We have been here previously and had very good experiences with the services we've received. This time however, there were a couple glitches that hampered the overall rating. First impression of front desk was super helpful, the lady was very kind. The facility is lovely and well-appointed with sauna, steam room, robes, lounge, and other amenities like pads, shavers etc. This is a great bonus that saves a star! Unfortunately, the massage service my partner received (gifted by me) did not meet expectations. We had arrived on time (early), but she was not called to the massage room until her appointment time. Then, she had to fill out her forms, which should have been provided when we arrived early (or perhaps online beforehand is a good idea!). She's also filled out these forms before so health questions should be on file already. This cut into her massage time and she did not receive the full 50 minutes. As well, her verbal instructions were not entirely regarded by the masseur (when asking for less leg work, the request was ignored). read more

Decent massage therapy spot in downtown Toronto. It's a small setup so the red light sauna and steam room are small. The red light sauna is in the sun room area, which is cute and very garden like. The steam room is in the bathroom and it's nothing fancy. There was one shower in the bathroom and maybe 2 toilets. Went with a friend and got a couples massage. The massages were great. We felt very relaxed and even dozed off for a bit. The masseuses were friendly and professional. Overall, decent spot but not a spa. read more

2 stars for could've been better. My sister gives it a 3. First things first: They don't pick up the phone. I literally tried many times over the span of 2 days and no luck. I also tried email and first time I got a response but the follow-up email got no response. Also the spa is on the smaller side and it's in a building complex which requires you to be buzzed in. There were no issues with that just wasn't expecting it. There were lots of street parking nearby but no designated parking so it's up to luck. My facial was a 2/5 I would say. I really didn't enjoy the experience. Their products used were good because my skin looked nice and plump afterwards and had a nice glow. But the application and the massage were horrible. The lady had on latex gloves due to covid measures and as she was smothering stuff over my face, I kept smelling latex the entire time. She was also rough and I just felt goop being smeared without any explanation of what she was putting on my face at any time. Also when I got home, my skin peeled from the extraction. This is likely normal but still I thought it was excessive the amount she did on my skin since I've never had this kind of peeling before. I also was supposed to get a 60 min facial and I was already running 10 mins late but the lady also finished 5 mins earlier so I only got a 45 min facial. I was told she had to leave right away due to other commitments. The spa itself was okay, there is a nice lounge area like the photos for relaxing and waiting. The spa is not good for groups or parties because it's quite small. It's not the type of day spa that's good for lounging, it's more for in and out type services although you can certainly lounge in the lounge area but again, small. Anyways they're alright. My sister also got a facial here and she liked hers so I guess it depends who you get. But with everything else factored in, it's really not worth a revisit. read more

