From the moment you pull into the parking lot, you know you're about to experience something special. The charming farmhouse exterior gives way to a cozy country store atmosphere inside, making the entire place feel warm and inviting. One of my favorite parts was the wide-open kitchen, where you can watch the staff hard at work. Even without booking an official tour, it feels like you're getting a behind-the-scenes look at the chocolate-making process. The experience is made even better by the incredible front counter staff. They were patient, knowledgeable, and genuinely excited to share what they do. We were offered samples, walked through much of the process, and never felt rushed. I'm not going to list everything we ordered. There were simply too many delicious items to mention. But I can confidently say this was some of the best chocolate I've ever had. Every bite tasted exceptionally fresh, clean, and thoughtfully crafted. The flavors were rich without being overwhelming, and somehow every piece left me wanting just one more. It might be a blessing that they aren't more conveniently located... but honestly, I can't think of any downside to eating their chocolate more often. So, Eldora, if you're listening: please, please, please open a location on Albuquerque's East Side, or at the very least, start delivering. You'd have a customer for life. read more

If you're a chocolate lover this is a spot not to be missed! As you walk in, your eyes are immediately drawn to the glass display of truffles. To the right are the chocolate bars and drinks. Everything was neatly displayed. The employee was helpful and informative about their chocolate. They do offer tastings which is great especially if you're unsure about something and there is so much to choose from. I tried the no sugar 85% dark chocolate with macadamia nut and quite enjoyed it. I was expecting it to be bitter and was surprised that it wasn't. I also indulged in an iced mocha with the classic chocolate blend. It tasted so good, what a difference good chocolate can make! Good Lord, if you like chocolate you best stay away. We settled on a Chai Hot Chocolate and a Mole Sipping Chocolate (European Style). I've not made sipping chocolate at home for a while and am now reminded why I stopped. IT'S SO GOOD AND DECADENT. We selected truffles ($3 each) and they were amazing. We might have to go back..... There are 1 hour chocolate tours for $15 each. The owner will take you through the chocolate producing experience. The next course is more advanced and teaches you the different palates. Or you could just spring for a custom experience and perhaps invite all your friends for a Chocolate Party. As the winter nights draw in, best stock up now for those comforting hot chocolates round the bonfire. The kitchen is pristine, large and a hive of activity. The server was super helpful and pleasant. The building is off the beaten track which makes you feel like you are part of a secret club. They make single origin chocolate bars in addition to flavored bars, truffles, milkshakes, and drinking chocolate. Employees were very helpful and offered samples when I walked in and started browsing. So far I've had the truffles, some of the flavored bars, and several of the single origin bars and everything is fantastic! My favorite flavored bar is the vanilla pink salt. You can taste the subtle difference in the single origin chocolates and my favorite is Venezuela Chuao. Definitely the go to spot for high end chocolate! Had a chance to go to an event recently here and bought a lot of chocolate and everything is just fantastic. I consider myself to be a chocolate connoisseur, and I've been to many chocolate shops around the country as a chocolatier myself. This place is truly special with the single origin 70% dark bars made from exquisite beans from around the world. I could not ask for a better quality bar with not too much sugar added, so you can really taste the actual difference in the beans. The truffles are also divine! Personal favorite is the hazelnut. Albuquerque is fortunate to have the magic of Eldora Chocolate. Steve, the owner, and his wife have a keen eye and super taster to create this craft chocolate venue. If you love chocolate and haven't checked out this place, you need to get here immediately fore you are in for a treat. Steve has set the bar super high for achieving excellent chocolate. Those of us fortunate to participate in this event can attest to that. I am usually a milk chocolate fan, but after tasting a myriad of dark chocolates here, created from cacao from several places around The Equator, I much prefer his chocolate. Tasting each chocolate the way we taste wine, we learned about the different flavors to look for in a good chocolate. One thing that struck me is that if there was a bitter taste, it wasn't overwhelming. That made all the difference. We were able to do a bit of wine tasting, too, with a nice selection of wines and champagne from Vara Winery & Distillery. To help make the event seem not so decadent, we started off with baked brie, crackers, smoked salmon and bread, and a nice mix of raspberries, blackberries, and red grapes catered by ABQ BBQ. We finished up the evening with coffee from V Roasters. Howie, along with Steve and his assistants, Anthony and Sharon, Louisa of Vara, created a well-rounded event. The chocolate was fantastic and I highly recommend stopping by and sampling. My friend and I ordered a cherry cordial, bourbon truffle and chocolate covered toffee. Hands down the best cherry cordial I have ever had. This place would get 5 stars except for that the two young ladies working were so snotty and unprofessional. They were eating lunch and choose to ignore us while we were standing there waiting to order. They acknowledged we were standing there but continued to eat and talk until we asked them to wait on us. When one of them finally did take our order she was rude and unwelcoming. Clearly we were bothering her. It's too bad because I would have left a nice tip but didn't. You might consider educating your employees on good customer service practices. I really appreciate the owner reaching out and handling the situation. I absolutely will be back. We have had the chance to frequent Eldorada a few times and the best part is the scent when you walk in. The staff are always super friendly and the selection is decadent, at best. Gotta be honest, without naming companies, I'm seriously considering revising my chocolate reviews in the Duke City. Similar to my first sip of single-source, expertly roasted espresso, one bite of Eldora chocolate gave me an entirely new perspective on what the stuff should taste like. Eldora is the real deal, as encompassed by their legit motto, Bean to Bar. It's simply some of the best chocolate I've ever laid lips