First time in almost 2 years. The access fee has increased from $30 to $32. The reception and resting area have been refreshed. The bath area has been repainted. They have added a new cold plunge tub between the hot tub and the shower. The front desk said the owner has decided against rebuilding the baths and putting up a hotel above. I was looking for a Korean bathhouse in Denver. This came up because of the high reviews. Not traditional Korean. Meaning nude is optional which is a plus. Was not aware that it's gender-specific depending on the days, a little disappointing after making the drive. You are only instantly required to pay to go into a locker Room to undress, and then to an unsanitary 'spa' where multiple people wait naked for their unsanitary treatment. Massagers DO NOT sanitize, wash their hands, nothing, before you pay lots of money to relax. Once you do, you may find yourself in front of an unfortunate young child who doesn't understand where they are, or why they are there. if You are going to have naked children in your facility, you are already the lowest level of lows. Phenomenal experience as a first timer today. The facilities are clean (especially for an almost 100 year old building), the staff is friendly, the other patrons just as friendly. I got a scrub from Amanda which was also incredible. My skin feels so good! As someone who has lived in Denver for 11 years this was somewhere I'd always drive by and be curious about but too nervous to try. Now I'm mad at myself for not taking the plunge on this place earlier. You can tell there's a sense of community here, and when you walk through that door to the baths, you're immediately welcomed into it. I look forward to returning when we get our first cold snap of the year and sweating for a few hours. Sunday morning steam and soak. Came here for a relaxing escape. Needed to loosen up the lungs with some warm steam. Recently renovated lobby is nice and the price is $31 I think. There is a small seating area with tables and coffee which could be better repurposed for something else as it seems unnecessary and underutilized. Large locker room. Clean bathrooms. Access to the steam baths and the massage area as well as a resting space if you need to cool down and plan to be here for longer periods of time. Wet area has been tidied up since my last visit. Soaking pool and showers now have a cold water tub and shower as well as multiple resting places. Steam room is nice and seats about 8 people comfortably. Constant in and out means the steam is often in continuously. Dry sauna is very large and can accommodate 20 or more easily. Weekends are a favorite for local Russian groups who want to bath and use eucalyptus branches and the works. In two hours I was sufficiently steamed out. Many people were there for the long haul but I felt like I got my moneys worths in that time period. Lots of parking. Massage and scrubs are very affordable and it's a clean and sanitary experience. They have a sign in the door that warns off people who are sick or demonstrating symptoms of illness so don't come there to harbor a cold or expect to hack and cough and not be confronted. A solid four. Updated and enlarged spaces would make it a five star gig but I am sure would lead to increased prices so this seems a reasonable spot for them. read more

I'm hoping they still do the sugar scrub( makes your skin feel like baby skin), the tub and sauna are perfect for relaxing. I also had a massage with a very professional and experienced masseuse for less than outrageous prices other places charge. They have a cold shower shot too. The two purposes of my trip from Japan to the U.S. (San Francisco and Denver) were, Watching MLB games and To go to a sauna. Not far from downtown Denver and about a 10-minute walk from the light rail station (RTD "W"Line Knox Station). Admission is $30 and you can stay as long as you like. It is not a mixed bathing facility, and is divided into men's day and women's day depending on the day of the week. The sauna room has an old-fashioned stone sauna stove, a regular Vihita, a bucket and a water tap! (It's a sauna room that we don't have in Japan) I think the water tap is there to wash off the scattered vihitas after whisking and to fill a bucket with water and cover your head with it when it gets hot (but if you ask if the sauna room gets warm, it does not. It gets hot very quickly.) (But if you ask if the sauna room gets wet, it doesn't.) Instead, there is only a small cold plunge bath. In the afternoon, we went in the morning to watch the MLB Colorado Rockies game, but it rained heavily in the morning. We decided that the baseball game would be delayed, so we took it easy (as expected, the game started an hour late, but it cleared up quickly in the afternoon). I think we were lucky in this area, too! (I have never been to Finland, so I don't know, but I have seen a sauna scene in a Finnish movie, and it was quite similar to the one in Finland). My first ever bath house experience and it was great! You get a sheet and towel upon entering (and can rent a lock for your locker). Drop your stuff and enter the large room that has a deep hot tub, cold plunge, and showers. Towards the back is the steam room and sauna. It was my first nude experience with other women and it was liberating with no judgement. The other women gladly answered any questions I had and were helpful. Enjoyed a lovely 25 min scrub also. Left feeling very relaxed. Will definitely go again next time I'm in Denver. read more

