I originally came in on a Saturday to make a copy of a regular standard key. The owner is a very nice lady who charged me $4 + tax for one key. I paid $10 for two. She also reminded me that I can always come back if they don't work, satisfaction guaranteed. Only one of the keys ended up working so I returned on a Monday. I was serviced by her son, who also quickly made me an additional copy, as well as attempted to fix the non-working copy. Unfortunately, neither of these worked as well. Third times the charm -- I returned on Tuesday and the owner helped me make 3 additional copies, one of which was done in a special way. Alas, that one worked very smoothly, while the other two a bit rough. She even offered for me to bring the original and the 2 rough copies so that she can run it on the machine again. Talk about great customer service!! I've worked in a shop that made key copies before, so I know they can be finicky. I did not mind having to return to the shop multiple times because I know I'm working with people who are honest and genuinely want to help. I've had very poor experiences with other locksmiths before who take advantage of people who are locked out and vulnerable by up-charging. They just go straight to drilling and replacing with a subpar lock. I can tell that the people at Empire Lock are NOT like that!! I'm so happy I found a neighborhood gem. She texted beforehand to let us know her timing so we could take care of other business before meeting her. I went to Crest to have a key made and they couldn't do it. They sent me to Empire Lock. The key worked, which is not always guaranteed when you have a lock made. They also offered a discount for checking in on Yelp. That being said, the key still cost about 5X what keys typically cost, so tough to rate higher. read more

I called this company on Monday 4/24 at 3:57 pm for help me cause i lost my son's car key this man comes and open my car but can't get the key program after working on my car for over 2 or 3 hours car is working he tells my son he needs to leave to do other jobs and he tells my son to leave the car on for 90 mins, and he will come back we told him we will do it tomorrow cause it was late. He calls me over the phone and tells me the same thing we confirm for Tuesday. Myself and my son was unavailable during the day after 2 pm the tech came back out and put something on my batterie yes another tech came for the first time but the first tech is had his hands and his tools still nothing. We found the key when we went to start the car it would not ok we purchased a new batterie nothing so we call the tech and asked him to come back and program the key he refused and stories where made up like one tech turned into five techs were touching the car and he was the first and last one to touch my car also left me 2 keys. I used to go to the big hardware stores to get keys copied. I usually get a couple extra copies made because the copies don't always work - the keymakers at these big stores are always in a rush it seems. Luckily I tried Empire a few months ago. I've never seen somebody so careful making keys. I've had dozens of keys made here and they have always worked. Now I go out of my way every time I need a key copied. These guys are the bomb!
