Today I went in to pick up about $30 worth of comics from my regular pull list. As I go there regularly to spend between $10-$30. recently I have been buying my variants else where as they always seem to have them prices $5-$10 bucks higher than other comic shops. However there location was convenient so I kept giving them a chance, and my business. To start off my 6 year old son was with me today, and had also picked out a comic. Upon checking out, and young man about 20-22 with a tall wave haircut black framed glasses, and a smug attitude was the customer service rep who was available to assist me. I brought up some comics, and had him go to the back to get some from my pull list. once I had made my selections I handed him the stack. He then started to man handle the comics, and opened one to scan, which is a black cover variant. He literally tried to rip off the front blank cover as he apparently thought it was supposed to be there. anyone who collects comics knows that is really stupid to attempt, and would erk any collector. I sternly told him to please not rip off the cover, and that I wanted to check the condition to see if I still wanted it. He rolled his eyes, and gave the most disdain look, then reluctantly handed the comic back to me. It was indeed now damaged, as there was a large crease where his fingers, and thumb began to tear away on the cover, and was now no longer collecting quality. I told him that I no longer wanted the book as he damaged it. "That was kinda careless" is exactly what I said when he lost his temper. keeping in mind again my 6 year old son is standing right there. He then proclaims in a very aggressive manner I don't have to be rude, and began puffing up his chest, and turning red, as he clearly was not mature enough to control his temp, and just simply say "sorry sir it was my mistake". right away another man slightly overweight with gray hair and glasses jumped in and started to tell the other employee to back off. the other employee seemingly appeared to show a desire to assist me. However when I stated to him I thought he was being very rude, and I wanted an apology from the first employee. The first employee reappeared out of the back, and said "let go outside sir" as his undeveloped voice cracked with nervous angst, indicating he wanted to fight me. Which was hilarious to me, inside i was trying not to laugh as the kid looked like he had never done a push up, and could likely not do a single push up with his gangly little boy arms... once again my 6 year old son is standing right next to me. I then turned to the older, overweight employee, with shock in my eye. And asked if he was really going to let an employee threaten me by trying to incite a fight? the older employee tried to cover for him saying he did not say that, when he clearly did. The younger employee then totally ruined the older employee saying he had not said that at all. when he claimed he did say that but ment or he's call the police. (call them to tell them you lost your temper over a customer calling you out on your carelessness, and rude behavior?) which made the older employee look even less withfull as he insisted he had not said that at all. All the while the younger employee is threatening me, i was insisting the older employee scan the items I came into purchase, so I could leave. I then told him I wanted him to cancel my pull list as I could deal with the "prick" of an employee treating me that what especially in front of my kid. yes I said "prick" could have said worse, and the younger employee was a "prick" and he totally deserved be labeled as such. upon saying the word "prick" the older overweight mans face turned bright red. He began to stutter, and fumble around trying to scan the comics, as asked, so I could pay, leave, and never come back. At that point I wasa thread away from just walking out, but then the older employee. In his highly emotional state, as he literally dropped 2 of the comics, and continued to stutter, said "ya know what you can't but these, just go and don't come back" This is when my 6 year old son started crying. At that point I said my pleasure, and left. So moral of the story. their employee was rude, and created a hostile situation with his behavior and poor customer service skills. Upon being called out for it he threatened me. Upon escalating to another employee who seemingly was professional at first but had even less control of his emotions. the 2nd employee didn't make me leave because of me, he literally started to have a nervous break down of some kind, and his mental state shut down to the point where all he could do to function was just yell at me to leave. Despite the fact I literally had my debit card out and was asking him to complete the transaction so I could leave. he just had a total break down instead. So if you like emotionally unstable employees this is your place. wont be back ever! read more
