My husband and I went to Emory's for Thanksgiving. I know with so many people coming and going, it can be hard to serve a stellar meal, but if you're charging high-end prices, then you should deliver a high-end meal. Unfortunately, this Thanksgiving meal tasted and looked like it came out of a TV dinner box. The turkey was dry (to the point of almost crunchy), the dressing was burnt on the bottom, and there was no gravy on the potatoes. We had to ask for gravy. Last year, we ate at Emory's. It was good. Between then and this year, something changed. A new chef perhaps? Who knows. But unless you can deliver a quality meal to those who pay to go out for a quality meal, especially on a holiday, close your doors and let people go elsewhere. Next year, I'll go to the store and get an already-cooked turkey breast. It'll be better and less expensive. read more

I've been here a few times, always a nice place to eat. I have sat outside on the deck every-time to enjoy the views of silver lake. Make sure to look up the hours before you go. Emory's is a fantastic restaurant right on Silver Lake. It sits lake side so the whole dining section of the restaurant has water views. The bar has a nice selection of alcohol with a TV sized list of beers available. I also like the selection of whiskys here. On a normal night, the ambiance is date style. I come here a lot on Tuesdays, which is TRIVIA NIGHT! And to be quite honest, it doesn't even really seem me and my group really play trivia because we are drinking. But it's fun anyways, trust me. The food here is pretty good. I haven't had their steaks or fancy entrees, but their happy hour is pretty awesome. The ahi, chicken lettuce wraps, shrimp frittas, flatbreads, and everything else on the happy hour menu is pretty spot on. You really can't go wrong with any of the items on that list. We picked a great day to eat on the patio, so the view is nice. Server was not very attentive, had to flag him down a few times for water and ordering. Had the Northwest salmon dish. Nothing special here, and not the best salmon I've had thus far in Seattle (Five Restaurant and Bistro). Emory's is a family favorite, whether we are getting it to-go or going to sit down and watch the sun set on the lake. My favorites are the calamari, buffalo chicken, buffalo cauliflower, lake house burger, and clams. Happy hour is a wonderful time to go and the service is very kind. read more

I really hate giving bad reviews and generally only do these reviews when I'm incredibly happy with service, food, etc. Just recently celebrated a special birthday with family and had heard about Emory's for years, the menu online looked amazing, so we gave it a try. The good: our waiter was fantastic. Really, really stellar service. And the view is fabulous - right on the lake and it is lovely. The bread before the meal was yummy. The not-so-good: the food .... not good at all. My son ordered the market price salmon ($$$$) and it was awful - we wondered if it was actually even salmon.... Rice was bland. My dish, which we were told had been on the menu for decades was awful. Will definitely make the drive to Duke's or Sea Star or something like that (in same price range) or even Claim Jumper. I REALLY wanted to give this place 5 stars but they definitely fell short. I made reservations online which was pretty simple. Went to the restaurant and was greeted by the young lady up front. It took a couple of minutes to get seated. Our waitress took about ten minutes to come by which was fine. She took our drink orders and I asked if she'd like us to order our entrees as there was an hour before closing - she quickly said oh no no let me get this in first. Okay that's fine. We ordered a ceasar salad split in 2. The drinks came which were fine. The salads came out - this is where it went downhill QUICK. My friend noticed a HAIR on their lemon in the salad! We quickly called over another server and he rushed the plate away. Our server came our apologized and JOKED about oh it must have JUST been an eyelash! Are you KIDDING ME. They brought a new salad which was whatever. For main course we had steak and also the halibut. I asked for only mash potatoes as a side - pretty dang simple. First the wrong dish was brought out, they brought me salmon with the correct sides, they took it back. Then brought out the halibut which had the wrong sides! Overall they charged in full - including for the hair ceasar salad! Such a joke. I really wanted to like this place but I just don't even know if I'd give it another try. read more

