Went today to purchase guava pastelitos. Was told they were out but they had a different type of guava pastry. I purchased 3. Turned out 1. No guava at all. 2. Gave me a different type (coconut). Daughter is allergic to nuts, thank God I saw it before she touched it. Called to complain, owner's wife took the call. Didn't like the complaint, so she hung up on me. Great Customer Service. Avoid this place. Arcos and Lyndhurst Bakery are better options. read more

Considering Venezuela's Portuguese community is the second (or third) largest in the western hemisphere, after Brazil (of course) - numbering almost as many individuals with Portuguese ancestry in the United States, it's no surprise that this Venezuelan bakery is located near the large Portuguese community in metro New York City (Jersey-side). I thought the coffee was good, the hot chocolate was just okay (I prefer the ones coming out of Venezuelan chocolate shops), but the plethora of Venezuelan dishes here, and the pastries, are where the place shines. As for the fried stuff, they're great when they're freshly made. The place is filled with goodies in the display case, and along the walls, from floor to ceiling, it seems. This un-fussy spot is popular with locals, Venezuelans and non-Venezuelans, as it seems to me to be always crowded. And during December, I'm always impressed to see a constant flow of people coming in just to grab their pre-ordered the traditional Venezuelan Christmas bread pan de jamon (ham-bread). Next time I'm gonna make sure I don't miss out on this! read more

Good food but they'll try to sneak in extra things you don't want to make an extra penny!

Domingos is a home run. I stopped in recently while on a walk and I was pleasantly surprised how good everything was. They have a little outdoor setup with a few tables, chairs and even an umbrella. The ladies behind the counter were more than accommodating. They have a pretty extensive menu which took me a minute to look at and then a ton of dessert options in their display case. I decided to get some empanadas to try and they were absolutely delicious. The chicken and cheese was my favorite but they were really all delicious. They serve them with this green hot sauce that you absolutely cannot skip out on! It's creamy and just the right amount of spice for me - which is not too much hahaha. They also have a great cake decorator working for them. I plan on coming back and ordering a cake in a few weeks. Can't wait to try their Cuban sandwiches and arepas as well! read more

You can always count on their team to provide friendly, fast service. They even remembered my usual order, which made my day. The cleanliness of the entire shop, including behind the counter, was excellent. I had a banana loaf and it was moist, naturally sweet, and comforting. Presentation and taste were both on point. This bakery never disappoints. read more

Good food it's always busy and they take care of you right away. One downside their pastries are a bit too small for the price you pay but other than that they're great awesome place. read more

There pastries are not even fresh here at all. The owner is very nasty. i spoke to him about an issue that i had with my mom's Birthday cake from yesterday. he did care what i had to say. He did walk away from me. Sorry but you don't not run a business like this. He didn't want to give me half of my money back when they messed up the filing of the cake . I will never go here again. read more

What I love about this place is that it is within walking distance of my house, kidding but seriously it is nice. I usually order Uber eats but sometimes I do go in and sit. The bakery is amazing all the pastries are extremely fresh, I always get a breakfast sandwich here. I get a bacon egg and cheese on an arepa with shredded lettuce and pink sauce ! AMAZING. way better than banana king read more

Domingo's Bakery - Bacon egg and cheese arepa - Bakeries Near Me - Kearny, New Jersey

Oh my, I think I just died and went to arepa heaven. Yes, there is such a place, and it's Domingo's Bakery. What a find. Everything here is GOOD. Well-made, fresh and appealing. The ladies who work here are sweet. Quick, efficient and friendly. The cortaditos are STRONG. Be prepared for coffee that will put hair on your chest. The bacon egg and cheese arepa is divine. Fresh, hot (you'll need asbestos gloves to handle it) and with a drizzle of hot green sauce, your breakfast fix is complete. The vibe is unassuming but clean and tidy and very geared to local tastes. Only quibble: they don't make broa read more

Food was amazing, Great service, staff welcoming, and the Ambiance was warm and great music. A+ in my book.

I regret not ordering the tres leches because the desserts look so good in the window. I had the empanadas (picadillo, chicken, ropa vieja) and papa rellena (beef & chicken). It was all very bland and dry. I tried both the red and green sauce, which were tasty but couldn't make up for the disappointing empanadas. I also ordered cafe bonbon, which doesn't make sense because they charge you extra for condensed milk. Still, it was the best thing I ordered. I'm glad I went with the empanadas before venturing out to try the sandwiches. I won't come back for the food but may stop by for a slice of cake. read more

Very weird experience and I didn't like the treatment. I called Domingo's to place a pick up order the value of my order was over $40. Right before the lady was about to repeat my order back to me, she said "you're going to pay right?" I said yes and follows up with "I need a card now and you need to bring a bag" aside from the nasty tone, the request for the bag was just strange. I'm ordering over $40 worth of baked goods, I can't get a plastic bag? Just strange. I asked her if she can repeat my order back to me before I provided her with payment. Everything was right so I paid over the phone. When I arrive, the lady who was at the register asked me for my name and then says my total and paused for a moment and said it was paid for already. I asked her if it was usual to ask for payment over the phone and she looked surprised and some other lady came by and said well you ordered over a $20 dollar limit so we have to ask for payment. I didn't question it any further. Honestly it was just a bizarre and terrible experience. From the tone the lady had on the phone to the fact that the lady at the register didn't know how to answer why I was asked to pay over the phone. It felt like I was being punished for bringing my business there.. read more

