I stumbled upon this place because it is near the TV repair shop I had my tv repaired. It was rather underwhelming. Noodle soups did not come with the traditional herbs (mint, cilantro, Thai basil, etc), only bean sprouts, lime and jalapeño. The summer rolls did not travel well. They were both cracked when I got home. And it only had lettuce, shrimp, chives and noodles, no herbs like basil or mint. Service was not great either. Waitresses seemed more interested in their Cantonese videos in their smartphones than exchange common courtesy responses to "thank yous". Mind you I was one of TWO customers in the shop. read more

3.5 to do this place justice. I ordered delivery here because I was too hungover to go out to eat pho at my regular spot on 86th street and this place was right next to my bfs house and delivers. We ordered the beef pho and the banh mi em or something. It came relatively quickly. The beef pho was mediocre at best, the noodles were clumpy even when you tried to melt them with the heat of the soup. The soup had this herby taste to it, definitely not what I was expecting since I was hungover, it made me a little more nauseous drinking the soup. The best part about the dish was the meat, you can tell the quality of beef they used was different then regular places. And the fact that it was 12$ made it not worth for me. The banh mi was mediocre too. The bread was hard to bite through and was dry. It was quite bland too, it could've used a few more jalapeños and some extra pate. I came here once and also ordered delivery once. For the time that I dined in, I ordered a regular banh mi and one of the smoothies. The sandwich was just OK--on the smaller side and I didn't love the bread. The smoothie was good but didn't blow me away. For the delivery, I went for the pho and their specialty drink. The restaurant forgot to include my drink so I had to call them and the delivery guy brought it to me. It was annoying because it was a pretty pricey drink--also nothing to write home about. The broth of the pho was good but overall the dish wasn't that memorable. The bougie-ness and higher price point targeted at foodies isn't worth it for me. Came here because my husband was in the mood for Vietnamese noodles, and this place is conveniently located, around the corner of my parents place. It's a small place, and we were a party of 5 plus a baby. Immediately the waitress/hostess seemed annoyed that we had a baby in her establishment. She refused to talk to us unless we asked multiple times. We had to ask for menu, table settings, more table settings and water because she didn't give us enough, asked to have order taken... While they had high chairs and another family was using one, we weren't offered. Sorry, she might be right, people with babies should just never go out to eat. (My daughter didn't scream, she looked around for a bit, then fell asleep on her daddy's lap) As for The food, my parents and I all got the same seafood and pork pho, where my husband got the beef pho. While not bad tasting, it's not authentic pho. It's pho with a Chinese flare. The spring roll was okay. And my pineapple slush drink was prob the highlight of the night. It was light and refreshing, put some vodka in it I think I might have found my favorite drink. So, overall, as a eat in establishment, not so great. Too small for family event, menu items are pretty limited, and if you have a baby, you might want to avoid the stink eye. However, I will say it's prob a great take out place, since food are served fairly quickly, she's not a nice server, but an efficient one. And the drinks are great. read more

The menu is small but it packs a punch for your wallet and taste buds. I ordered the Pho Ga, and not only it was delicious but I was stuffed. The chicken was good, and it comes with a special sauce that added a nice flavor to the soup. The smoothies are good, I ordered the Summer of '69, it consisted of mango and other various flavors. I have yet to try the sandwiches, but from what my friends told me that it was satisfying. The prices are wallet-friendly, I would recommend going here on a night out. The decor is clean, simple, and cute. Let's get straight to the food. We ordered the following: Chicken Pho Beef Pho Fish balls on the side Vietnamese Iced Coffee Avocado Smoothie Everything tasted DELICIOUS! The broth is amazing, it's one of those you can tell that they spent a lot of time and effort into making the soup and everything else. My mouth is watering now as I am typing up this review and looking back at the photos I've taken, hahahahaha! It's so good that we went back the next day, and ordered their signature sandwich to go. I have to say I've tasted better Vietnamese sandwiches than that, but it was still good. We would definitely go back again and again. The only suggestion I have for the owner is consider lowering the music volume a little bit. The noodle soups here are definitely worth trying. I got the beef noodle soup (Pho Bo Em) and the flavors were very rich and delicious. You can also tell the different cuts of beef are of premium quality. My parents got the signature soup (Hu Tieu Em) and the chicken noodle soup (Pho Ga) which were both good. The signature soup had very fresh shrimps and not the frozen kinds most restaurants serve. The shredded chicken was very smooth and cooked well, but the chicken broth was blander in comparison to the other two. The spring rolls were good but not as crispy as I would have liked. Em's is part of a new wave of Vietnamese restaurants that are more upscale than the typical Vietnamese restaurants that populate New York City. With this more upscale take comes with a higher price tag than the classical Vietnamese spots. However, I am quite pleased to announce that this place delivers. I was pleasantly surprised with the beef pho. The broth actually tasted like it has been simmering for hours and is loaded with beef bone flavor, cinnamon, lemongrass, star anise and whatever else is in that goodness. The broth absolutely stands on its own and I did not need to put in any sriracha like I usually have to do with other broths. For an extra 9 dollars, you can add a piece of short rib to this bowl of beef pho which I did. If you feel like treating yourself, I'd absolutely recommend this. The short rib came deboned and was extremely tender and meaty. Perhaps one area of improvement would be to give more of the bean sprouts in the toppings bag. In conclusion I cannot wait to actually visit this place in person and try the other offerings that