Starter bread a smoked salmon butter

During my trip to Portugal I decided to this Michelin rated restaurant for lunch. The experience was dining at its finest. With each course I receive new silverware, every dish was described to me and finishing touches were added. I started with the duck, then had the bake and finished with strawberry dessert. The portions were small but delicious and for the experience it was worth the €40

Absolutely fantastic, the perfect execution of flavors, serve and view. We stumbled on this restaurant in the afternoon looking for an easy meal without reservations and this served us beautifully.

Come here for lunch if you don't have the time or bandwidth for hours of a tasting menu. Every table in the room will have a nice park view and the service is solid. Their bread and sardine butter were really good and their foie gras gold bar portion was insanely huge, though I think it was because my husband egged them on to give us more bars! The mains were all rather disappointing, but their deconstructed Pastel de Nata dessert was quite good. For under $100 PP, if you don't booze it up, this place is a good bang for your buck for a 1 Star Michelin quick fine dining fix.

Located atop the Lisbon's Amália Rodrigues Gardens, with a beautiful city view, Restaurante Eleven currently sees German born Chef Joachim Koerper celebrating fifty years of professional cooking with a legacy menu featuring his personal favorites across decades in Germany, Spain and Portugal. Boasting 1* from Michelin and a storied art collection, denizens of Lisbon's business district frequently seen partaking in lengthy lunches amidst posh environs, it was shortly after noon that that the Restaurant was ready to serve, the €54 prix-fixe to generous to pass up, though the lengthier seasonal menu is also available. Light and airy across two stories, wood with large windows looking toward the river, it was not long after seating that Bread was presented, a trio of styles each excellent on their own but better with top-tier Butter, Olive Oil and a Spread of smoked Sardines. Served as three courses sandwiched between Amuse and Mignardises, the former placing fresh Shrimp in fragrant Gazpacho, Koerper's "Gold Bar" sees silky Liver amidst Plums both natural and manipulated, the Gel intensely sweet while what appears to be a whole Fruit has Confit concealed inside. Artistic in terms of plating, Red Mullet with Peas and Saffron delicate in terms of taste as well as texture, "My Version of the Pastel de Nata" arrives vertical with all the proper elements plus delicate Coffee Mousse before ending with three treats including a memorable Orange Pate de Fruit.

We dined at Eleven in February of 2023. Wonderful food. Great ambience. The signed copy of Chef Joachim Koerper's cookbook (pictured) was a special treat. A majority of the staff were kind, considerate, and knowledgeable. However, there were a few staff members who were far less pleasant. As we were leaving I overheard two staff members making distasteful comments regarding other diners as well as persons in my party. Overall, I thoroughly enjoyed the experience but was ultimately disappointed in those few staff members.

Excellent place for lunch. Extremely reasonable price. Perfect service. Good portion of food serving. Very good flavor. Portuguese cuisine well worth its Michelin. Not exactly understand the bad reviews because quite to the contrary, if this was in San Francisco, this meal would have cost a fortune. Business lunch is served Monday to Saturday. For less than 40 Euros, you get three course plus breads and desserts, nearly as good as Jean George, and Jean George is a Michelin 3 star restaurant, so if you were to do a fair comparison, I'd say this place should deserve a 2 stars not 1. I went for the fish salad followed by the fish sampler. The cheese course had three different types of cheeses, two are from Portugal and one from France. All very good. They also bring in the dessert tray which is an assortment of desserts which you could choose, part of the meal cost, nothing extra. The breads are delicious, most surprisingly is the olive bread. It's definitely very Mediterranean in influence. I had a glass of white wine which seemed to be the thing to get in Portugal. The lamb course was also a winner, though for me, I think if you are in a country surrounded by sea, best to get your seafood in. One thing that I regretted not getting is the stone soup from the regular menu, seems like everyone is getting it and I did not as the food is a lot for one person under the super economical business lunch section. Easy to make a reservation. I understand some reviewers had trouble with booking. In 2017, pretty hard to not get a reservation if you just typed the restaurant name in Google and then the reservation bar is right on their website. I got one email reminder and two text messages to ensure that I don't forget. No fuss no muss. They use Fork instead of Open Table but it's just as straight forward. Excellent team of service staff. Every bit of it was Michelin worthy. A place like this in California would easily be a Michelin 2 star. Ignore the negative reviews. This is a perfect spot to get your Michelin in for a fraction of the price you'd pay if you were in America. Come before it becomes a Michelin 2 star!

