It is your usual americano coffee...but it is not acidic at all (like starbucks), and it goes smoothly to wash down the flan and the custard pies. I just wanted to say how happy I am to find Gio Docinhos! First of all, I loved the store design, it's so beautiful. I ordered different Brazilian truffles for my oldest son's wedding ceremony, all the guests just loved them! They were delicious and so well presented. And then, for my youngest son wedding shower, I ordered the passion fruit mousse, which was a delight! Everybody just loved it, people asking me for the recipe, and going for the second round. Adorable little bakery in Newark. You can tell it's genuinely Brazilian by the people that work there and the types of desserts that you can find. No one really spoke English, but it was simple enough to just point to what you want. We tried the 4 leches and churro cake and both were amazing. There's no place to sit, so you'd have to take whatever you get to go, but their cakes hold up pretty well even after a few hours! When I was there, it seems like there was a couple there ordering a wedding cake (or something of that nature) so I guess they do custom orders as well. read more

This review is solely based on terrible terrible customer service. Unfortunately, I never got to try the actual deserts. I came in to order a simple cake. A kind lady was helping us. Someone else walked in and was being helped, it's impossible to not listen as the place is tiny, they messed up the date for his cake. That was first thing that alarmed me. Then who I assume was the owner, Gio, abruptly and rudely comes out and tells us her team is too busy to help and asked for us to come back. I told her we can't as we live too far, she said she can call so we can discuss details. 6 days after we scheduled a phone call, I'm still waiting. Extremely unprofessional. It was something very simple I wanted, so now I have taken my business elsewhere and for much cheaper price. She wants $120 for a naked cake, which is a joke. Go to any other place and you'll pay half that , with good customer service and can order quickly. Save your time. read more

I am so Happy I chose Gio Docinhos to get my wedding cake done, it was the cake of my dreams. Everybody in my wedding loved it! The cake was beautiful and the taste amazing!
