I was pretty disappointed in elemental pizza. I came here on a Sunday night with two of my friends. I usually don't eat dairy, but I was craving pizza so i decided to order a pizza. I got the prosciutto and arugula pizza. It had a garlic oil base, fresh mozzarella, Zoe's prosciutto, arugula, & balsamic reduction. The arugula was just plopped on top. When you pick up any slice, all the arugula would fall off. The balsamic reduction was also drizzled all over the arugula, so it would get all over my face as the arugula fell off when I would try to take a bite. So basically I paid 17 dollars for a big messy piece of bread. It was a good piece of bread though, so for that I am giving it 3 stars. I honestly was not expecting the food to be great as I was prejudging the restaurant based on the terrible service. We waited about 20 minutes for our drinks and 45 additional minutes for our food even though the place was fairly empty; however, my fresh caesar salad and the delectable pizza made up for the inattentive waitress. Elemental is like, my favorite pizza place ever! I actually went to Italy for a week when I was 15, so I know all about the culture and authenticity. This pizza tasted just like Rome! I ordered just a plain cheese pizza with basil because in Italy, excessive toppings are considered stupid and American. It was delicious! I'm actually lactose intolerant but I've decided to be more open minded and start tolerating more things, so my stomach ache wasn't too bad. Even though there was no string quartet singing O Sole Mio and disrespecting people's personal space like when I was in Tuscany, the restaurant still had a great ambiance. Shout out to Molly! She is a great employee and loved hearing about my time in Milan (who doesn't!). Not everyone is as lucky as me to have a real taste of Italian culture, but Elemental is a close second. read more

Atmosphere- clean and recently redone but not comfortable at all (looks nice but really hard benches). The space also isn't that large and I feel at times it can get noisy quite easily. Price- kind of expensive for what it is about $15 for an individual 12 inch pizza. Food- overall was pretty decent, nothing special but not bad at the same time. Salads were overdressed but pizzas were okay. Water that was given to the table was also lukewarm. Not impressed but also not totally disappointed. Probably won't return unless I absolutely need to. I work in customer service industry and understand the importance of providing a great experience. Unfortunately I did not have one at Elemental. I was greeted by a bubbly waitress who was friendly. Great. I elected to build my own gluten free pizza. I'll happily pay extra for quality ingredients. Everything went down from there. As I'm building my pizza, I asked for Quattro cheese blend, however the waitress said anything over 3 toppings was extra. I understand for meats veggies etc, however this was not specified in the sauce and cheese section. I did not ask for extra cheese, just a blend. She wasn't sure and asked her manager. He confirmed 3 toppings only. Anything over was extra. Ok fine. If this the case, please fix the menu and place the 3 topping above the cheese and sauces. I am already paying extra to build my own pizza and gluten free add. If the cheeses and sauces are not extra, please use this review as a coaching opportunity for the staff. Ps. I'm not normally a pizza person, but a friend was craving it so we hit up Elementals at U-Vil. The place wasn't super busy so they seated my while I was waiting for my friend, who was running about 20 min behind. The place was filled with the the most amazing aromas and I kept looking around to see what people were eating cuz it smelled so good! They had plenty of pizzas to choose from and a good list of drinks. Their rain drop (lemon drop) was strong and tasty and a great way to pass the time while watching people eat. We ordered the staff-fave truffled mushroom pizza and the high heat pizza. I'm not a fan of mushrooms but hearing such great things about it pulled me to the dark side and they were not wrong! It was so delicious. Meaty mushrooms and flavorful truffle oil made for a earthy but not heavy pie. I loved it! Also reheated well in a toaster oven the next day. I loved the peppers on the high heat pie, but thought it was a little oily for my taste. We also tried the brownie sundae for dessert but I didn't feel the brownie was "brownie enough" - it felt more like a cookie. Overall, it was a yummy meal with great company. The staff were friendly and not pushy. The food and drinks were tasty. A little more than the standard Papa Johns or Pizza Hut, but I think it's well worth it! read more