Came here for our business lunch. We did have reservations, so we were seated quickly. We ordered the 3 course prize fix. One chose the salmon tartar with caviar. Duck maigret and dessert. The other ordered oyster chowder. Sea breed fish and dessert. First. We had their bread service, which was excellent. Three kinds of bread. It also came with regular butter, smoked butter, and olive oil. All were good. An amuse bouch was tuna tatami and it was good. The oyster was okay. Was nothing like a chowder at all. The salmon tartar with caviar was good. The duck was okay as one piece was quite rare even though it should have been medium. Sea bream fish was good. Dessert was okay as we asked for the ice cream to be separated as one was lactose intolerant, but they did not. Service was okay

So, this is what I get for not listening to Yelp and taking another site's reviews into consideration. This meal at Eleven. We went here for our wedding anniversary. We were lured -- yes lured, by the photos of gorgeous serene park views. The lone Michelin Star dining experience. Ambient lighting and the prospect of reminiscing over another year of marriage with calm soft voices over succulent seafood. We entered the dining room and thought that was all going to happen but no - nada disso aconteceu (none of it happened). First, we were seated right next to a semi private dining area taken by a group business dinner of Americans. The noise from their side was Diners, Drive-in's and Dives rather than serene tablecloth dining. The table next to us was a solo diner who spent her entire time watching Kdramas on an iPad that was in my line of sight and featured some half naked BTS wannabes. Perhaps she was some sort of royalty, but it was rather odd and sad. Maybe she did the right thing by wearing gigantic noise cancellation headphones so the Americans didn't interfere with her dining experience. If that decor was off-putting, so was the food. We ordered the Eleven Menu AND Babbette's Feast. Yes, we were warned that it was a lot of food. Our server audibly gasped in disbelief when we said we wanted it all. But we were not dissuaded. Unfortunately, we were disappointed. Course after course was just bland, either over cooked (steak) or not cooked enough (eggplant). One of the gimmicks was a hario coffee maker technique to cook soup. I started videoing it thinking that it would be done fairly quick (the other times I've seen this tableside they usually heat the liquid beforehand). Well, 37 minutes later (yes, my iPhone nearly died after that), it still was not done. The final product was mediocre broth that could have been replaced with Swanson's bone broth without any incident. The trifecta of disappointment was the service. Servers were definitely eager but interrupted at awkward times -- like when we were exchanging gifts and reading cards (and yes right in the middle of me tearing up). We told the restaurant beforehand that we were celebrating our anniversary and they even wished us so. Overall, eleven scores an 11 for memorable dining experiences. But far from that in terms of any awesomeness. Skip this Michelin star, you can get through all the others on the list in this world without feeling like you've missed out.

Rather disappointed and left me feeling guilty for dragging along others to sit through (and pay for) a lacking experience.... Service - abysmal... - Started right when we walked in the door and there was no hostess, who when she finally did show up barely bothered to acknowledge us as she took a couple who came in after to their table - Then came the waiter who took forever to take our order (note the place was half empty so it's not like he was juggling), was extremely unhelpful when we finally were ordering, and was put out to have to do math to split the check - Then there was the sommelier who didn't show up to drop off the menu until halfway through the meal (even though he was requested at the beginning) and didn't come back to take the order until right before the entree - followed by the server who couldn't quite remember what we were eating and had to restart the description a few times (this one wasn't as bad, she was obvi trying) - rounded out by being charged for an extra bread service Food - good, interesting hence the extra star, but not great - 2 amuse bouche- one was scallop that had interesting flavors but the texture was a little off putting, and the shrimp which was good but a little bland - lobster app- the sauce it came in only had flavor if you scrapped the beads of sauce from the side of the plate into the broth. Lobster was well cooked, foam was unnecessary - sea bass entree - the fish was good for the most part, well cooked and seasoned, only draw back was that the skin wasn't crispy. The sides were fine (peas 4 ways) and the broth was tasty. One dinner companion who also got the fish found it too salty and another who had the lobster entree really liked it so that may have been a better way to go. Kinda surprised at the Michelin star, and given the price point and service, I definitely won't be adding this to the recommendation list...

    vegetarian risotto w/mushrooms
    Shira L.

