A warm shoulder wrap and chilled citrus infused water when you walk in, soft music in perfectly appointed rooms and a super soft bed round out the experience. I've been here twice; once for a couples massage with the fiancé and recently, for Spa Week. I got the $50 hot lava shell package and it was AWESOME. I told them to concentrate mostly on back and neck (Terrible posture from sitting at a computer all day; thank you, graduate school) and it really helped. I love this place because it's affordable and they actually care about your patronage. They want you to come back, unlike the hotel spas who don't necessarily care! I called on a last minute due to an intense hike yesterday morning. They were able to get me in for a 45min session, which was awesome enough. The ambiance was surprisingly great considering their location. They immediately welcomed me, offered me a hot or cold neck wrap, and there are comfortable chairs to relax while you wait. I met with Becca, she was very nice and interested in my issue/past injuries. She asked me what I needed and suggested a few techniques and really listened to what I had to say. I took my mom here for the pain relief steam massage. I didn't get anything, but when mom came out from the back, she looked like a happy lump of jello. I waited in the front waiting area for mom, and had a nice little chit chat with the receptionist, I think her name was Valerie. All the employees were super nice and friendly. The waiting room is comfy and there's a nice atmosphere for a relaxing massage. They have some tasty herbal teas that they offer, I'd recommend trying them, "wake-up" or whatever i got had a nice berry bouquet to it. Word of mouth gave me lots of different answers and ultimately I chose Elixir and I'm so glad I did. It's relaxing from the moment you walk through the door. I also work in guest service at a local hotel and they do it right here. Very sweet, accommodating and all around great staff. The space is clean and calming. I had Tristan as my masseuse and my boyfriend had a young blondish woman (I believe she's one of the best there from what everyone was saying but I forget her name, I'm sorry!). I had the 60-minute Elixir aromatherapy massage, which was a delightful experience from beginning to end. The receptionist was very friendly and the warm scented neck wrap was a treat. It made me feel like I was getting a jump start on the massage. The rooms, linens, and tables are all lovely. The table gets special love for being heated and having a comfortable face rest. My therapist was Kirsten. She is tiny, but incredibly strong!!! She gave me the most thorough massage I have ever had on my back, neck, and lower body. She did run a little short on time and had to skip my arms so that she could spend more time on my trouble areas. I am not sure what magic buttons she pushed in my neck, but she managed to loosen up my TMJ for the first time in as long as I can remember. The 'up-sell' that others have mentioned was not a big deal for me. She just showed me what she used and asked if I was interested. It's no worse than what one might experience at a hair salon. Using spafinder.com, I found Elixir. I couldn't be more happy with my massage. Michelle was amazing. Before we started she wanted to make sure that she focused on what I wanted to focus on, and she did exactly that. They had a promotion involving their new hot shells, and I have to say I would do it again. It definitely got into the little knots that needed some heat to relax. Just from entering the establishment, I knew that I would enjoy my time here. Upon entering I received the customary neck warmer and was offered something to drink. The room itself was dimly lit, and the music playing was what I had selected. A reviewer mentioned that their masseuse was too chatty, but all they had to do was say something right? I wasn't pressured into purchasing any of the products they had which was nice. However I did find out that you could buy the sheets I was lying on, and the shells that they use. The folks at Elixir really have it down, from an incredible front staff, one of whom placed a warm, yummy-smelling pack on my neck while I filled out their form, to fixing me a cup of herbal tea, to a massage therapist (Karla) who I liked from the moment I saw her. She is not only a terrific and gifted massage therapist, she's a good person with a lovely smile. My appointment was for a 60 minute massage but she worked on me for almost 90: "I hope you don't mind if I go over -- my lunch break is next so no problem working a little extra on you." Ok. Great ambiance. Super sweet massage therapist. But I have to tell you. I don't know if it was just the one massage table or if they are all like this. But the head piece slides. So if you are getting a deep pressured massage ever time the massage therapist pushes up the piece would slide again causing your throat to push against the table affecting your breathing. I told her three times that it was sliding. She would just push it back down so I started adjusting it myself. I hope your experience isn't like this. read more

The staff were all lovely and we even spoke with the owner after our massages. The warm neck packs before are a great treat while filling out the tedious (but necessary) paperwork. My best friend had never had a massage before and he is now hooked. His masseur did a wonderful job of answering any questions before and then explaining things during and afterwards, which really made him more at ease. He also followed up with a lovely handwritten note and an offer for a discount on his next massage, awesome! My massage was ok, I definitely appreciate the deep tissue work.It certainly wasn't the best massage ever, but was my needs were certainly met. However, I did not receive the note or the discount offer, which when I know my friend got one....a little dissappointing. My husband and I received a couples massage gift certificate for a 60 minute massage. The room was cozy, the quality of beds pillows and sheets were better than any other place I've been. I believe we had Christy and Sean but the names escape me at the moment. My husband said his was awesome. Not a peep out of him the whole time. He said he was a little sore the next day but that's how hard he likes his massages. I had a prenatal massage and everything was explained to me thoroughly and I felt completely comfortable and relaxed the whole time. I didn't think they'd be able to match my previous massages now that I have to lay on my back and sides but they surpassed all my expectations. And Sean (hope I'm recalling his name correctly) actually did ask if it was okay to put the skin cream on my belly which I appreciated, because that would have been very unexpected had I not known ahead of time. Hot towels on the feet were great. Scalp and head massage was the most relaxing part. Will definitely return for a couple more prenatals before I pop... I work nearby and had passed Elixir dozens of times but hadn't checked it out until my girlfriend got me a gift-card for the holidays. Just got around to using it last night and cannot stop raving about the service. Above and beyond the cool little amenities (neck wraps, aromatherapy, hot towels for your feet), my massage was hands down the best I've ever received. Molly, my massage therapist, was able to work out a crazy knot I'd been suffering through for weeks (and that's after I'd already tried my chiropractor, several other massage places, and even acupuncture). Will definitely setup another appointment the next time I need a treatment and would highly recommend Molly for anyone else suffering from acute back pain. read more

