Super cool bar. We were driving into town at night and randomly stumbled upon this place and stopped in to have a drink. The funny statues at the front give the place a unique atmosphere, and the architecture/interior of the building has a classic Cheers-like feeling to it. It's spacious and roomy on the inside with nice furnishings and it has a beautiful wooden bar area if you appreciate those things. There's also a patio with tables out front which is perfect if you have dogs. The service was super great and friendly, and also everyone we met was really friendly. It's definitely a locals hangout, everyone there was a local. While we were there we ended up talking to several people and they were all really nice. My friend and I were both clearly out of towners and both the bartender and the local people were super cool, so we definitely had a difference experience from the last two reviewers. I will say though, they do close on the somewhat earlier side, I think they closed around 12-12:30 on a Thursday when we were there so don't expect to be staying there till 2am. If you're stopping through town, honestly I think this place is a hidden gem that's worth putting on your list of places to visit. read more

My girlfriend, her cousin and I came here after one drink at the bar across the street because my girlfriend and I remembered how much fun we had here last time (with a different bartender, important) and wanted to show her cousin a good time in this town. As soon as we walked in the vibe was weird- it reminded me of the movie Get Out. There were zero women in the place- just the male bartender and 3 male patrons. No music playing, no conversation. Just silent. We were 3 women walking into this creepy male dominated bar but didn't care because we were just there to have fun. In hindsight we should have walked right back out. My girlfriend and her cousin had to use the restroom so I sat down at the bar to wait for them and order us drinks. Right away the bartender approached me and in a very unwelcoming tone told me "just so you know I've already called last call". I checked the time, it was 12:30. We had had a late dinner the next town over and had just gotten back and were looking forward to a nightcap in this town we love to visit so much. Now, we all know that bars close at 2, (it even says that on their hours when you Google it) so I was confused. I looked at the clock, looked back at the bartender, and said "it's not even 1 yet. Are you not open until 2?" To which he VERY rudely and condescendingly replied, "what, did you see that online somewhere one time?" and was visibly annoyed that I dare even ask a harmless question. At this point I had felt completely unwelcome and was basically in fight or flight mode because I could tell he just wanted a problem. Ok, you got it. I asked him what his problem was and he stammered over his words like he was surprised I could even hold my own. His goofy ass buddy playing pool stepped in as his backup at this point reiterating that last call had in fact already been called. I said "ok, that's fine, but he didn't need to be so rude about it". To which the dork playing pool replied "he wasn't being rude at all actually", like ok, are you hoping to go home with him or something? I said "you must have not heard the way he was speaking to me then" at which point this man towering over me started raising his voice and YELLING at me "I'm standing right here I heard the whole thing!" at this point I was honestly ready for whatever was coming next but by then my girlfriend and her cousin were coming out of the bathroom completely unaware of what was happening so I just called them all assholes and told my girlfriend "we're leaving, these guys are f***ing weird" and we left. The 5'4" male bartender followed us out and stood on the sidewalk as we walked to our car, I guess he was trying to look tough but our group of 3 women were all taller than him. I said loudly that he clearly has little man syndrome as we left and that was it. I have no idea what his problem was. We are very friendly and respectful people and were there to have a drink or two and a few laughs before going back to our hotel for the night and instead I was met with *attempted* intimidation by *mostly* fully grown men. I guess they wanted the place all to themselves for their little circle jerk sausage party. Won't be back. Ever. I've been a server and bartender for over 15 years and could never imagine treating anyone this way. It was truly disgusting for absolutely NO reason at all, and based on all the other reviews complaining about what is clearly the same guy, it astonishes me that this is the type of person they want representing their business. I went here with my spouse and 6 month old daughter on the 7/3/26 at around 5pm to get a quick beer after antiquing. It was our first drink. The bartender Montana was great, but the manager was openly hostile to us- white guy, middle aged. While seated at a bench as my spouse was grabbing us each a beer, I was accosted by the manager and belittled. I was told that, directly and without any hostility from me to "get up". I wasn't