When we asked about an empty table that was already set and ready, the manager was rude and dismissive. We expressed our frustration firmly and were told to "calm down", then shockingly told to leave. We left hungry and disappointed. It was very tender, however, and the inclusion of the vegetables/fruits provided a much-needed acidity to brighten up the dish. The portion was quite small though; only one octopus leg was served. -Calamari Appetizer: The calamari tasted fresh and bouncy, not frozen. The side of fried jalapeños and shoestring onions was refreshing alongside the chipotle yogurt dipping sauce. Though I prefer my calamari to be more lightly-breaded, it was one of the better calamari starters I've tasted. -Lamb Chops Entree: Quite a generous portion of 3. The meat was tender but felt a little dry and lean. The meat was not at all gamey, but I wish they were more lenient on the chimichurri sauce -Lobster Bucatini Entree: Though the lobster was cooked well, the dish overall was quite disappointing. It tasted almost like an alfredo with some acidity from tomatoes. I think bucatini was not the right vehicle to pair with the sauce -Poached Pear Dessert: After reading raving reviews, we opted to try this dessert. The pear flavor was very light and not at all prominent. It felt like they skimped out on the ice cream. Not too impressed by this dessert. Cocktails: We ordered Fire of Olympus and if you like your cocktails boozy, you found a great spot! Not much blackberry flavor at all, but we were impressed with the kick in the cocktail's flavor. Service: Though the bus boys frequently come by to fill up your water, the service was quite slow and lacking. The table next to us was acquainted with the owners and they received much more attentive care and service. Not only that, but they were standing in the aisles and getting closer to our table. It was almost difficult to enjoy ourselves. Throughout the night, we were only approached one time to ask about the satisfaction from our meals. Ambience: We thought this would be a romantic anniversary dinner, but we were definitely wrong. The music was extremely loud and holding a conversation with the person in front of you was quite difficult. Since we were seated by the bar, privacy was lacking; people were essentially looking over us with their cocktails and crowding our table. Other than that, I was impressed by the wall decor. It felt like we were transported to Greece. If you're looking for quiet, intimate dining on a Saturday night, look elsewhere. For one of my last reviews of the year - Elia! Elia is a Greek restaurant that has a heavy Greek islands light Turkish influence - think Chios, with a nice Çeşme lean to it. I ordered the seabass and dolmas and both were fantastic. My fish was seasoned perfectly and I loved that the dolmas had a bit more of a yaprak aura to them. The service was friendly and prompt and (aside from the fact they sadly don't serve mastiha), we enjoyed everything about our meal! Let me start off with the cutesty ambiance, it's everything I would imagine a Greek restaurant to be. We were celebrating my sister's birthday here, and from the second we walked in the host greeted us instantly and handed us menus that said "Happy Birthday" on it. We got dinner here last night and it was so delicious! Drinks are also great and our server went above and beyond by helping us package some of our dishes to-go after we had to leave earlier than we planned. The ambience and decor of the restaurant is amazing and I especially loved that they had blankets at each seat just in case it cold. The inside restaurant got a bit crowded since they had live music and people were dancing so we dined in their outdoor section that had heater lamps. We stopped in this night on a mission to find the best espresso martini. When we entered it was an immediate party atmosphere with a live DJ. It was very busy and quite loud. Regardless, the ambiance was still nice, with good decor and lighting. We sat at the bar and the bartender was extremely nice and helpful. The drinks came with a ginger chew garnish which was a different twist and was very delicious. You only go to Elia for two reasons: bar hopping or for the aesthetic. This is not a spot to go on a regular since it is pretty pricey. I brought my mom here for the big 50 and I was pleased with the service. Food was honestly kind of average but I do have to say, the drinks were fire. I would see myself going here to bar hop because the drinks are reasonably priced. I only wished they told me my mom was going to get a birthday baklava because it looked like they were just going to give me the bill so I unnecessarily spent more on dessert. We both got the baklava but it was TOO sweet. I would not recommend it! Food wise, I personally think the Bucatini Astakos was alright. It tasted a bit plain? I liked the Moussaka more. It reminded me of a lasagna. I wished I got the paella because these Yelp images make it look soooo good! Drinks wise, get the Evil Eye if you're into something sweet or love eyes. My friends and I had a reservation on Sunday at 5:15 p.m., and we were seated quickly upon arrival. Elia's decor gives it a Greek vibe and atmosphere. The service was excellent, too. The staff was attentive; they refilled our water glasses every time they noticed our glasses were almost empty. We ordered Pikilia, Seafood Paella, and Koutoulo Souvlaki. The Pikilia was so delicious. We asked for more pita bread because we just devoured the whole thing; we loved the dips. The Seafood Paella was also excellent. The flavor was just right, and the spices were not overpowering. Lastly, the chicken souvlaki was the bomb. The chicken was tender and had a lot of flavor. From the blue paint on the walls and the pipes, the contrast white wall with cut-outs for decor, and the blankets hung over the chairs for customers. Every person serving the table was prompt and friendly. Refilling the water, clearing our table, and bringing out more bread. It's pricey and the meals are not your American generous portions, but it still is satisfying. The bread was warm and the olive dip was yummy. I ordered the filet mignon souvlaki and it was cooked to perfection. The seafood paella was topped with a lobster tail! The rice was not overcooked and the flavor was yummy. The marinated seabass itself didn't have too much flavor, you