Great pizza .. outside dining . Very accommodating. Little pricey for pizza, but hey your on vacation

Waitress was great, but the price on the menu was less than the price on the receipt for each of the two pizzas we ordered. The waitress said they had put some new pages in and we must have gotten one that wasn't updated. No prices on the beers- one draft beer was $15, which I probably would not have ordered had I known. I feel like this was a bait and switch situation and wasn't given the opportunity to have it corrected. Pizza was great but I will not return or recommend it. read more

I am writing this review to save everyone reading a similar fate that we suffered tonight trying Ember. The bartender was very nice and that is the only good part of the experience. One pizza had an off odor and taste and the other 2 pizzas were barely edible. The egg plant pizza had a refrigerator smell and taste. We got 2 orders of bone in Buffalo chicken wings and they were all dried out and completely inedible. What a waste of $138. read more

We had a reservation for the patio, but when we arrived the hostess told us she "didn't see" our reservation and said there were no more tables outside -- unless we wanted to wait 30 minutes. Oddly enough, there were plenty of open picnic tables, which they did end up seating us at one. Unfortunately, the food didn't make up for any of that. The pizza tasted frozen and just wasn't good. The waitress was friendly and helpful, the food was delicious and the atmosphere was nice. Known for their wood fired pizza, we opted for the 1/2 rack of babyback ribs and a burger. When I went to cut the ribs, the meat fell off the bones! When I commented to the waitress how good they were and that I'd love to know how they cooked them, she told the chef and he came out and explained it to me! My husband ordered blue cheese on his burger which was cooked perfectly, he said it was the first time he actually tasted the blue cheese! Delicious! As someone who frequently travels to Manhatten and Beverly Hills ... I am pretty shocked when a restaurant on Cape Cod matches the price of those places. Especially one where the food is subpar and the service is snooty. To charge $13 for a single 16 oz. draft beer and $4 for a soda water is insanity, even in these days of crazy inflation. Think about that ... $20 used to buy you a meal at a restaurant ... at Ember, that buys you a beer and a water. As someone who has 3 beers when I go out, it would cost me half a hundred dollars just to get a buzz. We also had the pizza, which is good if you are drunk but is no better than a frozen pizza from the supermarket when sober. We heard so many people complain about the quality of the food and how long the food takes to arrive, based on reviews, we are not alone. Yhe service here too is ice cold. Lots of 20-somethings who are clearly counting down the clock until their shift ends. Between the customers and the staff, it seems nobody wants to be here. Overall, I'd totally skip this place. If you are a 20 year old who wants to get their drink on ... the prices are lower and draft selection is better at the beergarden in town. For food, Brax Landing is better. I hate to be critical but the cost value proposition is way off here and 90% of people leave annoyed and regretful. Also the 4% credit card fee ... tacky. read more

Absolutely Awful - Don't Waste Your Money I'm only writing this so you don't make the same $100 mistake we did. From the moment we walked in, it was a mess. Multiple servers walked right by us while chatting with each other. Eventually, a hostess appeared--no urgency, no welcome, just uninterested. Bad first impression. When our server finally came, I asked what kinds of soda they had. He said "club soda"... what? I asked again, and he finally said Pepsi, Sprite, etc. We ordered Pepsi, and he came back with three Diet Cokes and warm tap water with no ice. Seriously? We ordered two pizzas and spaghetti with meatballs. The spaghetti was absolutely disgusting--meatballs looked like they'd been sitting in a walk-in cooler for weeks, and the sauce was brown. The pizza? Greasy, bland, and honestly not even as good as frozen pizza. This was hands-down the worst meal we've had on Cape Cod. Even if the food were free, we wouldn't go back. I don't typically leave reviews unless it was really good or really bad. So I regret having to write this review. We arrived around 7pm and asked to sit inside. Nice booth and hopeful setting. Then came the series of unfortunate events. 1) It was about 20 min with empty water glasses that we sat without being acknowledged. We even moved the empty water glasses to the edge of the table. During that time a female server taking care of 2 adjacent tables "noticed us" and asked if we'd been served. She then got my wife a ginger ale. 2) 30 min in and a guy in an orange shirt came by and said he didn't realize this table was assigned to him. 3) Menu had seen better days and was missing the last page which was the main entrees. Another menu page was wrinkled with water. To be clear the menu was simply a folder for 8X10 white sheets of paper and easily replaced. 4) Ordered a small pizza and asked if he thought that was enough for a light meal to share. Pizza was priced at $23 for small. 5) We saw the guy walking around, bussing tables and seemingly unaware of us. Finally he thought to check on our order and came out carrying a $36 plate of pasta. He may have had 2 tables at the time. Really, $36??? Anyways we reminded him we had ordered pizza so he took the pasta back and put in an order for pizza. 6) About 60 min since we got there the pizza arrived and it was decent. We had no problem with the food. Meanwhile another couple had been having the same wait and they finally walked out. The guy came out with a can of beverage and was perplexed because he couldn't find anyone to deliver it to. They literally did not notice the other couple had even been there. The front desk young woman came out and was scanning the room, sure that she had sat someone. 7) So we asked for the check. Typically I give them my card and I review the bill after they prepare it for signature. I had a bad feeling so I didn't do that. Sure enough the bill was for $36 plus ginger ale plus tax. Plus a 4% charge. We took the bill to the front and asked them to redo for the pizza which was $23 plus ginger ale. I asked about the 4% charge and that was for using a credit card. Who is this owner who doesn't realize people don't carry a lot of cash and 90%+ pay with credit card. 8) Bottom line - this is 100% the owner or manager fault. Poorly trained employees. Poor table management system, if there was one. No "adults" watching the store. 9) Conclusion - sell the business. It has a good location and branding. Decent parking. This owner needs to get out of the restaurant business. They have zero clue how to run one. Do not go there under any circumstances. You will be disappointed. Based on all the empty tables, they are waiting for the uninformed tourists to arrive and get wowed by the sign and fire pit. Don't get sucked in. read more

