I was a loyal customer for years, regularly booking facials and purchasing products at both the Yorkville and Eglinton locations. I've spent a significant amount with this brand and always had positive in-store experiences. After recently moving to Guelph, I planned to continue supporting the company by ordering products online, as there is no storefront here. Unfortunately, my most recent online order was marked "delivered," but I never received it. The package was left unattended, and although a delivery photo was provided, I did not sign for or receive the parcel. When I contacted the company, they declined to reship or refund the order because the carrier marked it as delivered. My request to escalate the matter went unanswered. It's disappointing that a longtime customer was left to absorb the loss without any meaningful resolution. I valued this brand and intended to continue as a customer, but this experience has changed that. read more

I had Microneedling session with Jeanette, esthetician done. It met all my super high expectations. Spa is very calm, clean, atmosphere is friendly, calm and relaxed. Jeanette was professional, knowledgeable and she matched my personality. I particularly liked about her that she didn't push any of Spa's own and extensive, yet expensive line on me to but. She gave me a small ( but enough) supply of products I supposed to apply after procedure and overnight/ next day/ 24-48 hours, for free. I ended up purchasing a facial water ( specially formulated for after-procedure care), and I like that I had a choice to purchase different sizes of thos facial water. I purchased small, because I wanted to try it first. Overall, I fell at all time, welcomed, valued and appreciated. I especially like the feeling of being appreciated as customer by my esthetically and desk personel as well. I'll definitely return for Microneedling and/ or other procedure. TUESDAY, JUNE 3, 2024 At 72, I figured it was time to get a facial. A friend gifted me a Facial at Yorkville's PURE + SIMPLE. hI was treated by Sarah, who mentioned she was new to the Pure + Simple team in Yorkville. Sarah had a calming and relaxing aura, while still focusing her attention to my comfort and my skin. She was careful to explain every step of the procedure to me. Using the steam machine, exfoliation -where and why, the application of various creams and gels. Sarah also gave my scalp a good massage, as I have been experiencing hair loss. She massaged my shoulders, neck and back of head. It felt so good! I will likely return to Pure + Simple for Sarah's excellent massage techniques. So I came back for a 2nd "super hydrating facial" with a different aesthetician. This one was less stern and more friendly, but unfortunately I had another lacklustre experience. I know I am an outlier, as P&S has been well known for their amazing facials for many years. I love their philosophy of clean beauty and have even read Kristen Ma's book "Beauty: Pure + Simple". I recognize this might be the right place for SOME people, but wanted to share my experience so others know what to expect. I was once again told my skin is dry and given a long list of instructions that I "must" do to "fix" my skin. I am not sure how much of this had to do with the fact that I was getting married in a few months. I am not sure if they were trying to take advantage of me, thinking they could prey on typical bridal insecurities? Or pressure me into things because my "big day" was coming up. Anyways, I was sort of alienated by what seemed to me extreme or unreasonable suggestions such as: - Get a RMT massage every single week to make the skin around my décolletage look better since it will show with the style of my wedding dress. - Get a facial every 2 weeks. Oh and of course, she said I should've started doing regular facials much earlier (for the record, I started 3 months before the wedding)... "it's gonna be hard to make much of a difference in this short time..." - Take prescription antibiotics to "clear up" bacteria on my forehead and then take probiotics to "replenish" the good bacteria. She actually suggested I get my doctor to give me ORAL (i.e. systemic) antibioitics to fix my skin. - Do something about my freckles and my upper lip hair. This came in the form of "so are you okay with these freckles?" (Um, yes. I didn't say anything. But thanks for suggesting I shouldn't be okay with them). "Are you planning to DO something for hair removal here before your wedding?" (Um, no. Everyone person has tiny hairs on their cheeks, upper lip etc. that are visible when you shine a bright light and look at the skin under a magnifying glass... it is totally natural and I didn't appreciate her suggestion I need to get rid of it. I'm also not a hairy person, quite the opposite. Also, even if I WAS a hairy person with noticeable upper lip hair, I think it would be rude to point this out unless the person asked about it directly). - Use a sheet mask every other night. There were other suggestions too but I think I zoned out. Maybe if I was a rich Rosedale socialite, I'd have time for all this, but as a "regular" person I found some of the suggestions laughable, unrealistic, or unaffordable. She also kept saying things like "oh your skin will look so nice... your face will look so small." I thought that was really weird. Um, your face doesn't change SIZE from a facial (or anything else). I never said my goal was the shrink my face. WTF? Like the 1st time I went, I got upsold into some "extras" that added up to about $50 (I think some hyaluronic acid supplement and something else). I know I shouldn't have caved, but I just felt so exhausted from all the pressure and shaming. The facial this time was even LESS relaxing because she didn't do as much head/neck massage. Then came the extractions which were so painful I was literally tearing up (which she noticed, but just dabbed my tears with kleenex and kept going, saying it's normal). I have a high pain threshold. This was 10x worse than a brazillian wax. I have never had such painful extractions before. What's worse, afterwards, I had scarring and thickening of the skin under my nose (not breakouts, but redness and peeling scar tissue- hard to describe) that did not clear up for TWO weeks. It looked awful and was really embarrassing. Needless to say, I did NOT return like she told me to, as I did not want this weird skin reaction on my wedding day. I thought maybe something was wrong with me and I'm just not a facial person. I was like "people pay for and enjoy this? This is really stressful!" But I recently went to Radford studios just around the corner from P&S (inside Yorkville Village) and had a wonderful experience! The aesthetician ironically told me that I had *great* skin. I still have a 3rd facial left at P&S (I bought a package of 3 to save a bit of money, not knowing that each time they would pressure me to add things and I'd end up paying closer to $150+ for each facial). I think I am just going to refuse any add ons and just tell them to do the facial and that I can get my skin care advice elsewhere. 2 stars (instead of 1) because some of the products are excellent. I love their cleansing milk and am glad I discovered it! read more

