First time to attend a concert at Wave St. Studios. It will not be the last, as we have added this venue to a local favorites list. We were privileged to watch Chris Webster and the inimitable Nina Gerber play. It was a show that was warmly connected to their audience, beautifully delivered, and completely charming. It reminded us both of a great house concert that left everyone walking away smiling and satisfied by the experience. The atmosphere at Wave St. is just right-a beautiful interior, a sweet bar and coffee bar, and sound that was near perfect. Looking forward to a next event there. read more

My wife and I got married in Monterey in May 2024 and hosted a Welcome Party at Wave Street Studios the day before our ceremony. The space is a unique and beautiful venue on the Recreation Trail and one block away from the Monterey Bay Aquarium. We hosted 135 guests for a standing cocktail-style event, and utilized both the indoor and outdoor spaces: the outdoor area has a nice pond with a heated bench and lovely landscaping with succulents and native plants. Judy and Rhett (the owners) were communicative and easy to work with. Our contract included only the event space, access to their sound system, and some tables and chairs - all catering, servicewear, decor, etc. needs to be organized separately. My husband and I were just married here and feel confident that this is the best place we could have chosen! We had roughly 130 guests in the end and the owners Judy and Rhett worked with us and our vendors to make sure that we had a perfect floor plan to accommodate everyone. Entering and walking down the stairs with my dad was so special! The warm outside concrete benches and heating elements that were brought out in the evening kept everyone toasty who wasn't dancing, and the sprung floors inside the sound studio were a joy to dance the night away on! We were able to fit in a music jam session toward the end of the night and made arrangements to be able to stay until 1am! If I could do it all over again right now, I would do it all the same! I was supposed to have my wedding at Wave Street Studios on April 24, 2020. Due the pandemic, and the restrictions put into place, I had to cancel my wedding. Rhett refused to pay me back the $3,500 I had already put down for the venue. He suggested to reschedule to another date within 12 months or live stream the event which was never previously discussed or terms of our contract nor were those feasible options for my husband and me. I had to file several claims with my bank to attempt to get refunded and while I did get a portion back, he still has $1,500 that he refuses to refund. He is the ONLY vendor in the Monterey area that I was working with that did not do the right thing and provide a refund. While I understand these are difficult times for everyone, it's very disappointing to see a business and business owner take advantage of such a difficult situation for everyone. read more

We had our wedding reception at Wave Street Studios on March 21st. It was a complete success! Let's just say the DJ commented on how the reception lasted for over 7 hours and his average reception is usually about 4 hours long! The building itself is a beautiful venue, the location is within walking distance to Cannery Row and several hotels - not to mention the bike path is right off the patio. There is a wedding coordinator there that is more than willing to help with anything you need from event rentals to DJ packages (at a great price!) and beyond. The owner Rhett is a nice, easy going guy who was a pleasure to work with. Most venues are very strict about what vendors you have to use and time limits for decorating and cleaning up but Wave Street Studios was very flexible and as Rhett stated "It's your wedding!" I would highly recommend Wave Street Studios as an event rental venue. read more

We watched a magic show here on Friday night. One of my son's instantly recognized the magician from the magic store. At first I will admit seeing all the young kids I thought maybe the show would be too slow for my quick witted teens but they loved it and were active participants in the show. We returned to Wave Street Studio again this year while planning an event for 185 tech founders, CEOs at the InterContinental in October. We used the venue for an after party for the past two years and it was as good as it gets! Elizabeth, their on site coordinator, is a dream and has tons of experience planning weddings, events in Monterey and boy, does she know what you are doing! Elizabeth has amazing relationships with all the vendors in Monterey and was more than willing to go above and beyond to hold our hand throughout the planning process. She even booked us a bar tending staff for the evening (they were awesome) and picked up the ice for us!! The venue itself was phenomenal and Elizabeth made it even more special. We had a Sweet 16 for my daughter and her friend here this past weekend and what a perfect venue! Had about 100 people with DJ and buffet set up (my review of the awesome Main Street Bakery & Catering is on their yelp profile) and this space is perfect for that. Rhett and his wife are kind and easy-going and his staff is very helpful. They helped us with everything, including setting up tables/chairs, moving plants around and heat lamps, and getting my slideshow up and running. The place is magical when the sun goes down and the lights come on. My daughter and her friend were so happy to be able to host their party in such a beautiful setting. The dance floor inside is perfect, the courtyard is so pretty and those heated benches - wow! This is a really great place to host a venue and I'll forever remember this party as being very special, party because of the atmosphere of this place.