I've been going for a year now, and lake steam is honestly a hidden gem. The sauna, steam room, and hot tubs are just the right temperature. The staff does a great job at making people feel welcome and maintaining a safe and comfortable environment, and the services are absolutely top tier (and an unbelievable value.) I like to get massages by Chad who does myofascial work. DO NOT GO TO CHAD IF YOU CANNOT RELAX THROUGH THE INTENSE MASSAGE. IF YOU CANNOT RELAX THROUGH THE INTENSE MASSAGE YOU WILL NOT BE HAPPY AFTER. If you can't relax through an intense massage, Stephen is very popular, and I've had Jesus who started out very gentle but quickly realized I need the intense stuff. The massages are also INCREDIBLY reasonably priced compared to the quality of service you receive. I also like to get the body scrubs. I've only ever had Sergio, but he's massage therapist certified so he works some of that stuff into it, and I feel like a completely different person afterwards. I've also had two facial services by Prudence, and, she is incredible. I was very happy but I think I need to do more to give a more through review. as a family oriented, Russian Spa; funny business is strictly against the rules. If you see any funny business, and it makes you uncomfortable, please tell the staff and they will handle it quickly. If you read the bad reviews and they got you excited and you're going for that, I have bad news. Your odds are not very good. There's an establishment nearby that is more than happy to assist you. Women are only welcome two days a week?! Mondays and Thursdays. We don't even get one of the weekend days... When I called to ask why, a very nice person who was not the owner let out a big sigh and said this is not the first time they he's heard this feedback but this is the owners decision and women don't come frequently enough to make it worth the business as well. Well how are women supposed to come when they're only open two days a week and they're both weekdays? Left me completely disinterested and a little grossed out. They are closed on Tuesdays so that means four out of six days are open for men and two weekdays women are allowed to visit. Huge major turn off. Interesting place. Along the lines of a Korean/Turkish bathhouse. I've been to Korean style saunas before, so I was generally prepared for what things entail. I called before to schedule a scrub. Person on the phone was nice and was able to answer all my questions. Pulling up to the place, it seems small and inside it feels a little weird (old). There's a couch and table when you enter and check in. You're given a towel and key and then go to the back to the locker room. The place itself isn't that big. There's basically a few rooms, though the baths are in one room and then there's a sauna. There seemed to be some other random rooms for relaxing, though they were just normal rooms with chairs (not heated rooms, salt/crystal rooms). The bathing area isn't that luxurious. Just basically one hot pool, a cold one and showers. I got a scrub. Scrub was very nice and relaxing but...it's in front of everyone. I think a privacy curtain, even a cheap plastic would have been nice. But the scrub includes also some massage/stretches and I felt amazing afterwards. A plus for me was that they take credit cards and you can tip on the credit card. Seemed like they also offer massages and it seemed those are given in private rooms. I didn't go into the sauna. I tried but it was too busy. For what it's worth, I didn't notice any inappropriate behavior here. I'd say, come here for the scrub or massage. Place is too small to just hang out. For what it is in the current Covid environment, this is an excellent no-frills spa option. Is it the best spa experience I've ever had? No, but it's convenient, clean, consistent, private, and reasonably priced. So far, I've been here 4 times in the last five months. Price: $100/90 min. for the bathhouse (up to 6ppl but I never bring more than 2), which includes a hot tub, steam room, hot sauna, and showers - 3 rooms total. Small hand towel, bedsheet, and locker provided. Space: You walk through a long hall, passing by the vanity room, restroom, and kitchen to get to the bath area. The place is small so I can't imagine what it's like pre-covid. Everything looked aged but very clean. Bathhouse cleaned before and after reservation. The two restroom stalls have little privacy (wide cracks and bottom of stall's higher than normal). Convenience: -Easy to call ahead and make reservations and reschedule, provided it's more than 24 hrs till appt. Must provide credit card info for $50 deposit. -Small parking lot which isn't an issue right now. -VERY socially distance friendly. Locker area blocked off for your reservation. Service: Limited contact which I prefer for this experience. Only conversations are in the beginning and end of reservation. They're always welcoming without being too formal. read more