This is a delayed email. I started going to Pure & Simple Yorkville since 2018 and had facials and back facials done by Terezie and Maryam. Terezie gave practical and amazing advice and every facial was as good as it gets, I enjoyed the massages and masks, exfoliation and extractions aren't painful! By one year, my skin is much smoother and hydrated with bi-monthly facials. Their products work wonders on my skin as well. read more

Still loving this location. I had another facial here. Isabella is the best esthetician I've encountered so far. Plus she's a makeup artist so we get to chat about products & makeup to our hearts content. She's also made good recommendations for products for my skin that are available at the store. For those new to Pure + Simple this location is also a wellness centre. They have a nutritionist, naturopathic doctor & acupunturist at this location. Check out their website for more details. My first visit for a facial at Pure and Simple Yorkville, and Maryam was the esthetician who took care of me. I booked a basic facial, which had a January promo for $65. Maryam recommended a peel for an additional $30, which helped to remove the build up of dead skin cells. This was also a promo price. I was impressed that for a basic facial, I received in addition to a basic cleanse and extractions a head massage, shoulder and neck massage. I left with my skin glowing and super hydrated. I liked how as a first time client she didn't try to sell me any products but instead gave me a sample of the serum and moisturizer she used during our facial. I believe this is a good way to peek interest for the client to return for further inquiry for the products. I felt relaxed throughout the time of walk in to when I left. Overall, a positive atmosphere here and will definitely be back for another facial and possibly a massage as well! read more

I signed up to Yelp just so I could review this spa. First time in about 5 years I've had a facial and it was at a spa in Oakville which did not address my skincare needs so I never went back. But my skin has been so bad lately I wanted to see if an aesthetician could possibly help me and since Pure and Simple had pretty good reviews, thought I'd try it out. Elena was amazing! She explained all my skin problems in detail. She knew how dehydrated my skin is. After a the basic hydration facial plus the Aquafusion add on - my skin was glowing in a way it hasn't it years!! She recommended one product (AquaNUTRIA Cappaprenols Complex) to address my major flakey, dehydrated skin. And I asked her for a recommendation of a moisturizer as well as I'm almost finished my regular moisturizer, which obviously isn't doing what I need it to do. That also was a great recommendation! After trying the samples of both products, in only 2 days I have noticeably less if any, flakey skin and my skin is hydrated almost the ENTIRE day now... something that hasn't happened in years! Elena was not pushy at all, gave me the choices for a facial that she thought would be good for me and she didn't push products either. I will be going back again for sure to Elena and I won't be waiting 5 years this time! read more