The space was pretty crowded with lots of college students and families with young children. Staff is friendly, but a little aloof. White bean pesto soup - didn't taste any pesto flavor, was just a white bean soup with a side of bread. Chopped salad + grilled chicken - salad was flavorful and packed full with salami and cheese. The grilled chicken was over-grilled which gave off an unpleasant burnt taste. Truffle mushroom pizza + sausage - delicious crust, flavorful mushrooms, nitrate/nitrite free sausage, and perfect amount of truffle flavor. Kids rigatoni and meatball - overly sour and tasted like canned tomatoes not cooked down enough. The meatball was super mushy so the texture was definitely off. This dish did not taste good at all. Sent this dish back and had it taken off of our bill. We would definitely return for pizza and salad. A huge improvement from the previous restaurant, the people who brought you Blue C and Boom Noodles show that they can also do Italian. And in my opinion, it's much better than their Asian ventures :). There have been so many new pizza joints opening up in Seattle over the past few years, a new one is like bringing coals to Newcastle. But Elemental really succeeds, and here is why: 1). Quality - I have had both their 7" happy hour margherita pie and regular pepperoni pizzas, and both were awesome. Perhaps a little less charred than Tutta Bellas, they still thin crust and wonderfully light and chewy. 2). Meatballs - Seriously good meatballs available as a side or a sandwich. OK, not as good as my faves from Salumi, but Elemental is open on more days and with longer hours :). 3). Bar - Granted it is small, they still have a bar, which is sorely needed in U Village as a respite from the crowds and shopping. They have some great brews on draft like Hilliards as well as liquor. Sold! 4). Where did they find such happy servers and staff? Really friendly service and everyone there made me feel welcome. Anyway, the place can definitely get crowded fast so try avoiding the peak hours or if you have a couple of people, stop by the bar, for a nice break. read more

I don't know if it was because i visited them on weekend dinner time, but our group (4ppl) had to wait about 15 minutes to be sitted and additional 30 minutes to be served with our foods. We had carnivore pizza(comes with sausage), stomboli, and the big chop salad. The price was reasonable, but on a little bit higher side, considering the 'near' university setting. The carnivore pizza was not too generous with the meat topping, and it didn't feel too special from other take out pizzas like pagliacci. The stromboli was okay, and it was a good appetizer. We enjoyed the big chop salad the most. It came out in a huge bowl- a huge portion for only $11. I may stop by at elemental when i am shopping at uvillage, but huge waiting time experience makes me want to head to delphinio's instead. (delphino serves lovely deep dish pizza, and is also located inside of the university village. Overpriced and mediocre food. I called in to order takeout...so I could eat pizza, pasta, then finish strong with an icecream cookie sandwich with my kids. The staff needs work also, passing me from one person to another...just to place a quick pickup. In short, I ordered 2 pizzas, a Rigatoni w/ meatballs from the kids menu, and a Vanilla icecream sandwiched with 2 Chocolate Chip Cookies...to a total of $60ish. Pizza was burnt...with meh flavors. We ordered RIGATONI, yet was given spaghetti. Aside from that, the bolognese or whatever tomato sauce was cold in certain parts while the meatballs were just gross, in taste and texture. I felt bad for the lil ones...as they were super excited for the icecream sandwich. It was good and sweet, except the cookies were rock hard that the kiddos couldn't really bite into it. My suggestion to Elemental Pizza...would be to offer a chewy cookie instead. More of a convenient spot, as opposed to being a restaurant that's worth looking forward to. This is a cozy pizza place in UVillage that chemistry and physics majors will find particularly amusing. Yup, their version of the periodic table of elements is fun. They have a selection of appetizers, sandwiches and salads, and of course pizza. My favorites are the white bean & pesto soup, fire roasted broccolini (I think it's the best I've ever had) and the green goddess pizza. If you prefer meat, they have a number of meaty pizza options too. It never hurts to save room for dessert. The cookie & gelato sandwiches and an old-fashioned brownie are yummy (though the brownie would do just fine with about half the amount of whipped cream). If you sit at the bar, you can watch how the pizzas are made as the kitchen area is open. Speaking of seating, it's all open space, no booths, and the place can get packed with families with children. If you're looking for a more quiet location, this one would not be it, but if you don't mind, the food is definitely worth trying. read more