I have to admit, I've been a long time customer of Elixir - to the point where now I just get a yearly membership because it's not a question anymore on whether I'll want to come in! I started coming into Elixir in late 2009 occasionally for some RnR. I don't remember who my therapist was at that point but I remember that it was an awesome massage. Which came in handy later, because in mid 2010 I was in a car accident that left my poor shoulder all bound up. I started coming in far more frequently then, and the deep tissue massage I was getting with Ketty was heavenly! I continued to see her exclusively until she sadly moved away a year later. I went through a couple other therapists there until re-settling down with Kris. Kris has been amazing, and I continue to enjoy coming in as much as I can. So far I've explored just about every option on the menu (including pre-natal massage!) and have yet to be anything but happy and relaxed when I walk out. My favorite at this point would have to be the hot stone massage, and I look forward to doing that again once I'm no longer pregnant! The front staff has always been extremely helpful and accommodating, even the one time I had cancel my appointment (Nov or Dec 2011 I think it was?) at the last minute because I was stuck in Boulder due to a snowstorm! They happily rebooked me and didn't charge for the late change - which I wasn't expecting at all. They are also very good at finding a therapist that is more my style whenever Kris isn't available. It's great to know that the staff know the therapists styles are enough to recommend one based on your previous visits. I haven't run into the upsell that others have run into - but admittedly I've been going to Elixir so long that I don't think anyone (thankfully) thinks to upsell me on anything. So my experience probably wouldn't mirror someone who just started going to Elixir. The only issue I ever had was a few months where the tenants upstairs had small children running around, which was pretty distracting. I haven't heard that at any of my appointments in the last 6 months though, so I think that problem has been taken care of. read more

Overall the massage was thorough and the perfect blend of deep tissue and relaxation, but what makes this place special is in the details - comfortable room, warm table, heating pad on your back while you're getting a foot massage, the list goes on and on... I love this place, I've always had good experiences here, and can't wait to go back. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is because of the recent hike in prices. I had a gift card so I booked a 30 minute mineral facial and a 15 minute add on foot treatment. The reception area and the staff were very nice but the "facial" was by far the worse experience I've ever had. It was pampering or beneficial to my skin. Plus I did not receive my 45 minutes of treatment and my face (and hair) was an oily mess when I left. Maybe they're better with massage treatments then these "facial" massages. I usually stop by for a much-needed vacation massage, but tried out their facials this time. I LOVE Alyson!0 She listened to my current issues and skin care routine. Then I had the most relaxing and cleansing facial. The products used were amazing and did not irritate my skin. She also treated my neck and upper chest area and gave a great shoulder massage. After the facial, my skin was soft and glowing for the next week! She was able to identify my problem areas right away and offer great suggestions and products to update my daily skin care routine. When I sign up for a 60 minute massage, I really expect the massage to last 60 minutes. I was disappointed that the clock started from the moment I walked into the room. I'd say my massage probably lasted 35 minutes. The other 25 minutes were "wasted" on smelling oils, talking about key areas to focus on as well as what the lava shell massage was going to entail, and the undressing and dressing. read more

I went to get my very first facial ever, and loved every second of it!! I went to go see Hannah, who is such a beautiful person. She's so calm, attentive and very knowledgeable about all the products they use. She asked if I wanted to know more about the products or if I wanted to relax and because it was my first time there I wanted to know everything!! She used Liquid Crystal cream that helps with anti-aging. A wonderful kiwi cleanser that felt refreshing and smells delightful. Everything she put on my face just made the experience that much better and smelt fantastic!! I will definitely be going back for another girls day!! I get spa treatments regularly. I went to to Elixir 3 months ago and it was just OK. A few weeks ago I was trying to find a spa day after a two week vacation and it was the only place locally where I could get an appointment. My experience yesterday was pretty horrifying with my facial and massage. The aesthetician that did my facial got some stuff in my eyes that burned really bad and then after that I was worried about going blind, which made it difficult to relax. When that treatment was over I washed my eyes out with some eye drops I had, which made it bearable enough get a relaxing massage. Unfortunately, it was anything but relaxing. The whole time I just wanted it to be over and almost asked the girl to stop a few times, because I literally felt like I was getting beat up. My body was convulsing and tense from the massage, which she never really picked up on. I even cried a few times. It was pretty much after 10 minutes into my treatment I just wanted to run out the door, which I should have looking back on it. A day later, I am in serious pain and have bruises all over my body. On top of all of that the minimum tip requirement is 20%. For the first time in my life I wasn't planning to tip 20%, but was given no choice. Maybe a good spot for tourists, but as a local I do not recommend Elixir and will not ever go back there. read more

I found this AMAZING place in 5280's Top of the Town over a year ago and could not have been more thrilled after my first visit. The ultimate massage there, in my opinion, is the classic steam massage. You walk in and you're given a nice and warm neck wrap and one of their "tonics" to drink while waiting. Then you're lead into a room with lovely low lighting and your choice of music playing. The table is covered in these great, soft sheets.
