Dirty Salon and extremely rude service is what I experienced here! I booked for a shellac polish change for my nails and my toes once they started to remove the shellac on my toes the woman comes over saying she was confused and cant do the service I booked for I asked why. The woman starts yelling at me while her husband is working on me telling me that i need a fill? They dont do shellac polish changes on acrylic nails unless you do a fill which is $30 more? She waited to tell me this after he had already started removing the polish. Basically trying to force me to buy extra services. She just wouldn't quit either I asked her to stop yelling at me she was hurting my ears. Then he cut me with his file as his wife was yelling at me and I said ow that hurt. Then she starts screaming at me telling me Im too sensitive? I told them to forget it and to stop. So I got up and left! This place needs to be reported I dont feel they are licensed either since they carelessly cut me. This place is the worst! Who yells at their clients after hurting them? Im happy I left I have never been treated so poorly at a nail salon before, I will probably report them to the state for client abuse and to make sure they carry the proper license. read more

I have been going to Encore nails for over three years now and I cannot day enough good things about this place. The husband and wife that own the salon are there every day they (as well as every technician that works there for & with them) are very skilled, incredibly personable and kind and extremely hard working. They carry a huge variety of polish colors and types including shellac, gel, dip and acrylic and they work hard to carry nothing but the best brands available. They also offer alternative, more natural options for polish (they have an awesome gel polish line that is bio-seaweed) and all natural nail service options which I appreciate a lot given my sensitivity to harsh chemicals. They also offer waxing services - they are the only older I trust with my eyebrows - every technician there has done an excellent job waxing my eyebrows to a shape that not only flatters my face shape but also is the perfect thickness for my facial features. The reason I am writing this, though, is because of my most recent visit and how nervous I was about going to get my nails done after things started reopening. I know that I am not alone here and wanted to express how impressed I am with all of the measures they are taking to safely take care of their clients during this pandemic. They have all been certified in COVID-19 specific sterilization techniques, they have created clear signage for appropriate social distancing measures, they have put plexiglass guards up on all of their mani and pedi stations that they clean regularly, they all wear masks and require that of incoming clients as well as take temperatures of anyone getting services. This list is not comprehensive as they are continuously working hard to stay up to date on research for best practices but I wanted to list a few things that were the most reassuring to me personally when I got my nails done there last week. Most importantly they are understanding and very accommodating to their clients needs and/or requests and so if you have concerns you do not have to worry about undue judgement or otherwise - COVID related and not, the owners will take great care of you. read more

