This evening, I joined a group of colleagues at Elements Restaurant for an end-of-the-year banquet to round out the school year. We were seated in a private dining room and met with exceptional service by two wonderful waiters. Everything was going as expected until drink orders were being delivered. The waitress who was delivering drinks behind me lost the balance of her drink tray and spilled 2-3 sodas on my back. Luckily, none of the liquid landed on my head. Unfortunately, I was dressed in a very nice suit. The soda created a large stain on my dress shirt, soaked the back of my slacks, and saturated my suit jacket. Of course I recognize that mistakes happen and did not get upset at the waitress. It was obviously not her intention to spill the drinks on me. I respectfully accepted her apology and waited until she brought some water soaked rags to help remove some of the liquid in my clothing. After we concluded with our meal, I approached the hostess stand, asked to speak with a manager, and was soon approached by Daniel. This is where the problem truly begins. I explained to Daniel what had occurred earlier and asked for the restaurant to cover the dry cleaning cost of the suit and shirt, something that any rational person would have expected the restaurant to offer in the first place. I did not ask for anything else and my meal was not waived. After I gave my request, Daniel informed me there was nothing that he could do personally as he was not the general manager (understandable). He told me then that he would write my concern down on a post-it-note and ask the general manager to contact me tomorrow when she was in (also understandable). What was not understandable was when he next tried to convince me that there was most likely nothing the manager could do and that they would not be able to cover the cost of dry cleaning. He said that the best they would offer would be a gift card instead. This is completely unacceptable if true. If a server spills a drink on a patron (through no fault of the patron), it should be up to the restaurant to at least provide some sort of remedy to the clothing of the patron. I am not asking for a new suit, simply the cost of getting the stains and stench of the soda removed. I am also a little upset that it took me having to approach the manager to have some dialogue started. If a waiter spills a drink on a customer, he or she should have a manager approach and speak with them as soon as possible to find some sort of remedy to the problem. Most likely, the problem could be resolved by offering to cover the cost of the meal due to their inconvenience, offer a complimentary dessert/appetizer/ect., and above all else: OFFER TO COVER THE DRY CLEANING. Excellent spot for an upper nice/ casual meal. The restaurant gets kind of lost in the parking lot of a strip mall environment. We ate outside near the stream after a busy day with a rigorous hike. There was a great deal for dinner for two (3 courses each for $49 or something like that although I no longer see that on their website so might not be offered anymore)). Great wine selection by the glass including a dry rose). Excellent friendly service after a bit of a slow start. For some reason none of the tables were being bussed. Not sure if they were short on staff but when we finally got a waitress she was excellent. Food wasn't 100% off the charts but totally worth whatever we paid Veggies were a bit generic and undercooked as you can see from the photo. Dining around piles of uncleared tables was a little weird but overall a great experience- We would go back. read more

