Extremely disappointing experience at Mission Ranch…read more We were genuinely looking forward to eating at Mission Ranch while visiting Carmel, but the way we were treated completely ruined the experience. We arrived with our child and were told the wait would be about an hour and a half. We understood that the restaurant was busy, so we decided to wait. Two hours later, we still hadn't been seated. What made the situation especially frustrating was watching the woman at the front seat people who had arrived after us, while repeatedly seeming to look us over and pass us by. After waiting well beyond the time we'd been quoted, with no meaningful explanation or acknowledgment, we'd had enough. We left. A long wait at a popular restaurant is understandable. What isn't understandable is giving guests a 90-minute estimate, leaving them waiting for two hours, seating later arrivals ahead of them, and failing to communicate what is happening. For a place with Mission Ranch's reputation, location, and prices, I expected a much higher level of hospitality and professionalism. Instead, we walked away feeling ignored and unwelcome. We never even got the opportunity to find out whether the food was good, because the front-of-house experience was bad enough that we weren't willing to give them any more of our time. Two hours wasted in Carmel. There are far too many wonderful restaurants in the area to spend an evening waiting around somewhere that doesn't seem particularly concerned whether you're there or not.

Charlene was amazing to work with and partnered seamlessly with our vendor team. The Events by Classic team is organized and pleasant, and they made everything easy. When we wanted something custom they didn't typically offer (like mezcal), they made it simple for us to acquire and have it at our wedding. On the day of, their experience really showed. It was super windy, and Charlene had great advice on how to handle my long veil. They were prepared for everything. The food was a major highlight--all of our guests complimented how delicious it was! Thank you so much to the Events by Classic team for helping us have the wedding of our dreams!

The 3-4 months leading up to the day left us feeling unsure of who our day-of Event Manager would be and insecure in our communication with the venue. I was very close to hiring my own day-of coordinator after doing all of the planning myself, but ultimately decided to have faith in the Events by Classic team. Luckily, Susan was our day-of Event Manager and ended up staying with us the entire day. She did a great job executing the decor, managing vendors, and making our day as smooth as possible. The event staff were friendly, kind, and very attentive and the food was fantastic! Many of our guests commented on how good the food was. All in all, we are happy we had our wedding here!

Carmel Beach Hotel - Green cantaloupe refresher

    Carmel Beach Hotel

Beautiful location, ocean views & a jacket-powered blackout curtain…read more Carmel Beach Hotel is all about LOCATION! The drive in takes you through gorgeous greenery, million-dollar homes, and picturesque coastal views. The hotel is also close to downtown restaurants and shopping, and the beach is only about a 5-10 minute scenic walk away. We caught the sunset and it was absolutely beautiful! Check-in was quick and easy, and we were greeted with smiles and refreshments. Our room was spacious and beautiful, with tons of windows and an ocean view. Loved the Nespresso machine with multiple pods, complimentary water, kettle, freshly baked cookies, and turn-down service. The next morning, I sat on the balcony with my coffee, listening to the ocean and enjoying the crisp coastal breeze. Coffee + ocean sounds + Carmel = YES PLEASE. Breakfast arrived right on time, beautifully plated, and everything was delicious. Check-out was just as easy. A few things kept this from 5 stars. The shower pressure was weak, and the handheld spray is positioned where water can easily escape onto the floor. The towel racks are also awkwardly placed. We noticed gaps along the curtains that could affect privacy , and the AC panel has a VERY bright backlight at night. We couldn't dim it, so my hooded jacket became a blackout curtain. THE GOOD: Beautiful location, beach access, ocean views, spacious room, friendly service, cookies, great coffee setup, delicious breakfast. THE NOT-SO-GOOD: Limited parking, shower design, curtain gaps, bright AC panel, and a pricey one-night stay. 4/5 I really wanted to give it 5 stars, but at this price point, those little details should be thought through. Still, I'd absolutely stay here again. The location, views, walkability, and service make it worth considering. Just bring a hoodie. Apparently, mine has a second career as an AC-panel blackout curtain.

The staff were great and very attentive, no complaints there. Greeted with a refreshing melon drink of some sort, unfortunately wife is allergic to cantaloupe. The room itself (room 6) was a different story. The bed was comfortable, free waters and coffee machine, but the blinds had gaps that let light in and let people on nearby balconies see inside. The AC control panel was so bright we couldn't figure out how to dim it, and ended up draping a hoodie over it just to sleep. The bathroom was nice looking, but the shower's water pressure was so low it took three times as long to rinse off -- I doubt it actually saved any water in the end. The towel rack placement was also poorly thought out, positioned far from the shower door. If I hadn't thought to move the towels to the edge of the tub beforehand, we'd have been dripping across the bathroom to reach them. Nice touches, but the room needs some real attention to detail.

Like other reviewers have…read morementioned, you get nothing but the venue space when you pay for it, with a few other perks- 1) The park ranger will be onsite most of the time in order to lock doors, assist vendors in finding power outlets, and to facilitate the drop off and pick up of supplies directly to the venue. This was not something we planned on, and it was nice to see. 2) The venue is extremely cut-off from the noise of the outside world. Aside from the occasional jet flying overhead, we heard no sirens, no traffic, and no rowdy groups of people going by during the ceremony. That's really about it in terms of perks. The flowers were amazing and add an element of elegance to the whole thing. Overall I would highly recommend the venue to anyone else. One word of warning- the summer weekends book FAST there, so if you're thinking about summer wedding, pull the trigger quickly when you've chosen a date, and have a couple backup dates in mind.