Very disappointing and incredibly overpriced for the actual service received. I paid $45 (plus a nominal tip ... I usually tip 20%-25%, and I only tipped 10%) for the worst pedicure experience I've ever received, given everything mentioned below. I booked a mani/pedi for late in the afternoon. I'd been told they could do both in an hour. I figured they'd have someone doing the mani and someone else doing the pedi at the same time; I've seen it done at other salons, so I thought that's how they could justify an hour. Nope. They started with the pedicure with no reference to the manicure though that's what I'd booked. First: The fumes from two customers getting manicures was so strong -- I got a headache during my pedi and I imagine the fumes may have had something to do with it. I was a good 15' away from where they were sitting. It was awful. Second: There was a child in a room labeled Wax Room who was talking loudly, shouting, cussing and full-out swearing the entire time I was there (playing an online game??), and only once did an employee (the guy doing my pedi) open the door and say something to him. I heard everything he said. It was not a relaxing environment. I saw the kid right before I left and guess that he is about 11-13 yrs old (?). Third: For the pedi, my nails were trimmed with absolutely no attention to shaping them (they were squared off with no request for my preference), I had to ask for the nails to be buffed, my feet are no softer than when I went in despite the all-too-brief block smoothing and paraffin wax treatment that is part of the "deluxe" pedicure, and only when I commented on how rough the polish looked after one coat did he remove it and reapply from a new bottle. Ugh. At that point I said I was no longer interested in having a manicure. Fourth: Another employee propped open the front door (it was about 30F outside) for 5 minutes for an unknown reason and the space was already chilly prior to that and it became downright frigid with the door open. When I put my coat over me an employee asked if I was cold and made no attempt to warm up the space nor acknowledge that the open door had played a part in chilling down the salon. I wanted to have a special mother daughter experience with my 5 year old. She just wanted to sit in my lap and get her nails polished while I got a pedicure (I had done it before there-no problem). Today it was a problem- "We don't do that! She has to sit over there!" Okay that's fine we can do that. The staff was icy cold- no smiles. My daughter and I sat together at the table while my daughter got polish and then we were quickly told to sit at the blue light driers...and we waited without a word about my pedicure so I paid $10 for her polish and left. This is by far the worst customer service I have ever dealt with.. I went in to unknowingly receive the worst manicure of my life. They drilled my nails to the BARE BEDS, my cuticles bled on 3 fingers, my gel peeled off immediately, and my nail beds are bruised! Twenty minutes after my manicure, my gel had bubbles in 3 fingers and and began to peel. The first thing next morning I went in and very kindly asked if I could have a refund (showing them proof of my horrendous nails) and told them how they hurt so so much. They refused to give me my money back. They gave me HALF of what I paid!! It has been almost three weeks since I went in and I am still, STILL, taking Advil for my nail pain. I used to come in here all the time to get my nails done. But the last time the woman seemed annoyed and very rushed to be doing my nails even though there was only 2 other people in there. I had a shellac manicure and could see there were fibers of hairs left in the polish after it cured. But you couldn't really see them, so I paid and left. Yesterday I went in to get a standard french manicure for my engagement photos coming up. There was one woman working (one client in the whole place) and two others sitting at their stations. The woman in the middle was shoveling popcorn in her mouth, had her headphones in and was watching something on her phone. The woman working elbowed her and asked her to do my nails. With popcorn all over under her station, she removed her headphones, rolled her eyes, wiped popcorn off her face, and told me it would be a minute. She gathered her supplies, started soaking one hand and then immediately started removing cuticles on the dry hand. I've been having manicures done for 15 years and I know you're never supposed to cut dry cuticles. I was bleeding by the second nail. When she finished with that hand she took the other hand out of the bowl and set the water aside. I asked, "Are you not going to soak the other hand?" because I was curious what she was doing. She chuckled and said "No, it doesn't need it." After my cuticles and filing she asked me to wash my hands. At the sink I could see my cuticle on the hand that was cut dry was bleeding pretty good and all my cuticles looked like someone went over them with a cheese grader. I asked her to clean up a dangling cuticle and she apologized for nicking me. At this point she asked ,"Do you even want lotion?" I'm thinking to myself, of course I want lotion and a nice hand massage but I can tell you really don't want to bother. So I said, "No, I'm good. I'll just grab some at the end." When she started putting the polish on (this was not shellac) she put the base and pink layers on first. When she put the white layer on she cleaned up the shape with a brush and nail polish remover taking off the entire middle section of base and pink coat. By this point it's comical what is happening because I have no idea what she's doing or how she's going to fix this. My cuticle is bleeding, I have white tip nails, zero polish in the middle of my nail, and some pink polish left at the base. To my disbelief she reaches for the top coat and starts applying it. I finally stop her and say, "You can see you took off all the pink in the middle when you were shaping the white, right?" She says "Oh, you want me to apply more pink?" And reaches for the pink polish. That's when I finally stood up and said, "No, I'm good, I'm very unhappy with these and I'm leaving." I walked out. I've never walked out of a place without paying before. I wish I could make this stuff up. I would be surprised to hear she had ever taken a single nail tech class. This turned out to be the most expensive pedicure I have ever gotten and it was downright mediocre. The price list said deluxe pedicure was $45. I requested shellac polish and would anticipate a slight increase in price but not an additional $25. They did not make that clear. Had I known the up charge was that significant I would not have bothered. When I confronted woman at register about it she was really unpleasant and rude. I would not recommend this salon. I priced other salons in Boulder and there are much better deals with much nicer staff! read more

I hate posting a bad review but feel I have to. I have generally liked this place, partially because it is one of the few nail salons open on Sundays and I like their hot stone pedicure. But last time I went, the lady completely ruined my nail beds, which I have been growing out ever since. First, she was very rough with me and I said a few "ouches." Didn't seem to clue her in that she was being too rough. Second, she was on the phone -- not answering phone calls to the salon, but she kept making a personal call on her cell that kept going to voice mail. During this time, she was not focused on doing my nails, which is what I am paying her to do. Third, and worst of all, she was very rough in how she removed my previous dip manicure. My nail beds are destroyed. I know that she could have done it more gently, based on my experience at other places that have removed my dip without significant damage to my nail beds. Now, my nails look terrible and have been breaking ever since. There may be other technicians that are better in this salon, but this one lady was very unprofessional. She was very meticulous, going over my nails multiple times to make sure things were smooth and properly trimmed. Did some nice work to get my slightly ingrown nail out as well. I dropped my dog off to be washed this morning at Petsmart next door and decided to get a pedicure. The door said they opened at 9:30am on Saturday. I was excited to try this place and thought it would be very convenient! I WAS WRONG. It was AT LEAST 10 minutes after they should have opened and a woman was dropped off to open the place. I walked over to greet her and she asked me "what do you want?". I told her I would love a pedicure and she rolled her eyes, sighed and said she needed at least 10 minutes. She unlocked the door and walked inside. I was RIGHT behind her and the door shut literally right in my face. I opened the door and told her that I could come back and she said, "whatever" without even looking at me. I WILL NEVER GO BACK. If you don't want to open at 9:30am then don't! If you are late, it is not the customer's fault. They obviously don't need money or customers or a good reputation. I was so shocked that the door shut right in my face. Disappointed and left feeling taken advantage of. Both the website and price list in their salon said a regular manicure was 15, I got a regular manicure and she told me it was 20. The website also said a gel manicure was 25 which I was considering until at the salon it said 28, they even have a sign that says "prices are subject to change at any time without notice". When I mentioned that both the website and sign said it was 15 she said that the extra 5 was for taking my old polish off. They weren't friendly at all, rushed, and basically tried to lie to my face. i was a little hesitant to visit ANY of the nail spas in Boulder because of the crazy, mixed reviews. i settled on Encore Nails because it was close and had a few more reviews. i went in for a mani/pedi on a Sunday. there were just a couple of people already there and i was seated immediately. the chairs were comfortable, in good shape, and appeared to be clean. Debbie was the one who worked on me me. she was very nice and we had fun chatting throughout my visit. i thought that the price was very reasonable and the work was very good. i would definitely come back again and would recommend it to others. the employees have varying degrees of English skills - if that bothers you then perhaps you should try another place. read more

