Needed help opening a lock box. I went to another business who couldn't do it and they sent home here as a recommendation.

Absolute con job. Called them because the door knob lock broke on the apt building I work for. I told them I want a new lock, and re-key to use existing key. I asked how much over the phone. The owner told me "starting minimum $100" ok that's fine I figure worst case they come out tell me the total labor and new lock would be maybe at the most $350 ? That's what I'm thinking. The guy get here, starts working. He tells me he needs to use the old cylinder from the old Broken lock. I tell him that's not what I told his boss we were asking for. He played dumb and then he says "well the new doorknob and lock is $250 and my labor is $395" I couldn't believe this absolute con man. He then spends an hour longer, calls for back up and another guy comes. (Neither the original guy or the back up guy have any business name on their vans, just white vans) I hear him using a grinder and see him jamming a file in the door knob. Total clowns. So they finish and the door knob is the most difficult thing to turn ever. And it's installed upside down. I told him I'll pay $325 and he took it. I should have offered $200 because he was a hack. Yes. This company. Six stars. Story: Four hours was not enough time to get to Newark, use my prepaid long term parking spot & wait for a shuttle. It was a last minute trip to CA to visit a friend who had received a dire diagnosis. Traffic was so bad I had to pull into the short term garage (a shocking $70 a day). I barely made the flight. Upon return I'd been awake for 24 hours when I found my truck but couldn't find the key. More despair. I did find this local locksmith with an encouraging number of good reviews. They are justified. Ben showed up quickly and exceeded his job description. Not only did he make a working chip key on the spot, he had the patience to calm an exhausted and upset traveler, and took extra time making sure I was okay. The price was reasonable. Thank you Ben for being an unlikely earth angel in the form of a mobile locksmith. Oh, and my friend is now the other kind of angel... but I did get two meaningful days with her. read more

Managed to lock myself out of my apt. These guys had a locksmith out to me in 20 minutes. Guy was friendly and did the job quickly. Not exactly cheap but pretty much inline with what I thought it would cost. Recommend. read more

They did their best with what they had to work with very attentive all day with a large team constantly contacting me and working around my schedule unfortunately when they showed up they saw that the Pella door was unfixable but the $50 service fee I feel was reasonable read more

Im not the type to write reviews but this time i decided to make an exception. I was locked out of my apt and called for a quit quote. They told me 15 fee and 35+ to open the lock. They got here and they told me it was going to be 120 as if my lock was something special. I negotiated down to remove the 15 fee, shook on it and he opened it with what it looked an air bag. It literally took 30 secs. I asked what would be different for a lock that inly cost 35 bucks and the guy just gave a slick smile. Not sure if he was even listening. I doubt i will need this type of service again but this felt like a bait and switch. Total rip off. This type of service is usually for emergency so i recommend shopping around and not use this place read more

I have used Hudson Locksmith in the past and had very prompt and good service. I had a problem yesterday as I could not open the battery case to the front door combination lock to change the batteries. Even though it was a little thing to do, Hudson locksmith came within the hour, changed the batteries and did not charge me anything. Great service where they obviously do not take advantage of your situation - and a service you can count on. read more

I was locked outside of my house on a Friday night. i called Hudson Locksmith and sure enough, after a few minutes, Phil showed up in front of my house. Within ten minutes, he was able to pick both locks and got me inside without damaging anything. Great service, extremely professional, he charged me a very reasonable price. This guy took over an hour to come and said he would be there in 20 mins. Gave me three options and made it seem it was really hard work but he can do it quick. He pumps some air and and picks the lock and charged me $220. I told him that I just change another place for $175 with installation of a new lock. Then he went down to $200 to $175 and finally to $160 and said this are Sunday rates and couldn't do any better. 4 mins of work for $160 and I asked him to be reasonable. He said this is reasonable and any other place would charge more. I spoke with a lock smith and he would charge $40 - 60 to the same work and emergency would be $90-$100 max. read more

I couldn't get in one of my rooms and called Hudson Locksmith to come the next day. The guy said it would be $15 plus whatever labor and material requires. I made an appointment for the next day and the guy came almost an hour late. What's worse, he charged me $179 + $15 for a 2 minute job to have the door opened. It's outrageous!!! Home door - key stuck in door lock. Came within a half an hour which was awesome but took over an hour to fix and them charged me $360.00 service charge, lockout service charge and cost to replace the tumbler inside the lock but did not replace any hardware. Seems totally like I got ripped off. read more

Nice guy, really fast arrival (under 7 minutes) and he opened the lock pretty quickly (I may need to consider better locks...). I called Hudson Locksmith after calling several other locksmiths to get my apartment rekeyed. They had reasonable prices and was able to help me the same week. Shai was responsive and knew a lot about safety of the different locks. He even helped me install another lock that I bought from Home Depot.
