The first time we came here, we sat at the bar, which was a great experience. This second time we sat in one of the other areas, which made it not quite as good. It's a little awkward that you have to stare at strangers while enjoying your drink. And these strangers were very loud, to the point where it interfered with our conversation. Okay so fair warning, you either know where to go initially or you're walking through Pappy McGregors and people eating dinner looking at you weird. But once we got there we were in for an EXPERIENCE. You get there and you ring a doorbell, wait for the hostess to peek out of a literal hole in the door, then she lets you in and you go in this soundproof room. She then gives you these Yondr pouches to lock your cellphones in to keep with the speakeasy vibes, you have them on you the whole time but just have to use them in a hallway if you must. I seriously forgot I even had a phone because it was such an amazing experience! We got 4 drinks total- the Bayard Beauty, Pats Back Pocket, Blue Blazer (hot cocktail), and a custom NTS (not too sweet). All of them were unique and very tasty! My boyfriend wasn't too fond of the hot cocktail but he wanted to try something new and that he did! The amount of smoke and fire they use (literally) is so cool and that's the only time I wish I could use my phone. Overall definitely go for the experience and amazing drinks. This place is great! My second time going, they were able to accommodate our somewhat larger group of 5. Everyone got different drinks and every single one was delicious. We had the Malagueña Salerosa, refreshing yet smoky, not sweet. The Libiki, fruity, tropical and sweet, butter pecan old fashioned, a nice spinoff of an original old fashioned, NTS, not too sweet, just as the drink is called, also very refreshing, Likeminds, fruity and sweet. This is a great place, with excellent drinks and a real speakeasy atmosphere. A real 30s-40s atmosphere. They don't allow you to take photos inside! That only adds to the atmosphere though read more

This is a cool little spot. I loved the dark speakeasy vibe. The cocktails were on point and the service was decent. My primary complaint is that we were acting responsibly and took an Uber over. However, we were not able to get an Uber, Lyft, or Taxi home at closing time. My friend asked the staff at Pappy McGregor's (the parent restaurant/pub directly in front of 1122) if they could recommend a car or taxi service or any other options for us to get home safely. They could not care less that two women were forced to walk home in the freezing cold in the wee hours of the morning. I became very ill as a direct result, but at least we weren't harmed...or worse. You guys need to do better to assist your patrons! read more

Eleven Twenty Two is a must visit speakeasy in downtown Pasa Robles. The atmosphere is spot on with staff in character and it's 1930's inspired music and decor. It's a fun place with unexpected twists. The drinks are delicious, custom made by their well seasoned mixologists. Eric is incredible! Get there early to avoid the wait. Loved this place. We initially weren't sure we were going to get in which would have been a shame since we were from out of town but luckily the host was able to get us in. This place is talked up throughout the town and makes expectations high and they do not meet that, unfortunately. You wait to get in and build that hype up, which is fun, but then when your in you get this weird run down of rules.. put your phone in these crazy cases, be a certain volume of noise, makes sense, I guess. But then get into a small booth with a cocktail menu of not very good drinks that are pretty pricey and have to get up to order them at the bar where bartenders are not mixologists, they are bartenders. Shhhh! Don't tell anyone about this review - it's a speakeasy afterall! This glorious little bar is the perfect space to enjoy a fine cocktail with even finer friends. It's small, dark, and intimate. They only let so many people in at a time, so you might find yourself waiting outside by the door on a busy evening. The staff was incredibly nice and knowledgeable. They can help guide your palate to find your perfect drink. I ordered the Red Light District because of the mezcal and interesting tinctures. I was told that it was "interesting" by some staff - they were right! while it wasn't bad, it's not necessarily I'd order again. Definitely order to try - it's an odd combination. I can't believe what just happened! They didn't let as in even though we had our ids, as requested! we looked online before going to know what's required to get inside. They insisted to see our passport, I don't remember where or when was the last time a passport was a requirement to get in somewhere, especially if you bring your ID with you! The entrance is right behind Pappy McGregor's. If you have trouble finding it, ask the bouncer and he'll give you directions to the back. Upon entering, the host will lead you to a staging area and explain the rules before going into the bar. The seating area is certainly interesting as each section is facing another section. So you'll certainly get to know the characters of Paso Robles as the night progresses. The bartenders were great and the policy of "one out, one in" kept service consistently attentive. This place isn't too different from other speakeasies but the locals we met inside were funny and interesting enough to keep this place memorable for me. read more