This was probably the best lunch of my whole life. I'm a vegetarian, and when I go to fancy restaurants with no vegetarian options--this usually happens only on work meals--I'm always a little excited that maybe it will be one of those places where I can tell them what I eat and they can just make me whatever they want. Because those off-menu meals are usually amazing. They had a few lunch tasting menus and luckily when I asked the server about vegetarian, he just said they'd take care of it - the rest of the table ordered a 7 course lunch, so for the next 3 hours, I was eating course after course of delicious vegetarian food. The root vegetables were particularly delicious, as was the risotto. It's hard to remember what everything was and I'm not sure I even know. Every course was amazing, but the portions were dainty so I left feeling comfortable and not overly full. I'm sure the wine was lovely too, but I was jetlagged and opted for diet coke for fear of passing out in my soup. I don't think my words can really do it justice, so check out the pictures I uploaded. The service was pretty decent, if a bit slow. It was a 7-course, 3-hour lunch (so also probably the longest lunch of my life, honestly). They were all friendly, quiet. I have no idea what it cost because someone else was paying :). I'd maybe take off 1/2 star for slight snootiness (they originally put our party of four at a giant table that could have seated ten, and were a little funny when we wanted to move even thought the restaurant was empty and remained empty during the entire three hours we were there) and bathrooms that were difficult to find and use (all the way up the stairs, then not labeled by gender that I could see so I walked in on a man--though maybe there were two nongendered restrooms? and then couldn't figure out how to turn on the sink water though that could be because I'm a stupid American).

Once admitted we were seated immediately as the restaurant was only about half full. The menu was quite simple with just half a dozen appetizers and their main dish, seafood rice served for 1 or 2 people. The rice took about half an hour to prepare. The restaurant provided a shell cracker but the tiny forks for removing the crab meat from the leg would've been quite helpful. The rich tomato soup was the best seafood rice from our trip. We were also given a bottle of piri piri sauce and used about 4-5 drops at a time to add a little bit of heat and flavors to the seafood rice.

The staff was efficient and warned me ahead of time how long it would take to make the dish.

We told the server we'd like to order from the menu; it took awhile for her to return to actually give us menus and take the orders -- 30 minutes later our food had not arrived (it was only omelettes). We joked amongst ourselves that they must've been waiting for the chickens to finish laying the eggs! My husband got up to ask our server, who hadn't been past our table since taking the order, if we could get our food and she looked perplexed. When she then brought the plates to the table it was obvious that all four dishes had been sitting on the counter in the kitchen for a long time -- the hash browns were cold and congealed and the eggs were rubbery and cold with a strange flavor. Two of the four omelettes were even the wrong combination of ingredients! We ended up walking out and the manager apologized and said our room would not be billed; I think they should've offered us something from the buffet at that point. I suggest you don't bother with it unless you want the $25 buffet; and I can't really comment on the quality of what was on those platters either. There's lots of great options in Lisbon for breakfast, choose one of those instead.

It is a small restaurant so it pays to get reservations far in advance. The interior is kind of like a house, intimate and very comfortable in a minimalist style. Our table had a view that was breathtaking. The design details are great--even the flower vase at the table was beautiful. There are two choices for the set meals--both with the option of wine courses. My wife and I both ordered the option with fewer courses, then I did the wine pairing. Before the meal, they brought us out a sparkling wine and a white port. Both were excellent--my wife had three glasses of the sparkling wine during the meal. All the wines were from Portugal and all were excellent. We had two courses of amuse bouche. The first had a parsnip cream with pine nuts along with this triangle beetroot bites. Both were phenomenal--I would have been happy with a meal of either of them. The next course was tuna, that came with cucumber gazpacho. They matched so well and this was SO good. This was matched with a vina verde grape that had kind of a green tint but matched perfectly Next was bread. This might be considered odd as a course, but exceptional. Not only was the bread perfect, but it came with great gravy, butter, and olive oil (from Portugal). My wife does not even like gravy, but now wants to try to replicate the poultry gravy here. Then the butter was spectacular also. Next was the sea bass. I think this was my favorite course and one of the most incredible bites I have had. The sea bass was moist and flavored so well. Then the sauce was such a great complement, just extraordinary. This was paired with a Portuguese Riesling that was also great. Next was lamb that was paired with a red blend of 65 grapes. It was really good pairing. The lamb was moist and just melted in the mouth. This came with scallions and fennel--included some sweetbreads wrapped in a scallion. I am not a big sweetbread fan, but well done. After that was a dessert that had crème on a pistachio crumble. Really great. There was a Madeira that came with both desserts, again a perfect match. This was followed by a coffee gelato with these little gelatinous cubes of tonic. Just amazing. The final item was not an official course, but a Madeline with tea or coffee. Again, this was so good and I loved the Darjeeling tea. Just a fantastic, incredible meal.

Only areas where I felt EPUR fell (just a little) short was they had limited variety of non-alcoholic drinks--wish they had a non-alcoholic pairing or at least some mocktails and their dessert seemed like an afterthought.