sure initially who this man was and I and the two ladies at the table next to me started to laugh nervously (because who does that, he must be joking). I am not being hyperbolic when I say that he told me again, with even more aggression, "I'm serious, get up!" I went to unlock my stroller and he told me a third time without my husband present (I don't think he knew he was there and was trying to tough talk a lone woman with a literal baby). I told him, "okay, I'm getting up, I have to unlock the stroller". He continued to needlessly berate me and in a belittling fashion exclaimed, "I know how strollers work, I have two kids!". At this point I am up and moving off the property. My husband comes out with our beers and I tell him, "come on, we're leaving". Reasonably, he wants to know what happened, at which point the manager states that "we don't know how to read" (mind you, we are both over 21 and it's early on a Friday and we never imagined it would be a problem). My husband tries to tell the guy that there is a kinder way to do this. We continue to be aggressed by this man who then tells my husband, "you need to leave" while simultaneously grabbing over his hands to physically take the beers away. Naturally, my husband responded in kind and told the assailant to "not touch me". Long story short, we were rejected extremely rudely and with prejudice over a problem that does not exist. Moreover, when my husband tried to call the establishment the next day to notify the owner (Casey Kelso), he was met again with dodginess from James over the phone. James told us (after having to pry way too hard) that Casey would be in on Tuesday and to call in then to speak with her. My husband called back Tuesday around 12:20pm when James answered the phone again. James told him that Casey would be in at 2. My husband thanked him and said he would call back. 2:15pm comes around and my husband calls back. No answer. After multiple calls they are no longer answering, so my husband went to leave a message regarding the incident over the phone and had his message PHYSICALLY CUT OFF by whoever was working there. We think the owner should be aware of how her establishment is being run. Casey, if you see this and would like to speak further on the matter, please drop an email. It is our belief that this manager believed we were out-of-towners visiting for Fourth of July weekend and he could simply get away with abusing us. Unfortunately for him, he is incorrect in this assertion. We are locals and have walked by the establishment 100's of times. Additionally, we find it interesting the rules that the mgmt wants to enforce and let slide. You see, the manager was openly smoking marijuana with two other men out front on the public sidewalk when we arrived. I have noticed him smoking as I've walked by before and want to let you and him know that now, should we see that occurring, we are going to film it, approach him, and contact the necessary authorities. This all could have been avoided, and we hope that you realize that the spinelessness of this manager can potentially hurt your business should his behavior continue. Legends is a neighborhood staple... after looking at some of the reviews I'm a little confused... I've never had anything but great service. I've also acted like an ass when I've had enough to drink and treated accordingly. The staff is attentive! If any bartender is 4 deep and you're tapping the bar with your credit card or your empty glass (worse)... you're probably not going to get attention anywhere... it's called bar etiquette... don't yell at them... trust me they see you. Remember going to the store as a kid and you continually asked your mom for candy and eventually got smacked or verbally chastised??? It's kinda the same when you grow up. They wouldn't even let us in. I'm not sure if it's because the bouncer out front was trying to flex (at 120 pounds) or if it's because I had a couple of sealed alcohol samples from another bar, visible and sealed from another establishment that I was at because I'm in the industry.. I feel weird, leaving a negative yelp review about another restaurant.. I've never left a negative Yelp review ever, for a restaurant. But I guess I am now. And I own a restaurant. The samples were sealed I could've left them with the bouncer at the door. He could've told me to return them to my car. This just wasn't handled well. 3.6 stars on only 176 reviews, you may want to talk to your staff. I went here for my first time last weekend. My boyfriend & I traveled to Morro Bay for the 25th annual yard sales. Let me first say the environment was cozy and welcoming. I heard very good things about the owner of the bar who passed by us a couple times with a friendly smile. Within the hour of being there, the male bartender and a woman began to argue. She was saying he was being rude for no reason. As the woman left, the bar began to applaud, so I joined in. I ordered my drinks from the woman bartender who was soooo sweet! But, at one point I asked the male bartender a question about their music machine. He IMMEDIATELY seemed annoyed & visibly showed it. I wasnt sure what I