My aunts and I were super hungry one afternoon and we stopped in. It was my first time and probably their 50th since they live close to the restaurant. The restaurant was clean and I was surprised it wasn't jammed packed! We were greeted and asked for a few minutes to browse all of the different kinds of empanadas! There were so many from chicken filled to Philly cheesesteak and fruit filled empanadas! I picked a beef one and a Philly cheesesteak it came with a sauce to put on top. IT WAS DELICIOUS! I could eat 10 in a row! I will definitely be back! I just hate that parking is so bad in that area. read more

Empanada or Nada is an interesting name. There is a little bit of both. My wife has been talking about this place for a while now and we were walking we decided to stop in. I know some people judge a place based on the traffic inside. Something was lacking, though, when we walked in. It felt empty to say the least. They had a limited selection on an early Sunday, which was surprising. I really wanted to try the pizza and the Philly cheesesteak but they were out. We sampled the Cuban, Buffalo chicken, Chicken bacon ranch, and plain beef paired with a spicy mayo sauce. The empanadas were tasty, but nothing amazing. We enjoyed the Cuban the most. My other gripe is that there are no sides, fries, plantains, rice. Nothing. They took their name too literally. If they add sides in the future, I'll be more willing to visit again. read more

I stumbled upon this place on a Saturday afternoon in downtown Montclair. The variety of empanadas in the menu looked interesting enough for me to try. Their menu includes several vegan/vegetarian options, and I ended up ordering the two vegan ones that this place offers. They were decent, but I've had better tasting empanadas, so I was a bit disappointed. Love the walls in here, the fast service, friendly staff, and the array of empanadas that both veggie and meat eaters can enjoy. I can not suggest the eggplant parm one enough. The eggplant is cooked correctly, the flavor tastes like ya nonas Sunday dinner. Nutella banana was okay, I think it needed to be cooked more. It should have been a bit more creamy. However, you can tell how fresh the banana were. These are baked freshly, but I think they need a little more time. Both could have used an extra minute to give a bit more of a bite. All are $4. Can't wait to come back for a smack when in town. Tasty and hit the spot. Came in for a snack before dinner and tried the beef and cheese and guava with cheese empanadas. I placed my order to go and it took about 10min to heat and prepare everything. The case was filled with a variety of different flavors. The flavors were good and I liked that it didn't seem greasy and the shell was on the thinner side. Overall would definitely come back to try other flavors! read more

Silly of me to run in there to try just ONE empanada. I had the guava and cheese while I was waiting on my order from another restaurant and I felt conflicted at first bite- should I cancel the order from the other place? Lol. Delicious food and wonderful service from Crystal. I had the Philly cheesesteak empanada, and the Cuban empanada. Both were delicious, and it's hard to say which one I like more, although the Cuban had a very strong flavor that I really liked. Crystal was so friendly and helpful and very prompt. They don't Seel authentic empanadas. It's all fusion flavors like Philly cheesesteak and eggplant parm. I Tried the eggplant parm based on their recommendation, and it was 90% breading inside. I don't see myself trying this spot again as I prefer authentic Argentinian empanadas. read more

The empanadas were really good - seasoned well, without being too spicy! The service was great- the cashier was very friendly and attentive. He made sure he even described on our bag which was what. The service was also very fast. I was in and out in minutes, with the empanadas having been warmed up and everything. The ambiance was very serene. Delicious!! Amazing!! These empanadas are a pleasant change to the tradition hard shell ones. These are flaky and tasty. I just keep shaking my head, just when I thought you can't do anymore with empanadas.. boom this happens. I was greeted by a young lady with a warm smile and two different empanada assortments display. I automatically got the Cuban. The second was tough to decide. Finally picked chicken with house sauce and a tea. It's like biting into a soft flaky goodness with a lot of yummy stuffing. I think I might have another one. They are unbelievably good!! Place is a little sparse, and may look a little empty, but don't let that stop you from stopping by. I am used to empanadas primarily being meat or chicken based, but there are endless options here for not just the vegetarian, but the picky all plant-based vegan eater!! I'm a vegetarian but I was able to enticing meat flavors well suited for people in my family that aren't quite as snobby. The sauces they come with are addicting too!! Different from the way us Dominicans make ours. These are baked not fried. But I must admit that the one Cuban Empanada I got was actually better and more flavorful than the sandwiches I get at the local Spanish restaurants. It should be illegal to pack that much flavor into a not so guilty pint size sandwich. The crust was buttery and complemented the filling. I was very impressed. Not a fan! Not enough empanada and too much nada! Too doughy! I tried the veggie one! And the Nutella banana as well! Hardly tasted any Nutella. It was mostly banana and dough!? Overall these empanadas don't taste fresh to me and way too much dough, dry and not enough filling. Also, they charge $.50 for the sauce that comes with the savory empanada if you don't order two. If you order two savory empanadas, the sauce comes free. I don't know that seems kind of lame to me. Just my opinion. A little empanada place right in the heart of Bloomfield Ave. You cannot go wrong if you are in the area and craving a little snack. The empanadas are good here and there are so many different flavors to chose from. Upon walking towards the counter, all the different flavors are on display. NOT FAMILY FRIENDLY! Steer clear if you have little ones. As my family and I entered the establishment today, there are a myriad of signs on the front door, specifically no outside food or wagon strollers. Luckily, we did not have a wagon stroller and were not consuming the cookies we purchased a few minutes ago from Chip City (delicious, by the way), so we proceeded inside. As we are deciding which empanadas we want, my 1.5 year old asked for a piece of the cookie we just bought. As I opened the bag to break of a piece for my child, an employee shouted "Ma'am, you cannot eat outside food in here!" I explained to her that it's for my child (who is screaming "More, please!" at this point, as we're waiting to order. She further exclaimed that we would need to leave if she wants to have a piece. So, that's exactly what we did. We left. It's a shame, I do enjoy these empanadas and drive 30 minutes to get them as often as I can. I don't think I'll be patronizing this restaurant any longer. This interaction with the staff has left a sour taste in my mouth. I doubt the owner or manager will ever see this. I know these policies are in place for a specific reason and completely understand why they are enforced. However, how your employees speak to customers and enforce these rules matters. read more

I have to drop a star for the sauce which is really strange; it's the orange duck sauce you'd find at a Chinese takeout place combined with mayo? Idk but it was the weirdest sauce I have ever had with an empanada. Argentinian empanadas are not usually served with sauce, so if that is the style they are going for, better to not included a sauce. Or just use a standard hot sauce. They had a variety of flavors and I really couldn't make up my mind. I ended up trying the beef and Philly cheesesteak. We actually didn't end up eating these until the morning after. I couldn't take more than 1 bite Guava cheese- Good *the sauce they give with the empanadas- OUT OF THIS WORLD The idea is good but unfortunately I wouldn't return as i think the high cost doesn't match the quality.