can only taste the lemon juice and capers. The roasted cauliflower was piping hot which made the cauliflower too soft and mushy. But it had so much flavor and the melted cheese on top made it even yummier. It's a cute date night spot. Nothing casual about this place. The aesthetics matched the quality of the food too. Met some old friends here. Found parking almost in front, which was great! The restaurant itself is very nice to look at. The colors are a beautiful shade of blue and white. The bread and chunky dip is yummy. Since we hadn't seen each other in many years, we were not in a hurry, but placed our order right away. I had the paella, but I can't remember what my friends ate. Food came out relatively soon. We had an iced tea each. The food was yummy, not delicious and not bad, but yummy. After, we decided to have a coffee and split a couple desserts. The coffee was old and cold. They happily made a fresh pot (or so I think they did). I'd say this place is overpriced, but most of the area I think is the case as well. Portion was pretty decent. Absolutely not. We did not eat here--and never will. We had a 2:00 p.m. reservation on 1/4/26 for five people through OpenTable. My sister-in-law arrived first with my teenage niece and was aggressively and rudely told that we did not have a reservation. The restaurant was essentially empty, yet he made them wait outside in the rain until I arrived. I say "he" because the man refused to give me his name when I asked. When the rest of our party arrived, the situation somehow got worse. Despite the restaurant being nearly empty (one man was dining inside), at no point did he ever offer to seat us. Not once. No explanation, no apology, no attempt at hospitality--just hostility. I still don't know what happened to our OpenTable reservation, it is not really a point as could have seated us at any time. I calmly asked if he could simply write a brief note stating that from the restaurant's end there was no reservation, so I wouldn't be charged OpenTable's fee. He flatly refused, saying he was "not allowed to write anything," which made no sense and felt needlessly confrontational. What's especially disappointing is that I had a wonderful experience at the Pleasanton location last year--great food and excellent service--which is why we chose this restaurant again. This experience could have been handled with basic kindness and professionalism. All he had to do was explain the issue and offer to seat part of our party while we waited. Instead, we were treated with outright disrespect. We ate elsewhere and received excellent service. If you value being treated decently, I strongly recommend choosing one of the many other excellent restaurants in Walnut Creek. We certainly will. read more

It was really busy so I suggest a reservation unless you want to sit at the bar but that was pretty full too. We were seated as soon as we arrived. This place has indoor and outdoor seating. When you walk in the vibes are there. There is music playing people are dancing and you really feel like you are in greece. The lights are dim and it's a nice ambiance. The tables are close fyi. Jesse was our server and he was amazing and gave good recommendations. I ordered the cupid arrow mocktail and asked for the bubble since im not drinking at the moment. It was really good. To eat we ordered the chicken souvlaki it was really good. The seafood paella was so fire. I really didnt enjoy the lobster on too it was bland to me. If I ordered again I would ask for it without. For dessert I was skeptical about trying the poached pear but it was amazing and different. The presentation of the food was even nice. Definitely recommend giving this place a try. It's very hard to choose a favorite, but I would say the pear dessert if you want something that looks beautiful, is very light, and kind of healthy! My favorite is their deconstructed lemon cheesecake. It's heaven and I could've ordered two more of them! For dinner, my favorite is their sea bass with Israeli couscous. So simple yet delicious and very good quality. The ambiance is also divine, I love the bar area and the Greek inspired wall art. We love Elia in Pleasanton, and we had an equally excellent experience at Elia in Walnut Creek this past Thanksgiving. Great food, great service (Bekir was top notch, second to none), and a very pleasant, festive atmosphere. The only thing I wish is that they had more vegetarian options for main entrees. The mushroom truffle risotto was delicious, as was the vegetarian moussaka in Pleasanton, but they only seem to offer one vegetarian entree at each restaurant. There are plenty of vegetarian appetizers though. The fried olives are fantastic, and I look forward to trying more appetizers in the future. My friend and his wife already ate here and so they wanted us to try it for our Galentines celebration. They get pretty filled up with reservations so make sure you book a table ahead of time! The ambiance is reminiscent of when I was in Greece, and also love the walls with the vases and decors - very aesthetically pleasing. Food is 10/10. They're not the biggest of portions but everything we had were great. Get the saganaki if you want to witness the flaming block of cheese in front of your very eyes :) You can't go wrong with the Kalamarakia (calamari), seabass, filet mignon souvlaki, and the seafood paella. However, I can't say I feel the same about the Octapodaki. It was okay, I think it was overcooked. Save room for dessert and get the poached pear (very refreshing) and the Galaktoboureko!! The latter dish reminds me of fritters but it's phyllo dough with custard! Both desserts weren't that sweet. The only reason I took off a star is because the front of house hostess could have been nicer. Very uppity and not at all welcoming. Arnisia Paidakia - lamb chops - hard to go wrong with lamb chops unless they're overcooked - we'll seasoned and prepped. Pumpkin Gratin is interesting. Pastitsio - it's like a pasta bake. Sure this would be a crown pleaser for people of all ages. Kefthedes - similar to above, hard to go wrong with this meatball dish Chicken Souvlaki - tender, flavorful pieces of chicken Seafood Paella - smaller version of paella that you would find and some places but appropriately priced Pikilia - taster of their three dips Baklava - this was fine, but nothing to write home about.
