Bar is a disaster. Bartender is working his butt off, but I had to explain how to make a gin martini (first one had half gin half vermouth). What happened to this place? Used to be a family friendly place with great service but now, the service is bad and the food is ok at best. Was just there and OMG. My server was so bad and her attitude was just off the chart. Asked for a togo box since we only finished the half of our pizza and she brought us a togo box you get it at teriyaki stores! Go. Now. Honestly I rolled my eyes when I heard there was going to be a new pizza place in the U Village, thinking Seattle is already pretty saturated with pizza choices. Having been there now, I think I am going to wonder how we survived in the U Village without a great pizza place like Elemental Pizza. Great atmosphere, amazing service, and good buzz. More importantly the the stromboli appetizer is bite size chunks that are perfect for kids. The menu has a really great selection of pizza and non-pizza options, but the menu isn't too short or too long. I had the carnivore pizza and it was a great, thin crust with lots of different kinds of meat. My friend had the classic margherita pizza and the kids had two more orders of the stromboli and a pepperoni. Yes, there were leftovers that didn't go to waste . . . If you like Serious Pie (Tom Douglas fans) you will love this even more. I you like Pagliacci, you will never go back there after eating at Elemental. read more

There are only 2 food groups for me - 1. Pizza 2. Other stuff...and I could eat at Elemental everyday...nuff said :) Pizza is an art that restaurants trifle with at their peril. The crust has to have just the right amount of tautness and crispiness to it. Too much sauce it goes limp, too much cheese and you feel like you've swallowed a small hippo afterwards. Elemental gets it right! Not saying they're the only ones who do, but they're definitely in some distinguished company. My favourites: The thai curry chicken pizza: It combines the perfect 'texture in the mouth' that all of elemental's pizzas possess combined with the explosive flavor of a superbly balanced thai curry. Full props to the genius who conjured this up! The high heat pizza: The traditionalist's choice. The peppers and salami are a winning combination. Can't go wrong with this one! I love the laid back yet subtly sophisticated ambience regardless of time of day which makes it perfect for family dinners and date nights. The staff is very professional and friendly! After posting my review from 2013, I had a really nice exchange with one of the owners. He took the time to go back, print my receipt and walk through the charges with me. Update #1: there is no mixing fee. Elemental uses receipts to track pours, therefore a single drink may print on multiple lines with multiple dollar amounts. This seems reasonable. Unrelated but relevant: the drink I got for $11 was not reasonable. Update #2: the bartender that I reviewed previously no longer works here. We had lunch there today after my daughters college graduation. The place was not too busy. Special was a small pizza and salad for $17.00. Was very good. I had the mushroom/sausage pizza and salad. We also had the potato pizza and the house special salad that is delicious. The only reason I'm giving it a 4 star is that we asked several times for drink refills and only got them as we were leaving. We also told the waitress we were there celebrating a milestone in my daughters life that she just graduated college and got no comment back...wow. Asked for light cheese on first try and got a pizza heavily laden with it. Next try got light cheese and burned the spinach. As you can see from the photo, this should never have been served. Hungry after shopping, too long line at Din Tai Fung on a Saturday, so I stopped by. Roasted broccolini was good. Yukon Gold pizza was somewhat good....toppings/dough ratio...NOT ENOUGH TOPPINGS to my taste. The DOUGH IS NICE AND FRESH, on the soft side, in a very good way....I like, but I ordered A WOOD FIRED PIZZA, NOT A WOOD FIRED FLATBREAD! SERVICE IS POOR! Friendly but waaaay too casual. Noisy ambiance. The waiters are like loud youngsters running around kinda...I was at the bar and the way the gal there (nice and friendly though) prepared the cocktails....felt sorry for those who ordered cocktails! Seem amateurishly made! Even the lime wedges weren't well cut!! Anyhow thought this was a restaurant not a fraternity/sorority spot. This place needs badly professional staff... Overall, nothing to rave about. The stars are for the food, not the service. I am giving this place 3 stars only because their prices are a bit high for the food you get. Don't get me wrong. The pizza tasted good, but compared to other places, their price of $16 for a small-med sized pizza with only two toppings (that were super salty, btw) was too much. Friend and I felt for pizza and decided to try out this place on Sunday and boy we wish we didn't.... We came in during the evening and the place wasn't crowded so we were seated almost immediately. I ended up ordering the sausage and rapini pizza and the bottom was slightly burnt, same goes with my friend's pizza too. The overall taste was average at best but the service was ridiculous! During the course of our meal, our waters was not once filled and the waiter hardly attended us but rather just mingled with his other coworkers. It's obvious from the reviews