Updated: May 10, 2026. I decided to visited this establishment to buy a bag of Indonesian coffee. The service was very poor from the last time I was there. I had to asked a number of the workers to grind my coffee beans. One worker was trying to help me buy needed to ask someone how to grind the beans in the machine. It appears the individual that needed to grind my beans was on his cell phone texting away. I had to insist that I needed my coffee beans to be grind. It wasn't until one of the workers decided to help me to have my coffee beans grind. Even as I left the individual was still on the phone texting. It appears from the last time I was there , all new staff. Also I did not see any fresh pastries. That is why I changed the rating from 5
Cute little cafe to get some work done as well as grab a bite. The service is very fast and the baristas are very polite. The food itself is also simple but delicious and the coffee is definitely worth stopping by for. They also have decaf options for those who just like the coffee flavor but don't want to be jumping off the walls after. They also have a good variety of sweet treats as well, definitely worth a visit if you are in the Elmhurst area.
As much as I (and pretty much every New Yorker) agree that we don't need another coffee shop every 2 blocks, this seems to be the case with bakeries in Elmhurst, but not dedicated coffee shops (unless you count Starbucks lol). Coffee shop during the day, quiet bar at night. Good coffee, matcha, and cocktails--what a gem of a spot to find yourself in, no matter what hours of the day. Elm Roastery has demonstrated how a business should give back to the community. They utilize their space for good and host a lot of social gatherings and community events, which is not all that common in this area...unless you dig for it. I've been here more than I can count and have tried pretty much most of their menu and I have never been disappointed. They get very creative with their seasonal drinks, which is always exciting. Lots of experimentation (which I get may not be for everyone) and varieties with matcha. I absolutely love going to this place when they get into holiday season mode--tree is up, and holiday specials are out, and they have the coziest environment during after-hours. Also worth noting that they sell handmade crafts that are sourced from local artists, like as greeting cards, accessories, and jewelry, which makes you want to support a business like this even more. I will say that their drink prices aren't really geared towards grab-and-go people who buy coffee every day out of necessity, and taste/quality is not a priority, but rather for people who want to appreciate craft coffee and matcha. Asian-owned (Filipino, I believe since my friend pointed out that they have hard-to-find Filipino pastries).
We got the seasonal gingerbread matcha latte, iced lavender matcha latte, chili chicken toast, egg sandwich. The gingerbread matcha had a beautiful cinnamon aroma and a strong matcha taste filled with aromatic spices. The iced lavender matcha latte was also pretty solid and I could really taste the hints of the lavender syrup. I'm curious about their coffee options given how good their matcha was. The egg sandwich is phenomenal with its cheesy, creamy goodness. The chili chicken toast was not bad but needed more chili for my preferences. They also have avocado toast, which I didn't try but looked good. This place has a lot of seating options from table seats to counter. Some places are designated social zones so no laptops. They also have games available to encourage people to interact. I was very impressed with their efforts in making an open and welcoming environment for friends to hangout.
Pulled up to Elm Roastery Cafe in Elmhurst like I was just grabbing a quick coffee... walked out feeling cultured, productive, and emotionally supported This place is fancy but not trying too hard. Artisan coffee that tastes like it went to school, but priced like it still lives in Queens. Cozy, clean, plenty of seating (yes, even in the back), and somehow there's always a spot--perfect for working, meetings, or pretending you're working while eating pastries. Now let's talk damage: * Teddy Bear Financier -- a teddy bear-shaped almond cake with chocolate accents. Cute? Yes. Manly? Surprisingly. Delicious? Absolutely undefeated. * Ham & cheese croissant -- baked fresh daily, buttery, classic, zero notes. * Beef empanada -- straight home run. No debate. * Cold brew -- fresh, smooth, flavorful, and didn't bully my stomach. Staff? Super kind, helpful, and actually happy to be there. Bathrooms? Clean enough to trust. Atmosphere? Warm, inviting, neighborhood gold. Elm Roastery is a major win for Queens. Ordered: Iced Strawberry Matcha (~$8) Aya's take: Elm Roastery is already pretty popular and I can see why. Every seat was taken around 2pm on a Sunday. The drinks are made with skill and intention, they have a wide variety on their menu, and they have a great aesthetic! What's not to like? The Iced Strawberry Matcha was vibrant and bright from the strawberry and earthy and slightly bitter from the matcha. Those flavors combined to make a great drink that was also creamy and balanced. It was very pleasant to sip on and gave me a small caffeine kick. ~$8 it was a bit much but the quality was there. Solid try and would definitely come back when I'm in the area!
