The 3-4 months leading up to the day left us feeling unsure of who our day-of Event Manager would be and insecure in our communication with the venue. I was very close to hiring my own day-of coordinator after doing all of the planning myself, but ultimately decided to have faith in the Events by Classic team. Luckily, Susan was our day-of Event Manager and ended up staying with us the entire day. She did a great job executing the decor, managing vendors, and making our day as smooth as possible. The event staff were friendly, kind, and very attentive and the food was fantastic! Many of our guests commented on how good the food was. All in all, we are happy we had our wedding here!

When our wedding venue fell through a week before our wedding because they refused to let us put up a canopy to get out of the rain, she was kind enough to let us rent our cottage two days early and gave us several location options for our ceremony, whatever would suit us best. She helped me get ready & offered as much love, kindness & support as she could offer. Then, when the weather turned south & started storming extremely heavily during our outdoor ceremony, she generously opened up her own home to us in the top floor of the beautiful dome house to complete our special day. She truly saved the day for us, and treated us like family. The location couldn't be more beautiful. Everywhere you look, beautiful art peeks through the landscape as if placed thete by fairies, and the beauty of nature here creates a sense of tranquility among the redwoods crawling with ivy. Beautiful photo opportunities everywhere you look. A true hippy paradise! The Cala Lily Cottage was cozy, private and intimate, and we felt right at home. PLEASE avoid wasting your money at overpriced, inhospitable cabins/campgrounds out at big sur and come here instead, where you'll be treated like a treasured guest. This place is magical. I have so many good things to say about the Jewel in the Forest and Sofanya. I feel connected to them now as they are a part of my story, and I'm so grateful for that! On October 1st, I married my best friend in a small 10 person ceremony at the Jewel in the Forest. It was the most perfect day of my life, and there could not have been a better place for it. We rented out all 4 of the cabins on property to accommodate all of our guests. That allowed us to stay together and bond through the whole experience, while still providing ample privacy and sleeping space for our guests The Dome House is the most beautiful place I have ever stayed in my life. From the skylights that allow you a peek of the tops of the redwood trees, to the eclectic and beautiful furniture and decorations, to the wood burning heater, topped off by Sofanya's amazing artwork, it is truly an immersive experience. Sofanya provides games, movies, books, musical instruments, and a full kitchen. Everything you need for the perfect escape. We cut our cake and drank champagne as a group of about 12 in the living space comfortably. Most of our guests stayed at the Jasmine house, which has 3 private rooms and a large living space where we all enjoyed dinner the night before the ceremony. Sofanya even strung up the cutest string lights on the patio for us so we could enjoy the outside space as well. My parents stayed in the adorable Calla Lily cabin, which is perfect for a couple or small family. It is cozy and charming. Our photographer stayed up in the adorable Lotus Blossum, which had the most spectacular windows and a one of a kind outside bathroom. So cool! We held our ceremony near the stream amongst the redwoods. It was breathtaking. Overall, the space was beyond perfect for what we needed. Each of the cabins are unique and have so much character. I recommend that EVERYONE visit and escape from reality to this magical place at some point in your life. You won't regret it. Now, I have to say a few things about Sofanya. She is wonderful! She really went above and beyond making sure our wedding was perfect. She hung the aforementioned lights for me, provided several bouquets around the property, received packages with things for my wedding for me ahead of time, and ensured everyone's comfort the whole stay. The drive in takes you through gorgeous greenery, million-dollar homes, and picturesque coastal views. The hotel is also close to downtown restaurants and shopping, and the beach is only about a 5-10 minute scenic walk away. We caught the sunset and it was absolutely beautiful! Check-in was quick and easy, and we were greeted with smiles and refreshments. Our room was spacious and beautiful, with tons of windows and an ocean view. Loved the Nespresso machine with multiple pods, complimentary water, kettle, freshly baked cookies, and turn-down service. The next morning, I sat on the balcony with my coffee, listening to the ocean and enjoying the crisp coastal breeze. Coffee + ocean sounds + Carmel = YES PLEASE. Breakfast arrived right on time, beautifully plated, and everything was delicious. Check-out was just as easy. A few things kept this from 5 stars. The shower pressure was weak, and the handheld spray is positioned where water can easily escape onto the floor. The towel racks are also awkwardly placed. We noticed gaps along the curtains that could affect privacy , and the AC panel has a VERY bright backlight at night. We couldn't dim it, so my hooded jacket became a blackout curtain. THE GOOD: Beautiful location, beach access, ocean views, spacious room, friendly service, cookies, great coffee setup, delicious breakfast. THE NOT-SO-GOOD: Limited parking, shower design, curtain gaps, bright AC panel, and a pricey one-night stay. 4/5 I really wanted to give it 5 stars, but at this price point, those little details should be thought through. Still, I'd absolutely stay here again. The location, views, walkability, and service make it worth considering. Just bring a hoodie. Apparently, mine has a second career as an AC-panel blackout curtain.

Two stars -- and honestly, that's only because of the staff…read more My wife and I made an impromptu romantic weekend trip here; she loves the beach and wanted to stay at this hotel specifically. The staff were great and very attentive, no complaints there. Greeted with a refreshing melon drink of some sort, unfortunately wife is allergic to cantaloupe. The room itself (room 6) was a different story. The bed was comfortable, free waters and coffee machine, but the blinds had gaps that let light in and let people on nearby balconies see inside. The AC control panel was so bright we couldn't figure out how to dim it, and ended up draping a hoodie over it just to sleep. The bathroom was nice looking, but the shower's water pressure was so low it took three times as long to rinse off -- I doubt it actually saved any water in the end. The towel rack placement was also poorly thought out, positioned far from the shower door. If I hadn't thought to move the towels to the edge of the tub beforehand, we'd have been dripping across the bathroom to reach them. Nice touches, but the room needs some real attention to detail.
