My fam decided to go to Ember while in the area during an off-season weekend. It was our cousin's birthday, and we were in the mood for a big, awesome meal. We called ahead and made a reservation, and our table was ready shortly after our arrival. We waited long enough to figure out what we wanted- I don't remember the name of the pizza I ordered, but it had giant, delicious scallops on it, with huge strips of bacon... I'm not a huge bacon fan, but I was sharing so I rolled with it. Our table of six ordered appetizers, and those were great! Fried mozzarella, boneless hot wings, spinach dip- all really fantastic. The dining room was really, really loud, because of the open concept style, and the high ceilings, I'd guess. The ladies at the table behind us looked like the Real Housewives of the South Shore, and the crowd overall, was mixed, bougie people and normal people. I can't imagine coming here in the summer, I feel like the crowd would be incredibly annoying. We waited a long time for the pizza. I noticed the chef squirting crazy amounts of clarified butter on every pizza that came in front of him, so I expected everything to taste pretty good. When the pizzas finally came, everything looked so amazing on the table that I took a panoramic picture of the meal. Then, we all started eating... and we realized that there was a fine layer of charcoal coating the underside of all four pizzas they we'd ordered :-( This wasn't a normal amount of char, this was a seriously overwhelming amount of blackened cheese, grease, who knows what, completely coating the bottoms of our pizzas. I ate about a slice, and felt sick to my stomach and kinda grossed out when I looked at my hands and saw how black my fingers were. We sent the pizzas back, and the waitress was really nice about it, offering to send out new ones. At first we were like "yeah, ok" but then after seeing one of them come back in the exact same condition, I tried to cancel mine. I really didn't want another disgusting burnt pizza to take back to our little cottage. I wasn't going to eat it. The waitress said it was already in, and I didn't want to be a jerk so I just went with it... so I guess I shouldn't have been surprised when it was still on the bill when the time came to pay. DISCLAIMER: I'm not one of those people who bitches about the cost of a good meal. But I am a person who bitches about the cost of a bad one. As nice as the server was otherwise, those pizzas were bad. They were bad, plain and simple. No one enjoyed their meal, and honestly, we were out as a family and didn't want to make a scene or a fuss... but I guess I should have demanded to see a manager, and explained that clearly the cooking surface inside the oven was filthy, and that's why a layer of charcoal dust was on my pizza, my fingers and now, in my teeth and mouth. No joke, when I went into the restroom to wash my hands after the meal, I had charcoal smeared all around my mouth. Gross, dude. Bottom line: this place is a bit of a mess. I don't like to write one star reviews, and I did have decent appetizers, so I'll give it two stars, but I won't be back, and I sincerely recommend that you skip Ember on your next trip to the Cape. read more

As nice as the place is the management seems very incompetent. We had a 7:30 reservation for which we were on time but them had to wait a half hour. Them we were shown to two tables for 6 instead of the table for 12 we had reserved. When we asked why we couldn't have the table we asked for we were told flat out that this was what they had planned for us. I don't like to yell at the help since they don't have the final say so I asked to speak to the manager who has yet to show his face after 15 minutes. I frequent Ember a lot, the food has always been consistent. My review is about the staff. Went in last night and sat at the bar, the blonde girl behind the bar is BEYOND rude. She literally acted annoyed that we sat down...sorry? Everytime I go in the food is very good but the service always sucks. The server either doesnt speak english well (off season) or are so rude!!! Last night the shorter waitress with black hair and huge eyes was flat out mean to a table. Dont be in the service industry if you cant put a smile on your face. Male bartender is nice, the blonde one needs a reality check, she knows nothing about wine and when you only serve beer and wine thats a problem! I gave a star because the food actually is very good but the staff needs more training and to put a smile on. read more

