Ted C.

I was looking for some local chocolate to bring back and found Chocolate Cartel. It was a long drive from my work site and hotel but I had the time and a company rental so why not add some miles to it? I drove up and wasn't sure they were opened, empty parking lot, but there was a neon said that said it was open. While the outside looks pretty nondescript the inside is like a darkened cave filled with chocolates. I had just come from another city and bought two boxes of 'truffles.' What I liked here was that yes it was handmade and artisanal but it wasn't super pretentious-no cheeky puns for their chocolates just their flavors. I was left to take a look at what was available in the display case while they were finishing up a batch of chocolates. What I liked the best about Chocolate Cartel was that they had a combination of milk and dark chocolates. I stayed away from the chiles chocolate, but their more traditional ones-espresso, raspberry I did pick up. While my box was getting put together I saw they also made paletas here and decided to treat myself to one. They had some interesting twists and I went with the Strawberry Pomegranate one, slightly sweet, slightly tart, I had finished it before I even paid up. Definitely worth a visit even if it's a little bit of a drive.

As smooth as Belgian chocolates and some of the most robust and satisfying flavors I've ever had in chocolates! Vanilla bean creme brule gelato was excellent. Must eat everything very slowly to savor experience. Don't be distracted by humble store front and part of town, well worth stopping in. Very friendly and knowledgeable, Should be an Abq institution.

I don't think it could get any better than this! I was surprised yesterday with a delicious piece of their 73% dark chocolate which was so rich in flavor that I couldn't finish the whole piece! I love that they keep their ingredients simple organic and certified fair trade. My favorite of the sorbets was the pomegranate & strawberry which was so sweet! You could takes the strawberry flavor the sugar and that hint of pomegranate. Better than anything it's all handcrafted locally so definitely going back soon for some more amazing chocolate and sorbet !

Great and quick service! Got a peanut chocolate bite and hazelnut and cinnamon! I love peanut butter but the hazelnut cinnamon was soo good!!! We also got hot chocolate try since my husband loves hot chocolate as well as Toffee and salt and lavender bars.

I love The Chocolate Cartel and they are nicely tucked away on Juan Tabo. Very friendly, can use delivery service, high quality chocolates with beautiful designs and amazing flavors. My favorite is their biscochitto gelato sandwich! The best biscochittos I have ever had, with creamy gelato is worth the cheat!!!

Second time I've tried to come here and they are closed when their store hours say they are open.

Tiny shop with some of the best chocolate and best service I've ever run into. Ambience just small sop - nothing pretentious.

The charming farmhouse exterior gives way to a cozy country store atmosphere inside, making the entire place feel warm and inviting. One of my favorite parts was the wide-open kitchen, where you can watch the staff hard at work. Even without booking an official tour, it feels like you're getting a behind-the-scenes look at the chocolate-making process. The experience is made even better by the incredible front counter staff. They were patient, knowledgeable, and genuinely excited to share what they do. We were offered samples, walked through much of the process, and never felt rushed. I'm not going to list everything we ordered. There were simply too many delicious items to mention. But I can confidently say this was some of the best chocolate I've ever had. Every bite tasted exceptionally fresh, clean, and thoughtfully crafted. The flavors were rich without being overwhelming, and somehow every piece left me wanting just one more. It might be a blessing that they aren't more conveniently located... but honestly, I can't think of any downside to eating their chocolate more often. So, Eldora, if you're listening: please, please, please open a location on Albuquerque's East Side, or at the very least, start delivering. You'd have a customer for life.

The facility is nice and bright, with a red-and-white theme and pops of starbursts painted on the walls. Displays are not overly crowded, allowing the items to be showcased. I was greeted immediately by an employee and offered a sample of dark chocolate salted caramel. Yum! I was very happy with my purchase (as was my pup). The white chocolate coconut pattie was full of toasted coconut flavor, and the Christmas Mix popcorn with green and red chile cheese flavors never disappoints. I did have to break the frosted dog bone into smaller parts since it was so big, but my dog ate it up. You can order ahead for pickup as well.

While I usually go to Buffet's Cannery off of 7th, I was hoping to find my popcorn here. They did have a few selections of popcorn, but not the exact flavor I wanted. This store did have a ton of chocolates, including the noted Red Chili brittle. This is delicious and a must have! Buffets has very friendly staff and even offers you a free sample when you enter. Buffets reminds me of what I have seen Candy stores looking like from the 1950s - very retro! It was a blast from the past.

They offer high tea service, though reservations are required, and that will be for a future visit. Throughout the course, you are served 3 different teas alongside scones, a small salad, and 3 tiers of finger foods. This season's menu includes blueberry scones/muffins, beef wellington, spanakopita, quiche, cucumber sandwiches with homemade cream cheese, egg salad sandwich, chicken salad sandwich, cheesecake, beignet, cream puff, and chocolate. They tasted like something you'd be served at your grandma's house (in a good way). The teas that they served went well with the courses. They started with a strong black tea, then a beautiful butterflypea tea, and ended with a blooming green tea (the tea leaves bloomed into a flower in the glass teapot). Service: 5 Our server was excellent. She was very pleasant and did a good job of checking in on us without being annoying. The website mentions a 90 minute limit, but the waitress never rushed us. Ambiance: 4.5 The restaurant is within a tea and chocolate shop. The front is filled with antique knickknacks that are part of an estate sale and add to the grandma core vibes of the restaurant.
