Worst of all though was that he didn't seem to have a full grasp of the relevant electrical code, despite supposedly himself being an inspector, and clearly hadn't read the Tesla charger installation manual (see attached picture). He said he would install #6 romex wire (no conduit) as he has done in many other installations. But romex wire is only rated for a 60°C temperatures (not 90°C like say THWN-2 wire). The tesla installation manual on page 5 states "If installing for maximum power, use minimum 6 AWG, 90° C-rated copper wire for conductors. NOTE: Upsize conductors if necessary" https://www.tesla.com/sites/default/files/support/charging/Gen3_WallConnector_Installation_Manual.pdf Supposedly Mike has gone through Tesla's training for installing the wall charger. I guess he wasn't listening in that class. When I pointed out the minimum #6 wire specification from the Tesla manual, he stormed off and left boiling with rage. For those that are interested, the following thread explains why #6 romex is not code compliant for a 48A continuous load like a Tesla Charger: https://forums.mikeholt.com/threads/tesla-charging-station.2561702/post-2709508 Anyone who has had the misfortune of having their tesla charger installed by mike using #6 romex would need to reduce their breaker size to 50A and set their Tesla charger to a lower 40A max charging rate to not exceed the ampacity of the #6 romex. ------- Update following Mike's reply: NEC 240.4b is irrelevant and raising this as a justification for ignoring the instructions in the Tesla Wall Charger installation manual just further highlights Mike's lack of understanding and willingness to accept and correct his mistake. 240.4b relates to the breakers (OCPD). The issue here is not the breakers, it's whether the wire connected to the breakers is rated to pass a CONTINUOUS current of 48 amps (the max charging rate of the Tesla charger). NEC 210.19 Conductors-Minimum Ampacity and Size is key here and says: "The conductor ampacity may require other correction or adjustment factors applicable to the conductor installation. a.Where a branch circuit supplies *continuous* loads or any combination of continuous and noncontinuous loads, the minimum branch-circuit conductor size shall have an allowable ampacity not less than the noncontinuous load plus *125% of the continuous load*." Perhaps Mike does not realize that a Tesla charger is treated in code as a continuous load and therefore requires a 125% adjustment factor in the current? If the continuous load is 48A, then 125% of the continuous load is 60A. By Mike's own admission below, #6 Romex is only rated for 55A, not 60A, so it's too low of a specification. Putting a 55A capable wire on a 60A breaker, doesn't magically make the wire able to handle more continuous current. Sure you can save a few bucks by installing #6 Romex instead of #6 THWN within conduit, or even #4 Romex, but doesn't meet the requirements of Tesla and it doesn't meet code. AC going out in the dead of summer is never a good thing. We had the worry free protection plan from the local utility but it was already too late, the compressor had died and it was time for a full replacement. Naturally the local utility offer replacement services so we got a quote from them. Luckily, we also got quotes from two other companies. The local utility was way overpriced by comparison. For the same price of the basic system that the local utility had offered, we got an upgraded two stage system with an air cleaner from ICS. ICS did offer financing but it's in a more straight up manner versus the 'interest free' yet inflated system cost of other competitors. The install was super smooth. The project manager was in communication the entire time, keeping us updated on progress of the install and what was going on. The team was really respectful and cleaned up before finishing the job. The install itself was super organized, our hvac before was kind of an eye sore but now it looks like a sophisticated system. As far as performance, it's night and day. Previously our system struggled to cool more than 20 degrees below the outside temp. But now it just sits at the proper temp all day long regardless of how hot it is outside with only about a one degree of deviation. And the two stage system really does make for a more comfortable environment.

Sent them copies of the receipt, delivery confirmation from usps with exact time of delivery. I notified them that it was sent and then heard from them over a month afterwards saying I never paid. Then tried to charge late fees. I agreed to send new wire but minus the additional costs incurred for cancellation of check (seemingly small request) and rewiring funds but they insisted on full amount and di accept and are now threatening mechanics liens and over $3330 due. Anyways, I highly recommend NOT working with this company. If you even slightly don't agree with a final invoice they will threaten mechanic liens or send it to collections. Even without any signed contract. Willing to pay services rendered, minus the double costs on my end for them losing the check. Not a big ask. But they seemingly want to turn it into a bigger payday. They have my info if they want to settle.

Here is my experience: - Greentree Toyota in Danbury: has a "key guy" who visits only on Wednesdays from 3:30 to 4:00, and nobody at the dealership can help with keys. - Rivera Toyota in My Kisco: I would have to get the car towed to Mt Kisco, then they have to wipe the car's computer clean, then send to Toyota Central for two new keys. Total cost over $1,100. - Bob at Village Lock and Key: drove to my house and in 15 minutes I had 3 new working keys, at a small fraction of the cost from Rivera in My Kisco; and no towing.