Em's has on its menu. Yum! Absolutely delicious! One of the best spots for some pho ! Been here about 5 times with my fiancé already and the food is great! We usually get the same thing, the chicken pho and summer rolls. The pho comes with a delicious dipping sauce for the chicken. The have have awesome drinks on the menu. I got the mango smoothie one. It was delicious. The dipping sauce though ... Bomb!!!!!!!!! Em has become my go-to vietnamese restaurant in the area. Not all of the dishes are amazing, but those that are and the service from Em deserve at least a 4 star. Dishes that were meh for me were spring rolls and the aloe drink. Spring rolls were too soft, granted it was a delivery order. For the aloe drink, it was very light, and had some artificial aloe jelly in it. I was expecting some real aloe from the pictures on yelp. The beef and pork pho, however, are outstanding. The beef pho is so on point every single time. The raw beef is always so fresh, seasoned with black pepper. And the broth is very flavorful. It's a little different from the other pho I've tasted, which is usually on the clear beefy side. The broth from Em is a little bit herby and very aromatic. The pork pho is a little milder than the beef pho and is a slightly bit more fatty to me. Overall, they are always full of great flavors. For service, this place deserves a 5 star. I usually order through their website. They always check in with me because of the default pick up setting on their website, instead of delivery. Very limited menu with 2 type of soup noodles and 4 sandwiches. The owner's family have a wholesale fruit business, so their smoothies are on point and delicious. I got the aloe drink, it was a bit overpriced but quite refreshing and unique. Both their noodles tastes home-made like how my friends mom makes them. The regular bahn mi tastes clean, fresh and a lot better than any other bahn mi places in the area including ones on 8th and 7th Ave. The staff are very attentive and service orientated but with such a small restaurant, I wish it was more of a counter service instead of wait service. Why I love this place.. their food is made by the owner and it is absolutely delicious. Their bowl of beef rib noodles is the best I've had. They cook the beef bone broth for 24 hours and that's why it is extra delicious. Their spring roll is another authentic vietnamese dish that is to die for. Great new Vietnamese spot by my house. Very reasonably priced compared to the trendy Asian spots where you are expected to pay almost double. Must haves are the Bahn Mi, Soup noodles, the Green Sauce, and Milkshake. I had the Avocado Milkshake and it was like crack, but healthy. Bahn Mi bread was perfect and it doesn't cut your mouth like other places. The soup noodles is very refreshing. It might not be as salty or flavorful as other places, but there are subtleties to the broth. I appreciate a light broth versus a heavy flavorful broth. Probably a very mediocre Vietnamese place. I was excited since there aren't a lot of Vietnamese places in the Bensonhurst area. I went with a friend and the worker their promoted a special noodle and a special sandwich. Both were about 12 dollars if i remembered correctly. The sandwich was a bland brisket sandwich that was apparently cooked in a broth. I guess that made it tender, but it lacked in flavor. The noodle was pretty bland too, nothing special. The worker also sold the hell out of their fresh fruit beverages. He told me his father's in the produce business and told me which country each fruit is from. That's kind of cool I guess. It's a very clean version of Viet food but overpriced (probably due to their claim of higher quality ingredients). The taste of Vietnamese authenticity isn't quite there yet with these "better ingredients" so they should work on that. Also, the sandwiches are very skimpy on the amount of ingredients they put in for that price. Tried this the first time (chicken pho only) and didn't really like it. Gave it another shot and had a much better experience. Ordered both the chicken pho and the beef pho. Maybe I had it on an off day the first time but both broths were flavorful this time. I still like the chicken pho from another place better but I'm glad there's finally a decent pho place that will deliver to my house. I'm so glad this place like this finally got added to the neighborhood, as it caters to a younger crowd and features delicious vietnamese food that I often get cravings for. I've been here multiple times already, and I can say with confidence that I'm a fan of this place and I hope that it stays. Their classic banh mi wasn't bad, but a bit overpriced for what you get. It felt like it was lacking in something. That's why I much preferred the banh mi op la. The egg was actually a perfect addition to the sandwich, which surprised me a bit, but I've gotten this twice so far because of how good it actually is. Their pho ga was one of my favorites. It features a broth that's both cozy and light with chicken and dried shrimp that packs it with flavor. They also serve it with a hot sauce and a green sauce to dip your chicken in, both of which are great. The green sauce is very good and I can't wait to get this dish again. The strawberry smoothie is the only smoothie that I've tried on their menu, but I'm hooked on it. It's refreshing but creamy and lightly sweet at the same time. I would love to try their other smoothies, but their prices are a bit off putting to me, so I may just stick with this one. I've also tried their iced vietnamese coffee but it was too strong and too sweet for me. I'll gladly order it again if they cut down on the sugar a bit. So all in all, I'll give this place 4 stars because it is still a soft opening, and I think that they still have some areas on which they can improve on. For example, as I've mentioned above, the prices are bit high to me, but the food is great so I've been trying to look past it. They are also cash only, and I wish that they'll be able to take card in the future. I also wish that it was a bit easier to make changes to my order. I can be a bit picky with my food, and I'm not a fan at all of cilantro, scallions, or onions, and if I ask for these accommodations, depending on who is taking my order, they might not understand my requests. So far, they've only missed it once, so I'm pretty happy with how they've catered to the customers thus far. For a soft opening, I think they're doing very well so far, and I will definitely be a customer again if they stick around. read more