I like the construction is unique and darker color but place is comfortably bright. The ambience warm and the place always maintains comfortable temperature. The drink are a little pricey but decent. I am able to complete some work here with at least 2 charging ports around. Hours are great and bathroom is clean. Not bad for a working and waiting area. Always people here but always have seats. Very decent.
Stopped in on a weekend at around 1:30 PM and the place was packed, but I was able to grab a seat the coffee bar. I ordered an iced ube oat milk latte; it didn't come with coffee so I added a shot of espresso. It was good but not sure it was worth the price ($9.50 with the alternative milk, espresso and tip).
Elm Roastery isn't just a coffee shop, it's a gathering place, a warm corner of Elmhurst where strangers become neighbors and mornings feel a little softer. From the moment you step inside, you're wrapped in a cozy, welcoming atmosphere that feels both thoughtfully designed and effortlessly homey. It's the kind of place that invites you to stay a while. The coffee selection is exceptional. My personal favorites are the London Fog, perfectly balanced and soothing, the s'mores latte with its subtle toasted sweetness, and their beautifully crafted macchiato. And on days when I'm not in the mood for coffee, the jasmine lemonade is my go to, bright, fragrant, and incredibly refreshing. The pastries and breakfast/lunch offerings are delish! If you stop by in the morning, you might catch the croissants coming fresh out of the oven, their buttery aroma filling the space. The ham and cheese croissant is irresistibly flaky and savory. The egg sandwich is pure perfection, the eggs somehow impossibly fluffy, seasoned just right, layered with arugula, and what tastes like a secret aioli that brings everything together. Even when I tell myself I'll keep it simple with the avocado toast, I'm always tempted to add that cloud like egg on top. One of my favorite details is the open kitchen. You can actually see the care that goes into every plate and every cup. The staff are very attentive, genuinely kind, and welcoming in a way that never feels rushed or forced. There's a warmth to the service that makes you feel remembered. If you live in the neighborhood, or find yourself anywhere near Elmhurst, Elm Roastery is a must visit. It's only a matter of time before there are lines out the door, and honestly, they would be well deserved.
I will say that I was not expecting a coffee shop like this to pop up in this neighborhood but I am incredibly glad it exists! The inside is very cozy, the vibe is very soft with families sitting around enjoying their drinks and pastries! There is also a neighborhood art wall where you can purchase from local artists! Anything with this sort of opportunity always makes me happy! I had the Taro Latte for my first visit, it was incredibly delicious and pretty! I'm looking forward to when I can sit down and work on some school stuff here, but it is always hard to find chairs here (because it's always packed!! No complaints though, I'm glad to see that business is seemingly doing great!) read more
My coworker recommended Elm Roastery to me, and even brought me a croissant to tell me about this place. The almond croissant was phenomenal, but it still took me some time to visit by myself. I finally was able to visit this morning, and this place was great! I got a seasonal nutcracker latte, which was delicious, and it even came with a small piece of peanut brittle. I got a plain croissant for my husband and I to share, and it was really tasty and not too greasy. It also did taste fresh. This place would be a great place to work from, and they had plenty of tables and places for people to set up and work. I also loved that they had some icebreaker games that people could play with their friends. The place was pricey, and my large latte cost me $7. The croissants were well priced, though, at $3. I can't wait to come back here. This area of Elmhurst gets busy, which makes it not the most convenient place to come to via car, but is still worth the trip! read more
Coffee shop in Elmhurst - why not? Good place to sit down and enjoy some coffee with friends or even solo. There's plenty of seatings in the front and back. Mocha latte: the entire cup was literally filled with milk, the chocolate flavor did not stand out as in any mocha drinks. The medium roast was very weak. Hazelnut latte: where is the hazelnut flavor? It was obviously hazelnut syrup but you could not taste the hazelnut at all. When I think of hazelnut i think fererro rocher.. but instead, you taste this fake syrup flavor mixed in the milk. read more

