We tried Stella's Empanadas at a pop up at the NJ expo center during Christmas Con. We weren't disappointed from the affordable price to the unique/classic flavors. We tried the beef and cheese, Mac and 5 cheeses and the baked apple pie. The beef and cheese was well seasoned with minimal cheese pull, the Mac and 5 cheese was not too soft and cheesy and the baked apple pie had just the right amount of cinnamon. Overall, the empanada shells were crispy not soggy and just the right amount of airy. I would totally eat them again.

One of the three yummy empanadas I tried!

Visited them at Christmas Con 2021 at the NJ Expo Center. I tried the BBQ Pork Empanada, the Mac and 4Cheeses Empanada and the Apple Pie Empanada! All were a great texture and had a nice flavor. Everything was at a nice temperature despite being at a remote location which was impressive. My fave was definitely the Mac n 4Cheeses!

STELLAS EMPANADAS are delicious! we picked some up today at the Scotch Plains farmers market they had stacks of them lined up in cute pizza boxes you get six to an order for a great price! we're trying all the vegan options and there are a lot of them!?the caprese is filled with mince tofu fresh tomatoes basil and chinichura sauce the list of fillings is huge the crispy soft handmade shell is a treat just by itself

Stella's stand is a mainstay in the grove street farmer's market. $2.50 for 1 empanada or $20 for a dozen, they are the more affordable food options at the market. I got the spicy chicken and beef and potato empanadas. My favorite is the beef and potato empanada. It's flavorful and moist. The spicy chicken comes shredded and it was a little dry. The skin was not crispy, probably because i got the empanadas from their mobile stand. I will be back to try their other flavors!

    Caprese empanada, a must get

After having Stellas Book marked on my Yelp list for awhile, i finally made the treck over here. The empanadas here are not skimp at all! They deff pack them to the rim and they are big. Not to mention, at $2 each thats a steal. However, they do have deals such as 6 for $8.50. The dessert Argentine Cheesecake was my fave. Ive never had a cheesecake empanada but this opened my eyes to a whole new world! The second favorite was the Calabrese. A little bit of italian flavor thrown into ths mix was a great idea. If youre not a fan of cheese, i wouldnt suggest getting this one....because it is cheesey to the max. Speaking of cheese, i even tried the mac n cheese. Now at first thought, youd think this would have been my fave however, it didnt deliver. Not sure if its their rue, or the cheese they use..but i just was not a fan of the flavor of the cheese sauce and mix in it. I liked that theres deals, theyre big, you can sit and eat, and they even have a whole menu for vegetarians ! I would reccomend this place to anyone, its a great spot for a quick snack!

Right here we got the philly cheesestake empanada! The cheddar potato! Lastly the Mac and cheese empanada!

We love fun tasty empanadas creations out of the usual chicken, beef or cheese. Right here we got the philly cheesestake empanada! The cheddar potato! Lastly the Mac and cheese empanada! These were amazingly tasty empanadas.

Tango Burger (front) and Beef Milenese Sandwich (back)

It's a small shop but the food is amazing. My favorite empanadas are the Philly cheese and the beef and cheese. The empanadas are packed full of fresh ingredients locally sourced and they're filling. Tried the Tango Burger which was cooked well and extremely moisted. The chimichurri sauce over it was different and added to the flavors of the burger. My step-dad got the Beef Milenese Sandwich which he enjoyed but was a little dry for him. They had a $20 for 13 empanadas (cash only) special when I walked in today. And you can tell how good the food is by the amount of takeout boxes people are constantly picking up throughout the day

Food was absolutely amazing! Ordered delivery on a Friday night, it came fast and everything was fresh. Best empanadas I've ever had, hands down. Also ordered a salad and a burger, both were great!

"You won't want to cook anymore" he tells us a bit later. He's not wrong. I had the fish special, cod, served puttanesca, with mash potatoes and spinach. He had the rigatoni bolognese. Perfectly cooked pasta. "Everything is homemade," Angelo explained later. Smart and fairly well-priced wine list. We asked why the 2020 Carparzo Brunello di Montalcino was so low priced, and learned the wine has been priced the same since their father closed their Upper East Side location and the kids opened in Newark. "New York food at NJ prices," Angelo explained. "I've never had tiramisu I've liked better", husband told me. "I've never had flan Ive liked better" I told him. (It is coconut flan.) Great service. We were seated at a table and instantly impressed by the friendliness of the waiter and visit from the pwner. The menu is classic Italian food (no pizza). They bring out a plate of bruschetta on crostini bread which was fresh and delicious. For food, we had Veal piccata and Chicken Francese. My son had Pasta bolognese. Definitely prefer the chicken over the veal, and my son ate his whole,e bowl ao Id say the bolognese is really good too. Veal was just a little tough but the sauce was totally on point, saved the meal. We will absolutely come back to try more dishes. Homemade pasta will def be next visit. Excellent ambience and great friendly staff. Love it.

