Food poisoning. Finally got a chance to take my wife out on a date night. We ordered crab spinach artichoke dip for an appetizer then rib eye and salmon fettuccini for our main course. We shared each other's dishes. About three hours or so after dinner we got super sick. To the point where we couldn't even hold down water. After 30 hours we recovered and called to inform the restaurant. My wife, who made the call, was told they would be sending us something in the mail. Nothing came. Then she called and told them nothing came and they responded by saying they don't know anything about the situation. Both times we talked to managers. I enjoyed a delicious meal with a good friend last week and the salads were out of this world!! I had the Shrimp Louie salad and literally was shocked at how fresh, beautiful and big it was! And it was absolutely delicious. My friend had the Chicken Caesar salad and it was fantastic as well. The garlic mashed potato side dishes we ordered were to die for. And the bread and dipping (herbed) oil were soooo good, I even drizzled the oil on my garlic mashed potatoes. Emory's is a restaurant where I'd love to share with my whole family. We went to Emory's with no expectations and were blown away by our experience, especially with the warm hospitality that's missing from many of our "fancier" restaurants. It was comforting without feeling kitch-y, fancy without feeling uncomfortable and stuffy. We were taken straight to the covered outdoor seating next to the lake after disclosing that it was our very first dining experience at Emory's. The menu is vast and a little intimidating. My partner ordered the Chef's special swordfish entree and I ordered the seafood risotto. We shared a nice (very up-charged) bottle of red wine from Alki Winery and the crab & artichoke dip. If you're looking to have well done, elevated comfort food that is just SOLID, this was it. We weren't mind-blown by any of the dishes with flavors we've never experienced, but everything was still delightful. The decor was homey and warm. The staff was friendly and insightful. We got lucky with outdoor seating, getting the prime seats made our night! Was glad when this place changed hands. The old management could be quite rude and had this air about them that Emory's was a much better place than it actually was. It kept us out of their for a long time because we don't do rude. The building was always pretty nice and the view, but it was kind of like a glorified sports bar to us. Went back again for the first time since Anthony's took over. A Wednesday between 5-6. The place was fairly empty, in spite of great weather. The Service was good, but it was a tad slow. We asked for salads before the meal and was also hoping for bread before the meal. The bread finally came, then right away, the salad- then right away the full meal. Might be nice to have bread, a few minutes later the salad, let us finish it, then the full meal. I don't blame the server for this, she was great and we tipped her as such. The drinks took a long time to arrive as well. Finally, the menu used to be a lot more varied and also had more flavor, or that's what I remember. Last night, there were 2 steaks on the menu and most of the rest seafood and pizza. I can go to Giorgios in Everett for a great pizza (you should too) and we're not seafood eaters. The place has always been overpriced. Since we ate outside, it was worth it, but inside, eh, woulda been noisy and not a big deal. They tack a 3% fee on for their kitchen help. I guess that's ok, but why not just roll it into the actual pricing? One good thing: Old Emory's used to tack a 15%(?) fee on for tips to the bill. If you weren't watching carefully, you'd end up double tipping, which happened to us. They seemed to have done away with that. We probably won't go back any time soon. Have always wanted to try this place and it is right on the lake. Perfect setting for a belated mother's day dinner with my wife. Service was excellent. Had to ask for the complementary bread that I thought just came with the entree. The food tasted okay, nothing really special. I had the wagyu steak and prawns. Good portion size on the steak, however wasn't as tender as I had expected. Flavor of steak was okay, but not great. Garlic steak butter was overpowering. Garlic mash and asparagus were good. 3/5 on my dish. My wife had the seafood bouillabaisse and didn't really like it at all. Seafood had the flavor cooked out of it and smelled off. Onions weren't cut very well and was awkward to eat. 2/5 on her dish. Calamari appetizer was okay, aioli basically tasted like mayonnaise. Calamari could have had more seasoning. 2/5. Value for the food was 2/5. I wish the food would have been more epic for the $50 per person. Ambiance was 5/5 on the patio. Overall this meal left many things to desire. If the food would have been better this could easily be a 4/5. Wish I could report better as this restaurant has a lot of potential. Perhaps it was an off night, but i doubt we will be back to experience another. read more

Happy hour prices were great, especially considering the large portions. My friend and I ordered a Caesar salad (standard), the ahi tuna poke stack, and the hot crab, artichoke, and cheese dip. We were both impressed with how much crab was in the dip, and it was fabulous. The ahi tuna was delicious too - and it comes with taro chips that did not disappoint. They have great wine/food specials if you sign up for their club, which is free to do. Parking was limited though for the size of the restaurant. Great views of Silver Lake also. Incredibly disappointed Emory's has been our go to restaurant for special occasions because of their great food and wonderful service. unfortunately, tonight both were less then stellar. we waited over an hour for our entree and then another hour before we could leave. The cod and halibut were both fishy which usually means old. the calamari appetizer was over cooked and leathery. Guess we will be searching for a new special occasion location. read more