Come on..If you want a quality pedi go elsewhere. I waited the little league 24 hour rule before writing this.. but it still has me wanting my money back. My friend and I went for pedicures - first thing in the morning and nobody waiting or coming in the whole time. Four people working. My friend had a gentleman do hers - he took his time and her pedi was nice - he made sure she liked the color and happily switched when she rethought the polish. My attendant literally was miserable.... we both asked for "Deluxe" (a regular pedicure is not listed anywhere on the price wall - so to get anything you ask for deluxe ) -...she took two swipes at my heels with the exfoliator..- I politely asked her to maybe do a little more - another two swipes and she was annoyed .... the hot rocks she spent - and by this time I was timing it - 15 seconds and put them away. One coat of polish and she got up and walked away. I asked if she could do two coats.. she said "Yes already 2 coats!! " My friend and I looked at each other.. like I can't count? ! We were astonished. She came back and put the second coat on like I was asking for a huge favor. My Deluxe pedi took 15 minutes - still no one else waiting and my friend's attendant was still doing her toes. Expensive and I tipped her but I shouldn't have. I've been going to this nail salon for about 3 years, and have NEVER been less than thrilled with the work they do. My shellac manicures are always beautiful and well done. They last as long as I'll let them (only have to get them redone because my nails grow out - never any chipping or anything). I went backpacking in South America for two weeks after a gel manicure here and my nails were gorgeous the whole trip. I am a nurse, and can attest to their cleanliness - I never worry about any kind of infections with them. The staff are friendly and accommodating, always doing exactly the work I want. I've gone a few other places for manicures, out of convenience or desperation, but I've always been disappointed, and paid a lot more. I will start by saying I am not a manicure aficionado. I get maybe 3-4 manicures a year. I've only gone to one other salon in the Boulder area but I find Encore to be better. The first time I went to Encore was with my sister who was getting her first manicure ever. I did a standard manicure with regular OPI color. Both of our manicures turned out great. My sister went with a gel manicure. I like that they work fast but the work is still perfect. I was super impressed with how long my standard polish stayed on and looked great. I would say it looked relatively flawless for almost 2 weeks before I decided it was time to remove it. My sister's gel manicure was similar. I have never had regular polish last so long. The gel manicure I had at the other salon barely made it two weeks. I just recently had a french tip acrylic tip manicure and am loving it! Again the process was efficient and yielded great results. I will definitely continue to go back to Encore for any manicures. I also think the prices are very fair and the space is clean. Definite pluses in my book! read more

This is probably the worst mani-pedi I have ever gotten. The pedi was rushed and later I saw that there was nail polish on the skin of my toes that was never cleaned off. The mani was even worse - rushed again, my fingernails were uneven with some lopsided and some longer than others. The woman actually cut my skin and hurt me when clipping my cuticles. She was grumpy and couldn't speak English so I could not communicate my displeasure. Now I have to fix the mess at home. I will not return to this business. Later I decided to send the business a complaint. They offered to fix the problem, which they did the next day with much better results. I requested a different technician, and it all worked out fine, so I will increase my review to 3 stars instead of the original 1. Take your chances. It depends on the technician. read more

Was really satisfied with my acrylic fill and repair of two nails. I was going to Boulder nails for about a year and was disappointed the last few times and decided to try somewhere new. The lady at encore was very quick but also did my nails very well. I have an oval shape which I think is a more difficult for some. My nails are all smooth and the same length and shape!