If you are uncomfortable being naked, you should 10000% not go here as it is a naked space. Take this review with a grain of salt as this is really the only place of this nature/offering this service and for me, I think that factors into my experience there. Pros: Affordable. Its only $27 dollars to use the baths/steam/sauna and the massages are literally half the price you would find elsewhere. Plenty of parking. This is not a predatory space. It's either all women or all men and they don't mix the days. So when you go, you can expect to find ladies just mingling and hanging out and there isn't anything "abnormal" about it. Cons: The space is ancient. Like, probably hasn't been updated since the 80s and it's silent. So there is no ambient music or any thing to make the space feel relaxing or spa like. They don't offer even basic things like robes, sandals, towels (that aren't extra), tampons, hair ties, etc. When you arrive you get a scratchy white motel sheet as your privacy cover and a hand towel for the baths. You can bring your own but not into the pool area itself, only the locker room. The structure is sort of weird from a practitioner perspective. The baths allow massage therapists to work as 1099 employees in the space which means that you pay for your service and the baths separately. You have to pay for the baths either way -- ten dollars if you don't use them and 27 if you do. Similar to the rest of the space, the massage rooms are dated and don't play music. My massage was good but, I don't think I will go back because it was too hard to try and relax given the environment. My second visit to Lake Steam yesterday, and nothing has changed, except for the prices due to inflation. This is one of the institutions that will likely stay the same for years and decades, and everyone likes it the way it is. It works great! Admission is up to $27 now, from $17 when I last came here in 2014. Massages were all full when I came, but I was able to squeeze into a body scrub session by signing up in person when arriving. The facilities are simple - a large Turkish bath room with showers and a hot tub, and separate rooms for a dry sauna and a steam sauna and locker room. I have been to this place a few times, as it is not far from where I live. I enjoyed the baths, the massages, and the price. It's pretty typical for a Russian bathhouse - could use some renovation, but overall, enjoyable. I was going to take my daughter with me there for a Sunday soak, as I thought some warm humidity might be nice. Lo and behold - they've eliminated Sunday evenings for women. Men now have the entire weekend and Wednesdays. Women are only allowed on Mondays and Thursdays. What the heck? I would have given this place four stars, but that's pretty ridiculous. I've been going to this bathhouse for about two years, but today a lady named Sue brought me to tears!!!! I just always use a sheet or my towel under my head as a pillow (I don't wet it, I don't wipe it, I don't go into the steam room with it), but today a lady named Sue decided that I couldn't use my towel under my head and made a scandal on in an empty place, kicking me out and saying that I should get out of the bathhouse!!! This is at least not correct, if you work with people and such people should not work there, I hope she is happy and her day will be successful!!! The steam baths were so relaxing! They have a whirl pool, and dry and wet saunas. I loved that you could spray some eucalyptus in the wet sauna. So I got to visit this little gem today and am so glad I did. I have been to Denver many times and have always wanted to try it, but the scheduling has just never been right. Well today it was! First, yes the place is old and outdated, but I feel that's what makes it what it is. Is not some posh spa that's going to charge you an arm and a leg for entry and a massage. It is bare bones pure relaxation. I didn't feel it was dirty at all (and trust me I was looking). I feel people are just mistaking old for dirty. There were no foul smells or anything like that. Hot tub was the right temperature, dry room was on point, and the sauna was perfect. Just wish the sauna was a little bigger. Had a massage by Sergio and he was excellent. A little sleazy cool, Lake Steam Baths looks oddly peculiar on the outside, which is situated smack on Colfax Avenue, one of Denver's creepiest streets. One might think that this building holds just an old sign with nothing inside, but truth be told, this bath house is still steamin' and has been steamin' and run by the same family since 1927, which still seems kind of creepy to me, but something is keeping them alive and popping. Don't get any ideas; I know what you are all thinking... None of that can go on here; well at least none of that with the opposite sex, there are separate men's days and ladies days... Once you pay the low $14 entrance fee, a soap scrub is only an additional $8.00 and a massage is only $30.00 for an entire hour. The owner looks at his bath house as a way to exercise your heart and body through detoxification, cleansing, and relaxation and you can go back and fourth to the whirlpool, sauna, steam room, and showers as many times as your heart can take. You can even enjoy a meal here, because the bath house offers deli style meals in their restaurant. It would be ideal to describe this local flavor business as a spa, but it is nothing like a relaxing spa with soft fluffy music and rich people with their long French Manicure toe nails... People come here to bath...Period. So all expectations of lavish spa lobby's and services should be left behind when you come to this bath house. Instead, share a steam room with a few senior citizens, get scrubbed down by a mammoth women who literally scrubs you down with soap while you lay on a table...