My boyfriend and I are dinner here the other night and it was great! We only waited about ten minutes for an outside table near the giant fire--on a Saturday night! Not bad! We started with corona light on draft YESS, and a sangria. We ordered the spinach dip and it was amazing! Huge and bubbly. I decided on the wedge salad and my boyfriend got the pulled pork pizza. This. Wedge. Salad. I CANT EVEN EXPLAIN. It was so delicious I can't even stop thinking about it. It was huge! The combination of balsamic glaze and blue cheese was absolutely phenomenal. My boyfriend loved his pizza, too! Made on a coal fired oven. Our serve Jill was super sweet and even suggested a bar to go to later that night. We heard about Ember and how great they're pizza was and we were very excited to experience dining there. When we walked in there was a 45 minute wait and so we put our name in a decided to have a beer outside by the bar. This is where things went downhill. My friend and I are 24 and 25 years old. The apparent part time manager who also bartends asked for our IDs to make sure we were of age (fair). He returns my friends ID and puts mine in his pocket calling me out for it being fake. I was shocked because it's a real MA license and so I obviously denied his claim. He refused to return my ID to me saying he simply "thought it looked fake" so that's grounds to confiscate my ID. I told him to go inside and run it through the machine knowing my license was real and he came back out gave it back saying "some fakes still run" but still refused to serve me. The situation continued to escalate as he was speaking down to me and borderline verbally abusing me for trying to con him with my "fake ID". I asked to speak to a manager in which the response i got was "I'm a part time manager but sure I'll get him.. GOOD LUCK" and laughed in my face. At this point another bar tender steps in and they start laughing at me for wanting to speak to someone higher up. He walks me back to the manager on duty and opens with "Hey Scott, some chick wants to complain to you about me calling her out for having a fake" right in front of me. Scott the manager of Ember then approaches me and refuses to take a second look at my license and says "he trusts his staffs opinion". The entire experience was hostile and it was the worst I've ever been spoken to by a staff member of a restaurant. I left crying and very upset. Nope. I practically live next door to Ember, and have given up on trying it. Maybe in the summer it will be better? The first time, I was one of maybe a couple people in there for lunch. It took almost an hour for my pizza to come out. I had to grab the waitress and ask for her to switch it to "to go" since I had an appointment to keep. As soon as I reminded her that I existed, she apologized and immediately brought me my pizza. Soooo.... that tells me that it was sitting for god knows how long, while this very not-busy young lady chatted with her coworker. I can't review that pie, bcs it was cold by the time I got it. However, I tried this place again a couple weeks later for dinner and got to eat the food hot. Still not impressed. The pie managed to be burned on the bottom but barely cooked on top. The appetizer (spinach artichoke dip) was the same. Black burnt chunks floating in tepid dip. I honestly almost sent it back, which I hate doing. If I had been our server, I would have been uncomfortable serving such an unappealing looking dish to guests. I'm tacking on an extra star--reluctantly--bcs the decor is very nice. If this staff learns how to cook, this would be a great place to come! But until then, I can't justify paying jacked up prices for such straight-up lousy food. read more

The only reason I give a star is that the outdoor patio has a cool vibe (beware the mosquitoes after dark), but other than that, there's really no reason to eat at Ember. We had a party of eight seated at a table for 5 or 6 max. It took at least 30 minutes to get our drinks (one beer, one soda, and everyone else had water). We got some of our appetizers by the 40 minute mark, but we didn't get the rest of our food until we got up and tracked down the manager. Even then, it took another 20 minutes. Two of the pizzas were good, the other two were burnt to a crisp. When we approached the manager about the quality of the food, he said, "its brick oven fired, its supposed to be like that." Being from NY, the pizza was subpar at best. The Caesar salad wasn't very good either. When we asked the manager to adjust our bill because of the quality of the food and the lack of service, he was not very willing, and the waitress was not very polite or courteous. I did notice that most of the people there were not locals as I overheard conversations at the firepit. That's usually not a good sign. Overall I would say go to George's for pizza - sometimes the best place is the local watering hole, and not the trendy, foo-foo joint. read more