When I'm invited by friends, I look for an excuse not to join so I don't have get excused from work the next day- you know what I'm saying, right? If not, don't ask. Ruined my Valentines Day. My pregnant wife is on bed rest so we couldn't go out for Valentines. We looked around for take out and saw that Element's had online ordering. I out the order in over an hour in advance to make sure there were no problems. When I got there to pick up the order, they told me I shouldn't have placed a to go order because it was Valentines Day and they didn't have there normal menu. They told me they had no record of the order. I showed them my receipt and then they said that they did have a record of it, but that they cancelled it. I received no indication that my order had been canceled. I told them if I had known, I could've made other arrangements. I asked the hostess what I was supposed to do now that they canceled my order. She just rolled her eyes and shrugged. I asked if I could speak to the manager. She said she would have to find him, and then just stood there. At this point I grew too frustrated and left. This terrible experience aside, the food here is decent, if overpriced. I really wanted to like this place. Any new restaurant that is trying to do interesting things with food AND has a full bar? We want to like that place. Unfortunately, however, they just don't want it. I'm not sure what restaurant these other reviewers visited. Do yourself a favor and go to Hamilton's or, even better, Tandoori Oven. First the food: It's o-kay. Some of the dishes are just fine, but when they're really trying, such as the tuna spring rolls? Yuk. The ones at Squatters in SLC blow them away. Salads are okay, but really nothing to write home about and overpriced. Then, the service: oh, dear lord. Drinks are ALWAYS slow. They tried to tell us this weekend that drinks are slow--often wrong--and that they served us a beer in a glass with a broken rim that busted a lip all because they can't find a bartender who drinks. With this economy, I find this exceedingly difficult to believe. Get a proper bartender if you're going to serve mixed drinks. AND, get us the drinks within 5 minutes of ordering, not 20. Our server didnt' seem to care at all when we ate or whether or not we enjoyed our dinner. He would disappear for ages while we watched people who came in after us get their food and drinks, pay their bills and leave. We waited 30 minutes for wrong drinks, and then got food that was only okay. A friend ordered a salad without the blue cheese, but it was clear that all the kitchen did was scrape it off, rather than making hers fresh. After summoning the "manager" the best they could muster was a free dessert. This was just a regular meal--no special requests or difficult dishes, and we were there 2 HOURS. Seriously, where's Gordon Ramsay when you need him? Needless to say, we won't be back. And neither should you. read more

i agree with Christie F's review. we really wanted to like this place and gave it a sporting try. we've been to the elements at least a half dozen times, and the service is, unfortunately, on a downward spiral. food is okay to good, if you want to wait for it. drinks take a looooooong time. settle in, folks, you're gonna be there for a while. this last visit took the cake. literally. worst. service. evah. we slogged through a 2-hour ordeal for one round of drinks, three salads, and a macaroni and cheese. one drink was served in broken glass, resulting in a cut lip. the 17 year old "manager" was in way over her head. owner/operator jim booth was there, but couldn't be bothered to make a difference. two of our salads were served differently than ordered, with the bleu cheese being scraped off rather than left off the salads. that's happened to us here before. free desert was offered, but we were so out of there. rarely have I had a dining "experience" that was so stressful. look folks, I know it's utah, but we couldn't help but feel punished for ordering drinks from the bar. that's just bad business, especially for a conference center/hotel restaurant. read more

If you're like me, you've been hearing from lots of folks that you should go to that new place, Elements, because the food and atmosphere are amazing. And you think to yourself, "Please. I'm not a hoity-toity kind of guy. Why do I need to go somewhere THAT nice? I'm perfectly happy with some greasy, cheap food." But, friend, let me tell you, you'd be just like me... dead wrong. The food is amazing. And the atmosphere is amazing. And the price, for what you get, is amazing. The other night, my wife and I went and we had the Thai lettuce wraps and the garden pizza, oooh'ed and aaah'ed the entire time over how amazingly good the food was, and wobbled out stuffed to the gills, with the bill coming to a grand total of $20, including tax and tip. "Garden pizza?" you ask. "What kind of arugala-chomping, elitist are you?" Well, I'll tell ya, I normally have a policy of never eating anything unless it had a mom once upon a time. But, I have to tell you, although skeptical at first, once I bit into the garden pizza, I can honestly tell you that the garden pizza at Elements is THE BEST PIZZA I'VE EVER HAD IN MY LIFE. I've lived in New York where everyone talks about the amazing thin crust Brooklyn style pizza, I've lived in Chicago where everyone raves about their thick crust monstrosities, I've lived in San Francisco where everyone talks about the sourdough crust... yadda, yadda, yadda. Food is mostly good, but service is intolerable. Walked out without being seated twice in the last month. The only draw is patio, riverside seating. We were told we couldn't wait for a table in the bar area because they didn't have enough servers. Why not? There was plenty of help standing around chatting with each other. They said a 20 min wait even though the patio seating had only one table with customers. We walked out with another group that had waited 15 min without getting a table. Maybe the manager doesn't care, and doesn't read reviews, this is a consistent complaint here and elsewhere. read more