on, and I couldn't be more thrilled that it's basically in my backyard. Because I'm something of a cocoa fiend, and just a month or so back, I lost one of my favorite lovers, Joliesse. While the brand endures online, I'm badly missing my regular visits to Troy and Grace, who fit brilliantly into the fabric of the north valley. As if instantaneously filling that void, the owner of Eldora -- his name is Steve -- stepped up with a product that actually takes a more risky approach: earthy, almost knuckleball dark -- er, dank -- chocolate entirely produced in-house, bean to bar. It's chocolate with a dimension I've only experienced a few places the world over (that's not saying much) usually involving touring actual plantations and tasting product cooked up just hours earlier. Turns out, Steve spent a great deal of time becoming something of a choco geek, and he wants to tell you all about this treat of the gods. A visit to this shop involves tasting and smelling, an open view of the production line, and an education on why, for instance, you shouldn't buy shiny truffles. Call me grad, cause I just finished chocolate school! Eldora Chocolate provided a full on-education about the sourcing and development of their chocolate. Steve, the owner, is a wealth of knowledge about his passion. He created a wonderful environment for Howie and the Elite team to indulge. The event started with some baked salmon & brie (from Fresh Bistro), crackers, fruits, and great conversation. We then moved on to a tour which took up the majority of the event time. Steve deep dived into his process on where the cacao comes from, how it is imported into his North Valley store, and creatively, how he's gone about storing and furnishing all the beans. As someone who loves chocolate and all desserts really, I was distressed to find out that most chocolates out there are only a small percentage of the real thing. Most chocolates on the market are an amalgamation of chocolate, sugar, GMOs, and preservatives which our bodies overwork to break down. This was eye-opening for me. As a consumer, it made me re-think not only what I put into my body but what chocolate I eat. Most of the chocolates we later sampled were 70% cacao. They offer sugar-free options as well. Steve and his Eldora team went above and beyond to accommodate our group and challenged our perception of chocolate tasting. Vara Wines, another North Valley darling, replenished us with their delicious wines as part of the tasting. They had champagne as well as a killer Tempranillo blend which paired with the chocolates beyond expectation. Overall, this was a unique experience that I would encourage all to try! Eldora Chocolates is so special - I look forward to coming back now that the Holidays are almost here. I leave this review still a little saddened by the loss of a great ABQ business of Joliesse Chocolates, but grateful for NM small businesses like Eldora Chocolate. I had gone to the Yelp Elite-only event held by Joilesse years ago and continued to show my support for them throughout the years. I really enjoyed my time at Eldora chocolate and the tour of the facility. As a regular baker myself, who used to own a double oven, has a chocolate fountain, has made her own chocolate bars, who makes her own chocolate covered pretzels at Christmas and chocolate covered strawberries every year at Valentine's Day, and I never EVER buy any store-brand chocolate eeeewww, I consider myself a bit of a chocolate snob. Even my kids won't accept store-brand chocolate in their stockings or as gifts, so I guess you can call me a chocolatier, myself, I can say that I thoroughly enjoyed the experience. I tried not to be a know-it-all or answer all the questions. ;-) yeah... right as if, I knew all the answers!! I also LOVE the smaller events because I get to know people on a more personal level. It is quieter and easier to talk to people at these events. A couple of suggestions to improve is some cold, icy water. Wine with chocolate or maybe some wine at the beginning of the event to get things moving (which may have messed up the learning activity, I know, but still would have made it enjoyable and would have gotten us out on time). Also, although I enjoyed the learning activity of it all, I truly did, I felt like a little too much time was spent on it. Well, I'm only speaking for myself here, but I was already pretty fried from work, so a little wine mixed in there would have gone down nicely. :) I understand the owner's passion for chocolate, I really do, but I would have liked to learn more about Eldora chocolate, and his desserts, his actual business. I would have loved to learn about what brought him here, what is on his menu, what is his prices, etc... to me, that would have been more valuable, and then have a little tasty treat to take back to my kiddo would have been nice too. Also, having a little something to take home spreads the word even more because I would have let my boyfriend, my mother, and my sister, (who I will see over the Labor Day holiday) also try the chocolate too. With the Labor Day holiday around the corner, that was a missed opportunity, in my opinion, from a marketing standpoint as many people will be in contact will be in contact with their families. Overall, it was a wonderful experience to learn about how chocolate transpires your taste buds from all over the place. It was refreshing and interesting to tour the business. So I passed this place twice and had to take a glance every time because it is the cutest building and I thought is that a house? The outside is just so charming with plenty of parking and very clean grounds. When you walk inside, there is a gentle cloud of aorma covers you like a soft blanket with each inhale! You know you've stepped into chocolate heaven. Theterior design is phenomenal. It's simple yet beautifully designed with every detail in mind. The woman at the counter came out to greet us and asked if it was our first time. since it was she went through a full explanation of the cocoa bean process to how they make the chocolate bars and then went on to describe each bar. Luckily you can have as many samples as you'd like because there's so many and I could not choose. I had the power bar which is a small slice of nuts grains put together with agave and then covered in dark chocolate. It ran $2.50. We then had chocolate-covered bom bom... Yum! Lastly my daughter wanted to try the hot chocolate. Warning this is not your typical hot chocolate. I don't even think it's made out of milk but it is pretty delicious more so a grown up hot chocolate. I believe it was their version of Mexican chocolate. They had some great box chocolates that would be beautiful stocking stuffers for loved ones. The location is out of the ordinary but you must give this place to try!! read more