I was in Harwich at Monomoy High School for my Niéce's HS Graduation, it was very long and I'm so proud of her for her Achievements....so we were all Hungry we ended up at Ember Coal Fire Pizza in Harwich, it's a great Local Pizza place, trust me it won't disappoint, we got Mozzarella Sticks which were HUGE, some Sweet and Spicy Boneless Wings...sorry no Pictures of the Wings....but they were Fantastic, same with the Mozzarella Sticks too, I also got a BIG Wedge Salad which was Amazing, then last but not least, Buffalo Chicken Pizza with Buffalo Sauce as the Base.....not Red Sauce, everything was delicious and worth the time and wait, definitely like that Place to Dinner read more

I recently had the unfortunate experience of dining at Ember, and I can't even begin to describe how disappointing it was. To put it simply, the pizza was absolutely terrible. It was like someone took a glob of undercooked dough, threw on a few toppings, and called it a masterpiece. The crust was soggy and chewy, with no crispness whatsoever--just a sad, floppy excuse for pizza. Not to mention my small pizza "bar pizza size" was $23 absolutely outrageous. I genuinely couldn't finish even a single slice without a fork and knife to cut the dough apart and scoop up the toppings that just slid right off! I've had better pizza from a frozen box, and that's saying a lot. I wouldn't return to Ember even if someone offered to pay for my dinner. I'd rather starve than subject myself to that atrocious excuse for a meal again. Save your money and your taste buds--definitely do yourself a favor and eat elsewhere! read more

Restaurant has a nice vibe with outside bar and fire pit so this has to be the only way it remains in business because the food is not! We went to a ball game so we're hungry later in evening and this was only place we could think of that was open so ordered large cheese with mushroom for takeout. $31 for a pizza...yikes. I get inflation is hitting us all but how about make a decent pizza if charging that much. Hardly any mushroom in it and the bottom was undercooked. An absolute average pizza at best. read more

Excellent service, though the restaurant was empty so it's not that surprising that the food came out fast and the (very friendly) server was so attentive. Two problems: 1) the restaurant now contracts with toast for transaction processing, and without posting a sign, or placing a notice on the website or menu, or even having the server inform you, they tack on a 4% administrative fee. This is not a tip for the back of house or server; it is a surcharge on top of your meal to cover the cost of using a third-party to process transactions. Instituting a surcharge for the use of credit cards is no longer that uncommon (even if I think it's a bad idea), because restaurants obviously need to find ways to preserve their dwindling margins. But you have to let people know before the credit card has been processed so they have the opportunity to pay in cash if they want. 2) the menu indicates that a hamburger is $16, and there is a list of items that can be added beneath it, including cheeses, pickles, red onion, mushrooms, caramelized, onion, and bacon. Only bacon has a price listed next to it, which is $1.50; because the others have no prices, the assumption is that you can add those at no cost. That assumption is incorrect; cheese is $1, sautéed mushrooms are $.50. It felt a little deceptive, or at least unclear, to see a cost for only one item, but then learn that there are costs associated with some other of the items (red onion and pickles turned out to be free). That's just a truth in advertising thing. Generally, the food is generally fresh and very good, though it wouldn't kill them to give you more than a thimble full of pasta salad with the burger. The manager came out and apologized. She said they were not canned just flash frozen. The food was all just meh. The server was new and inexperienced. But all the menus stated the same thing, even the website. They itemize all toppings so you would notice. On top of that, they charged an admin fee, what's that all about. Looking for a warm meal after a rainy day of traveling we stopped at Ember Coal Fired Pizza. The BBQ Chicken pizza was excellent! The crust was crisp and the cheese was gooey. The boneless wings were also good with just the right seasonings. Our server was attentive and helpful when it came to suggesting local beers except the beers did not have prices listed on the menu so we were surprised at how expensive they actually were. The restaurant had a cozy vibe and a lovely looking outside area for days that aren't rainy. Overall the food was great, but next time we would stick to water to drink. read more