Welcome to Elmhurst! I am very happy with our neighborhood local coffee shop! When Elm first unravel their storefront during their construction days, I was already super excited for their opening. I cannot believe we are getting a local coffee shop! I love that this business is owned by a local and they partner with local small businesses too. The space is very sleek and the atmosphere is very chill. Elm provides a space that makes it a wonderful alternative to working from home. It is also a very nice spot to hang out and chat with your friends. I have been here quite a few times and I've tried a handful of items on the menu - Cold Brew, various lattes, and baked goods. Coffee is very decent and I can taste the homey-ness of the beans. I love that they asked if I want Medium Roast (fruity notes) or Dark Roast (chocolate notes), sometimes I just want to switch up the flavor! The croissants are baked in-house and they are flaky and buttery delicious! Recently, they started to serve cocktails which really pique my interest. So happy to welcome this new cafe to Elmhurst, a breath of fresh and modern air and serving a bit of a coffee dessert in the area. ICED OAT CAPPUCCINO This wasn't bad at all, artfully crafted - the drinks here are thoughtfully made and rival that of nicer parts of the city. I do wish that it came with a foam cap but I recognize not all iced cappuccinos come with this. The coffee itself was tasty and you get a choice between medium vs dark roast. They also serve a variety of pastries I clueing cream puffs and macarons inspired by Asian flavors including a pork floss caramel adobo one!! This is absolutely one of the top cafes on my NYC Go-To-List. The interior is so cozy and I could honestly spend hours or literally part-time live here. Elm serves AMAZING matcha (+coffee) as well as their signature made to order toasts including the chili chicken and elote avocado which are simple yet makes you wanna go back for more. There are a few tables in the back + outlets + free WiFi so you can do some work, catch up with friends, or just watch the baristas rock their latte art. Everyone is super chill and friendly, just great vibes I also love how they feature local bakers and artists from time to time so make sure you check them out! P.S. definitely planning to come back and try their espresso martini at night. read more

Excellent addition to the Elmhurst neighborhood. Nice coffee/tea/small bites spot, where you can catch up with friends or get some work done. Don't get me wrong, I absolutely love the bbtea spots around this area, but sometimes I just want a good cappuccino, cold brew, or freshly steeped tea. Also the bbtea places don't open till 11 or 12 noon, whereas this place is open by 8am. Came by with a few friends during their soft launch and we each got different drinks. Everyone absolutely loved their drinks- from coffee to iced teas. Smiles all around! I really appreciate that they offer several varieties of tea (and that they are not the generic tea bag kind). Staff was super friendly and nice. I saw one of them patiently explain an americano to another customer and I received some good tea recommendations. Also, it was a friend's birthday and I think her drink was on the house. Lol The space: love the interior design! They have a big window that opens up to the sidewalk for some fresh air and there is seating at the front and back of the shop. Just a note: the lids for the large iced drinks don't fit perfectly. Maybe it was just a small number of lids, but I tried at least three of them. I hope that they can expand their hours just a bit for those that need their caffeine fix before 8am or after 5pm. Lovely coffee roastery in the heart of Elmhurst. My favorite to get at coffee places are Americanos. The medium roast espresso beans they use here is slightly sweet and nutty. Not very acidic tasting. It's reminiscent of Vietnamese coffee. Would probably taste great with condensed milk. Service is a bit slow. I came at a non busy time. Americanos ordered at other places usually takes 2-3 minutes even when busy. Mine took easily over 5 min. I went to the bathroom and was still browsing their pastries while waiting for my coffee. Seating is pretty sparse here. Counter seating is restrictive to not use your laptop. Their mini sign says they do this because they want you to chat with others here. Overall nice little addition to Elmhurst. A little bit of Americana and modernism to a neighborhood that is mostly Asian and family oriented. Cheers! read more