Got my first ever facial from Vera and she was AMAZING! I was basically clueless about my skin type/which facial I should choose but she asked a lot of questions about my skin and really cared about the entire process. We ended up choosing the Super Hydrating facial and it did wonders to my skin. It was visibly healthier and glowing after our session. She was extremely knowledgeable and talked me through the whole process making sure I was comfortable with everything she was doing. Not only that, she gave me tips on simple changes I can make at home in my skin care routine to fix some of my skin problems that I couldn't figure out how to fix in years. I used her tips and surely it worked like magic. Took me a long time to be able to justify spending so much money on a facial but you are so well taken care of by the employees at this Pure & Simple that you totally get your money's worth. Instead of just pushing products for me to buy at the end, she gave me a Clay Mask sample to take home (which works WONDERS). Again, was skeptical about spending so much money on a facial at first but couldn't be happier with the results. Will be going back for another appointment in a couple of weeks and definitely buying the clay mask. read more

Facials are one of those rare experiences where if you get it once, you tend to become hooked and want to come back time and time again (as long as you can afford it). As a guy, it can be intimidating to go to facial spas with a predominantly female clientele, but once you get over the initial nerves it's perfectly fine. Literally no one cares. I've been getting facials on a monthly basis from Pure and Simple for about two years now, and I've never considered switching. They are the real deal when it comes to facials. I've gone to many places where the quality of aestheticians vary drastically, but the aestheticians here are all fairly consistent - now that's not to say that I don't have my personal favourite (Isabella), but I've gotten facials from multiple people here and they've all been great. My biggest pet peeve when it comes to facials is when you're just left there lying on the bed. A LOT of other facial places just leave you lying there waiting for your face to steam, or masks to dry, and I find that lazy. You're paying $100/hour, the aestheticians should always be doing something - whether it be massaging your head, or rubbing your arms, or moisturizing your feet. If all they do is wash my face and put on creams, then I can do that myself. I think of facials like a massage therapy session - it's meant to be good for your skin, but it should also be a time to get pampered and feel relaxed. This is where Pure and Simple absolutely excels. When my face is getting steamed, I'm still receiving attention and really getting my money's worth. The only time they do leave the room is to grab fresh water, and that's only for about 5 minutes or so near the end of the session. The aestheticians here put in a lot more effort than your average spa, and they really do care about helping you get the perfect skin. Now like almost all the other spas, they do recommend products in the end but there is no pressure in buying them - just tell them you've got enough stuff to use at home. You can even ask for samples if you're not sure. I've actually bought some products from them and have been generally satisfied - although some stuff is a bit on the pricier side. The price of the facials themselves are slightly cheaper than what I've seen and yet the quality of their facials are top-notch. I would recommend going for the monthly specials - they're usually discounted quite generously and you can get the more premium treatment at the cost close to their regular facial. You don't really have to be concerned about which facial to get for your particular skin - it's all generally the same procedures and the aestheticians cater the products to your skin type anyway. For anyone who's concerned about getting a facial for the first time - just do it, and I highly recommend getting it from Pure + Simple. Some people get a bit red or break out after a facial, but that only lasts for a day or two and you'll be glowing for the rest of the week. Good skincare really is dependent on your daily routine, but it's nice to have an extra helping hand. The extractions can hurt, but you notice a huge difference after them, so just bear with it. Every time I've come to the spa, I've always been the only guy there (unless I bring one of my friends), so hopefully a new trend will begin for guys to also start investing into skincare. With the amount of time and effort we invest into the gym, it only makes sense for our skin to be equally healthy and aesthetically pleasing. read more