I had a great massage here (RMT: Andre Reyes) - good pressure and communication. Would recommend him as an RMT for sure. Facialist was also excellent - her name escapes me but she was a European lady - first initial K - lovely. Great facial, my skin still feels so smooth and hydrated not even two days later. I really enjoyed this woman in particular for her 'realistic' approach to beauty, knowing that many of us don't have time to do a full 10 step routine every day, she distilled it down to the "critical" products, ie. cleanse, tone, serum, exfoliate a few times a week, and SPF daily in summer and when we remember in winter. My only complaint is that in the waiting area, there was a pretty rude couple that was sitting far apart in separate muskoka chairs (both staring at their phones and talking to eachother). My hope for more spas in the GTA is have NO phones in the common areas. It is highly distracting, a privacy and security concern (um hello, we're sitting there in robes), and it's intimidating. For example, I wanted to kindly ask this couple to please lower their voices but did not feel comfortable as they could film me should they decide to be confrontational (and let's be realistic - this is only growing more and more common in todays society). I left both my work and personal phone in my locker given that it is a spa and I'm there to get away from technology. I'd like to see a phone policy in place, not just here but at more spas in Toronto. If you can't even wait for a massage without looking at Instagram for 15 minutes, maybe you shouldn't be at the spa. Anyway, I digress. My friend and I went for an 80 minutes aromatherapy massage last week and it was divine. I had Isaac, he was fantastic. He had intuitive, magic hands. I forget the name of the lady that my friend had, but she too was incredible! We both left feeling relaxed and taken care of. Ronite was a warm and friendly manager who took us from station to station and ensured that our visit was everything we needed it to be. She's a charming and bright addition to the place! Elmspa is a quiet oasis and it is my go-to spa for RMT massages. I like the fact that it is almost always quiet there, and the garden-like waiting area is great! There are always plenty of magazines there to keep you entertained while waiting for the masseuse, and it is a great that they provide hot tea, fruits and fruit infused water. There is a small steamroom in the changerooms. If you want to use it, it would be advisable to go there a bit early since it would take at least 10 minutes for the steam to heat up the room (it is normally off) - hardly an issue if you know what to expect. Over the years, there have been some changes to the masseuses working here. Currently it is Peter who is mainly there and he does a great job with massages. His main technique is swedish but he also does some stretching techniques to relax various muscles groups, and not the hard brute-force types that some people might be used to. As for prices, I think they are pretty competitive. If you buy 4 session they will throw in a 5th one for free, which is great! Overall, I would recommend Elmspa if you are looking for a quiet place for a spa day. read more

Got a gift card for a massage, pedicure and facial. The massage was horrible my one year old does a better job. The pedicure looked like a preschool child did them. As weddings and wedding prep go, I was stressed and was late for my appointment: the staff was gracious and did the needful to get me in the room as soon as possible, and all of the stress melted away with the exceptional massage I received. Continuing my "Imma visit as many Toronto spas as possible" tour... I never knew Elmspa existed until I tried to book an appointment at Elmwood for a massage end of December when it was all booked up but they redirected me here for availability. It's kind of like the Elmwood Spa experience except it doesn't have the hot tub or pool, there's just one steam room, less expensive for similar services, smaller and a lot less busy/quiet. It does have an infrared sauna, unlike Elmwood, that is private and booked individually beforehand. Same sort of amenities in the change room with the Elm line of products. I only had lovely experiences with the front desk/reception at the time of booking and day of so I guess the previous reviews about bad service at front desk have been fixed. I went for an RMT massage with Peter and he was really good. Good amount of pressure and relaxing. Much more friendly than some of the RMTs I've had at Elmwood. Almost fell asleep a few times on the table when usually, I am wide awake during massages. The good overall: - I went at the end of the year (but on a weekday) when it's usually super busy, but when I was there, I probably only saw 3 other people there with me over the span of time I was there (about 3.5 hours). - Prices are more competitive for the same service than at Elmwood/Body Blitz/other more extensive spas - The private time in the infrared sauna was nice, I don't usually choose saunas over steam rooms but it was complimentary so why not. It's like a little wooden shed with a long bench you can recline on and you get about 25 mins in there. There's some magazines there too so you're not just sitting there, bored. - You don't have to deal with huge crowds of people, talking loudly or taking selfies by the pool like at Elmwood. And usually, you can be in the facilities alone (e.g. the steam room, the change room, the lounging area) which can be a good or bad thing depending on your outlook. - There's still the same fruit infused water, teas and apples that Elmwood has. - Good assortment of magazines - Because it's a lot less crowded, I find it more relaxing of an atmosphere. The less stellar parts overall: - As people mentioned, the steam room takes awhile to get going and it's quite a foggy steam (sometimes) where you can't see anything in there. The steam room is much smaller than the one in the women's change room at Elmwood, it's like the corner of the bathroom made into a steam room. Also doesn't/didn't have the same lemongrass scent that I've come to associate with Elmwood. - There's just one shower. Most of the time, no one is in the change room with you so that's not an issue but at the time I finished with my massage and wanted to wash off the oil, there was someone in there so I had to kill some time until she was done to use the shower. Since it's also such a small change room, with a small nook where all the lockers are, when there's someone else in there, you really feel more in their way than in the vast change room that Elmwood has. - There's no "unlimited" towel supply like there is at Elmwood but I'm sure you could ask someone for another one (I didn't, I just kept using the same damp towel throughout). It's just the one that is provided inside the locker. - Also in the locker is a pair of flip flops that, while at Elmwood, you can choose your own size. Here, it seems to be just "one size fits all" a.k.a. larger flip flop sizes - You also have to lug around a key for your locker unlike the digital keyless locks at Elmwood. read more