One of my favorite cafes in NYC! Each time I'm in Elmhurst I always make sure to stop here for coffee, or a nice cocktail and dessert on Friday and Saturday evenings. The service is consistently top notch, and as someone who's very passionate about coffee, there is a ton of variety from such a small shop. They roast their beans on-site, and offer at least four varieties of pour over coffee, my favorite being the Ethiopia Floral Lily (notes of jasmine, lemon, and blueberry)--I usually enjoy bolder/darker tasting notes in my coffee, but this one packs a ton of flavor and leaves an impression! On Friday and Saturday evenings, the cafe turns into a bar, offering cocktails, wines, beers on tap from Alweife Brewing Company, as well as several speciality appetizers that are only served at this time. On my most recent visit, there was a live jazz band, which enhanced the experience even more. Outside of the food and coffee, I also admire Elm Roastery's dedication to supporting the surrounding community, highlighting local artists and partnering with community organizations and businesses. read more
A chill cafe around Elmhurst with a gorgeous aesthetic inside. It's easy to miss because of how unlike it is from all the other storefronts around it. They have a selection of coffee drinks, non-coffee drinks (ie ube lattes), and pastries. There's free WiFi and it's big enough to seat ~20 people total in this cafe. Love this place waited a very long time for them to open. Aesthetically this place is very simple yet cute and cozy. I love how nice and clean it always is and they sell so many cute local made jewelry, and artwork from artist. They are a roaster which sets them apart. If you know coffee I can tell you when you get freshly roasted beans the flavor and notes are so different. The owners and employees are all super welcoming and nice as well they recognize you by name of you go often enough impressive if you ask me. This area definitely needed a good coffee shop so I'm happy for this! Okay so for the coffee i give it a 10/10 as long as it is not oat milk. I have tried it many times they make in house nut milks and not a fan of the oat to me it overtakes the coffee and the aftertaste is off. But the latte with soy milk and regular milk is very good. Also they have a nice unique selection of syrups that don't taste fake. The pastries are also a 10/10 I have tried the croissant, almond croissant and a muffin they are baked fresh in small batches!! read more

A speciality coffee shop has been long overdue in Elmhurst and I'm glad Elm has come in to fill that void. What's even better is that it has its own roaster on premise to maintain complete control over the beans used. That is a rare sight even in most NYC cafes, but a very welcome image for a coffee purist. When trying a roaster's beans for the first time, I like my coffee free of any adjuncts to taste their roasting methods and extraction technique. I was satisfied enough with my first cup here that I ended up buying a bag of beans for home brewing, which surprisingly comes with a free drip or cold brew! Next time I have more time I'll be sure to stay a little longer since the interior is beautifully decorated. The only feedback I have for the store is to look for ways to streamline efficiency. To their credit, I may have come when some staff members were on lunch break at noon on a Friday with only two people behind the counter. But in the five minutes I waited to order, the line ended up building up and reached the door. Coffee Beans: They roast their own in house Espresso: Dark blend Latte: Almond with Dark Blend Espresso Pour Over: Burundi My wife and I have been trying to make our way to elmhurst, but we don't really have a reason to except to try Elm Roastery. Even though that is our reason, we still didn't come until now! The ambience is awesome, the baristas know their stuff, the beans are roasted in house, they support local businesses, they make their nut milks in house... If that doesn't give you a reason to go, then idk what may. When we travel to coffee roasters we like to start out with an espresso shot (always!!), drip or pour over, and a latte if their espresso is good (usually espresso is good but doesn't mix well with their milk, ugh!) Their espresso is extremely smooth and full bodied. Pulled perfectly to the point there isn't excruciating bitterness or burnt aftertaste. This was a beautifully executed espresso shot, thank you! My wife tried their Burundi pour over and it was a medium roast, a bit dark but not overly, and a nice aroma. The coffee notes were also different once it cooled down, huge plus! Since their espresso was so good, we had to give their latte a try. We requested their dark blend for espresso and almond milk - which is made in house with Numilk. We were absolutely right, their almond milk isn't overly sweet and pairs perfectly with their dark blend. Very nice job with the milk, we are a fan now! Overall, it was an joyous and memorable experience. We usually visit a coffee shop once, unless it is good, so we will see you again soon! read more