The location is good .Was quite busy for a weekday. The food was quite ok. Ordered a couple of things. The house bread with olive oil was very good. Bruschetta - not a fan .. the portion size was way too big like a pizza. Garden green salad was good. The side order of spinach tasted weird. Emory's has been in this location for many years because food and service is fabulous. It's a very busy place in the evening, especially on a Friday or Saturday evening. Sometimes parking can be a challenge but is well worth it. We have been numerous times and have NEVER been disappointed. I highly recommend Emory's for date night or any special occasion. While I appreciate the ambiance of the location, Emory's is way over priced for just mediocre food. I wanted to fall in love with it because of the location. Unfortunately the food is just nowhere near the price tag. They really need to revamp their menu - hire a real good chef and do a complete overhaul. Where do I start? My husband and I were celebrating a very important wedding anniversary and Emory's knew that. Half of the items were not available and the special meal the chef made me was just awful!! The seating was unsatisfactory and it was so hot in that place you could have baked bread at our table, which reminds me; the free roles were as hard as stones. This was my first and only time I have dined at Emory's. One more thing. There should be a sign somewhere that states people of color may dine at this restaurant. Excellent experience at Emory's on Saturday for dinner. We had a reservation for four at 6:15pm and my husband and I arrived at 6pm. To my pleasant surprise we were seated right away at a window table on the lake like I had requested. Even our friends didn't arrive until 6:15, the server got us water and bar drinks while we waited for them. The food was amazing as always. The service was top notch. No long waits for anything. Our server visited our table frequently to see if we needed anything. Empty glasses and plates were bussed quickly. Emory's has always been a favorite but we were concerned that it might not be our usual experience given the staffing shortage in town. Never had a bad experience here! Great outdoor covered seating area overlooking Silver Lake that is well constructed (not the temporary tent kind) with a fireplace. The oil for the bread is amazing- so much garlicy goodness. Seafood is fresh and flavorful. The happy hour here is bomb! You would think that it's bougie but the folks are pretty mellow. There is live music on some nights, but that's not really my thing. The food is great and the drinks are stiff. The fried green beans are something to write about. Crispy and tender, mmm-mmm. The service was fast and friendly and allowed me to take my time soaking in the rare seattle sun while I ate my salmon. I couldn't give it five stars because I had a caprese salmon dish that wasn't the greatest, but I have heard through the grapevine that the chef changed the recipe a bit since I've been there and I am eager to try it again. My two daughters and I had dinner there last night. We sat out on the deck and even though the little hydros were making a lot of noise as they went by the restaurant, it was still nice to sit and watch them. Our waitstaff person was very attentive and knowledgeable and very engaging to talk to. What we didn't like to watch and over hear were what appeared to be the "managers" and the way they addressed their staff in front of all of us. To call them out on something in front of us was totally uncalled for. Both were older people who apparently didn't mind calling attention to themselves as they berated the staff in front of the patrons. The good news is that the restaurant is beautiful, the ambience is very cozy, and the staff is lovely! The food, however, left a lot to be desired...we had the Cod entree, the pork chop entree, and the Steelhead entree...none of these dishes had flavor at all...it's like they forgot to season anything. The rice was awful and also flavorless. The only saving grace was the tempura asparagus...this I would order again in a heartbeat! I hate to leave a negative review, but do so in the hopes that it will encourage the restaurant to step up their game! I hear that Anthony's now owns Emory's? Great setting, especially the outdoor patio in summer. Staff were lovely, food was just ok.

Big Picture: Emory's happy hour food and prices look promising but as a formal semi-upscale dining experience the food dissapoints. The Good: Service was friendly and prompt and the atmosphere was pleasant. Nice beer and wine selection. The Bad: Unfortunately the food was sub-par. The fried calamari can best be described as "popcorn calamari" - more fried bread than calamari and the dipping sauce was sweet rather than savory. If you are just in the mood for fried anything, then I suppose this will do in a pinch. The Lettuce wraps were disappointing compared to other places we've been - again sweet and sugary with lettuce "cups" that were more like leaves so the experience was not quite right and heavy on the tie noodles. Not as good as say PF Changs lettuce cups. I had the tortellini which was just OK and I must say improved the next day as leftovers. The pizza looked promising but I did not try it. The salmon salad was probably the best item we tried. The salmon was a bit over cooked and on the dry side but still better than the rest of the stuff we tried. The Final Analysis: As a sit-down $20 per plate dining experience (including beverage), I'd give it 2 stars. I will try again during happy hour and try the pizza and beer. I'd bet they get 4 stars for price and quality when rating stricktly as a happy hour bar food experience. read more