A cozy spa with organic, japanese style decor instantly relaxes you. It is NEVER busy and they even have a waiting area that feels like your in a mini Asian garden. They offer a wide range of spa services. I have to admit that it is a little pricey, but you have the added advantage of spa estheticians who are excellently trained to offer the most delicious and original services that represent holistic themes and practices from around the world (ie. Asia and Australia). Both men and women are welcome. With mini-steam rooms in each washroom to help loosen up and warm the muscles before you start a service. An added touch is the lightly flavoured water or tea they offer before and after the service. If your looking for a spa that is more private and proven to offer quality spa services, you've come to the right place. A great place to bring your signficant other for a cozy afternoon of relaxation...or book the spa for the day for a bachelorette party or birthday. read more

Website states couples massage (they only have one rmt now), it also states 80 minutes (only offers 50 minutes now) and when I called to book and left a voicemail, no one returned my call - I had to call and wait for someone to answer the queue. This is still one of my favourite spas mainly because of the beautiful low key setting and that every time I go there, I'm pretty much the only person in the spa so it's a wonderful get away from the city. They always have a great selection of magazines and everything is tidy and well maintained. I also love the selection of Morrocan Oil shampoos, conditioners and body lotions they have in the change room in addition to being able to choose from Elmwood's signature line. The receptionist who's at the front is also starting to grow on me - he's actually quite friendly and down to earth and always helps me with the tea station, in addition to always having a smooth check out process. The only thing I struggle with is that the quality of the services every time are a bit lacklusture. I had a 80 min aromatherapy massage which was on special for $125 which was a great rate. The RMT himself was very friendly, warm with great bedside manner, however, the massage itself lacked any pressure (and I gently asked a couple times throughout for more pressure) and similar to the last massage, was really just light brushing strokes. He showed me a few stretches at the end to help with tension which I thought was very thoughtful. Given that the last massage was very similar in that there was almost no pressure, I'm starting to think it may be just the style adopted at Elmspa for massages. However, I will say that the rates here are very competitive (similar to local spas without nearly the same range of facilities) so as long as you manage your expectations, you'll be very pleased with this experience! I would return but will continue to search for a RMT I like there. read more

The facilities look great. Clean and nicely designed. But my visit did not start well as the "guest services representative" should probably be renting out cars, not working at a spa. I asked him where the sauna was, and he said, "Oh you don't have time for a sauna," then walked away. Didn't tell me where the sauna was, and yes, as it turned out I did have time, but lost half that time looking for it. The massage therapist Anthony Tran is truly gifted, and I am grateful. Afterwards, I wanted to lie down. There's a nice airy waiting room with natural light, but the wooden beach chairs are not comfortable. It would be so much better if there were comfortable lounge chairs. In the end, I lay on the floor. The steam room is in the change room and takes FOREVER to start. Then it's all foggy but COLD. A complete waste. And again, the "guest services representative" was little help. The last straw was the shower - the water pressure in the shower is low and took about three minutes to heat up. I would NOT recommend this spa. I will not go there again. I would most definitely see the therapist again. But not if I have to go to the Elm Spa which I realize now I confused with the Elmwood Spa. Don't make the same mistake. I don't mind paying $150 for 80 minutes, but for that price I want the receptionist to tell me where the sauna is and the steam room must be hot, and if it comes down to that better to go to Body Blitz or Elmwood. read more