Solid thin crust pizza, although its hard to recommend since my favorite place is just a block down the street, Georges Pizza. But Ember sets itself apart since its more of a dining experience than fast food and lots of seating and various side dishes that are very good. Oh Ember, how I want to love you. You are so convenient and have an awesome outdoor patio. But every time we order from you (in house or takeout) there is always a major mishap. This time around we waited 45 minutes for a table even though there were 2 empty 4 tops the entire time. We could have eaten and left during that time. The people that ended up being seated there had also waited 45 minutes so it wasn't being held for a reservation. Our pizza arrived cold and undercooked. The chicken tenders were cut so thin there was barely any chicken in them. The kale salad was way too sweet with the candied walnuts, too many figs and sweet dressing. Nachos had a good helping of pulled pork but the overall dish was also too sweet. Another bogus tourist trap. Cape Cod is plastered by badly ran restaurants. If busy, you'll have to sit in their hideous and impersonal bar area with overhead poor lighting, like in a China Closet. Drinks are so weak I could have a dozen and walk out of here. It wasn't just my drink.... oh no my wife's tasted like blueberry kool-aid (pretty sure I've had stronger mineral water). They don't take reservations of under six BUT the girl on the phone says " come before 6 because it's not busy and you can sit outside, SO we get there at 4:45 (which is BEFORE 6) only to be told "oh I'm sorry, all outside seating has been reserved by parties of 10" WTF. If your in a party of less than 10-12 then your treated like a 3rd class pecker-wood. Now I know how the people on the lower decks of the titanic felt!! read more

This was likely some of the worst takeout I've ever had. We ordered a large cheese, a large barbecue chicken, and a small buffalo chicken. The backside of half the slices were burnt beyond recognition. Pizza was served lukewarm (despite being subjected to radioactive heat) & picked up prior to the time promised. Both large pizzas had onions (not a favorite) but no mention of onions in the online menu. The barbecue pizza had some crappy barbecue sauce with some awful salty preservative. The cost for this was appalling: $57.80 for 3 pizzas. Really???? Go elsewhere. You'll be glad you did. Oh, and the ditzy hostess chased down my car in the parking lot because she gave my 15 year-old the signed merchant copy of the receipt. Dope. read more

Restaurant could do more business if they updated the website on a regular basis with current days and hours of operation. Had three different pizza's one of which was gluten free, my daughter loved the crust and states it was one of the better gluten free pizza's. We also had two regular pizza's both of which were greasy and just warm when it arrived at our table. Grease was from the cook putting quite a bit of oil on the pizza's prior to going in the ovens. Sat for 15 min with out any acknowledgement of the wait staff had to wave down a server to ask if we even had a waiter/waitress The waitress got several items we ordered wrong including drinks for example a coke with a lemon in it ... wtf??! The margarita we ordered was 90% ice and tasted like a pina colada ... The food was not made much better ordered buffalo chicken appetizer that came out like coated chicken tenders... I give it 3 stars simply for ambiance and creativity. We had their fig, goat cheese and caramelized onion pizza and it was very unique. The only thing I would recommend would be that the cook needs to watch the time in the oven. Our other pizza- the veggie came out slightly burned. We were too hungry to send it back so we ended up crunching through the bites. The service was good though and the location is so close to sundae school ice cream!!! Such a shame. read more

I have spend every summer for the past 20 years in Harwich Port and I have enjoyed Ember since it opened. however in the past year or 2 it has gone down hill. Inexperienced staff and the quality of food has gone down. I usually get take out but I dined in last night. It took 25 minutes just to get a waiter at our table and his apology was "sorry we are busy and you guys got shafted" which i thought was incredibly unprofessional. We got the same thing i always get the Chicken Pesto pizza and the Teryaki Wings. The wings were great but a little on the salty side. The pizza came out and it had great taste but was almost cold wen it got to the table and it was very oily and flimsy. Over the food was decent... Worse then usual I am usually a very very easy going customer but latley the food has been worse then normal and they do not have the quality of food for me to put up with terrible service. My fiance and I had such high hopes for this place! Desperate for some legit pizza on the cape (could this be considered an oxymoron?) we were sure Ember's connection to Lombardi's would not steer us wrong. We had originally tried going here one night at 10:30 because they make it a point to say they're open until 1 am! They stop seating at 10. So we decided we'd try it out the next day. It was extremely busy due to some sort of town festival but we were seated in 25 minutes. We assumed the noise level would diminish the farther we got from the bar area. There was a group of drunk and disorderly adults whooping it up in the dining room itself which in turn made everyone around them talk louder. I thought maybe we were being overly sensitive but noticed other patrons turning around and looking over in disgust. How surprising it was to me that no one working at the restaurant said anything to them! Which could be done very non-chalantly and professionally. Our waitress was a little on the rude side for my tastes but I decided to let it slide due to how busy and overwhelming it was. She was barely attentive to our empty water glasses in fact even looking right at our glasses then us then walking away. We ordered a pizza as an appetizer. And boy, are we glad we decided to take this route. A Margherita pizza, in my many many years of eating pizza is fresh mozzarella (preferably whole milk buffalo) with whole leaf basil and Roma tomatoes. What we got was a cheese pizza with tomato slices! The "basil" was dried basil seasoning. The cheese was a shredded (bagged?) mix. Had we known we would have tried something else. So disappointing! I gave 3 stars because the only saving grace was the entrees we ordered. read more