2nd time ordering breakfast. The pancakes are delicious and fluffy. Coffee is great they mix some of the ice cubes with coffee ice cubes which I love. I walked in and fell in love!!!! With the pastries and cakes. I was delivering for Uber and had to stop by to pick up a delivery but could not leave without getting a cheesecake. Sometimes we're afraid if we see something on the menu, because we don't want to have the bad version of it; I assure you, this isn't that type of place. Delivery, take out, it doesn't matter. The assortment of pastries are delectable, and the hot food is made to order. The beverages are made with care, as well. Additionally, the iced coffee has coffee ice cubes in it (pro move). I could list my go-to items, but believe me, they're all worth a try. Do yourself a favor. read more

I tried this place on Uber Eats and loved my experience. I ordered the Arepas and loved what I received. I tried the Chicken and Avocado and their version of Arepa de pabellon which is shredded beef, cheese, plantain and black beans. It was delicious! It is my favorite type of Arepa and they nailed it in flavor! The arepa itself was well made, thick and hearty but fluffy. The meats were seasoned and juicy. Along with my order they gave me a free guava and cheese pastry that was really good. Also, a small strawberry slice that was pretty amazing as well. It was fresh and sweet but not overwhelming. I would definitely go to Domingos in person. I've tried their delivery twice and was satisfied both times. read more

I placed an order for a tres leches birthday cake over the phone last week. I love tres leches and have had it many times at various Latin and Brazilian bakeries and restaurants, which is why I wanted to order it. I decided to order it from this bakery because of the great photos and reviews; however, it did not meet my expectations. When I placed the order on the phone, I explained my order 3x because I was transferred to 3 different people due to language barrier. When picking up the cake, I was told the filling inside was incorrect. A gentleman (seemed to be lead baker) was apologetic and kind enough to remake the cake. I waited 30+ minutes for the cake to be remade; therefore, was running late. When the cake was taken out of the box, I noticed that it was CROOKED. When I cut into the cake, it was the WRONG FILLING again - instead of pineapple and Bavarian cream (which is similar to vanilla custard/pudding), it was regular whipped cream with pineapple. When I ate the cake, some parts tasted dry.. as if the cake hadn't been soaked with tres leches. Not sure if this was because they made it last minute. Even my guests said it tasted more like regular cake. The next day I called to express my disappointment. After explaining to the older man (possibly owner) whom I placed the order with, he argued with me that I asked for Bavarian creme filling among other things. I said that is correct that I asked for Bavarian, but I got whipped cream and a crooked cake. Then, he insensitively said, "OK, so what do you want?" I asked for a refund. At first he refused to give me a refund, but then he told me to bring the cake. Then, he said that he knew he shouldn't have taken my order when I called first called. My friend (who also ate the cake) heard the conversation and we appalled. I was very disappointed at his unfriendly tone and response. Even though I had 2/3 of the cake, I decided to let the refund go since I was 2 hours away. Overall, I am highly disappointed with the quality of product, communication, and customer service. Giving 2 stars because I am appreciative that gentleman offered to make a new cake when it was the wrong filling the first time and was kind about it. read more

My last two times they have not been successful. The Casera pastry was not shiny and the dough was dry and tasteless . Domingo's is amazing and makes this Venezuelan very happy that I can finally find amazing authentic Venezuelan food. I have been a customer since they had their first small place down on Passaic Avenue. I'm extremely hard to impress and this place hits a home run every single time. It makes me especially happy to be able to bring my mom who always chats with Sr Domingo and they talk about their town. For me it's always nice to come back to Kearny, my hometown for this great food. I always look forward to it. The father & son duo are great, attentive and so friendly...al fin, Caraqueños! read more

I haven't been here in a while so I'm not sure if they changed owners but the food is average, a little overpriced, and does not taste like authentic Cuban. I am Cuban, I know what one tastes like, lol. The food is neither good or bad but for the price it's not worth it. The bakery section was pretty good which would bring my rating to 3.5 stars. I bought 4 papa rellenas and 2 Cuban sandwiches and it came out to $33! . FYI, they charge an extra fee for using your debit card. The staff was friendly and did make my order exactly how I ordered it. read more

This place is the truth!!! Amazing food and amazing pastries in one spot = Heaven to me! To top it off Domingo and Deloris are great hosts and cooks with love straight from Venezuela. You must try the Arepa and the Hallacas. The dining experience is friendly and refreshing. Today my mom and I were looking for some place local. She was in the mood for chicken and I sweets. I loaded up yelp and found Domingo's Bakery. This place is cool, welcoming and had a nice family flow likes it moms kitchen inside. I love it. We ordered the following: - Cachapas - Arepa with chicken and avocado - Hallacas - water - to go we took like $20 worth of dessert, pastries and sweets! This food was fresh, well flavored and amazing. The Cachapas is a sweet corn pancake with melted cheese inside. The Arepa had awesome grilled chicken with slices of avocado. The Hallacas was corn meal stuffed with chicken, beef and pork that packed and awesome filling punch! Also worth to add it served and presented nicely. All of the food was amazing. The flavors hit on all levels and we loved it. I think it was so good my momma is thinking of downloading Yelp now. This is the first time orang more times to come. Yes I will be back! Yes I will bring Niki K and yes I have to gym and do some cardio for all these goodies Domingo's offers! I hope you have a great time here as we did! Domingo was so dope he even let us sample a cake dessert. FYI - they make fresh cakes, smoothies, empanadas, breakfast and awesome sandwiches!!! Tons of things to try folks read more