(I believe Nino's II existed for a quick moment up there in North Arlington but my memory ain't what it used to be.) After driving past (the original) Nino's on the way home from work for the last few months I realized I was overdue for a visit. First thing: from the outside it looks a bit weathered but inside? It's vibrant and lively and eased my initial concerns. (As soon as I walked in at the very first table was a little kid and his abuela. He made it a point to interact with me coming and leaving and that kid made my day... he's getting 5-stars for being awesome!) As for the pizza... it's a respectable "large" - they ain't skimping, which is a nice change of pace. (Hats off to the pizzaiolo because it wasn't a true/normal/expected circle but something closer to a Reuleaux triangle mixed with a squircle.) Geometry aside... the pie tasted good. Nothing flashy or fancy - just a legit (thin) pie. The (steak) fries were a bit bland and boring, I can't lie. And their cavatelli and broccoli was... decent. It would've benefited from a bit more 'pop' (salt, olive oil, garlic, you name it.) I haven't been here in eons and I hope they'll be around for another 40-something-years. Worth mentioning: it's one of the very few pizzerias to have a liquor license. (I'd definitely come back again for the not-so-perfectly-round pizza but would pass on the fries and pasta...)

We all enjoyed it. My hubby got pork chops and I got grilled cod special, delicious. My son and his girlfriend had sirloin and New York steak. The steak was cooked as ordered but seasoning was not really happening and it took a while to cut up the NY steak. So when my son was about halfway done, he went to add more salt and pepper. The pepper shaker top fell off and spilled all over his steak. We told one of the bus boys and he put the cap on like we asked, "How do we put this back on?" And walked away. I asked for a manager and they cooked him another steak so they made up for it. The reason for the 4 stars is the taste of the steak. Expensive but not tasty. Place was nice and again they did make the pepper incident up. Nice experience but not good enough to want to go back. I'll try another one in the area if we are ever there again. But would recommend to try it maybe your experience will be different.

You then walk up the stairs to get to the host. It is a little bit confusing the first time you visit. There is also an option to go downstairs to another party area. There is a very small ladies room by the host. But, if there is a long wait. There is a larger ladies room downstairs. This is important to know if you are in a rush to get to your show. You will be seated when your entire party has arrived. Another good thing to know for planning. There were four of us and both couples decided to split a picture of Red sangria, the chorizo, appetizer, 2 pork chops and garlic sauce entrees and 2 vegetarian paellas. The chorizo was fine. The complementary bread could have been better (not warm, and not what I am used to at this kind of restaurant), but was ok. The pork chops were excellent! The vegetarian paella was good. They actually worked very well together. We were also served fried thin slices of potatoes and broccoli and carrots. The coffee was fabulous as was the limoncello mascarpone cake. Service was excellent and the ambiance in the dining room was busy but nice. If you are going to a show, you can park in the lot on the left and pay $16 for the night. It's a quick 5-10 minute walk to the NJ PAC.

I especially enjoyed the penne pasta with chicken, mushrooms In Cheese sauce. I Enjoyed the pasta in the red sauce. No worries, there is a full service bar to for wine etc. The food was delicious-- but just prior to refills the offerings were like warm, to be kind. The chef was at the station nearby whipping up the refills. So they did not run out of foods. The tables are situated around the Tier with ornate glass and exposed brick and floor to ceiling windows showcasing Newark and the ongoing construction and hustle and bustle around the city. The tables and chairs are quite comfortable and dining on good china, flatware and cloth napkins make the scene more romantic. All the staff were wonderful! They were courteous and helpful. But be ware check out cam get backed up if everyone rushes out at showtime as they only have one credit card /register. They should do something about that. I called in advance and was told I didn't need a reservation. I think I will continue to do that when I go to the next NJPAC event. The venue is just lovely. Kudos to Newark!

We've dined here several times primarily due to convenience and to avoid the lack of street parking and questionable parking lots in the area. We always pre-purchase the NJPAC parking ticket when booking a show; this permits you to park in either the underground Military Park garage (across the street) or, the PAC lot adjacent to the Center, a better choice. Curiously, attendants at ground level always ask to see your tickets, even if dining upstairs at Tier 3. I've never asked if having show tickets was a prerequisite for entering Tier 3. (The "Greeters" also call upstairs to "announce" that your on your way.) The restaurant itself is quite dramatic, set within the curved sweep of architecture that the interior follows; glass and mirrors surround most of the tables; the setting reminds me of many airport restaurants we've spent some time in. Pros: Very convenient parking arrangements if seeing a show. A quick, safe, and easy walk up to the main doors of the NJPAC. We were always seated promptly. A server will take your drink order, soiled table settings are quickly removed, your tab is quickly presented to you when your ready to leave. There was never a line at the buffet nor at the coffee and desert table. In summary, a place to grab a hot meal without a long wait and still have time without rushing to your show since it's in the same building. Cons: Several of the (covered) buffet urns held a fair variety of freshly cooked entre's yet the food was not held at the proper (hot) temperature. Coffee and similar beverages were dispensed at the desert table. Yet again, their temperature was medium warm at best. Coffee cups and saucers had to be replenished when I approached the coffee table; although the manager was steps away, it was I that got his attention to re-supply the table with cups and saucers. Desert offerings consisted of miniature squares of "cake" and were not appealing. The price point for dinner is "expensive" and a poor value. The mixed salads are, by far, your best bet for quality; quite fresh and tasty and being cold and crisp was not a concern. Tier 3 Cafe is not our Go-To restaurant prior to seeing a show at NJPAC. Frankly, we now dine at a quaint Italian neighborhood bistro on Bloomfield Ave near 13th Street when going to the NJPAC. We park on the street across from the restaurant and enjoy good, home-made cooking at about half the price of Tier 3 Cafe and, we don't have to be announced to get a table, nor display any tickets.
