While visiting Logan, we stopped at Barrel & Stave for dinner. We were greeted right away and seated. The restaurant is long with a large bar and tables as well as some areas with couches and chairs, which gave a chill and relaxing vibe. We started off with drinks and appetizers! We ordered the spicy cheese curds (not spicy) and garlic parmesan fries. Both were yummy and the best part of the meal for me. The fries came with ranch and their house-made "Utah fry sauce"! And if you are from Utah, you will get the fry sauce thing. It's a staple and a must with eating fries in my opinion! Then we ordered dinner. My hubby and I shared the steak and mushrooms, and my bestie and her hubby ordered the buffalo chicken sliders and the spaghetti. The mushrooms with our dinner were huge and so good! It's so good to see an establishment like Barrel and Stave open up in Logan. The Valley needs more options like this. As a SL Valley resident, these prices for craft cocktails blew me away. I tried the maple Old Fashioned (with regular bitters due to a walnut allergy, which they happily accommodated), the Rye Smash, as well as a shot, and a beer. I got out for under $40, which is a great price. We sat at the bar and talked for hours. The bartender wasn't pushy or bothered by our long stay. They did a good job with the ambiance of the place. This is pretty standard for Salt Lake, but unseen up north in Logan. Well done. I will be sure to come back to this spot whenever work brings me up to Cache. read more

This rating has nothing to do with the ambiance of the restaurant or the service - they were both great. The rating has more to do with anyone from out of town that looks up "cocktail bar in Logan" and expects craft cocktails. The cocktails here both look and taste subpar. We almost left after looking over the menu of drinks because the sheer amount of sugar in every single beverage shocked us. We had two cocktails that were both filled with sugar and not balanced or enjoyable, but our server was lovely, the place was gorgeous, and we had a good time playing cards while sipping our sugary beverages. Don't expect a craft cocktail experience but the place seems like it has potential if they had the right beverage director! read more

I got the Pomegranate Margarita and they definitely know how to make a good margarita. We tried the mango salsa with chips, French dip sliders, coconut shrimp, churros and baklava. I always try to support local businesses, and Barrel & Stave has been one of my favorite wine spots in Logan for years. I've attended many events there in the past--some just as large, if not larger, than this one--and I've never experienced service as poor as what happened during the Turkey Trot Pub Crawl. When we arrived, a woman at the door told us they were at capacity, even though there was an empty bar stool. Since there were two of us, we were told we could stand in the entryway without food or drink until something opened up. A few minutes later, a group of three--friends of Steven--arrived and were immediately being brought back to be seated. I spoke up and made sure we were seated first, but they were still seated right after us. Once seated, we ordered one glass of wine and the pub-crawl drink special. After more than 30 minutes with no drinks, no service, and no communication, we decided to leave. My friend spoke with Steven on the way out; he said he "was going to comp our food," which would've been difficult considering we were never served anything. It was disappointing and incredibly unprofessional, especially given how many great experiences I've had there before. It will be a while before I go back, but I truly hope they hire competent staff and get back to the level of service that used to make this place such a standout. read more

This place is a step up from what Logan usually has to offer. The whole place has nicely been remodeled including ADA bathrooms (win) We didn't order any food so I can't speak to that. The drinks were fancier cocktails and I enjoyed them all minus the old fashioned. Our server was attentive and had no concerns there at all. When it town we would definitely go back. read more

The service was poor, and the servers general menu knowledge lacked greatly. The owners enjoyed a beer at the bar while discussing what would seem to be their weekly "bingo night". This was definitely a swing and a miss! Hope it improves as the ambiance is good. read more

Went here to celebrate my wife's retirement. Didn't want a meal, just somewhere we could enjoy the evening. Barrel & Stave was that and more. Finally! This is a great new bar downtown. It's close to a lot of the main attractions, so I can see this being popular. Compared to The Cache Bar, I would say that though they are both bars, that they have completely different vibes. This place is a lot more wine and beer with some great cocktails. The have a small appetizer menu that is completely lovely and is done by the previous chef of Crumb Brothers, Barney Northrup. I look forward to see how this menu evolves as they go. The wine list is excellent, and I didn't see a bottle/glass that I would consider bad, and the beer list has many options to suit every pallet. The place is small but well placed. They have kept some of the old items of the place's previous inhabitants that are refreshed and add to the ambiance. Opening night is a proven a success and I can only hope they continue on with such a strong stride. read more

Finally a nice bar in Logan!! I was so excited to see this place open in Logan and after my first visit, I think this place has a lot of potential. I ordered an Old Fashioned and a Whiskey Smash. The Old Fashioned was a little different because I think it had a bunch of plane water in it (see my picture). The Whiskey Smash was good and I look forward to other drinks. We also ordered the charcuterie board, focaccia, and oysters. It was a disappointment that the charcuterie board didn't come with crackers or bread which is why we ordered the bread. I don't think I've seen a charcuterie board without some type of cracker or bread. I would have preferred they just charge a little more and include crackers or bread. The cheese was pretty good, but some of the pieces much have been left out for a while. The focaccia was fabulous as were the oysters. The menu says oysters, but you only get one. I would fix that issue. Service was great and the space is amazing. I think they have great potential, but need to work on some refinements in the food experience and expectations. Nice looking bar, was dead on the night we went and the server didn't seem too interested. We had a couple of drinks that were ok but not great. The old fashioned was pretty bland and tasted watered down. My friend had a Mule which he said was ok. It may have just been an off night, and we didn't have any food, so maybe worth another try if I'm in town again. read more

I have just been at Barrel and Stave for the first time and I was amazed. The food was excellent and the service was superb. It was such a wonderful change from the noisy and boring places and further it is an adult restaurant for adult taste and atmosphere Our server was great and the chef himself stopped to see if the food met our approval. Arguably the worst service from bartender's I have experienced in a long time. They do not pay attention to their bar, are more focused on making drinks than serving customers, and are spread too thin by management. A bad combination indeed. I can't really identify a reason to come here. read more

Great drinks, delicious gnocchi, fabulous crème brûlée. This is a great spot for hanging out in Logan.

Was very excited for this higher end spot. But, both times I've been (early February 2022) typical bar drinks were made incorrectly or you could tell the mixer they were made in wasn't washed (residual taste from other drinks). Hopefully it'll improve because it's great to have another place to "go out" to in the Valley. read more