I went to Elemental about a year ago and a half ago and I have to admit- I remembered it being average, and I never felt the need to go back. Then a few months ago, my friend who has been going there for years mentioned how they had redone the whole interior of their restaurant. I decided I wanted to try it again, and I am so glad I did. I decided to try the meatball sandwich with a side maple bacon salad. The bread that the meatball sandwich was served on was so yummy! And the meatballs were really good too. But the star for me was the salad. I am not the biggest fan of salad; I have a few that I do really like and that's it. But I ordered this one on a whim, and it was the best salad I have ever tried. My friend also tried it, and I think we talked about it for weeks. If there's one thing to try here, it's that. I also went back a few days ago with my boyfriend. I really wanted to try the baked potato pizza but none of my friends thought it sounded good. However, right when we sat down my boyfriend mentioned wanting to try it. It was SO good; I sort of wish it had a little more sauce so next time I go and order it I may order a side of sour cream or something. But still, so good. I've never had a problem with the service- they always sit us really quickly and are super helpful. One of my friends is vegan and our server was really helpful and let her customize a pizza with whatever vegetables she wanted. It ended up being a little pricey, but it was really good. The location is very nice and casual, and the atmosphere is very relaxed and visually engaging. You feel like you are eating at a café but at the same time feel as if you are inside your local pizzeria's kitchen. We ordered the BBQ pulled pork pizza and it was perfect. At 12", it wasn't too sweet nor too doughy. The crust was crunchy and baked to perfection. Truly good woodfired pizza. I stopped here for a late lunch with my mom. We sat outside since it was such a nice day. They have a few beers on tap, most of them well known and local. For lunch we shared a pizza. It says on the menu that it is a personal 12", but is was perfect to share. We got the truffle mushroom and added sausage. It was really tasty! I could definitely taste the truffles on the pizza. It was wood fired and the crust was really tasty. It cost about $18 with the sausage added. Some friends and I went here Friday night and it was packed. The atmosphere is classy and we all loved the wood walls with big wood-fire pizza ovens in the center of the space. I always love watching people make the food and seeing the oven in the center with chefs creating pizza was a good centerpiece the the restaurant. We had a salad, stromboli, three pizzas and dessert, to then go home a lie on the couch with very happy food babies. :) As with the other review, go eat the strombloi. It was sooooo incredibly good that I'd go back just for that. It's a pizza place, though, and the pizza was really good. It looked like most people were ordering one pizza per person and so we ordered the Carnivore, Green Goddess, and BBQ pizza. Of the three, the BBQ was the stand-out and was absolutely fantastic, but if I were to go once a week I'd most likely order the Goddess over and over (I'm a sucker for pesto sauce, though). The red sauce could have used a little more kick for my liking, but I like a really spicy and herby sauce, which is probably not for everyone. The dough here is really good - not too thin and not too thick with just the right touch of chewiness. And then there was dessert. Whoever came up with the idea of make-your-own ice cream cookies sandwiches deserves a reward and doing it with gelato deserves a medal. I went with the pear and oatmeal cookie sandwich and highly recommend that you do the same, though the chocolate-chocolate cookie was really good as well. Warm up the cookie and this sandwich is to die for. All in all, this is an excellent addition to U. Village. It is easy to sit down with some friends or family to have some good, well-made pizza. Happened to come to this place twice in one week since I was in the UVillage area to shop and meet a friend. Both times I was in the bar-I just found it much easier to eat in here vs waiting for a table. The first time I came here with my boyfriend, it was a 30 minute wait around 6 p.m. because there was a UW basketball game. We got lucky with a few seats open at the bar and eventually a few tables opened up in the bar. It was crazy crowded in there but the bartender told us it was because of the game and usually it wasn't that busy. Second time was during a weekday around 1 p.m. no wait. Food is pretty good, not the best in the world but they have lots of option for folks including gluten free, veggy dishes and salads. And of course, pizza! Thin crust and oven roasted hand made fresh, better than average. I had the meatballs on the app menu which was covered in a smoky tomato sauce and sprinkled with cheese. I requested some toasted bread to dip in the sauce. The mozz and chop salad are really well proportioned with the option for a small or dinner size. Our food came which was a kids Mac and cheese, a pizza and a salad. The food was ok however there was no warning how hot the plates were. We touched it not knowing this accidentally spilled out water which was our fault for spilling the water. Someone came and cleaned up the water however there was no water refills throughout the rest of our dinner. Would not be coming back. After a quick visit to the Apple Store in University District & exploring the market we were up for a light snack. While dropping off, our Uber driver suggested us to try Elemental wood fire pizza. So we made it a point to try them. Cozy little place, lat of families with kids, we got seated & quickly ordered a round of soups & a pizza to share. I opted for a Potato, Pork Sausage & Kale Soup, which was served with a slice of bread. In the cold weather, the soup was very comforting & was very meaty. Dipping the bread in the hot soup was heaven, slurped till the last drop of the soup. We ordered a Curry Chicken Pizza, expecting it to be of an Indian curry base, however it turned out to be a Thai curry, yellow I suppose. Nevertheless it was a good decision & we all loved it & finished it in seconds. Service was swift & friendly, we managed to get in and out in 20 mins. A great place for good food, the Lemon Shrimp linguine & Spaghetti with a large meat ball seemed very interesting, so a next visit for dinner is definitely pending. read more

The U-Village's answer to the artisan pizza trend. We had a pizza, which was reasonably priced and tasty, and a meatball appetizer which was way overpriced. Hubby would have ordered another pizza instead of the appetizer, but I was full enough. The meatballs in the appetizer were good, just overpriced. This is one of those 3.5 star places - good, I would definitely go again, one of the better options in the U Village. But I wouldn't say it was so amazing that it deserves 4 stars.