First off I ADORE this place. Really. My experience was borderline life-changing. So prepare for a little gushing. I came in after experiencing a traumatic stress related eczema breakout all over my face and neck. My breakout was so severe and painful my doctor initially thought it was shingles! After a few weeks of antibiotic meds doing nothing I decided to take a chance and get a facial, hoping for some mild relief. I picked Pure+Simple on a whim, the prices seemed reasonable and I like their product lines. I came in for a consultation to see which treatment would work best for me. We settled on the Rosacea Care facial with LED light treatments to help with my pigmentation and scarring. After my first treatment I was hooked. My inflammation was gone within a few days and my skin texture improved dramatically within a week. I went back a month later and purchased a package of treatments and now try to go once an month to maintain and deal with some of my pigmentation and dry patches. I've seen such a massive improvement in the quality of my skin that I now no longer have to use my horrible petroleum based eczema medication (which I've been using for over TEN years). I have primarily seen Shari and can't recommend her highly enough she's a miracle worker. Every time I leave I am insanely glowing and relaxed. She has the most lovely calming energy and is so knowledgeable. I also really appreciate that they don't carry just one line of products and try to shove a whole new skincare routine on you (unlike some places *cough* Ritz Carlton *cough*). Although, I usually leave with a much lighter wallet and an armful of goodies anyway because they carry the BEST lines. So long story short, go there! I had my first facial here - I believe my esthetician's name was Lindsay. I decided to go because I have been struggling with adult acne (mostly cystic on the chin) for a bit now, and because I recently had my makeup trial for my wedding and the makeup artist recommended I do a facial for some dryness (caused by the acne medication). I was a bit wary of having a facial because I have had two before elsewhere, and left both with extremely red skin that turned into breakouts the following day. However, Pure + Simple had great reviews and seemed to take a more natural approach, so I decided to try it out. Lindsay was great. Not only was she very kind and knowledgeable, but she also answered my questions and made some recommendations without pushing products. In the past I have had to hide at home for a day or two following extractions, which leave my skin very red. As Lindsay performed her extractions, I was afraid I would have the same result. However, I looked in the mirror at the end of my appointment, and to my pleasant surprise, my pores were clear but had no indication of any redness! I'm interested in trying out their skin care products, but I may look for cheaper alternatives with the same ingredients first. I will definitely be back for another facial. read more

I've gone to Pure + Simple for 3 facials now, and I have to say that Isabella is hands-down the best esthetician I've ever had. I almost don't want to write this review because it is already hard enough to snag an appointment with her! I've tried other places with so-so results and what felt like constant product-pushing. But Isabella's knowledge of skin care and esthetics is incredible and she always manages to make my skin look and feel better. She also understands that I'm on a budget, and helps me figure out what is best for my skin with practical advice and help. Kevin Cai, is phenomenal practitioner of a branch of traditional Chinese medicine called Tuina. In Kevin's words "6 years of study at the University of Beijing, 12 years of practice in China and a 3000 year history" makes all the difference. I have reaped so much in health benefits and mobility since seeing Kevin. Kevin pushes you to your limits but only to speed up one's progress. This is by far the best place I've ever been for facials. I was recommended by a friend who I have known for a while who's skin has also improved significantly. Prior to booking my first facial, someone called me to discuss my skin type and suggested that I come in for an assessment to decide a suitable facial. We soon decided a Super Hydrating facial was appropriate as I live in a condo and the air is very dry. After my first facial, my skin was glowing and I purchased a 5 pack. This is nice because you can try different facials in the same price range. I've also tried to Urban Renewal facial - I do wish the massage had a bit more pressure, but I suppose it's meant to be a relaxing massage. I find the aestheticians to be very knowledgeable and recommend appropriate products sold at Pure & Simple, but never pressured me to buy anything. In fact, they would even offer samples of products. My facial was with Shari, and words cannot express just how heavenly the entire treatment was. I went to Pure and Simple on Yorkville last week. There was a special on the pear peel facial, and I also had a gift certificate. I got a RMT massage from V. Arthur and the facial from Maryam. The place is clean and they offered tea to their customers. I got a strong-pressure massage (which I adored). The facial was great. My skin was glowing at the end, and although Maryam recommended products, she wasn't pushy. I also liked that they weren't too talkative, because I like to nap during my treatments. I have had many facials at Pure and Simple(have an Urban Renewal pkg) and always had an exceptional experience and sent many of my friends to get a facial there as I believe this is the very best in the city! Today was different,I was looking forward to my facial and to my surprise had a less than mediocre experience! It seemed my Esthetician just didnt feel like doing it today or she didnt get a good vibe from me(I was silent the whole time)...really not sure,but after 10-15 facials at P&S I do know and notice a difference! I have never written a review on Yelp before, and I use it pretty much anytime I want to eat somewhere, get my nails done, find a place to study, or find a place to chill with friends. So like many Torontonians before me I googled "good place to get a facial in Toronto," and Pure + Simple was the first one to pop up. It met all of my expectations! Within walking distance? Check! Clean and refreshing atmosphere? Check! Kind and welcoming staff with awesome customer service? Check! Knowledgeable and respectful aestheticians? Double check! The experience was so good I literally ran home and opened my laptop (which I barely do anymore) so I could take the time to sit down and write a Yelp review.... which I oathed to my friends I would never do.... well here I am. Isabella was AWESOME! She made me feel very comfortable the whole time, and helped me understand my skins biggest issues and how to tackle them. Be aware, these facials are addicting!! Isabella took great care of me with some beautiful head rubs (I mean... who doesn't love head rubs!), and a little shoulder massage since I mentioned I carry most of my tension there. She respected that I wanted to relax but she was also very good about explaining what she was doing and how it was going to change my skin. If you are looking at your skin saying "wow I need to fix this," (which is exactly what I was saying for months before booking a facial) then I would definitely consider going to Pure + Simple. The knowledgeable aestheticians will take a good look at your skin and go ahead (with your consent) with the proper treatments they think is best, and they will help you understand how its going to help your skin which is what I loved the most. Few months ago when my mom came to visit me from states, I booked her a facial with Maryam at the Yorkville location. My mother is very picky and she's been to like a million facial places and have tried so many products. I was so pleased when she said that she had the BEST facial ever at pure and simple. She recommended this place to all her friends and family who live in Toronto. She's now coming back to visit and even before she gets here, she has asked me to book her another appointment with Maryam. She wouldn't stop talking about what a great time she had at her last facial and that her aesthetician's hands were so healing, it felt almost like magic. Maryam's recommendations on products were also on point, she loved every single one. The environment was also so clean and welcoming. I've been here twice for a facial now and my experience varied both times - I think it depends on the esthetician. The first time was slightly disappointing - I was upsold to a facial treatment more expensive than the one I had already paid for, but the treatment itself didn't seem to be much different from the original one I had planned. She also sort of disappeared for what seemed like forever, without saying anything. In the end I was given a mask to take home and use myself, because she ran out of time. I sort of mentioned my displeasure at the counter while I was paying, but I didn't get much of a response. Despite that not so great experience, I decided to give it another shot. This time I booked with Tatiana, and she was amazing. She has magic hands, and I wish the facial could have gone on longer than an hour. It's also the first time my skin wasn't super red after a facial, but still felt as clean. I'm sure there are other great estheticians, but given my first experience I'm not going to take any chances and will just stick to her! read more

