First of all: this place smells amazing. The smell of fresh baked goods and coffee is definitely the scent to beat. The honey orange blossom latte was better than I expected. The floral taste slightly lingers in the month. The zucchini cheddar scone was absolute delicious.... Guilty... but delicious

Maybe I'm a sucker for LOTR, or maybe I just love a good cafe that can do pastries and coffee well. Either way, I loved this coffee shop on the border of Astoria and Dutch Kill. The location is the only draw back, as it is situated almost under the elevated train tracks that cause quite a racket. But if you go inside you find comfy chairs, bean bags, lots of board games, some books, and killer pastry and coffee options! Highly recommend the pistachio pastry and the croissants. The cappuccino was excellent. And the ambiance was chill and dark, almost like a hobbit lived there!

Super cute environment, reasonable prices, but not too much seating inside. I got a flat white, and it was as expected.

Ordered: Iced Cardamom Vanilla Latte (~$7): with oat milk Iced Mocha (~$7): with oat milk Blueberry Galette (~$9) Aya's take: Lovely cafe serving well made specialty drinks and fresh pastries. They have a few housemade syrups and decided to try the Cardamom Vanilla in my Iced Latte. It was absolutely delicious and I loved the unique addition of cardamom in a latte making it more aromatic and added some warmth and depth to the drink. The Iced Mocha was also a good try; they make the mocha syrup in-house too! The Blueberry Galette was incredible. It's flaky, it's sweet, it's crisp on the outside, it's soft on the inside and the blueberry compote wasn't overpowering at all. Slightly tart, slightly sweet, and very fresh. I love the amount of thought and effort that goes into everything here. Highly recommend checking out Elevenses!

This marvel of pastry perfection is soon to close, we understand. It has much to do with a terrible landlord. I just finished a raspberry tort that was so delicious I just closed my eyes and chewed and enjoyed every tiny morsel. Georgia, the owner and pastry artist, puts absolute magic perfection in each and every creation -- the taste, the texture, the combination of flavors -- it makes me cry that Elevenses will no longer be around the corner. If you have a special occasion that needs a special treat, give her a call and order soon. As for me, I have no idea where I'll find her qualify and caliber again.

Went for a Yelp event but I am so glad I stopped to purchase coffee and tea. The server was an actual delight and recommend me the Titan's espresso cream which was absolutely delicious. It was like a dessert in drink form. If I lived in the area this would be my go to coffee shops but when I am in the area I will definitely stop by!

    Focaccia

I adore this cafe! It gives very laid back vibes with the couches on one side and high top seats on the other. Their coffee prices are reasonable $4-6, they have a blackboard on the counter indicating some specialty drinks and al the flavored syrup options. The standouts are of course their rotating menu of fresh pastries with at least 4-5 options each for sweet and savory. I only wish they had a board listing their pastries of the day. Today we tried their focaccia and morning bun. The focaccia was thick and fluffy, it was topped with tomatoes, potatoes, eggs with a spicy kick - quite delicious and filling. I loved their morning bun, it was not overly sweet, notes of orange zest and caramelized to perfection. I hope this one is a standard option they offer. Needless to say, this is a star cafe in Astoria!

    Grape Galette

This is my new favorite cafe in the area! I've come on two occasions and there's nothing more satisfying than a delicious pastry and an amazing cup of bold iced coffee to keep me refreshed after a morning workout. Their pastries are mindblowing--and I don't really throw that word around that much. I was completely blown away when I first had their grape galette. I've never really had a pastry with grapes so I wasn't sure what to expect but as soon as I heard the words "goat cheese" and "open-faced croissant," I was completely sold. On my last visit, I had a pastry that had peaches and I was so hungry that I basically scarfed it down as soon as I walked out the door. It was good, though. The best thing is that their pastries are made in-house in small batches so they're fresh! I do think that it'd be helpful for them to have their pastries on display so customers can see the range that they offer and not ask about them since they offer some pretty unique pastries than your average cafe. Such a shame that they're pretty new and I recently switched gyms so I won't be able to swing by on weekend mornings as much but no lie, this place is wonderful. I actually preferred coming here over Little Flower (no shade to them, but fighting for a seat is super hectic there) and I am okay with them not having as many food offerings yet. Seating is super limited but I adore their vintage furniture.

Cozy spot with lots of natural lighting. I got a cookie with pretzels on it - super delish. Also got the iced Peach Peony tea which was a wonderful refreshing beverage. Can't wait to stop in again.

This is one of my new fav pastry spot in Astoria! The baker here puts in a lot of effort and thought into her bakes. They're really delicious and value for money. I've tried the classic chocolate croissant, and some other interesting baked such as a shallot cheese scone/biscuit, and even the seasonal bun with cardamom vanilla custard/cream. I love that they take the time to explain the pastries to me as well. If there's one thing they can improve on - drinks. I tried both matcha latte and a hot latte in the past and they were only okay.

    Rebecca W.

I'm leaving a 5-star review just for Elevenses' savory scones. Don't get me wrong, everything else I've tried has been excellent, but there's something about their scones that are out of this world. They are flavorful, moist, and delicious. The atmosphere is charming. They have a lovely seating area. Everyone I've encountered who works there is lovely, and the service is speedy.

    Iced pumpkin spice latte
    Liz N.

