I inhaled the chocolate too fast to post a picture ‍. Sorry, not sorry. I had a milk chocolate truffle and a sunflower milk chocolate "lollipop". Literally ate them both before I was out of the parking lot. Went in to place special order for a later pick up. The lovely lady who I placed the order with was awesome! I've been here a few times now- mostly to get chocolate covered strawberries and sometimes as gifts. They are a small shop, but have plenty to choose from. The strawberries were tasty and fresh. At $19 for half a dozen strawberries, it can get a little pricey. We got the dark chocolate and they even gift wrapped the box for us for Valentine's Day. Small shop but plenty of options. I stopped in to purchase chocolates for a family member who was having a birthday. He loves dark chocolate. Empty packages are on display unless it's inside the glass display cases. Pick what you want outside the case and the salesperson will grab your items from the stock in the back. Really nice packaging. Prices are in line with other chocolate shops. I bought a small box of chocolates for myself as well and loved them. I will be back. read more

I'm dropping one star from my original review due to an overall upping of the chocolate game in Albuquerque, and some less than stellar interactions with employees. This remains a very good chocolatier, with all of the hallmarks that make me want to support them: it's a small shop, the truffles are appealing to look at and satisfy your cocoa craving, anticipate good gift buying, if that's what you're looking for. About a year back, another competitor opened their doors in the north valley, a bean to bar operation that's producing world class product, and I'd love to see their presence elevate the overall chocolate game, city-wide. Until then, I'll consider Theobroma a good option during the holidays, they're very, very festive. At Theobroma, it's always Valentine's Day! I've been to this cute, local chocolatier several times and am impressed each time I enter the door. The smell of freshly made chocolate fills the place with memories of being a kid. Yesterday I went in for some special Valentine treats for my hubs and son. The owner was there and was friendly. He gave me several samples that were so delicious my eyes were watering. They have everything you could ever want in a local chocolate store. From dark or milk chocolate dipped Oreos to solid chocolate "Aspirin" pills, truffles, chocolate covered popcorn, chocolate covered sea salt caramels, and chocolate dipped strawberries. They have super cute cars, cell phones, or other special, fun designs made from solid chocolate. They also had a plethora of Valentine gifts, boxed chocolates, and foiled hearts. Don't miss out on this adorable shop. Do yourself a favor and try the Cortez Crunch which is now my favorite. It's a bar shaped piece of heaven with milk and dark chocolates, caramel, and a chocolate cookie base. Just delicious!! read more

Life is like a box of chocolates, but at Theobrama you know what you're gonna get--excellence. This Chocolatier provides the best chocolate I've ever indulged in. This is saying a lot because I love chocolate as much as a fat kid loves cake (maybe more). I consider myself a specialist in regards to knowing the difference between a Russel Stover and a See's chocolate. Every V-day I ask for nothing but a box of chocolates from here and this year my wish finally came true. I savored each piece and I have to say enjoyed each bite more than I probably should have. Not only were they good but every piece was so artful. (see photo) It's a very small place but what they do, they do exceptionally well. If you're a chocoholic or chocolate connisseur, you will appreciate what they have to offer. It's pricey but worth it. Makes a much-appreciated gift, too, especially the beautiful little truffles which they offer in more than a dozen different flavors. They also make absolutely perfect chocolate strawberries. They have shelves covering every wall with nearly every size and shape of chocolate, it kind of makes it hard to pick! The first time I went in, I got just one little bar and a single truffle. I found this candy store in a search for Taos Cow Ice cream (which outside of Arroyo Seco) is difficult to locate. This store has a selection of 8 or so flavors of this gourmet ice cream including some of their best and most creative flavors. Once inside the store, it was clearly identifiable as a true chocolate candy kitchen. It was remarkably clean and well organized with carefully presented chocolates and a sample of a couple of their signature items was available. The chocolates that I selected (in addition to several containers of ice cream) were very good, comparable with Godiva for example but could not rate 5 stars due to the limited selection and lack of creative choices. The best items that I had were the chocolate covered, cararmel pretzel rods. Another criticism of this place would be the high prices. The chocolates clearly are good enough to warrant a high price but a shop like this in an out of the way location that is attempting to establish itself probably should price their items at least 25% lower, or alternatively sell some of their items as "seconds" without the fancy packaging to encourage visitors to eat the chocolate. As it is, their items appear to be set up to give as gifts. read more

From the moment I walked in the door, there was little regard for my business. While waiting patiently to ask questions, the person I presume to be the owner was waaaay too busy talking football (he really likes the Chiefs, btw). The young girl behind the counter was too annoyed with my presence to smile or say thanks. And before you say they musta been busy on 2/13 - they weren't. In fact they were slow enough to spend a ton of time talking football. And the chocolates? Meh, garden variety, dime a dozen cacao products. There are way better chocolatiers in ABQ. read more

Excellent chocolates, beautiful gifts and one of my must stops for holiday gifts - birthdays, Valentine's, Christmas etc. Been going here for many years, but this will be the last. I had made all my holiday selections and the owner rang them up. I presented my ABQ Journal Press Pass for discount and he flipped out! Said that even though he advertises on press pass, he hasn't given that discount in a very long time. He said if he gave discounts to everyone who had a press pass, he might as well stick a sign in the window saying "everything 20% off". He is generally a jolly old guy, but this holiday season he lost my business as we as any in the future. The 2 stars are for the chocolates, 0 stars for owner/management. read more

Best. Chocolate. Ever. Seriously. I don't even particularly LIKE chocolate. But when a classmate of mine brought some samples to campus one day, I fell in love. And when I bought a box for my grandma's 99th birthday, she said it was the best chocolate she's ever had. That's 99 loooooong chocolate-eating years, people. And she said Theobroma's is the best she's ever had. And she wasn't just saying that to be nice -- trust me on this one. Same feedback from my uncle, who couldn't help but sneak into the aforementioned box of chocolate and steal some pieces away before Grandma noticed. He, too, said it's the best he's ever had, and this is coming from a man who knows his chocolate. The taste is more than enough reason to go with Theobroma's, but I also have to mention how dang beautiful they are. The chocolates are like little pieces of art, and the gold box (some of) the assortments come in is tres art nouveau. Makes for a beautiful gift for a loved one -- or for your own beloved self.