I can't say enough about this place! I had originally booked facials for 4 of us, my sister, mom, aunt and myself. It was a mothers days gift for my mom and aunt. The day started out crazy and stressful as driving the streets of Toronto on the morning of Mother's Day was a nightmare. I did not realize that two major streets in the city were closed. After two hours (for what is normally 25min with traffic) of driving we finally made it to our appointment but we were 45min late. I was so annoyed and upset as I was really looking forward to it. When we arrived the staff were amazing, they knew we were going to be late so as soon as we got they they got us into our rooms for some pampering. They for sure extended our time as we should have been finished by 11:15am but it was definitely later than that. I also had expected them to charge me for the facials I had booked but they only charged us for express facials which we really appreciated. Now for the facial. I have never had a facial before but it was absolutely amazing. After all the stress of driving and being late I felt so relaxed after. I had Isabella who was absolutely amazing. She also made some great suggestions for my skin. I will for sure be returning! read more

I would HIGHLY recommend pure + simple spa. I went last night for the first time for a facial and had an amazing experience. The staff were professional and knowledgeable and provided a very relaxing treatment. My skin is so smooth and soft, and I have been trying very expensive treatments (microdermabrasion, peels etc.)for years to smooth it out and in one facial I was able to get rid of the bumps under my skin. Extremely disappointed. I don`t really go for facials so I wanted to treat myself. My skin is oily and has very large pores and they clog up with oil and dirt regularly. I felt like my skin needed special attention so I opted for the extreme deep cleaning with extra extraction time. On the spot, I was talked out of it and offered a different treatment instead. I reluctantly agreed, since I was told the extraction time would be the same (=the main reason I came). I got some masks and serums but the extraction time was somewhere in between 5 - 7 minutes maximum. I ended up spending over half an hour at home afterwards clearing the pores myself. That`s not what you want to do when you just spent $120+. I`d say yes if you`re looking to spend an hour of relaxation and get some face massage - that part was really nice. I say definitely NO if you want to clear your pores and come home with a feeling of clean skin and to see a visible difference. This treatment made no difference to my skin condition nor to its feel (I felt even oilier and more clogged after all the serums) and I will certainly not come back. read more