A solid place in the neighborhood for pastries and coffee!! I would say not to follow the menu that's posted on yelp/pics on yelp. The owner said the menu needed a major facelift and wasn't accurate. Their current food menu is whatever is listed on their chalkboard, so we ordered 1 of everything they had left. We got a hand pie (squash, mushrooms, and spinach), cookie (Chocolate chip walnut), scone (carrot, ginger), and morning bun. All the pastries were delicious but my favorite was the hand pie! The crust was so flaky and the filling was savory but it was also flavorful. I got an iced pumpkin spice latte and the coffee was very good. It wasn't too sweet and I enjoyed the drink. The restaurant felt homey and I could tell there were many regulars and other return visitors, for good reason! We ordered the mixed vegetable and the oyster mushroom and surprisingly I much preferred the oyster mushroom variety. The mixed vegetable momo tasted more earthy to me. Himalayan rice set ($20.5)- this was a very nice assortment- there was rice, lentil dal, your protein of choice- (I chose beef brisket), stir fried cabbage, broccoli rabe, pickled vegetables and crisp flatbread. The only downside in my opinion was that the brisket wasn't too tender and I didn't love the beef flavoring or preparation. The rest of the items were so delicious! It can be a little confusing to find since it's a stand inside the market, not a separate store front. They carry a pretty wide variety of Asian flavor-inspired breads, pastries, cakes and cookies, including buns and some more dessert-type items. I checked out Progreso for an event this past weekend and ended up buying a few items to go: - matcha marble sponge cake $4.49: was fluffy, light and moist, good flavor of matcha and a light schmear of whipped cream in the middle. Would get this again! - taro cream puff $6.50: this was taro paste (? not sure if that's fully accurate though it felt more consistency of soft whipped taro than a traditional pastry cream) with whipped cream on top sandwiched by what I believe was choux pastry with craquelin. I think maybe because the this was sitting chilled/refrigerated for a while the top craquelin layer wasn't quite crispy anymore, though it looked nice. Personally it was a bit too much regular whipped cream, would've preferred more of a taro pastry cream. - mango pudding with fresh mango $6.50 mango flavor in the pudding was light though it was a nice tease of flavor. The texture was on the firmer side for puddings. The mangos were a bit oxidized though tasted ok, maybe glaze them or do something to maintain the color? Since this is a pretty new spot hope they could make a few improvements and blow it out of the park! I appreciated the owners' enthusiasm for sharing about their shop.

Food-wise, everything impressed us. I ordered the pistachio croissant, while my companions got the gochujang hot chicken sandwich and the breakfast sandwich. The chicken sandwich was especially memorable--unique, flavorful, and absolutely delicious. My pistachio croissant was also great; personally, I might have preferred a little less pistachio cream or a more textured filling like almond paste, but that's purely a preference. It was still excellent. The service really stood out. They were quick, friendly, and incredibly accommodating--one of my companions accidentally dropped their sandwich, and the staff replaced it free of charge without hesitation. That kind of kindness goes a long way. The price point is amazing for the quality of food you're getting, and we felt completely comfortable lingering for several hours. Me and my girl was looking for a coffee shop that was laptop friendly and closed late since we came after work. I was a bit disappointed that they did not serve any alcoholic beverages as I saw a lot of good reviews on that portion. We came, we sat down on a Saturday night. There was only one person at the front and it seemed she was also managing the serving part so it did get pretty hectic at some point. We decided to order the Budae Jigae (Hot Pot), there is no way to alter the spicy level so for those who love spicy spicy, this is for you. Me and my friend was really disturbed by the fact that we were treated some type of way. Maybe it's because we weren't Korean or? Service was slow asf. It took a really long time for them to serve me my iced strawberry matcha drink. And even longer for the food. It was also hard to tag her down, and she seemed pretty annoyed that we had to ask her for multiple items. We were a party of 2 and she only gave us one set of items. I went again by myself the next day to see if it was better service and it was pretty packed. There was actually 3-4 people at the front but even then it was so hard to get someone to take my order, ask for napkins, for the check, etc. While there was no time limit on Saturday, there was a time limit of 1 hour and 30 minutes on Sunday. would I go again? They accept both cash and debit/credit card. The line was effectively managed with no line cutters, no arguing, and nothing crazy going on. Overall, it was such a pleasant experience. Everyone just ordered one by one towards the front when it was his/her turn. The Vietnamese Cloud Coffee was $7.52 (after tax). Hot/iced + medium/large drinks have different set of prices btw. Staff then handed me the glassware & a free sampler bowl of their soon-to-launch either lemongrass chicken/pork rice bowl after accepting payment. Portion was definitely more on the generous side to say the least. Devoured the sampler bowl in 15 mins because I was hungry & aside from keeping the rain not getting into the food. Flavorful lemongrass chicken + appetizing pickled carrot + fresh, crunchy sliced cucumber laid on a blanket of fluffy white rice. All the ingredients went well together. This is something I would definitely buy for lunch/dinner if this item ever gets added to the menu in the future. I ordered a hot Vietnamese Cloud Coffee, a new drink on the menu. My first time actually ordering a hot drink from Tea & Milk. Usually go for the iced drinks but I was feeling quite cold. So, I needed something hot to hold in my hands. Vietnamese Cloud Coffee - Cà Phê Trứng (Egg Coffee) is made with egg yolks + Vietnamese coffee powder. Lastly, it's lightly sweetened with condensed milk to give off an all-around creamy texture and taste similar to tiramisu. Something created with such simple ingredients yet could feel so soothing at the same time. A hot coffee-based drink on a cold, rainy day is like a snuggly hug. Staff called out your name when it was ready for pickup. Love starting my day off with the strong flavor of Vietnamese coffee! By far, this might actually be the best tasting Vietnamese coffee I have had in all my years. And, I'm usually not a coffee person either. Didn't taste watered down and/or heavily sweetened at all. Everything's just right. Definitely would be going back next time for other coffee/fruit tea drinks.