S-L-O-W service, typical Logan service (lazy, unprofessional, the customer is not the priority). I only frequented this place for the $1 drafts on Thurs. No more beer specials in Utah and I'm not coming back. The food just isn't that great.. pizza is always burned w/ flakes of charcoal to accompany, fish is meh, it's just subpar. This restaurant is supposed to be one of the nicer ones in town ... they sure don't act like they want to keep the customer happy and the hostesses are typically noticeably bothered that they must seat you. Everytime I've made a reservation it has been lost, so don't even bother. In fact, they'll tell you that you probably just forgot to make the reservation - that's how great their customer service is. We go to Logan to visit the cheese factory and eat here. Have been in at least three times and the food and service are always great. The atmosphere is very nice. If your looking for good food in Logan Element is a really good bet. read more

The food here is great. The atmosphere is great. But DO NOT come here after an event in Logan like graduation. I'm typing this after waiting over 2 hours for my food. I still have not received my dinner. We have eaten here before and it's been wonderful. But this is unacceptable. We were told we were 5 tickets away after 1.5 hours. After 2 hours the waitress told us we were now 8 tickets away. Because of our "large" group of 10 people we have been pushed back. For real?! It is graduation weekend and prom for the local high schools. Large groups are no excuse! My husband made the reservation over a month before, they seated us outside the restaurant in the conference center. I had some great meals at Elements. the short ribs, killer burger, coke meatloaf. The problem is they are not consistent. I was motivated to write this review, about my meal last night. Why even have a dessert menu? so little attention goes into their preparation. Triple chocolate cake, had no cake with three layers of a terrible colored jellied layers, and looked old! For my money I'll stick with Herms, and Le Nonne. And for goodness sake, just serve Aggies ice. read more

The ambiance (we sat outside on the patio overlooking the Logan River) is superb and the food was inventive, interesting, and damn tasty. The server caliber is obviously much improved as we were treated to prompt service, appetizers that arrived well before the entrees, and perfectly concocted martinis. Elements was a much-needed delicious dinner. I'm here on business and needed some good fresh food after a day of travelling. Elements did the trick with simple yet elegant plates. The spinach salad had just the right amount of dressing, the mahi mahi was beautifully cooked and accompanied with flavorful vegetables and avocado. Overpriced and mediocre. I've been here multiple times for lunch and dinner with friends and family, and also for work-related meals. I have usually found the food overpriced and unexceptional. It's like a Utah attempt at what was really hip in Cali in 1987. The service was also spotty. Basic foods like the baked chicken are fine (though overpriced) but things go wobbly the more elaborate they get. It's too bad, because the decor is nice, and in summer the patio by the Logan River is quite pleasant. The death knell for me was a couple years ago, when I got together after work with a group of friends to have drinks and appetizers for my birthday. We had a round of drinks and appetizers, and tried to order a second round of the same. The waiter told us that we would each have to order an entree to order a second drink. Not true, and to her credit the manager confirmed as much when we complained. I realize liquor laws in UT are Byzantine, but this was a waiter working in the BAR AREA at a relatively pricey restaurant attached to a hotel with lots of out of state guests. Decent wait staff training is not too much to ask for. Lessons learned: 1. If you want to drop plenty of $$$ for dinner in Logan, don't. Hop in your car and do it in SLC or Park City. 2. Don't celebrate milestone birthdays in Cache Valley. 3. Don't eat at Elements. read more

The prices can be in the higher range but if you go at lunch, you get a better deal. I love the whole atmosphere there. I've sat in the bar, in the back room, by the fireplace & in just the main dining area. Of course I loved the fireplace, but there is seriously not a bad seat in the restaurant. Be sure to order the chocolate souffle upon arriving because it takes a bit to make. I'd order a nice glass of red wine to enhance the flavor, my favorite thing there!!! read more

