OMG. Can I give this place 10 stars? After eating here, I feel like I need to revise my rating system! (Though, that would really be unfair to other establishments...) Anyway, let me begin with thanking my BFF for an amazing bro date and making reservations at this place, which had been on my Yelp bucket list (and should probably be on anyone's Life bucket list, finances permitting). If you are looking for an upscale evening and a very filling, *SEVEN* course meal, consider Elizabeth's Gone Raw.
So, first, yes: you do need to make reservations. We were able to make Saturday evening, dinner reservations for 2 about a week in advance (it wasn't a holiday or anything) so it shouldn't be too long of a wait. Second, the restaurant caters to adults (thank gawd) so there are no children's drinks or menus. Perfect if you are trying to get away, not perfect if you like tag-alongs. That also said, the menu only had about 3-4 nonalcoholic juice type beverages other than alkaline water; the rest of the drink menu was a very extensive wine and cocktail menu. (I did not really look at either since I wasn't ordering from either, but I'm sure they were good.) Finally, while there did not seem to be a dress code, I understood that any place with countless utensils per dish, multiple courses, and reservations meant that jeans with holes or other teenage mutant ninja street clothes would be extremely poor taste. Both my friend and I wore button down shirts, women around us seemed to dress in business casual. Alright, on to the food!
I mentioned it was a seven course meal. Some of the courses looked like tiny snacks and some like small meals. But as I explained to my friend, one at a time you might think there is no way you will get full, but if you imagined all of the food stacked on your plate at once, you'd be overwhelmed before you were through. Plus, despite everything being raw plant based, the food was incredibly rich and with artful combinations of flavors that were incredibly satisfying. I asked my friend to take pictures of each item because my phone is... *sensitive*... so minus one which we dug into too quickly, I think I will be able to upload the tasting menu from March.
Also, it really doesn't make sense to describe every single item... maybe I will edit this post later and do so, but for now, I will just describe my friend and my mutual favorites. The first was the Almond Jerusalem Sunchoke Crême, which was a creamy, peppery soup with a riced cauliflower center, and the Quinoa Roja Cake, which was served with a "buttermilk" sauce (not sure the base) and chopped pimentos. Oh, and the Cherry Coffee Tea Ice Cream with meringue and berries was AMAZING, of course. I felt like each course was so complex with components varying in flavors, textures, moisture content, and temperatures even, that it actually felt like each part told a story of some kind, and that the sum of the parts truly felt like we had gone on a journey by the end. I have never experienced anything like that before and believe it is a true testament to the talent and genius of the chef!!
I think that covers the experience. I will definitely edit this to update the precise course names and add further details, but for now, I hope this encourages others to enjoy a similar experience! read more