Update: been back numerous times. This has become a go to place for me. The staff had really stepped up their game. The management and the hostess have been nothing but great. (Just take into account that they hire summer help as host that can get really confused during the busy hours) But to all the staffs credit, the crowd here can be massive and hard to control especially with all the families that visit the Cape. I do commend the regular staff in their handling the wait time. The outdoor bar and fire pit that is open even on a cold night in January it can make the wait much more pleasant. Food is above par, some of the best chicken wings on the Cape. The Pizza varies on how long they cook it for. Sometimes it over done and other times it under cooked. I recommend ordering it well done. But, watch out there's a possibility that they may burn it. That's because there oven cooks at like a zillion degrees. Great for cooking piazzas but a nightmare for a very busy kitchen Good staff, good food, nice fire pit, great drinks. read more

The only reason this is not a 1 star review is the outstanding food. Call ahead for take out Skip the restaurant altogether. When we finally got seated after a 45 minute wait, we sat and waited some more - ten minutes. The waitress was rude and seemed bothered that we were there. She said she would be back in just a minute. Another 10 minutes. We ordered appetizers. 20 minutes later they finally arrive. We had almost as long to wait for food as we did waiting for a table. The food was amazing - almost worth enduring the horrible service for. We started with the spinach and artichoke dip. Mmmmmmmm. Best ever. We added Gorgonzola garlic bread and a Greek salad - both superb. Another wait for the main courses, which the waitress blamed on the kitchen. We had the special. A large chicken bacon ranch pizza and a bacon and scallop pizza. Both were outstanding. After we ate - say it with me - we waited. A total of 2.5 hours for five of us to eat dinner. Yes it's summer on Cape Cod; yes they were swamped but No, this wouldn't have made a difference because lousy service would have happened if we were the only group there. Our best advice? Prepare for your taste buds to send you love letters- but also be prepared to call it in and take it out! read more

All the other pizza places in the area either had tremendous wait times, even for take-out, or didn't offer what were were looking for. Initially got excited about another joint's clam's casino pizza, but they were out of clams. Which I didn't think happened on the Cape. Ember offered an acceptable alternative, their scallop pizza, with bacon an asparagus. Also order a pepperoni and mushroom. Thought we were just going to get a handful of bay scallops, but was surprised that the pizza contained a good amount of diver scallops. Liked the thin styled crust, but I think the desired crispiness was lost on the ride back. Also could have been a bit warmer. However, the sauce is tasty. The ingredients were fresh and plentiful. This was probably the worst pizza I've ever eaten, truly and without exaggeration. I was literally nauseated by the level of char and had to leave hungry. The story: We arrived to a moderate crowd and were seated immediately. The interior is nice and the staff was friendly. But the food and drink... that's the one star. Nothing could make up for the worst meal of my life. I ordered a draft and it came to the table barely cool, not cold. This was evidently a sign of what was to come. Warm beer? Yuck. We ordered two coal fired pizzas and they arrived cold. And burned. Badly. I thought this was a physical impossibility with food before Ember. How can an item be simultaneously charred to a crisp and not even warm? I suspected maybe after an extended period in the oven our pizzas were allowed time to recoup. But then I noticed that my cheese wasn't melted. In fact, you could still see the knife marks in it where it was sliced. So basically the oven sears the bottom to a horrible charred wreck so fast the toppings don't have time to heat up. Save your money people! read more