that this place lacks consistency. You can't have these five stars then two and three star ratings at almost an even rate and claim that this place is consistent. Okay, it's consistently being inconsistent. But forget that commentary, at the heart of this post is our experience. Medium - probably won't be back as this restaurant is just like Grace's. Medium food, medium to bad service. Why bother there are better places to eat. Price was not an issue - I spent $21 for my lunch. The point of this review - medium rating on food, service, and about the staff/restaurant operations - they're not taking care of the customer. They spend more time with their internal dynamics and then get around to the customer. Salad ordered - Caprese - actually the improvement over Grace's is they put more cheese on it. The dressing was good - sweet and sour balsamic based dressing. It was a little heavy, but would rather have that than not enough dressing. But one thing I've learned - instead of tossing salad might have been nicer to have just drizzled dressing on and left the greens a little more fluffy. My pizza - the BBQ Pork - figured it would be like California Pizza Kitchen BBQ Chicken - it was - but stingy with the cheese, hardly any onions, and yes, I actually asked for more cilantro because there was maybe a half a teaspoon of cilantro irregularly sprinkled on it - i.e. on one side not the other. I could also tell, the pulled pork was at least a day old or more - kind of that stale taste meat gets. My daughter's pizza - Green Goddess - she liked it, but it was okay - not anything where she was going - OMG! This is great! We started watching things though - maybe watched too many restaurant reality shows, but interesting stuff - So first item we immediately noticed - kitchen staff in center island acting like they were almost all new to the job. It was kind of like "How are we supposed to make the pizza crusts?", "You put what toppings on this one?". Then a lot of milling around by them - one guy would be working and the other two watching him - often. Prior to the video scenes posted staff members were dancing with each other, sucking down drinks at the counter, milling about, and what looked like the owners or the corporate types - they're having a big lunch, one of them worked on the oven and some other stuff in the food island - seriously, wearing his parka - He looked like he was one of the customers coming in and going behind the counter if you didn't know better. Very unprofessional. Then some gal joined him for a little while there in the pizza station - she too had a parka on. Uh, why are the managers or whomever these people are conducting themselves this way? They're treating the place like it is their home and the customers are incidental to the operation. In addition, while the inner circle types are hanging out with each other, and oblivious to what's going on in the restaurant with both the cooking staff and wait staff, they're chatting it up with the pretty blonde waitress - who also when we first got there also spent an inordinate amount of time with two other males, ignoring people who had been waiting for her to take their order. But forget that, while she's chatting up the managers-types, why aren't they concerned with her spending time with the customers as opposed to them? Parka-man was right there with them and no one seemed to care how things were going in the restaurant. The pizza prep island was clearly overstaffed by a solid one person and more likely two - even during the restaurant's busy time. And why is this guy with the beard being allowed to make food dishes with no beard cover, not to mention, two of the other prep guys were making pizzas with their bare hands. One other prep guy did have gloves on. Ick! Seriously, this place is headed I think in the direction of Grace's - they obviously think that changing the menu will do the trick, but the problems are clearly residing with the management. The staff who were flailing around trying to figure out their jobs in the pizza prep area, the flirty waitress, the borderline food - that is the owners' and managers' fault. They're failing to manage, lead. I'm spending money at a restaurant so that I can have a nice experience, not to be an after thought in the process - "Oh, we have customers, hang on customers, we're more interested in ourselves - we'll be with you eventually with our likewise after thought food." read more

I just tried Elemental Pizza in UVillage. It was amazing! The Rocket salad was super fresh. The pizza was called Green Goddess, with fresh pesto, basil, artichoke hearts and sun dried tomato. The salads are good but the GF pizza crust is not. It wasn't crispy and it just didn't hold up to the toppings (not very exciting either - if you don't want meat). The service is weird as it seems to be run only by college students and they don't really understand customer service. They do an OK job but don't really "get it'. This place has really amazing crust and a friendly staff. Unfortunately, we waited over ten minutes for a waiter and only had one AFTER asking a server from another section. After we finally had help, we didn't receive our entire order (no salad) and never had water. It's a shame we were met with such poor service because the food was quite good. I might go back once the restaurant staff has had more practice, but it's pretty spendy to have been treated so poorly. :( read more