Add this Speakeasy to your "must do" list when visiting Paso... You will not be disappointed!! We saw a sign near Pappy McGregor's which led to the back of the building where there was a small line. We didn't have reservations (we got lucky) & the doorman said it would be a 10 minute wait but we only waited 5 minutes! He took us through a secret door & placed our cell phones in a locked pouch, which we carried with us. It was actually nice to not be distracted with our phones. We sat in a beautiful booth & had amazing service!! We both ordered the Butter Pecan Old Fashioned with a smoked cinnamon stick... ohhh so good!!! Upon leaving they "unlocked" the pouch & gave us our phones. You will exit through a separate door through Pappy McGregor's. Such a cool experience with an awesome vibe!! read more

My favorite speakeasy is 1122 in Paso Robles. You enter from the backstreet, and go through a secret library door. You are taken back in time. We sat at the bar and let our bartender make us one of their creative cocktails. I highly recommend 1122. It is small so make a reservation. read more

Quality cocktails, intimate setting, friendly guests, and lovely bartenders. If you want something off menu but not quite sure, the bartenders will ask what you like and make you a cocktail. I saw it happen 3x in one hour and all three people were beyond pleased with their cocktails. I only had a bubbly split and it came in the cutest ice bucket (so I wasn't left out of the fun!) They have a 90 minute stay time which is nice. The wait was never long and the bartenders were never overwhelmed. Best part? No cellphones!!! They give you a lock bag to put them in. Two of us went on a Sunday evening. We had about a 10 min wait. Chatted with a local family outside and some visitors inside. Highly recommend! read more

Okay, so this place is the coolest. I come down to Paso twice a year for wine tasting, and I always thought if you wanted any nightlife, you had to go to SLO. But Eleven Twenty-Two is one of the best bars I've ever been to, anywhere. We had to wait for 15-20 minutes or so to be allowed in, which I suppose just made it even more exciting once we were finally admitted. When our group of 4 entered, we were in a tiny little space, with walls on both sides and a curtain in front of us, where a man with a 1920s-era look gave us the spiel of the rules and how it all worked. And then he announced "Welcome to Eleven Twenty-Two" and pulled back the curtain in an unveiling that made me feel like I was entering a movie. The decor and overall vibe was super swanky and just... cool. The cocktail menu is extensive! I'll be coming back to keep trying more, but even locals will need many, many visits to make it all the way through. The drinks were great, and once again, just... cool. One friend's drink involved blue flames, another's had a giant-block espresso ice cube made in a fancy Japanese espresso maker, and mine had reconstituted fig. I'm 100% coming back here on my future Paso visits! read more

They don't allow cellphones inside so they put them in a holder locked until you leave the facility. It was nice to just chat with my boyfriend without being on our phones. We came here because we found out the owner (who also owns the Alchemist Garden) is a huge mixologist who has won National awards on his famous drinks... so of course we had to go try them for ourselves! They have this famous drink that is apparently so strong that they cap it at a 2 drink maximum per person for anyone who orders it... well we got one and let me tell you it was STRONG! Definitely drinkable which was the bad part of having it go down easy but I don't remember too much after that one. My husband is 6'4 and 265 pounds and even said the drink took him to a different level after having just one. Great vibes and atmosphere. We arrived fairly early (7) to try and avoid long lines. We waited about 20 minutes. There were two couples in front of us, and one set of people that had reservations. Its a fairly small venue, so smaller groups seem to work well. The aspect of hidden is so-so, our uber driver dropped us off right at the line. Thats offset by phones in locked bags, the sliding peep hole used by the hostess, the amazing cocktails, and leaving through a different door. The Phylis Original was my personal fave, a bourbon peach tea. The Blackberry Lemon Mint Julep was as refreshing as it sounds. The Ambrosia was my least favorite, little too tart for my liking. Took me about two drinks to find a good one, so if you're looking for a drink to start at I'd suggest the Peach bourbon smash! Great drink! Plus you barely taste any alcohol! Our phones were taken away, so you can really enjoy the vibe and really have great conversations with the people you came with! OMG! This Speakeasy is a must-do when in Paso Robles. Our Airbnb recommended this well hidden gem. Our drinks were well crafted by Matt, the General Manager. He also came by to see how we liked our libations. So cool, they follow 1920's protocol. (We felt seriously underdressed once inside the venue.) You wait at the front door and you never see anyone leave the establishment! The bar only seats 27 folks so get there early or be prepared to wait. Also, technology does not go hand-in-hand with drinking establishment - cell phones are locked in a bag (that you hold onto.) This place was so fun! We kind of found it by accident, just had some time to kill and wanted to end the night with a different experience. It's in a back alley and seems to always have a line, and they only take three people at a time (at least that was our experience). When we went in, our phones were locked up in pouches that were strongly magnetized. Kind of nice to see people conversing and not documenting their beverages on Instagram.