If you go early, a lot of the service issues here can be avoided. I'm not saying that should be the case, but if you want to give it a try that's my suggestion. We've gone here for years each time we are on the cape. Last year we thought their COVID service was pretty good all things considered. This year it was mostly ok except the salads came out after the pizza. Food is good though as far as we are concerned and the portions are pretty sizable. This is a recommend from our point of view but beware of the rush times. read more

We made reservations to have a family dinner here two days in advance. We showed up and we were seated at a dirty picnic table in a grass area with mud underneath the table. Talked to the hostess who could have cared less. We tried to have them seat us near the fires on the patio where we expected to be served. How they can expect people to pay Those prices for such terrible seating. We gladly walked out and will never return. read more

I've been going here ever since it opened up a few years ago and I totally love it. I don't live on Cape Cod anymore, and I still have to visit when I'm there. The pizza is thin so it's easy to eat a lot of it and not feel too guilty. My favorites are the pesto chicken, bbq chicken, buffalo chicken and white pizzas. I also love their spinach and artichoke dip. The staff is always super nice, and sitting outside with a glass of wine at night by the fire is wonderful. There are a bunch of tvs with games playing so it's good if that's what you wanna watch while you're eating. The downside is that it only has beer and wine, so I have to go elsewhere if I want some hard liquor. It's a small price to pay for an awesome atmosphere and delicious pizza, though! They don't have a ton of desserts but they have a few types of cupcakes every night and that wins me over every time. Love it! read more

The food really is 4-plus stars however, the long wait time is seriously ridiculous. And there is definitely room for more tables on the patio... We were on the cape, and looking for dinner around 7pm (like everyone else). We stopped in Ember, and put our names in - expecting about an hour wait. Luckily they have a bar and a seating area outside for people to pass the time while they wait for a table. About an hour and a half later (while staring at an empty table for about 20 min) we were seated. The menu is great, tons of interesting options. There were fruit toppings and some very exciting combinations. I had a pizza with red sauce, cheddar cheese, mushrooms, eggplant, arugula, and olives. Yum. Tons of arugula. Super thin crispy crust. Really great flavor. A little pricey, but I had leftovers (a small can probably feed 2 adults with a light to moderate appetite, depending on toppings). Our wait for pizzas was "going to be longer than normal" so our waiter brought us bread sticks - which was very nice. Brownie points for you, mister waiter. Although it seems that the process could run a little smoother, the food is good. Would I eat here again? Sure. But I don't know if I would wait 90 minutes for it... read more

Very nice place for a casual dinner. We wanted to eat outside but it was an hour wait so we ate inside. We had the garlic Buffalo wings to start and they were delicious. Then we had the meat lovers pizza which was also delicious. Service was very good and everything came out fast. Definitely would recommend giving it a try. read more

I struggled with what to rate this experience. We called the night before to make a reservation but were told reservations were only for parties of 5 or more which was frustrating but we wanted to go at opening (which the website said was 3pm but was actually 5 so I'm glad I called) and the hostess said see shouldn't have an issue getting seated. We got there at 5 the next day and there was a crowd, naturally someone showed up at 5, cut past the group of 15+ people waiting in line and got a prime table for his party of 4 so it was frustrating that a restaurant that doesn't take reservations doesn't have a better system for processing walk ins. They wouldn't give anyone an outside table with an umbrella as those were only for reservations so we could sit at a picnic table or inside. We opted for inside as there was a chance of showers (and it did rain while we were there, people and their food at picnic tables got drenched). The foot itself was absolutely delicious -we had the blueberry pizza, cheese pizza and nachos and all were amazing. Drinks were great and our server was personable, helpful and professional. So I would like to return again but I'll likely only do so if I have enough people for a reservation. read more

The idea is great. The pizza is lacking real flavor! It's always packed because it's not bad & the atmosphere is good but food won't be amazing. Service wasn't good. We had to ask for water refill a couple of times. The waitress handed us the bill & wised with her hand out for us to return it. Also, her extremely short & tight shorts isn't the place for a place where families frequent often. I asked for a water refill & she returned w it with the credit card to be signed so basically when we were leaving. I did also order drinks - the water was for my kids. Better service & some quality ingredients would make this place amazing! read more