BEWARE. BABY COCKROACHES. INFESTATION. Absolutely unacceptable. This place needs to be shut down immediately. We found multiple baby cockroaches crawling around inside our to-go pizza box--over four clearly visible, moving between the slices as we were packing the food. It was beyond disgusting. It made our stomachs turn. Even worse? These pizza boxes are stacked right next to the food prep area, where pizzas sit before going into the oven. That's a complete health code violation and a breeding ground for contamination. There is nothing sanitary about that. Let's be clear: baby cockroaches mean there's an infestation. Not a random pest--a full-blown infestation. That doesn't happen overnight. This is neglect, and it's dangerous. When we brought it to the manager's attention, he barely reacted and showed no concern whatsoever. No apology. No urgency. No care. Just continued with business as usual--as if this was normal. This is a health hazard, plain and simple. It's disturbing, it's unsanitary, and it should not be tolerated. We are calling for immediate inspection and shutdown until this issue is fully resolved. The pizza is very thin crust. I think it used to be different, but I may be remembering wrong. It was still very tasty. Nice beer selection and good salads. Outside the music was playing and it was very lively. Inside was quieter. Our server was excellent, but the servers and bus staff who weren't busy were just hanging around being noisy. Worst pizza I've ever had. We ordered a Large fig and prosciutto pizza, when I first saw the pizza I thought I received charcoal however I gave it a try. Not everything is love at first sight. Very doughy crust to be a coal fire pizza, the goat cheese tasted bad and for $28 it seems like we received 59 cents of prosciutto, barely any in the pizza. Got there with my pockets full and left ransacked. i didn't know I was ordering wagyu beef dubbed as a bowl of skimpy lettuce with a couple feta balls and a poorly cut onion. This place was a bigger waste of money than throwing 200 on the Pacers at +500 to win. all jokes aside, this place is the absolute worst. Had full potential to make a Greek salad-- I'm not even picky--and a simple, easy margarita pizza which I would hope they can achieve considering pizza is in their name. cut your losses short and keep driving down that road past Embers. Stopped in last night since we were in a pizza mood. 3 hostesses when we walked in - I asked how long the wait was... everybody looked at each other as if confused. Oh we can take you now... walk to a table that had not been cleared yet... ok no worries I get it. Wait for about 5 mins then back to the table that had trash underneath. 2 water glasses for our party of 4. We are told there are no clean glasses left (it's a Monday at 6pm?). 10/15 mins later here is some plastic cups of water. Waiter (with zero personality, clearly does not want to be there) takes our order. 20 mins later we asked about the app we ordered... "oh you want that first?" Umm yeah it's an appetizer. We had ordered garlic Parmesan wings... there's clearly red pepper flakes on the chicken... so I ask if these are the right ones... I'm told yes that just what they look like. Though the wings were tasty, they were super spicy... def not what we ordered. There were no utensils on the table so we ask for some and are handed them in a bunch (not rolled in a napkin) just a waiter grabbed a handful out of a bucket. As we sit we are looking around... table next to us is brought food and no plates... customer gets up and grabs plates for the table himself. A piece of pizza crust remains on the floor and is kicked around several times by servers. The table next to us gets up and leaves... whomever cleared the table gives it a half ass wipe and doesn't pick up underneath (napkins, stares, food, lemon slice and cheese all over the bench) They reset the table as if it's ready for the next guests. A table in the distance remains unbussed and filthy for at least 20 mins. So gross. Pizza comes, it's good enough. Check comes and it's outrageous. They were definitely not understaffed - plenty of people working, but clearly nobody in charge. Staff appears not trained. We were wondering how there was no wait since everywhere else was 1.5 hours. No chance this place is going to survive. It's too bad because it has the elements to be a nice place but it needs a staff overhaul and a manager that is present and cares. read more