Their in house oat milk is very smooth. Love it. My friends got the caramel latte or macchiato, I forgot, but highly recommend. Not too sweet. Lavender Latte tasted kinda medicinal but if you love lavender then it might be the perfect drink for you read more

Elm Roastery is a delightful lounge/café where life is relaxing and reminds us to stop and smell the roses. I've tried several items on the menu and they have all dazzled my tastebuds. The lemongrass blueberry macaron & dark chocolate mocha is decadent with every bite. The rose latté with sesame milk is rejuvenating, not sweet at all. Definitely two thumbs up! The live jazz music on every Saturday is amazing too. My kids love coming for the live jazz music. read more

In a densely packed area surrounded by bubble tea cafes, a coffee shop has emerged. Popped in real quick cause I'm a caffeine addict and I was hoping to get a waft of freshly ground beans early in the morning. Unfortunately, I wasn't greeted by the aromas I expected of a roastery and I did not find any coffee beans to take home. Got a Lavender Latte and an Affogato. Lavender was very potent and was infused with buds, which my girlfriend felt was appropriate to shoot at me every time she came across them. I found the espresso acidic and after the vanilla ice cream mellowed it out, it reached a sweet spot until I ran out of espresso and just had ice cream left. It would be nice if they had a little roasting class followed by a coffee tasting in the future. Hopefully, they will have more beans in stock the next time I need to replenish my inventory. read more

I liked the design of the place, it's very clean and I think it would be ideal to maybe do some work and have a cup of coffee. The interactions that I had with the staff was also pleasant. As for the coffee I think it's nice and smooth. I would just advise those considering getting the lavender latte to make sure they REALLY enjoy a strong lavender taste. They do put quite a bit of lavender buds in the drink so it's very pungent. I've had the same drink at a different cafe and was expecting a similar strength/balance between a coffee and floral taste. I won't blame Elm Roastery for me not enjoying the lavender latte though because I'm sure there are people who do enjoy a strong floral taste. I also got their chocolate croissant and I enjoyed it and so did my nephew! It's very cool that they make their croissants in-house and you can see them proofing behind the counter :) I do hope to go back to try their other drinks! read more
Beautiful new space with a chill vibe and open windows facing the street. Their bathroom has this fun wallpaper to look at lol. We enjoyed the chicken salad toast and my partner enjoyed their iced oat milk latte (not pictured)! They just opened but have good seating options to do work or meet up to hang. FINALLY!!! A nice cafe in Elmhurst! So excited for this new addition! I got to visit during their soft opening and the inside is aesthetically pleasing, it's spacious and also has some tables and chairs. There are even seats at the counter which gives it an even more intimate vibe. The service is great and people are super nice! Their croissants are freshly baked and their toasts are huge and loaded! For the price, it is well worth it! Here are some of the things I tried: - Avocado Toast: topped with elote corn and slices of pickled radish. Love the THICCness of the bread. Super tasty! - Honey Butter Toast: Oh mannnn. THIS. IS. IT. Perfectly toasted bread with warm honey butter. It's the perfect treat! - Croissants: they've got a nice assortment like regular, almond and chocolate. I hope they get more ham and cheese cause those are my weakness! - Iced Latte: solid latte for sure! You can choose between medium or dark roast and other milk options available! The simple syrup is right by the entrance where do you can control your own sugar level. Also a HUGE plus, their bathroom is really nice and family friendly with a diaper changing station! That's a rarity in this area. Overall, a really great spot to grab a snack or drink. The vibes are 100, you'll forget you're in Elmhurst!!! What a gem. Can't wait to go back! read more