This was my first time going to Elements in Logan, Utah. We ate outside in the back next to the river and it was a great atmosphere. The outdoor tables and chairs could be improved to match with the tone of the building. I gave the restaurant 4 stars instead of 5 because the service took longer than expected. It wasn't very busy but it took a long time to receive our food. Also I ordered a side order of fries and they didn't bring it until 10 minutes after they brought my main meal. The food was top quality and tasted delicious. I had the Alfredo chicken pasta. It was a great choice. The chicken was perfectly cooked and zesty. read more

Nice refreshing change for Logan. Early lunch specials are a steal. We had the bistro burger, a pasta special of the day with chicken, bacon, creamy parmesan sauce, two flavored lemonades, and each meal came with with choice of soup, salad or fries. All this for 20 bucks and everything was absolutely delicious! We will be coming here for lunch every time we visit Logan now. Tried this place based on some locals that recommended it. It is located right next to the Marriott Springhill Suites. Noticed there was a patio but was not open. Had the turkey chop wrapped in bacon. DELICIOUS! Came with a side of mashed sweet potatoes and green beans. Service was slow and not on spot. Possibly new hire. read more

Got here close to closing time on a Monday. Ordered a filet with buttermilk mashed potatoes. Menu stated there was winter potatoe and chefs potatoe of the day but the waiter said they are the same. Got the spinach salad with raisins, pecans, Apple and Gorgonzola. It was a barge portion but it was big spinach leaves with long stms so kind of clunky to eat. Tasted fresh though. Bread was not warm. Some kind of herb garnish on the top that was not that great. My service was good but two tables near me had to ask did their waiter to come back. read more

Second visit in two months and will be our last for a long while. We are locals and this used to be one of our favorites but has fallen on hard times. We are very easy to please so the fact that I'm taking time out of my evening to write this review is evidence of how miserable our experiences have been as of late. Party of four and it took over an hour and a half to have dinner. Our poor waitress was trying to serve the patio and dining area but was stretched way too thin. (she tried hard, not her fault) The food was Incinerated AND cold. The black and blue ahi was cooked all the way through. Burgers @ $11 each had no moisture content left and could have passed as hockey pucks. I could go on but I won't. If you really love, or even slightly care about the people you're eating with, you'll take them to elements. It's easily the nicest restaurant in Logan, but not even the most expensive. The waitstaff is fantastic and the full bar is great. Huge selection of food and drinks, even the kids found something they wanted. They have specials every night I've been there and even if they get busy sometimes, it's always been worth the wait. After reading all the glowing reviews were very disappointed in this restaurant. My husband and I went for a late lunch. I ordered a hamburger without the bun. It arrived with a bin. I asked for it to be removed and it came burnt and well done while I had asked for medium on the rare side. Our waiter had disappeared and we had to ask another server to take the burger back. Our waiter never came to ask if everything was alright nor did he apologize for the situation. We got better service at olive garden Tried this place again for the early bird menu and was delighted with our waiter and the excellent service. I had the salmon which was a nice large size. I opted for veggies and had asparagus which was a nice change from broccoli which is served in most places. I also had the chopped salad which was quite large. Since I am on a restricted food program I couldn't have the deserts offered so the waiter asked what I could have. I told him strawberries and blueberries. He brought a large portion of strawberries, blackberries and raspberries. Everyone with us were sorry they didn't have the same thing. Gone are any sense of the delicate flavors that existed before the menu change. Now the heavy hand of the mid western farm house reigns the menu. Gone are the fun varieties of bread, replaced with a single flavorless baguette. Gone is the option for a smaller filet mingon, replaced with a large hunk of flesh. It would seem as though the individual in charge of the menu options came straight over from Texas Roadhouse. What happened Elements? Why would you do away the sweet potatoes? Why do I now have to pay for a soup or salad? I don't get many opportunities to eat out with my spouse, and the Elements restaurant was always our favorite. Now the restaurant can be compared to Sizzler and maybe soon to IHOP. Why would you ruin one of the only good restaurants in logan? read more