was doing wrong, so I rephrase the question timidly, hoping to not "offend" him again. His answer was unbearably RUDE for zero reason. This made me understand why he was already called a psycho earlier that night, which made me feel terrible for clapping when that lady left because of him. I decided to walk away without saying anything, but later I wanted to order a drink at the bar and the woman was busy. Guess who still DID NOT serve me after a few awkward eye contacts passed, it was late enough for him to go home I guess. But he served one more person before he left, not me though. Luckily the woman was a great experience. I wanted to share this in hopes he can consider being in better spirits when going to work. His negativity was highly uncalled for. Went in last year and it was fun! Went in again this last Sunday (Sept 15) after we called and they said they were playing the Saints/Cowboys game. We booked it in and got a table. The crowd was mainly Raiders fans (booo) but everyone was super friendly! It was the bartenders 50th birthday and the vibe was just pure goodness! People were super friendly, the bartender was amazing. A gentleman had way to much to drink and the bartender cut him off, in a very gentle way. It was nice to see. The loaded tots were tasty as heck. The drinks were affordable and delish! Bartender was awesome, the cook was super friendly and sweet. Stopping by from road trip of highway 1, this is the spot to stay before a good night sleep, great billiards, great people, great services given by Megan. Feeling safe around the area as traveler. I am so glad I found this place through yelp that closes later than many other bars around Morro Bay. Whoever your bartender was the night of 7/26 around 11pm is despicable. We are locals and had company in town. My spouse wanted to take his friend and his son to our local bars. After one drink they left to Siren which is always my go to personally. The bartender was very standoffish and made them feel very uncomfortable. To the point, my spouse even asked him what his problem was, and this says a lot because my spouse is a very very non-confrontational person. One star for the photos et. al. on the wall, otherwise a 0. I'm pretty sure I was not welcome. So disturbing to be in the place it ruined my day. I came home and read all the reviews and I feel a little better that other people described what I had felt. Not all the reviews mind you. Many are very positive. It looks as though the bar has a good following of people who like it a lot. But it seems like there are some people who are not welcome. People who look like me maybe. I would be curious to know what type of other people were treated this way and if there is a pattern. I am neither "homophobic" or "racist" and I don't have covid. Maybe I LOOK like that to those bartenders. I don't know and I never will. This is a place that many people described as "toxic". That was my experience. The word "rude" was used many times but I would say "abusive" is closer to it. People describe being offended the minute they walk in. Me too. People described being yelled at and insulted. Me too. Very recent reviews describe a "rude", "smug" bartender with a mullet. That sounds like our assailant. Danny DeVito, with a high screechy voice and a balding mullet, making faces to the customers at the bar and talking under his breath at our expense. Ignoring me and my friend when spoken to, being argumentative and insulting, appearing absolutely put out and exasperated by being asked where the pool cues are or the chalk, huffing and rolling his eyes. All an apparent show for the customers at the bar. The bad vibes I experienced did not come from the local customers, who seemed cowed by this bully. They knew this behavior was highly inappropriate, and watched the show. When spoken to they were civil. The climate of the room, on THIS day, came from the one bartender, Danny DeVito, who seems to have had an apprentice on the day we were there, following his lead in rudeness and lack of civility. I would not avoid this bar. Go into it and see what you experience the minute you walk in (before you buy a drink)... (If you buy a drink, know that I read at least three reviews by customers claiming they had been short changed, and or slighted on the drink). You will know if you are not wanted right away. I would suggest leaving. Or you may feel the love if you are welcome. Many do apparently. Some do not. Or, maybe some of the other bartenders are different than these miscreants. The owner joined us at our table for a bit and was quite nice. She bought the place 22 years ago she said. I think she is experiencing employee abuse. The twosome were fairly sneaky, changing their behavior when she was in the room. Either that, or he is her son. He seemed pretty entitled do do as he pleased, and that would explain his not having been fired. I read a discussion of this being a local place. Is Danny DeVito a local? Really? That's not how I see the locals at all. They are a better lot than this. The two bartenders I experienced turn a proud "dive bar" into something else (but just some of us apparently).
