Absolute con job. Called them because the door knob lock broke on the apt building I work for. I…read moretold them I want a new lock, and re-key to use existing key. I asked how much over the phone. The owner told me "starting minimum $100" ok that's fine I figure worst case they come out tell me the total labor and new lock would be maybe at the most $350 ? That's what I'm thinking. The guy get here, starts working. He tells me he needs to use the old cylinder from the old Broken lock. I tell him that's not what I told his boss we were asking for. He played dumb and then he says "well the new doorknob and lock is $250 and my labor is $395" I couldn't believe this absolute con man. He then spends an hour longer, calls for back up and another guy comes. (Neither the original guy or the back up guy have any business name on their vans, just white vans) I hear him using a grinder and see him jamming a file in the door knob. Total clowns. So they finish and the door knob is the most difficult thing to turn ever. And it's installed upside down. I told him I'll pay $325 and he took it. I should have offered $200 because he was a hack. Do not ever waste your time, money, or property with these con men.

The guy drilled apart my current lock, placed a new lock, typed random numbers into his calculator, and told me that I owed him $735. It was a Doorbird IP Intercom system for my employees to use a keyfob to enter the office. For the past 3 months, my employees have been stuck outside the office on numerous occasions to get into the office to work in the morning. Owner of the company said they will find another company who sells a different system for us. I was willing to pay the difference in cost. I came to find out that I was paying for not only the new equipment, but also the labor to replace the device that Locksmiths USA sold me, and they were not crediting me for the system they originally installed! This is the Email I received from them (attached). They are more concerned about the time they spent making it work, than they are with making this right. Should not be the buyers issue that they can't get the system to work, that's why we hire professionals. I am contacting the system manufacturer to report them also, do not do business with this company. Also starting legal proceeding for damages. Not the way to do business.

I originally had a new digital lock placed on my door in mid July. I did not use Columbus One. It…read moretook the locksmith over 5 hours to put in the lock and he had to call someone to help him. The lock worked for 6 weeks and then "died". I called the locksmith and he told us to insert new batteries which my tenant did and it worked for 2 days and "died" again. I called/texted the locksmith multiple times and he intermittently responded but could never make a date to come and evaluate the lock. I became very frustrated and called Columbus One and Jay responded quickly and met me several days later. He was excellent and was able to install a new lock in about 30 minutes. He was very professional and truly a nice guy. To top it off, it cost me half of what the first locksmith charged me-- granted the first one had to make a hole in the doorframe, but still-- that's maybe another 15 minutes. I am sooo happy with Jay at Columbus One Locksmith.