Started the meal with delicious bread and an oil dip. Unfortunately that was the high point of my meal. I opted for the roasted Brussels sprouts which were supposed to have a citrus butter and hazelnuts. You could barely see the sprouts under the pile of hazelnuts and bacon. I ate three sprouts. They were undercooked with no crisp at all. The hazel it half's were too large and didn't help the dish. The citrus was nowhere to be found and the sprouts had an odd taste, almost like sharp burning rubber. Not strong but there. I had a cup of clam chowder to go with. I always used to like Anthony's chowder but I've got better chowder in cans at home. It was not as thick as I like and fishy tasting. I couldn't bring myself to eat either dish. As a high note the hubby had the seafood risotto which was delicious. The seafood was perfectly cooked and the flavor was very good as well. We finished up with orange creme brulee which was good but the sugar was a little over burnt, likely because they put a little too much on. It's the first time I've had a brulee that was warm because of melting the sugar. This restaurant is very inviting, it always has been. Will we come back? Probably, but I wouldn't have the chowder or the sprouts again. read more

The seafood risotto was very good! I've never had risotto before so can't judge it in that sense, but I enjoyed it a lot. The clams were good size but a little briny for my liking. Other than that, no complaints and I'm already planning a return visit just to get another taste of that dish. Unfortunately, others at my table didn't enjoy their entrees as much as I did. We all tried the flatbread, it looked great but tasted terrible. The steak was just okay. None of us liked the brussels sprouts appetizer either. As far as service, our server was friendly but not very efficient. We were seated quite a while before she took our food order, in fact, we received and ate most of our appetizer before even placing our food orders. We also waited a while to pay. She then forgot to bring us a box for our leftovers so we had to wait around for that. Great spot to go on a Sunday for Happy Hour! Especially great when the weather is nice and sunny! I had been wanting to try Emory's out for their HH for quite sometime! We decided to go on a beautiful Sunday afternoon. We sat on their back patio, which was covered and screened in. They have patio heaters to keep you warm (on a crisp & sunny fall day!) I imagine in the summer, they probably open up the screens for that beautiful unobstructed view of the lake! Can't beat the location and the view! Sunday's they have happy hour starting when they open which I believe is 1pm. I got the Thai Chicken Skewers. On HH they were $8.50. To me that seemed a little steep for a HH appetizer. I was pleasantly surprised when they came out, the serving size was very generous! Typically HH are small portions, but clearly not an issue at Emory's! Made the $8.50 price tag worth it! They were delicious. So tender, great flavor and not fried (at least they didn't appear to be!) Their HH draft beers were $6 each. Decent list of options, better than some restaurants. I'm a beer snob and my beer standards are high... I like a good variety of Craft Beers to choose from. Emory's probably had about 8 (non-commercialized beer, AKA craft beer) on tap.... and about the same amount of "crap on tap". Gotta appeal to the masses, I suppose! Overall, I enjoyed HH at Emory's. We really wanted to love this place, but we won't be going back. My husband got a pizza. It was okay, but Mod Pizza is much better. I got the seafood risotto. Dry, oddly crunchy, and the shrimp and scallops were cooked to death. It was almost as if they were boiled ahead of time and sat in hot water until they were ready to go on a meal. We were happy to discover that Emory's has an extensive and reasonably priced happy hour menu. We each had a caesar salad and we shared a Palermo pizza. The salads were classic caesars made to Anthony's high standards. The pizza, on the other hand, was very strange. The description on the menu included sausage, pepperoni, smoked mozzarella, fontina and provolone. Instead, the pizza was smothered in cheddar cheese. It wasn't good, and we should have sent it back. Just an okay experience for lunch. The restaurant is well kept and in a nice location. Nice view of the lake, outdoor patio with fire place, umbrellas at each table. Staff was very nice as well but the food and drink were very subpar for an above average price point. We ordered an Amigo and Huckleberry Margarita, both came out very late (printer issue) after appetizers, they were also very sweet and tasted like all mixer. The Crispy brussel sprout appetizers were okay, but they cut a slice of square cheese in half and lay it on the top to melt. It want very appealing. The tuna tartar was okay, it seemed like they tried to combine a Spanish guacamole between seaweed and the tuna so the spices were a bit conflicting. My husband also ordered steak skewers, the waitress kindly told us the kitchen tends to overcook the meat, so we forwent our usual medium for rare, yet the meat still came out medium well, and for 3 skewers consisting mainly of vegetables the meal didn't seem worth the price point. We left so disappointed. What happened since the last time we dined there? Apparently Anthony's bought the restaurant. My food was pretty much untouched. Worst steak I've ever had. Had to be sent back because it was undercooked and the food was barely warm. They brought it back after I'm guessing putting it in the microwave. Doesn't matter. Barely put a dent in a 62 dollar meal. When asked if I wanted a box I said no. That was it. No manager ever came over to apologize about the way it arrived to begin with. Go to the Keg instead. Constant excuses about the cook staff not being able to deliver food on time. I'm sure they would love to know it's all their fault. The manager is as hostile as they come.
