our roof just to keep our insurance. Here's what was included: they installed 2 inches of insulation and a fully-adhered 60mil white energy-efficient TPO roof membrane from GAF EverGuard. They also swapped out our old gutter for a new 6" galvanized commercial-grade gutter, put in a new 5" round galvanized downspout, replaced two 8" roof vents, and installed a new wooden roof hatch. Everything was explained clearly, and we got to see photos and videos of every step, thanks to Sergio's drone and camera work. The project ended up costing a bit more than we planned--$28,553.50 in total--because once the old roof was off, they found 130 linear feet of rotted decking, three sheets of plywood that needed replacing, and 21 pieces of coping that were in bad shape. Sergio didn't just spring these costs on us; he showed us exactly what was wrong and explained why the extra work was needed. I really appreciated the honesty and the way he kept us in the loop. The crew was fantastic. They showed up early, brought their own portable restroom so they didn't have to come in and out of our building, and cleaned up every day (three truckloads of old roofing gone!). They were polite, respectful to our neighbors, and even helped someone carry a heavy item up the stairs--totally above and beyond. We also got all the paperwork up front--licenses, insurance, everything--which made us feel secure. Payment was straightforward: half up front, the rest when the job was done, and we got a detailed invoice. Best of all, we now have a 10-year warranty covering all labor and workmanship, so we know we're protected moving forward. If you own a traditional Chicago brick two-flat or need a commercial roof replacement, I can't recommend Andres Roofing & Construction enough. They made a stressful situation so much easier with their professionalism, communication, and quality of work. I'm genuinely grateful for how everything turned out.

It's been almost 2 years since we last cleaned our gutters and it shows. I called up Andy's, who did our last cleaning and put gutters on our garage, but they never got back to me after a call, email, and website submission. I got a few quotes, none of them from Turro, when a co-worker randomly mentioned a recent gutter cleaning done by Turro. I will never grow accustomed to the awkwardness that ensues when trying to schedule home repairs. It seems the rule, not the exception, that you're the one pushing for updates and begging for info. But I digress. After a few texts, I got my quote and was told they could come out the next day. The only real upside of a pandemic is that we're always home, so scheduling is easy. My only frustration was that we needed to run an errand and I couldn't pin down a window of time when they'd be out. I started to assume they weren't coming when it was almost 4 on a Friday, but they assured me they would be there and they were. Hot damn our gutters were filthy! Seeing all of the water run out when they unclogged them was pleasing. The also fixed one spot on our gutter where the downspout had been attached shoddily too. They did try and upsell us on gutter covers, which we opted not to do until we've had a chance to do a little research. On the one hand, I didn't love that most of the gunk from the gutters ended up in our grass, but on the other hand, it was evident that they did a thorough job. Overall, we'd hire them again. They beat all of the other quotes we got, were friendly, quick, and we didn't have to wait weeks for an appointment.

About a year ago we received a quote from John's Roofing, which turned out to be the lowest estimate out of about five companies. When an employee (Roman, I believe) came by for the quote, he had two other employees with him. He pointed out some spots that could use repair and explained why. He also had the two other employees clean up the roof, removing leaves, etc. I stated they didn't need to do that, but was told it was ok. After the roof was viewed for the estimate, the employee said he was going to have to charge me $200 for cleaning up my roof. I stated I never agreed or consented to pay for that, but offered a few dollars for being made to feel bad. I tried to forget that experience based on their lowest quote. I scheduled the day to replace our roof, but it snowed that day. I called to reschedule and Roman stated we did not need to be home while they work. I insisted on being home to watch them and in case anything went wrong. Between being asked to pay for a service I did not ask for or consent to and being told I didn't need to be home during the work, I overall got a bad feeling about this company. I returned the shingles samples with a letter similar to this review. We ended up hiring another company.