I read the positive reviews and decided to give this place a try. We ordered the Prosciutto, Classic Pepperoni, and Carnivorous. The Prosciutto was so salty; no amount of water chugging could satiate my thirst. As for the Pepperoni, there was too much cheese and not enough pepperoni (you might as well order a Cheese with a side of pepperoni). The Carnivorous was equally disappointing. All three pizzas were overly burnt. There's a fine line between properly crisped crust (or even slightly charred) and one that's so burnt that the acrid flavor overpowers the other ingredients. All told, the only dish on our table that we enjoyed was the caesar salad. read more

I've dined here about 3 or 4 times over the last year. The first time I ordered the Green Goddess Pizza, amazing! I highly recommend it. However, although our waiter was nice and friendly, he wasn't very attentive and my water glass was empty for the majority of the meal. The 2nd time I ordered a chicken caesar salad. Very nice portion, and tasted great, however the chicken was very dry. I would order again, however. Service better this time. The 3rd and 4th times I just sat in the bar with friends while they ordered food, and had a few drinks over happy hour together. First of all, can I just say that whoever designed this place did a poor job. The bar is TINY! Poor service, we had to wait at least 20 minutes for our check. The 2nd time the waitress was so rude up to the point where I was about to say something. She mimicked my friend's voice when she politely asked for a side of ranch for her pizza, it was atrocious. The staff seems too interested in just standing talking to each other around the bar than to be bothered serving customers, or at least being pleasant. If you are in U Village and craving pizza, go to DelFino's, a pizza place that's been a staple in the shopping center for over 15 years, instead. read more

I love fire roasted pizza and Elemental's is not bad. I love fresh arugula salads and their's is okay. I love a great atmosphere but I'm not so fond of Elementals cold metal and hard wood. Always busy, lots of kids. This being said I have kids and this place is super kid friendly. If you ask they will give your littles dough to play with and smash... how cool is that?! The pizza is delicious!!! (I love the "FUN GUY" it's the mushroom pizza ... i enjoy the pun) Really all of the pizza is great. The wine selection is good as well. The red blend was fabulous. We have been here a few times with just our small family and with larger groups with tons of screaming kids (yes that was me... and I am sorry) This is a very very pricey place for a pizza joint but it is super hip and has a cool vibe. I suggest this place for any young parents who want to feel like a grown up again... it's kind of got a cool bar feel to it... well with babies... (when is the last time you went to a bar mom and dad?!) This is a great new place in U Village. Awesome pizza, great beers on tap, good vibe in the restaurant. We've had a few different pizza's already, but the High Heat was our favorite. (They are all actually pretty good) Very fast, so great if you just need a quick bite when your shopping or about to go out. Stopped in while shopping at UVillage and were surprised by how great the meal was. My wife and I shared a salad and a pizza and it was the perfect size meal for us. Loved sitting at the bar and conversing with the staff behind the counter to get recommendations on which pizza we should try. We went with the Primo Pesto and both commented on how great the combination was of potatoes, pesto, sundried tomatoes... bringing it all together, the crust was perfect. Ok so is the pizza a bit on the pricey side? Yeah a bit. It's good pizza, but here in the city of amazing food it gets a good strong, "it's ok" however, the reason you want to go to this particular elemental pizza is Rachel. Rachel is a server there, actually that's not fair she is THE server there. She is so incredibly awesome. I enjoyed lunch there with two of my friends and my girlfriend, and she was not only there exactly when we needed her she also was super funny, smart, quick witted, and totally on top of it! My girlfriend was having a bad day and despite the fact that we are adults she brought her some kids pizza dough so that she could de stress and get messy and have some fun while unwinding from a bad day. I made a reservation yesterday to come in, and I had to wait additional 20-30 minutes after I arrived even though I came in at the time they told me to come.. Anyways we were seated and ordered our food. I ordered a Lemon Shrimp Linguine and Carnivorous pizza.. As for the Pasta,, I am a Pasta Lover, wherever I go I always order pasta.. But I was seriously disappointed on How terrible this tasted.. The noodles were so soggy that It felt like I was eating a dump of nasty soup.. The sauce itself was not bad but it was so bland that I had to pour a whole lot of crushed pepper into the sauce... And as for the Carnivorous Pizza... Honestly I could of gotten the same pizza at Costco for a whole lot less and more amount... The overall experience was just too less for that kind of pricing... I also did try the Prosciutto & Arugula from my friend's order but it was so salty... The Truffled Mushroom pizza might of been the only decent pizza there.
